Non-racist chat forums

Not sure if this will appear in Active but really I just want to hear the experiences and opinions of Black (and even Asian) MNetters here.

Given the descent into racism of this site, are there any other non-racist ones you’d recommend? I’ve had a look at Tattle and quite frankly that’s worse so it’s a no from me. Plus they’re kind of obsessed with “influencers”, in whom I have no interest.

It’s just a shame that the racism has seeped into all boards here - even TV and S&B is no longer safe. Anywhere else that isn’t a total cesspit?

@NewNameNigel the feminism boards are definitely taking a turn for the worse. A thread that is basically "black women with short hair look like men" attracts 90+ posts whereas a thread I started about horrific treatment of girls in the youth offending system has attracted a grand total of one reply. Priorities.

@coureur I’m not surprised. I remember a thread about Child Q and one of the first responses was “well we only have her word against the school’s”.

You are ignoring that according to some on MN so is every female sports star, athlete, actor, singer...

No one is perfect but if you not white on here you are given a good kicking on any of your flaws.

Very true @Reugny. Black women are always held to a higher standard. And brace yourselves for more on Friday as MM is speaking at an International Women’s Day even. No doubt they’ll go into great detail about how she’s Doing Feminism the wrong way.

@PinotGrogio .............And how she is acting, and is a narcissist and it comes across in her speech. How Harry gave her a hard stare from afar and confessed to a 'close friend' how he wishes he was back in England . The audience didnt like her and she wasn't invited to speak but she pushed until she got a spot. Her whole speech was about her ...have i covered everything?

Oprah has is a complex multifaceted person as she has always been. We have had many in community discussions about Oprah's platforming of problematic people like Dr Oz and Dr Phil, her promotion of the Secret and other similar quasi health related things, there has been criticism of her as a producer in the "Color Purple" remake and criticism of her tone deaf and potentially insulting approach to trying to help people during the Maui wild fires. She is still a respected journalist and controls a influentialpublishing empire that has strong ties and roots in the black community.

It is however very notable how some people talk about Oprah in the forums is not at all related to any criticism of the above but one interview. This one interview has led to people speaking about this very accomplished woman in ways that obscure the dog whistles but they are very much there. You can call her dodgy but it is important to be mindful of the motivations of those who are criticising her.

People will say that Meghan will spend the whole time talking about herself using word salad and regardless of that, whatever she will say will be absolute lies. Her clothes will be classlessly expensive but untidy, unironed and unkempt and her hair will be too sleek, or wispy, or overly bouncy. Harry will be staring into the middle distance whilst she speaks as a spare wheel thinking about how he could have had it all in good old Blighty and he'll only snap out of it to help her whip the microphone from her panel mates to allow her to speak all over them whilst they smile on awkwardly as they have been forced to share the space with her.

Yes, and the usual suspects will be out in force to drive the knives in. It’s really quite staggering that a bunch of middle aged women act like that - you’d think they were the mean girls at the local secondary!

@skullbabe I didn't know about some of that. I know about her healthy life stuff which i find boring to be honest but hey! if i could make money from doing it i'd do it too. Never heard of Dr Oz or 'the secret'. I know she wandered off her faith and became more woo from way back in the 90s but as you said, NONE of the criticisms or sharp remarks about her point to any of that so it is bizarre for want of a better word that their whole dislike of her is predicated on one interview. I suppose it was the opportunity for them to find something vaguely 'credible' to put that uppity woman in her place!

It's quite amusing also whenever there's a mention of her children, there's the coy, 'Lilibet is pretty'. God spare our lives, you just know, they are waiting for the poor dc to be of age and they will start to tear them apart too. I hope Lilibet grows up to be a real feisty boss lady and Archie confident, refined and debonair.

If only they will back off, perhaps the family could find a way towards reconciliation because i believe there is still a lot of love there but the press enjoy the fact the family is ripped apart and the nasty posters on MN enjoy an opportunity to project from their own miserable unfulfilled lives.

Last I read, PH put out a statement after the announcement of KC’s cancer that he has been in contact with his father and that despite disagreements and stepping away from royal duties, they are still family, but of course that is not enough for some posters, likely the same moaning about not being kept updated on Kate.

Some just want drama for their own personal entertainment with no regard that there are real people and there is no need to play Team xyz.

Just a heads up - the thread in which we were name checked has been shut down by MN and unfortunately just before that happened this forum was brought up again.

I did have a quick look at that thread @skullbabe but then my head started to hurt. It was pretty clear from the OP that the thread was set up just to be goady and invite a pile-on from the usual suspects. No doubt tomorrow will bring another!

@NewNameNigel Someone tagged me in a post on a Meghan thread (which I didn’t see until morning) and I suspect a lot of people then found this one and got their reporting fingers out as it was hidden for a few hours so HQ could “investigate”.

I remember someone said you were acting a bit like a "white saviour" when calling out the underlying racist tones in a Meghan thread. I'll never forget that

I'm only on 2 chat forums myself, bit I think there are very few non-racist forums, or ones that are highly publicized. Often people who are minding their own business seems to attract the trolls. Or get ones account deleted if they report the racism too much

Looks like i missed all the excitement but i saw the thread was being investigated and wondered what had happened.

It is admirable the amount energy people spend just hating when called out, some posters have said, 'the moment she married Harry, She signed up to it!'. They clearly do not see how that makes them look. Why would anyone sign up to being bullied and having their character torn apart and why would you be proud to boast that you are indeed bullying /slanedering someone you don't even know?
Surely if other royal family members have been bullied, the lesson would be to recognise it is cruel and leave these people alone. It's seems for some it's like a hazing party.
