Ah Cherry's birth story is great, so positive and what a gorgeous name!

Bubbabear midwife said she'd like the baby to be head down at the next appointment when I'll be almost 35 weeks. However, everything I've read says that they can move around until the last minute, especially if it isn't your first baby.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating this weekend!

x

thecoffeelady · 04/07/2010 22:02

congrats Cherry, I am loving your birth story and hope that my labour and birth are as smooth.

Also congratulations to the ladies who are celebrating this weekend.

We had a lovely day in a local forest today, dd kept up with our friends dc's who are 11, 8,6 & 4. She was shattered by bedtime though as she only had a little nap in the car on the way home.

I really need to start on the hospital bag. With dd I had one for me and one for baby, my birth plan only has 4 things on it so far

  1. What ever it takes to have a healthy baby and a health mummy
  2. I am very adaptable although I would like avoid a CS
  3. I want skin to skin contact as soon as baby is born
  4. DP want to cut the cord

and that is it. Somehow it doesn't seem enough and yet it sounds just what I want.

I can't remember which lady it was who has been experiencing 'tender bits' I have had that for the last 2 days, it feels like I have done the London to Brighton bike ride and is not that nice. I still have a very active baby, last night it was really wriggly and DP was feeling it bumble around, puddin' (our name for baby) did a huge flumpy kick thing and DP proded it back and it was like puddin' flipped out and then had a huge shuffle and there were little flicks and kicks all over the place!

Emster30 · 04/07/2010 22:32

Congratulations again cherry! Can't believe how big Corey was for only 36 weeks!

I had my baby shower this afternoon - we had tea and cake in the park and it was lovely. We had bunting and vintage cups and saucers and stuff. Mmm it was fab, and I got some lovely presents too!

I'm 37 weeks today - any time now is fine by me, thank you baby!

vitapulchra · 04/07/2010 23:24

Congratulations again, Cherry, and thanks for posting your story. What a lovely name you've given him!

weehector · 05/07/2010 00:11

cherry so chuffed for you, sounds like a dream start to your new family life with little Corey. Best of luck for the weeks ahead...you'll be the 'old pro' (ahem, sorry if that sounds wrong!) come August. I hope our Head Girl still has time to come back and hold our hands through some of the wobbles that are sure to come for us novices!

emster your baby shower sounds perfect. You get my vote for this week's Aug 2010 ladies lifestyle award.

Wondering if I'll get any sleep at all tonight. Been running about Glasgow all day so should be tired - came in and managed a power hour between 7 & 8pm tonight..first bit of shut eye since I got up at about 1130am yesterday. I've stopped trying to stress about it or trying to force myself to sleep against what my body won't do - actually had quite an enjoyable midnight to 9am last night...finished all my online baby purchases including a couple of eBay wins, read a good chunk of the 3rd Stieg Larsson book (would highly recommend as books for labour - easy page turners like da Vinci code, etc...oh and chapeau to whoever mentioned A Suitable Boy - I love that book passionately, have you read Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children?, I had to read that in one go too) had cups of tea & toast & did lots of household admin.

Right, night all - off for a lavender bath to at least show faith in my ability to sleep & lose the restless legs. Might ease the lower back pain that's made an appearance today..hmmn, what's that all about?

Chulita · 05/07/2010 08:05

Ack! I had contractions all night last night, kept waking me up. They weren't massively painful but they'd wake me up and I'd roll over, only to have it happen again I got really breathless with each one too so I'm definitely going to need a nap at lunch. They've died down now of course...

emster and littlemiss glad you had fun at your showers

bubba this LO turned at 36+ weeks from transverse to head down but the MW said they'd try ECV from 37 weeks if it was still transverse.

Fingers crossed the ctxs start up again and actually turn into something.

[yawn] morning girls...still half asleep here, sorry!

cherry so glad to hear you're doing well, thanks for telling us all about it!

I think it'll be a quiet day on the sofa for me today. Had quite a busy weekend and need to replenish my energy levels! Yesterday especially was just non-stop. We decided to have quite a chilled out day (dh is getting nervous that baby could arrive at any minute!) so started the day with a quick visit to the dump to get rid of some junk. Except, we ended up salvaging a Little Tikes slide for ds, which couldn't fit in the car, so dh had to walk home carrying half of it! Then, we had to fix it up and make it safe, which took care of the rest of the morning. dh bizarrely then decided to tackle building the new wardrobe for ds. Cue lots of muttering under his breath and stress vibes. He didn't finish it until 3.30pm!!!!!!! Bless him - men just can't do flat-pack furniture can they?

So our chilled out day turned into a non-stop diy-fest for poor dh who is now knackered today. I honestly think he's burst into tears if I told him I'd gone into labour today - he's too tired to cope!

Right, off for a snooze I think. Sorry, my brain is complete mush but I will be back later I'm sure.

weehevtor stop teasing me with thoughts of Liberty for Target! All I managed to buy before I left work was one of their mugs - great restraint on my part, not easy working 2 minutes from Liberty!

bouncingblueberries · 05/07/2010 08:07

Oh chulita just noticed your post! Exciting! No contraction here, but lots and lots of braxton hicks and period-type pains. I actually turned to dh on saturday night to tell him I thought I was about to start my period when I realised how bizarre that would sound

thedogwalker · 05/07/2010 08:13

Good morning all

coffeelady, yeah it was me who mentioned feeling like I was saddle sore. Been like that for a week now and it has not eased up. Mentioned it to MW, who said it was my pelvis softening, getting ready for the birth. I'm not in any real pain, it is just uncomfortable and at first slightly odd as knew I had not been near a bike. Hope your discomfort fades soon.

Emster I will keep my fingers crossed for you.....

weehector how are you today? I thought lower back pain was an indictation that labour could be starting????

Well I am still nesting. I have cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned again. All my stuff for the baby is ready apart from my birth plan, which I keep avoiding. I will get round to it, I just don't know why I am so reluctant. Maybe if I do it, then I'm totally ready and that would leave me with nothing to do, which is really scary for me. So used to being a career woman with lots to do, deadlines to meet and yet this one thing has me stumped. Oh well, I will try and make an effort later today.

Hope everyone has a great day

Chulita · 05/07/2010 08:14

This could go on for weeks though, so not that exciting really. I keep telling DH the baby's coming 'tomight' - one day it'll be true!

It is odd how it feels like your period coming though, although to be fair the after birth bleeding is kind of like all 9 months' worth in one go

OP posts:
Alicetheinvisible · 05/07/2010 08:34

Morning

Chulita how many weeks are you now? will keep everything crossed for you. Have you written a VBAC birth plan? Also, with a back to back baby, do they do anything? Sorry for all the questions!

I have been still stressing about stuff needing doing, but think it is my way of focusing on something other than the fact i will shortly have 2 children to look after! So much easier to focus on washing baby bedding etc

starshaker · 05/07/2010 09:06

Good morning ladies. Well last night i got a tape measure and measured my bump. 53 inches wtf lol. Im feeling rather large now

mrsZaC · 05/07/2010 09:07

wow so much to catch up on since yesterday too much for my preggers brain to handle so sorry if I've missed anyone off!

cherry thanks so much for sharing your birth story, I love how you were in total denial, probabably did you the world of good in the end! I LOL at you going for a shower so your hair looked nice for the birth So glad your little (or not so little) Corey was born safe n' sound and being a good little boy for mummy!

emster & littlemiss of your showers, emster saw your pics on fbook - looked picture perfect!

Sounds like some of you ladies's bodies are prepping for labour, I don't think it will be long till we get our 2nd arrival! muchos sympathy to those suffering with pains in the night and generally not sleeping full stop.

Back at work for another monday morning, very tired and woozy feeling today, however only 2 more Monday mornings left now - woo hoo!

pamplem0usse · 05/07/2010 09:47

cherry congratulations on little corey (great name!).....

My last working week this week.... yay!

Message to you all from Caz - thought it would be easiest to pass it on as is, rather than paraphrasing.

Belle's funeral was Monday just gone and was in a way very beautiful and we tried to
make it so special for her. Our memories of our pregnancy, and getting to know her
throughout our pregnancy were read out and how beautiful she was and our time with
her after she was born. We made it all about her and a lovely poem was read out by
her graveside, she is safe with Jesus now and we cling onto the hope that we?ll join
her too one day.

We can't thank you enough again for all your kindness towards us. DH and me think
the most appropriate charity would be SANDS for any left over funds. You sound as
if you have all been incredibly generous and we genuinely touched.

I hope you are all doing well as you reach the super heavily pregnant stages! Please
pass on my love to everyone.

thedogwalker · 05/07/2010 09:48

Now I know I'm in trouble. Just cleaning the windows and the little blue step thing that I use to stand on, well I just broke it.

I dread to think how much I weigh

thedogwalker · 05/07/2010 09:51

Just read the above thread, which wasn't on when i wrote my last one.

Thanks pample for passing on the message. Please let Caz know that we are all still thinking of her and DH.

Alicetheinvisible · 05/07/2010 09:55

Thanks Pample

Much love to you Caz if you are about

Chulita · 05/07/2010 10:16

alice I'm 37+5 and they don't do anything afaik for a back-to-back baby, you just know you're in for the long, painful haul (again).

Just went to the GPs to try and sort out DD's horrendous eczema and nearly passed out in the waiting room. Just felt really sick/dizzy and bleugh. I'm fast getting to the stage where I don't want to leave the house not good with a hyper-active toddler around!

caz love to you both if you're around xx.
Thanks for passing the message on pample

Chulita poor you. I live just behind town and i find walking into town very hard now. I help at the horses but walking into town and home again absolutely kills me!

I have started a thread in Childbirth about VBAC, induction, back to back and birthplan if you are interested in taking a look. If i know that baby is back to back and not moving i want an elcs.

Chulita · 05/07/2010 10:40

alice I think the difference is that it took me 10 months to be able to pick things up/exercise/push buggy without pain after DD and I'd pretty much do anything to avoid a cs. I'm quite happy to attempt a back-to-back labour. DD was face presenting, wedged at an angle and had her cord 3 times round her neck as well as being OP so I'm hoping that combination can't happen again [over-optimistic emoticon] I don't want to be induced and an elcs would make childcare easier but add the fact we're moving in 6-8 weeks, a cs would be a right pita. I don't want an OP labour but would choose that over a CS iyswim.

Trying to book a reflexology appt for Wed and have been oiling myself with Clary Sage - might get something going!

thanks pample for Caz's message, if you speak to her pass on my love.

chulita sorry to hear your feeling a little rough, hope you feel better soon.

babyducky · 05/07/2010 11:19

Sorry just a quick 1, congrats again cherry, lovely birth story

Thanks for passing on the message from caz pample

Xx

ElusiveMoose · 05/07/2010 11:59

Really quick post as I'm trying to get lots of stuff done while DS is at pre-school (first time of staying for lunch today, so we'll see how it goes!). Spent most of the morning at a very nice tile shop - just hoping we have enough time to make all our bathroom decisions before the baby arrives, as I doubt my brain will work terribly well for a while afterwards. My mum's coming for a couple of days this week, which I'm really looking forward to, as I should be able to get some stuff done (like packing my hospital bag - it's almost finished, honest ).

Anyway, I really just wanted to say huge congratulations Cherry - I love the name Corey, and it sounds like a wonderful birth experience.

Also, many thanks to Pample for passing on that lovely message from Caz.

Alicetheinvisible · 05/07/2010 12:01

Sounds fair enough Chulita I think because having a cs really holds no fear for me as i was lucky enough to recover stupidly quickly last time, i am less set on a VBAC, just wondering if perhaps i am going into this the wrong way iyswim?

Chulita · 05/07/2010 12:13

alice I think if I'd recovered quickly last time I'd be thinking exactly the same as you!

elusive pack that freaking bag! Time's ticking away
