Must admit i am thinking of having breakfast now too.

Vix poor you. Can you have a lie down at work at any point?

Sat on my gym ball last night for around and hour and felt less crampy, so i am sure i am uncomfortable because of bad posture/baby position. This time in the morning i need to slump though.

DH has just gone back to bed (He has been up since 3.30 for work)

soontobefatnat · 07/07/2010 06:04

Morning!! [tries to sound chipper and breezy] been awake since 4. Went to bed at midnight. Still got three weeks left at work... Grumble, grumble. I've no idea why I'm not sleeping - baby movey, but not so much that I couldn't drop off. I'm not ginormous yet either, so it's not that... Ah well. Might join you ladies for breakfast now, although perhaps I'd better get down on all fours for a bit first and try and flip this stubborn baby.

Ishe sorry to hear about your grandad.

And it's good to hear that some of you ladies are now simmering away nicely!

weehector · 07/07/2010 07:37

Dorset cereals flakes with cranberries, etc done AND...wait for it......a washing machine full of babygros & muslins.

See when I thought about being pregnant when I was 20 (and would rule the world)..I imagined I would be like the fragrant, linen clad, elegant lady who hung on the arm of the pilot from the Gillette ad. Or the husky, sexy mama in the Peugeot ad ('nice car, gonna show me what it can do'). Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself with a pair of pants round my head to tie my hair back, in a bungee jumping tshirt that doesn't cover my arse on all fours like a dog in the hall at 630am. Judging by the look on his face this am, I don't think it was quite Mr Weehector's vision of married life either.

girlsyearapart · 07/07/2010 07:42

morning all.

Amazingly after the plethora of allergic reactions dd2 showed yesterday she slept 11 hours straight and is looking fine today.

Her allergy is to egg in any shape or form, the egg they tested her with yesterday was scrambled egg.

So no cakes either.

isshe sorry to hear about your Grandad must be a tough time for you.

To those having raspberry leaf tea how many tablets a day are you taking?

weehector · 07/07/2010 07:53

Just read that again. Nothing kinky going on in the upstairs hall. Just throwing some yoga shapes to help ease my back

bouncingblueberries · 07/07/2010 08:18

Morning girls

Feel like I was up loads last night, but managed to fall asleep again quite quickly each time. No idea what was waking me up. Usual bladder/hot feet/wriggly baby I suspect.

weehector you are funny! I seem to have developed a rare talent for belching in the past few weeks, so I'll join you in the picture of elegance you so kindly painted! Really don't know how dh can resist me

37 weeks today, so operation big brother begins in earnest (baby, you have been evicted, please leave the big momma house). Planning on doing a spot more painting in the kitchen, then gp appointment at 1pm. Slightly irritated as it means I'll miss yoga (which is 12 - 2) grrr. Never mind.

Hope all of you with traverse/breech babies get them to move soon. I found it sooooo uncomfortable when this one was transverse.

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/07/2010 08:49

Vix - I feel your pain! Was on gym ball for ages last night and have been spending plenty of time on all fours but baby is unwilling to play ball. All we can do is keep trying, though, but transverse when you're 33 weeks plus is no picnic

Can I join the wide awake and sleepless club?? I live in close proximity to a bonfire (if you haven't visited Belfast in July, you really must come sometime lol) and a common pass time in the days coming up to 11th July (when all the bonfires get lit) is for rival gangs to set each other's bonfires on fire. So far, so stupid. They did it this morning at 5:15am, fire brigade arrived, spent hours getting blaze under control. Really noisy = pain in the ass. I am bloody exhausted now and I have loads of work to get done this morning

And washing/tidying up to do. Etc etc.

Ho hum.

Hope everyone has a good day today

mrsZaC · 07/07/2010 09:08

owh ladies, you crack me up! I think some of you are going well slightly crazy.. but I would expect that for early morning posts, can't belive what time some of you were posting at! just wait till I'm on here, last to go at 5am, there will be nobody for me to chat to!!

hello holly & welcome to the mad house

girls poor DD2 and her eggs, that must be worrying for you aswell, especially eating out etc. Hopefully she'll grow out of it soon.

neez I'm sure there will be nothing to worry about re: glucose, just a little blip

elusive well done for packing your bag! I made a start on mine yesterday, whilst I was supposed to be resting (no good at that) taking great satisfaction in potting mini face creams, body butters, shower gels etc.

LOL @weehector love your description of your ideal women & your current state, lovit! poor DH gets similar treatment so your most definetely not alone!

I know this has been done 1000 times but can someone post a hospital bag list for me? I feel like I'm going a bit over the top as I have NO idea whether i'm being to prepared or not prepared enough, I need some wisdom from you ladies who have produced before

mrsZaC · 07/07/2010 09:14

oops forgot to say..

muchos sympathy for those trying to turn stubborn babies and for those having sleepless nights, I'm averaging waking up every 2 hrs but this had become normal and I usually drift back off again, this morning I woke up at 4am and I swear that the baby was having a party in my belly, never felt it so active before!

babyducky · 07/07/2010 10:00

just need to put in my notes & make up!

babyducky · 07/07/2010 10:06

I've tried to cut it down, last time i took way too much, I had a huge suitcase & 2 bags!

This time its fitted into a small case for me & a bag for baby.

I would take less than that if we had a car & I could just leave some in the boot but as we will be getting a lift I need to have it all with me.

weehector · 07/07/2010 10:35

LittleMiss Oh, no...Belfast at this time of year. I'm a Stranraer girl and my uncle (well, my dad basically) was a captain on the Stranraer-Belfast ferries..the stories I've heard...on Old Firm days, he used to take the stabilisers in so the boat would roll so the nutjobs would be too seasick & unsteady on their feet to fight. Must be mental.

isheisnthe · 07/07/2010 10:36

Thanks for you kind wishes re my grandad, he was stolen from us years ago by alzheimers - we haven,t seen any flashes of recognition for a long time and he had got so thin and frail it was horrible to see him like that.

I am suffering with sleeplessness, been having regular pains as well - getting worried as I am only 34 weeks - it seems I have forgetten everything from my previous two pregnancies!

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/07/2010 10:47

weehector - your poor uncle, that boat is no joke on an old firm day! i went to uni in glasgow and i used to always try and make sure to get the boat back home on football free days!!

babyducky - I'm finishing up my hospital bag at the minute, just a few things I keep meaning to bung in there like a couple more cereal bars and a towel. But since most of the key things are in there now I'm hoping when I go into labour I'll still have the presence of mind to grab anything that's missing. Hopefully. Probably. Err...we'll see!!

Not able to concentrate at all today - lack of sleep making my head very foggy. I can def foresee what I'll be like when the baby has me up all night lol

ElusiveMoose · 07/07/2010 11:04

Really quick one about hospital bags - one of the things I suddenly remembered that I found invaluable last time was a notepad and pen. Especially for first timers - your hospital may well do little sessions with you about looking after the baby, and it's helpful to be able to write stuff down (e.g. phone numbers, times and dates of clinics etc). Plus I found I'd remember something at 3am that I wanted to ask DH to bring in for me, so I just kept a little ongoing list so that I didn't forget stuff (I love lists ).

mrsZaC · 07/07/2010 11:43

cheers ducky now printed so I will have to tick off as I go.

Another question, can you use 'night' sanitary towels or is it better to use the supermarket own brand maternity ones?

weehector my DH is from Stranraer and used to work on the S-B ferry for a while, he might know your dad/uncle - how strange!

CherryPie3 · 07/07/2010 11:58

Hiya lovelies

Rare minute of peace in Cherryland so thought I'd come see what you're all up to. I really can't personalize tho as theres a certain baby due to wake up any second for his feed. Breastfeeding going really well still although had a really horrendous night with him on Sunday - it was the 3 day growth spurt and he just didn't stop feeding all night!! All fine again now tho - thank goodness!
Just waiting for mw to come and weigh him and do his heel prick test . Hate the heel prick test - I cry as much as the babies do! I have to go take ds1 to school too so I hope she doesn't come while I'm out.

Corey is happily asleep in his pram right now - we never did buy that moses basket from John Lewis, can't see the point now cos he sleeps so well in the pram. Not so much at night...

Anyhow, as predicted, my newest little man is ready for some 'booby juice' as dd and ds1 call it . Better go fulfil my motherly duty.

Hope you're all well and not too uncomfortable xxxx

babyducky · 07/07/2010 12:04

sorry to hear about your grandad isheisnthe

mrszac- I'm sure I have heard that you shouldnt use normal sanitary towels, something about getting an infection I think, sorry I cant remember!

Think maternity ones are prob better though as they are so thick so you are more cushioned, I have got tesco ones which I found to be the best last time.
Make sure you buy loads!

Nice to hear from you cherrypie

Hope the heel prick test goes ok.

Chulita · 07/07/2010 13:02

Argh! On the July thread someone due after me just had her baby

Sorry abour your grandad isheisnthe.

weehector rofl @ your description Sorry I wasn't up for a picnic, I refuse to turn the laptop on at night if I can't sleep cos I reckon it makes things worse! Might all change as time goes on though.

I'm off for reflexology in a mo, so fed up of being huge and braxton hicksy - it feels like my stomach is permanently tensed. Went to have the heartbeat checked again this morning though and zilch on the uterine activity Still...could start up anytime and I can't be pregnant forever right?

OP posts:
mrsZaC · 07/07/2010 13:17

isheisnthe so sorry to hear about your grandad, and that he had been poorly for some time, least he's a peace now.

thanks babyducky such plesant looking things aren't they (maternity towels) I'm a tampon girl myself but I'm 100% sure they won't make them big enough - can you imagine!!

cherry lovely to hear from you, glad your little corey is doing well if a little hungry! hope his heel prick test goes ok.

VirtualPA · 07/07/2010 14:04

Hi, Can I join this thread?
Only Just realised It existed.

I am 24, and am expecting my first child on the 3rd of Aug. She will be called Hannah May.

Thanks

bouncingblueberries · 07/07/2010 14:45

OK, I'm officially freaked out. Just been to seen gp for antenatal check. At my last gp check-up he mentioned that one of my blood tests had come back slightly raised (apparently my blood cells are rather large). He decided it was nothing to worry about though, as they were on the large side of normal at my booking-in bloods.

Today, I saw a different gp, who flagged the blood test result again. There was just something in the way she spoke about it that started to freak me out. So I asked her what the implications were, should I go for another blood test etc. But she wouldn't answer me directly. She said that your red blood cells can become enlarged if you are B12 or folate deficient - so immediately I started panicking, thinking all sorts about spina bifida etc. I wasn't that great at taking my pregnacare in the first trimester as it just used to make me sick. Now I'm a wee bit worried that my slackness on the pregnancy vitamin pill front has caused some damage

The gp did try to reassure me and told me it's most likely to just be 'one of those things', a blip or possibly linked to thyroid function.

I just feel a bit deflated now though. Want to see this baby in the flesh and make sure all fingers and toes and eyelashes and dimples present and correct.

I know I'm being neurotic. Surely something would have been picked up on the scans, right?

LittleMissSnowShine · 07/07/2010 15:08

blueberries - Just how I felt after seeing MW on Monday. GPs/MWs/consultants really ought to be more aware of the anxiety throw away comments can cause us! If your GP thinks that any irregularity in your blood tests has been caused 'by just one of those things' and had no further suggestions as to a diagnosis or treatment she shouldn't have mentioned it to you. Try not to worry, I'm sure any problems would have been picked up on a scan. Poor you!

Welcome virtualPA!

Not to worry Chulita, won't be long now. Spicy curry take away dinner tonight for you

Been bouncing on birth ball all day today! baby's head is now somewhere near bottom right and feet are pointing kind of upwards. it's more oblique than anything but def improvement on breech. at least it's reminding LO they still do have some room to move around in there and there's still time to get into the right position!!

sparkle101 · 07/07/2010 15:17

Please can I join the braxton hicks ladies - last two days have been bonkers. Started at 6 yesterday morning and carried on throughout the day - stopped at about midnight.

Thought baby may fall out when wandering round the shops earlier - severe lady bit pain (sorry TMI) and still happening now.

First antenatal class tonight so lets hope baby starts behiving itself.

littlemiss - totally agree with your comment re: 'professionals comments' and trying to understand a little better what mess they cause! Have had the same throughout and thought it was just be being super pregnancy sensitive!

LCRLCR · 07/07/2010 15:57

So ove rhte past few weeks, baby gone from breech to transverse to correct position to....breech again. Arrrgh! Lots of scary talk from MW this morning of manually turning baby with me on a drip to relax utereus possibly followed by CS if no succelssful....feel gutted. I know at 34 weeks LO may still turn but I've been really mentally prepping for labour and birth, I insanely will feel cheated if it's a quick op instead....plus I am scared of being cut open and the recovery from a section

blueberries call your practise and ask for a chat, tell them you're uneasy and would like reassurance / clarification. Please do it, otherwise you'll torment yourself x
