Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

Gah not twins! For some reason the idea popped into my head today that I could go to the 12 scan and find out there was more than one... I swore loudly and involuntarily

Aren't you lot good, craving fruit juice and cherry toms! I just want fatty foods like roast potatoes, dauphinoise potatoes, crisps... so potatoes really! S'pose they're still a vegetable even when covered in cream/lard

Also I want meat. Steak or maybe a cold chicken drumstick to gnaw. I am trying to indulge myself on the grounds that my body will know what it needs

snapdragon3 · 01/07/2010 19:12

Hahahahaha. The twins thing! DD has being saying for about 6 months that mummy has two babies in her tummy - a boy and a girl. If we find two babies on the scan I'm not sure which will be scarier; the prospect of having 4 kids under 4 or the fact that she predicted it

Mum2G · 01/07/2010 19:16

My second favourite current activity (apart from compulsive knicker checking lol) is thinking about food.

I am with you on the carb cravings SplitI am going to try and eat more low gi alternatives as when i not feeling sick, i am constantly wanting to snack, that said i am sending dh out for a chinese tonight probably will only manage to eat half of what i normally do though, i can see why they say little and often,

I have done very well so far and managed to bypass the good stuff and had apples and sunflower seeds for snacks - need to find some ideas for others, i think if anything will keep me on the straight and narrow it will be variety [ooh err lol!] apparently walnuts are good for early pregancy, i don't like dried fruits, If anyone got any good ideas for novel and 'healthy' snacks to carry around apart from fruit, i would love to hear them.

lindamgw · 01/07/2010 19:42

Hello future March Mummies! Hope you are all well.

Bit of advice needed please. I am not due my AF for another week (28days would be this sunday, but last month it was 35 days) but I am very very very thirsty, and thus needing the toilet A LOT!!! I also had chilli burgers 2 days ago and they were INCREDIBLY spicey, and yet I put no more chillies in than usual and my husband said they were the same as ever. I also am tired and currently feeling a bit queasy after smelling something unpleasant - I won't disturb you with details.

Not sure what to make of it all... am I thirsty because it's hot? Even after I've downed a pint of water I could still drink more... or is it something else???

I used the due date calculator and put in last AF date with 35 days as measurement and conception date turned out to be the 27th which is exactly right!

Haven't done a test... don't wanna tempt fate! Does it sound feasible or am I mad????

Thanks!

Celia76 · 01/07/2010 21:59

lindmgw - DO A TEST! It's the only way you'll know for sure.

GOOD LUCK!

BUnderTheBonnet · 01/07/2010 22:02

POAS linda! It's the only way you'll know. Go on! We all did.... Nothing like a bit of peer pressure, is there? Good luck.

Does anyone remember the old advert for Skol lager? The viking dude just chanted "Skol Skol Skol Skol Skol Skol Skol Skol" over and over again..???? Well, I'm a bit like that at the moment, only it's "Food Food Food Food Food Food Food Food" And if I'm not eating I'm obsessively knicker checking. Was that tmi? Sorry.

All you other Ladies have me worried, I've had no food cravings or sickness when should this kick in? (Can't believe I really want to feel sick). I never thought getting pregnant would be so worrying!

jeffily · 01/07/2010 22:27

Hello all and welcome and congrats to anyone I haven't already greeted!
I am still not feeling too pg, though tired and hungry and thirsty lots. This is probably due as much to being lazy and greedy as the new squirt growing in me!
We're off camping this weekend for my birthday with lots of family and friends- there's bound to be lots of booze flowing and potential questions as to why I am not drinking my usual amount (not masses recently as been very good and held off to aid the baby getting process!). Any good tips for non incriminating ways to answer that one?
Mum2G- a snack I find very moreish and delicious is toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds with vegetable crisps crumbled into them- yum! Also I sometimes add a few splashes of soy sauce to the frying pan as I am toasting them, just at the end to make them all salty and yum. In fact, I might go and make some in a sec.....!
I was also addicted to homemade popcorn in my last pg. Not done it yet this time, the S&V pringles are still winning out in the Jeffily household!
MMMB- I really wanted a home birth last time, but with DD being 6 wks early ended up having to have her in hosp. My DH was not sure either, so I did loads of research and statistically a homebirth is just as safe and potentially safer than hospital birth. A very compelling argument that convinced my DH was that if you are in the hospital you sometimes need to make a fuss before anyone comes to see you, whereas if you are at home and they decide you need to go in, they'll be expecting you, and you'll get attention straight away.
B- I'm a teacher too, are you finding it totally shattering with the heat and the kids? I let my class take off their shoes and socks this afternoon it was so hot- then seriously regretted it as the reek of almost-in-puberty feet filled the room! Am sure my sense of smell is getting more finely tuned.

To bed, to bed. DD still wakes me at 5am for a BF, so need to get the hours in first. Have a nice wknd all!

Linda - Test test.

Question then based on Linda's post.

My cycle is always 28 days but last month it was 40 days so should I be working out due date based on usual 28 or unusual 40 days (I have had two much longer cycles in the past 6 months or so).

Hello to all and welcome to new ladies.

superpenguin · 02/07/2010 09:20

hello all.
woke up this morning feeling slightly queasy and my boobs hurt!
did another test and still only a faint line, but a line is a line.

Linda if you are not sure for another week a test might not tell you yet. I would wait a few days and then test.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/07/2010 09:21

Those first repsonse ones are supposed to tell you early - not sure if they actually work though.

Superpenguin - lol at still testing. I did contemplate getting a digital one yesterday so that I wouldnt have to check for the line but would just see the word.

specialsmasher · 02/07/2010 09:36

So how old is everyone? Am I the old lady of the group at 39? ?

mendipgirl · 02/07/2010 09:48

Hello all, have been lurking for a week, but might as well join now, pg with baby #2. Very excited, feel less nervous this time, spent the last pregnancy just waiting for something to go wrong, but am determined to relax and just enjoy this one! Just phoned the midwife to book in, got an appointment in 3 weeks. Desperate to tell people but my DH wants to wait till the 12 weeks, and I think he is right but I just feel like shouting it from the rooftops!

Specialsmasher, I'm 37, will be 38 when this one is born!

bluebeach · 02/07/2010 10:10

Jeffily glad your symptoms sound the same as mine as we have the same EDD! Not sure how to deal with not drinking, it was hard enough when TTC, I suddenly became the designated driver ALL the time. Not been faced with a social occasion where I can't drink at all yet so any tips would be good! I'm also a crap liar so if someone asked me why I wasn't drinking I would crumble for sure...need to arm myself with a response!

mendipgir Hi and massive congratulations, I feel like you did with your first, DP and I are very careful not get excited, we still talk about it like we are still TTC and can't bear to get our hopes up.

Oh, and I'm 29 and 6 days old!

Hattie05 · 02/07/2010 10:50

Hi everyone.

Deliah i hope you are ok. several of my friends have bled but gone on to have their babies fine. It dosen't help though i know! I prepared myself yesterday for the worst as i lost a bit of blood stained discharge but nothing more since so its just a waiting game.............

splitthetea my last two were home births and both labours lasted under 2 hours. Whereas my first born in hospital took 6. Agreeably subsequent births are quicker but midwife did feel that had i had to travel and settle into a new clinical environment mid labour it would have slowed things down a lot. My dp wasn't keen on the idea either, but he had a good chat with the midwife and reassured himself and now he is totally for home births too.

Hattie05 · 02/07/2010 10:56

oooops

I just read last thursday's posts thinking they were yesterdays.

Deliah i've just re read properly and seen that you have miscarried i'm so sorry and did not mean to be insensitive!

Celia76 · 02/07/2010 10:58

Jeffily - not drinking is tricky isn't it?! I gave up a year ago so no-one is questioning me which is lovely! I'd avoid going down the "I'm on antibiotics" route as it's become a bit of a cliche. How about you're not drinking because you're recovering from a big weekend, or you want to lose a few pounds to look even more fab in your bikini!

mendipgir - welcome to the group. I agree it's hard to sit back and enjoy the early days. It's easier when it's not your first though isn't it - there isn't the time to sit and ponder things like with our first pregnancies!!

I recently turned 34, so will be 34 when this baby arrives (all being well!).

mendipgirl · 02/07/2010 11:02

bluebeach, I know exactly how you feel, but I think I decided with this one that I will be gutted if anything goes wrong and I can't not get my hopes up, so I might as well enjoy it. I think a second one is easier from that point of view, but you also know what you are letting yourslef in for which can be a bit scary!!

snapdragon3 · 02/07/2010 11:04

Linda I would wait a few days before testing. I think I spent a small fortune on tests in the last month or so and it becomes a compulsion! But heck, you know, you could stock up your bathroom cupboard and do one alternate days from now...I hate that waiting!

The not drinking - I'm just saying I'm on a health kick and trying not to drink for at least 3 months. I have done it before so it does have a bit of credence. Or stick with tonic or coke which could have a spirit in it for all anybody else knows (just be sure to get your own!).

Bluebeach Some people get no cravings at all. Some people just get aversions to things. Some people just fancy things and must have it because when you're pregnant, you should have what you want . So don't be worrying too much about that. Although you are right, pregnancy can really be a heck of a rollercoaster ride. Once you're on it a whole world of excitement and anxiety becomes yours!
Mendipgirl congrats to you! A very familiar sentiment.

I'll be 38 in September...

snapdragon3 · 02/07/2010 11:14

BTW, am I the only person guiltily clicking on people's screen names to "get to know them" a bit better?

EvianBaby · 02/07/2010 11:23

Hello
Can I join you all? I've just done a test and to my (huge) surprise it's positive! I'm slightly shocked and probably a bit delirious! I'm not sure whether i've done the right thing but noticed that mendipgirl (who i think was the last 'new' person) updated the stats so I have attempted to do the same!
