Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

Welcome & congratulations to Mum2G and Hattie!

Yes Mum2G I have some days where I have felt like an eating machine. Yesterday for example I ate my dinner and within 30 mins was hungry so had a bowl of branflakes .

This morning however I felt rather queasy so didn't stock up so well!

It's a bit weird knowing I'm pg and not really being "supposed" to tell anyone because it's all I'm thinking about. Well, that and trying not to faint/coping with the periodic nausea...

specialsmasher · 30/06/2010 20:35

Hello all,

Went for a swim today and am knackered! Hoping it will help me to sleep, as I have been sleeping so badly - no more than four hours last night, and had to teach all day today feeling rubbish...

Still excited to be 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant though!

BUnderTheBonnet · 30/06/2010 22:07

Hi,

I'm planning another homebirth hattie - wouldn't do anything else. Bit of a fanatic....

I travelled at 11 weeks pg earlier this year - where are you going? I had the worst case scenario and had a miscarriage while I was away. It all went very badly, and I was airlifted to hospital, emergency surgery, several days hospitalisation, the lot. Didn't cost a penny because it was covered by the EHIC. It was pretty crap not really knowing what was going on with the language barrier, but I have to say the care I received was first class. It wouldn't put me off travelling again whilst pg. I kind of have the opposite problem this time - if all goes well I will be travelling back from holiday when I'm 32 weeks - just inside the airline's deadline for flying! That was lucky...

I am eating constantly, and still feeling a bit faint. Can this be the reason I look 5 months pregnant already? No, seriously, I do.... I'm quite worried about it!

Madasajarofwasps · 30/06/2010 22:11

Well done on the swim special. I managed a 6 mile run and didn't feel too bad considering I havent run for over a week. It was a bit warm and I thought I might chuck up at one point after going up a hill. I felt better for it when I got home tho . I might need to invest in a better bra, not something I have needed to worry about before IYSWIM! I need some sleep too, I keep waking really early and by the time I have managed to nod off again the dc come and jump on me!

Will be 5 weeks at the weekend. Might tell a few more people when I am 8 weeks.

Take care all x

Madasajarofwasps · 30/06/2010 22:16

x-posts B - what an awful and stressful thing to happen on holiday. Travelling late is quite brave - but then i am a complete whoopsy when it comes to flying so I think flying at any time is a brave thing to do .

I think I am showing a lot already too - clothes are quite tight, but I think it might just be trapped wind!! Trying not to think it might be twins !!

BUnderTheBonnet · 30/06/2010 22:27

Lol madas the wind is anything but trapped chez moi!

Didn't say in my last post: we told our DD at 11 weeks last time because we were having a family gathering and I had an unmissable bump, and someone was bound to say something. Of course I misscarried soon afterwards and she was completely devastated, and still says absolutely heartbreaking things every so often. We won't tell her this time until after the scan. I do want to tell her then, because she'll be so excited and happy about it. We've told other family members already, and they know they shouldn't mention it to DD, so I don't have to worry about indiscreet comments on my bump (which does actually exist - I'm not being dramatic ).

I love flying madas - I love the idea of a swimming pool at 32 weeks and more importantly not having Xmas with the in-laws even more! We're going away in October too - quite the jet-setters... Must invest in a gorgeous maternity bikini swimming costume (who am I kidding, really?)

OP posts:
Madasajarofwasps · 30/06/2010 22:49

Ha ha B the thought of spending Christmas at the in laws would get me on a plane in no time

Hattie05 · 01/07/2010 02:25

Bunder bonnet Sorry to hear what happened to you. I'm going to Gran Canaria and yes its the costs that would worry me. If i'm going to miscarry it could happen anywhere iykwim.
I flew at 32 weeks last year (omg thats so scary to think it was only last year i was pregnant!!!!!) You're right best thing ever getting a brown bump and enjoying swimming and relaxing every day. I got quite seriously questioned at the airport on my return as i had a huge bump and the staff weren't too keen to let me on though.

snapdragon - yes i think you're right - i don't have cramps either. thx!

I'm so scared of small age gap pls pls someone else join here with small age gap !!

Celia76 · 01/07/2010 06:51

Hattie05 - I don't have a close age gap with mine but a very good NCT buddy did - conceived DS2 when DS1 was 5 months old. The first few weeks were tough but her boys are completely devoted to each other, entertain each other non-stop and are fantastic friends! Go with the flow, don't expect too much of yourself and enjoy this special time!

I've booked a viability scan for the 14th when I'll be 7 weeks as I have a day off work! Going on my own as DH working. Sure I'll get more nervous as the date gets closer!

BUnderTheBonnet · 01/07/2010 07:06

Yay for you Celia! I think I'll leave my early scan till slightly later, or I'll only start worrying again straight afterwards. I can't get a day off work without raising eyebrows either (I'm a teacher) so I might wait till the beginning of the holiday when I'll be 8-9 weeks. Can you get someone else to go with you, or is that a bit weird?

OP posts:
snapdragon3 · 01/07/2010 08:22

Hattie I know a few people with very small age gaps between kids. My DD was 18 months when DS was born. In some ways, it's actually easier because in my experience, she was too young to feel jealousy on the arrival of a new baby - and my friends would go along with that too. They don't really remember it any other way iyswim. Also, they like similar stories so it can be easy to entertain them in that respect. Yes, it can be hard work because the flip side is, they are too young to reason with, can't wait for anything blah blah. But I think any age gap can produce different challenges.

I got round the logistical difficulties by putting DS in a wrap sling for about the first 6 months of his life . That way, he was happy being permanently cuddled, I could BF him on the hoof and still chase after a very young toddler DD. It also meant I could cook, and do chores and still enjoy my snuggles. Other friends found other ways round that. I do remember DD picking DS up by his head when he was about 4 weeks old which was a scary moment, but these kids are more robust than we give them credit for! People told me having 2 in nappies would be a nightmare, but actually it was okay. They pooed in sync after a while

Mum2G · 01/07/2010 08:46

Sorry about your loss whilst on holiday BUnderBonnet, what is a viability scan?

How early do bumps show after first pregnancy? I can't wait for mine to show i think it will make it seem more real ( an much nicer than spots/sickness lol), any history of multiples in your family BUnder Bonnet?

Hattie05 I would say get the nappies and sleepness nights over with now lol (unless you go on to have more of course), i am sure they will be great company for each other!

Madaasajarofwasps - I am with you re the in laws

mixedmamameansbusiness · 01/07/2010 09:20

Morning ladies,

BUB - sorry about that but glad you got great care, it really could go the other way when abroad couldnt it.

I flew with DS1 about 5 times in the period of 3 weeks for our wedding then on honeymoon and the honeymoon was longhaul... I think I was 14 weeks at the start.

Well have told my dad now, whose first repsonse was "how many are you planning on having" as if I have 8 children and just told him about no. 9. Anyhow, he seemed a bit more pleased than mum especially as he never wanted me to go back to work int he first place and now he is satisfied that with 3 it is probably highly unlikely.

Called the hosp and self referred myself. A MW is callling me sometime this week or next for my booking in. That first GP appointment is truly the most pointless appointment of them all.

Approached the home birth topic with DH again. He cant really give a clear reason why he doesnt want to do it. It is something I am going to mention to the MW anyway along with birthing centre as another option and just see where we go. I have ages to convince him.

I spoke to DS1 nursery yesterday about when DS2 would start and have just found out that he wont actually start until April - I had thought it would be January as he is literally a few days after the schools start back. I was really hoping to finish work for Xmas, settle him at nursery and have a few weeks to get some exam revision as I dont expect to have much time once baby comes. Cant really stretch to paying for a nursery place but might see if we can manage 1 day a week somewhere.

Anyway hello to all, hugs to those feeling rubbish and I hope that since it has started early this means it will ease off sooner.

BTW is it worth us sharing roughly (city wise) we all live in our stats for the sake of possible future meet ups

superpenguin · 01/07/2010 13:02

Hello ladies, can I join please?
I got a very faint positive line this morning, don't quite believe it yet though!

This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea about anything!

My calculations show due date of 7/3/11 but I may of course be wrong!

snapdragon3 · 01/07/2010 13:15

Hi Superpenguin. Congrats to you! It's sooo exciting.

Just got a letter from the hospital to say my dating scan is on 13-7-10 at 9am! I will finally know a due date. Will you make me leave if I'm due early Feb instead of early March?!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 01/07/2010 13:24

Snapdragon - you are part of our family now... I will lock the doors Plus it will be the end of Feb right? So almost March anyway.

That is really soon for the scan... how exciting. That is the first scan I think.

sunchild77 · 01/07/2010 14:14

Snapdragon - you better not go anywhere!

Girls Ive just woken up from a 2 hour nap (most unlike me) Im a stay at home mum, and its the start of the school hols here (scotland) DD is at her friends and DS had gone for a nap, so I joined him! LOL Am 5 weeks today....bit a nausea today, but feeling fine really, just could sleep for scotland.

Hattie there is 21 mons between my two so not THAT close I know! I would say honestly for me the first bit was the hardest, not the 2 in nappies bit, but the fact the DD couldnt walk very far and was still quite needy. I was Breast feeding and living in a new area with no family or support nearby. DD paid DS no attention really until he started crawling and stealing her toys! HOwever, they can be really cute together now(DD dressing him up as tinkerbell) Or totally hating each other, fighting and stuff. Its never quiet!! Like snapdragon says slings are amazing, oh and I LOVED my phil and teds buggy.

mum2g is basically a very early scan to check that the fetus is there and developing in the right place etc.

Anyone got cravings?? I just seem to crave fruit juice...!

specialsmasher · 01/07/2010 14:19

I'm not even allowed to make a booking appointment! Just phoned up, and was told to phone back when 7 weeks.

Harumph!

snapdragon3 · 01/07/2010 14:25

According to the MW and my very weird dates, I could be as much as 8+3 but all the tests I did at the end of may/early June were negative....we'll see. But thank you for locking the doors

Sunchild I am craving ice cold drinks. As soon as they lose that icy coldness, I don't want them. Big faves are ice cold tonic water with frozen slices of lemon and ice cold alcohol free lager in the evening. Sounds bonkers but I have to put drinks in the freezer until they start to frost up! Plus, having alcohol free lager makes me feel like I'm having a treat, too because some of them actually taste really good.

Waiting for the other cravings/aversions - it's so funny! With DD I could hardly sip water without chundering until 42 weeks but with DS I wanted steak every day! I was such a red meat fiend.

bluebeach · 01/07/2010 15:52

Hi all, have been reading this thread from the 28th so think it's about time I showed myself... (shy wave).
Tested positive on Monday after my birthday weekend (luckily only 2 bottles of beer consumed..could have been a lot worse!)
I'm a total baby novice so with you Superpenguin

My due date is 04/03/11 though it hasn't sunk in, probably a good think as its still early days.

Anyways nice to meet you all

Celia76 · 01/07/2010 16:17

BUnderTheBonnet - I was in 2 minds about holding off the viability scan, but my 7 week one with DS2 was fab. I'm prepared that they might send me away to come back in a week (and pay another £120!!) if a heartbeat isn't obvious. I know what you mean about getting time off work!

Mum2G - the viability scan basically checks how many babies are in there, looks for a heartbeat(s) - in essence is the pregnancy 'viable' and will date the pregnancy, just realised Sunchild has already answered that, sorry. I know some NHS hospitals in London carry them out too if Mums are worried.

Snapdragon - definitely stay on this board! I'll almost certainly be having a section late Feb, so you've got company!!

spilttheteaagain · 01/07/2010 17:03

Hurrah bluebeach and superpenguin! I'm a first timer too so it's nice to have others in the same boat.

I think I will rapidly de-cluelessify myself as I like to obsessively read up on these sorts of things. I became a conception boffin

I reckon I'm 5 weeks tomorrow!

BUnderTheBonnet · 01/07/2010 17:54

Hi bluebeach and superpenguin! Go ahead and add your stats!

Who mentioned twins! I'm not having them. I just have a flabby a baby accomodating stomach! Someone else volunteer quick to take our twins statistic for us....

OP posts:
Madasajarofwasps · 01/07/2010 18:14

Take care x

PS if anyone is updating the stats, I reside near Worcester.
