Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

Morning ladies, well it's raining here and if I move too fast I feel ready to vomit, though with the stress of the waiting game I quite like it Hoping it's not my body playing a trick on me, guess I'll know all soon enough!

DS1 is playing at my mums for a bit, ds2 is napping and I'm munching my way through some grapes while catching up on some programmes.

I'm also in the going for a pee then laying awake for hours club, it's so annoying! Last night I ended up coming down to the squishy sofa and watching BBC News 24 until I drifted off again as I didn't want to keep DH awake.

Can I ask if any ladies here will be having a c-section?

NoSleepTonight · 30/07/2010 11:40

Ooh, sfb - what do you do?

shitforbrains · 30/07/2010 11:48

Nosleep I will be having a C-section.

My last pregnancy ended in an abruption so I am firmly in the high risk category.

I work mon-fri 9-5 for a very famous news broadcaster, I do their websites, and at weekends I work as a not so famous wedding and family portrait photographer.

coraltoes · 30/07/2010 12:06

oh SFB you have my sympathies, sounds like a manic summer, but i think you're being sensible in taking less bookings going forward...you need to focus on yourself really and not get too tired out.

I must admit i'm relieved everyone else is having the insomnia! It is so good knowing my symptoms aren't totally off the wall.

anyone working near a pret- the swedish meatball wrap is amazing for MS. has sorted me out today a real treat!

gemmasetters · 30/07/2010 12:28

I hit rock bottom yesterday. Hardly ate anything all morning as just couldn't bring myself too (retching etc) and I think the low blood sugar got to me (that and my boss discussing gutting fish minutes after I told him I was really not feeling well). Ended up leaving work early in tears, but on the plus side I went shopping and bought 2 pairs of maternity trousers for £12 (!!) and a rather nice cheese and onion pasty and felt a bit better after that. Have given up giving up milk and actually feel vaguely human today, if a little pukey. Despite my darling mother reminding me that last time my morning sickness went on for months after the first 12 weeks!

rain1014 · 30/07/2010 12:29

Is anybody else showing early?

Madasajarofwasps · 30/07/2010 13:16

Oh I see sfb, hmm yes asking for people to move weddings might result is a loss of business for you. Just take it one step at a time - you are offically superwoman .

Rain I am 9 weeks and showing nicely - baggy tops and leggings for me at the moment. I will have to dig out the maternity clothes from the loft soon! My 5yo dd patted my tummy and said, "you tummy is bigger already, will teh baby come out soon" We live opposite her school and the head was in yesterday, and as my dd cycled past she shouted "mummy has a baby in her tummy" . I am pleased that I should have had a scan by the time term starts .

snapdragon3 · 30/07/2010 13:30

Nosleep I know this'll sound bad but kinda glad your symptoms are going strong. It does seem reassuring and I have everything crossed for you. I will likely have a C Section, having had 2 previously (but can't help indulging VBA2C fantasies....we'll see). I will decide nearer the time, depending on what seems to be happening.

SFB Blimey - no wonder you're knackered! Peak season!

Madas My DD has also taken to telling random strangers that mummy has a big baby tummy! She keeps asking how big the baby is so I've been showing her the images online of how the baby forms. She's fascinated!

Gemma bleughh. gutting fish - oh God, that's enough to set anyone off! Lets hope this time the sickies do finish at the right time! If I go to 42.5 weeks puking this time I will be very unimpressed! With DS it only went to 14 weeks, so hopefully that'll be more like it. Fingers crossed yours packs in very soon

Rain oh yes, showing here! I care not anymore and have already resorted to maternity stuff. I'm nearly 10 weeks and I swear I look about 5 months now. Damn slack belly....

sam26oscar · 30/07/2010 13:42

i have yet to be told i have a fat tummy by my DS1 yet!! Tbf we haven't told him yet as no-one knows (only told dh last week after 8 weeks viability scan) if Ds knew he would tell evryone and i'm not ready yet after the oscar scan then i will tell close family. hoping to wait until kids go back to school but have a feeling nature will take care of the problem am a 12 and at the moment waistband cutting into mebigtime have bought maternity jeans from ebay not spending enormous amounts on clothes, all my maternity clothes went into recyling didn't think would have another one!!Still feeling nauseaous but seems to start later by lunchtime but going on til bed just wjen i want to go to sleep i lie there thinking am i aren't i going to puke

NoSleepTonight · 30/07/2010 13:51

Thanks snap I know what you mean

I also keep having the VBAC fantasy, think my consultant may have other ideas, we'll see.

DS1 was a very long, very difficult labour at 41weeks, I couldn't dilate, he was back to back, stuck shoulder, he'd opened his bowels, heart rate kept dropping, etc etc, resulting in 8 days in intensive care. I went in with full blown contractions on Tuesday at 10am, had him at 12:25pm Thursday. Though this was in Germany and things are done very differently there. In the UK I'd have been taken for a c-section.

DS2 was a c-section at 36.5, he had been breech until 35.4, and I was already signed for a c-secion for that and as they were unsure what would happen - so for just incase really. I went in expecting to be told to go away and it was nothing - only to be scanned, told he was back to back and head was in a weird position (like they think his brother was, hence getting stuck)and told me I was to have a c-section as they weren't risking labour. I was in theatre within the hour with DH only just making it!

So this time, they think I should have an automatic c-section as my babies obviously lie in a weird position due to some unknown reason.. But I can't help wanting to avoid it, what with ds1 to get to school, ds2 will be 22/23months, and a newborn. Major surgery I could do without!!

shitforbrains · 30/07/2010 14:18

Rain, I am the size of a horse already.
Not in maternity wear (I SHALL RESIST!) but feeling very uncomfortable in normal clothes!

I am not superwoman, I am stupidwoman. In my wisdom I set up a photography business whilst on maternity leave, thinking, 'Hell yeah I can juggle the 9-5 and my own business', when the reality is I am just knackered and poor DH picks up the pieces.

And yes, to echo snapdragon3, the crappier you feel, the better (in terms of Bean stickiness!)

rain1014 · 30/07/2010 16:12

Im 7 weeks and look like I did at 4-5months with my first, I got big quick with my second daughter.
I have maternity jeans but they are to big and dont want to buy size10 maternity jeans just so that they fit me now. Im always in my pj bottoms at the mo.
Today is the first time Ive had a nap, Ive been so tired , not being sick so not all bad.

coraltoes · 30/07/2010 16:38

ok...i dozed off on the toilet today
woke up about 10 mins later as a mop came under the door and "mind your feet!"

me23 · 30/07/2010 16:50

hello all,
had to get up about 4 times in the night to pee
Also have really spotty skin and greasy hair at the moment yuk!

As for showing, I was showing before I got pregnant people at work 9and bear in mind these are midwives who should know better) would ask when I was due at least now I don't have to say no not pregnant just fat!

no sleep and snap do you have vbac clinic? at your hospials? where you can discuss your individual cases and get advice on vbac?
no reason after 2 cs you cant have a vaginal birth.

NoSleepTonight · 30/07/2010 17:41

me23
I'm not sure, I know I'll see my consultant quite a lot, I'll make sure I ask - lots/ Actually, as long as my scan is ok on Monday I have my hospital booking in on Wednesday so I can speak to them about it all.

snapdragon3 · 30/07/2010 17:44

Me23 I don't think my hospital have heard of VBAC clinics . They have one of the highest c section rates in the country and the consultants are the kind who tell you rather than discuss with you. I am clearly the scourge of the maternity services because I don't meekly do as I'm told. We could do with a service like that!

Nosleep I seem to have babies who like to be in the most awkward positions and thus get very stuck before they get anywhere near the final exit. Your first experience sounds very dramatic and scary, though. Like you, I would kinda like to avoid major abdominal surgery again.

Having been very sicky all day, guess what has made me better? Cola bottles and tortilla chips with salsa....so healthy.

Applemuncher · 30/07/2010 18:09

Nice to see everyone's going through the same thing (although obviously the symptoms are a bit of a double edge sword).

I'm doing the same thing with the early morning loo trips then not getting comfy and lying there awake.

Shitforbrains - I can totally sympathise, I work in a very pressured environment -in the private sector too so I have a whopping 6 weeks maternity to look forward to! Worse still, I'm only 6 weeks pg and I'm running our of excuses for why I can't put my harness on, strap the breathing apparatus on and go down the hole

Weirdest thing was...was lying in bed last night and felt my lower tum, there was a very hard rounded bit - too early for baby bump I know but it must have been all my ligaments and stuff moving around .

NoSleepTonight · 30/07/2010 18:35

Snap - both boys had to be dragged out with forceps - even ds2 with the c-section - his head was firmy wedged, they said his neck was bent right back
When my consutant saw my notes from ds1 he said I should have been taken into theatre on day 1 and we culd have avoided the whole intensive care thing

Hi Lunaticfringe

I had an abruption at 36 weeks, it was very serious and not concealed as such because I felt 'funny' and went to the hospital, they said I was fine, but later that night my waters broke with a lot of blood. I was rushed to hosp and operated on very quickly.

I haven't been told I MUST have an ELCS but I am going to opt for one since I can't personally risk another abruption (of course it may still happen) but at least it gives me a fighting chance of arranging care for the DC's while I am in hospital!

Purplefan · 31/07/2010 14:44

mslucy · 31/07/2010 14:51

Hi there, I've been lurking for a few weeks.
I've just come back from hospital after bleeding this morning, but it's ALIVE.

I'm all over the place - feel quite freaked by the whole thing esp as the whole pregnancy was very unexpected.

I'm 40 next month, have 2 DS (5 and 18 months) and am due on 17th March. I live in North London.

I'm still breastfeeding ds2 and my periods came back in April.

I was being a bit naughty about contraception because it took 2 years and IUI to conceive DS2 - I was totally shocked when I tested positive a few weeks ago.

I'd convinced myself I'd lost it after bleeding as I miscarried about 6 years ago (pre DS1). But there it was, looking quite lively.

There is still a 10 per cent risk of mc and I will be scanned again in a week's time.

I am bleeding a bit - not sure whether this is due to anything wrong "up there", or the fact that I have just had a vaginal scan and and a little adventure with the speculum (yuk).

Not sure how long I'll be here for, but I wanted to say that if you do bleed, go straight to hospital as it's best to know what's going on and the situation may be better than you'd imagined.

Purplefan · 01/08/2010 12:54

Hi all,

Welcome to mama2LeahandAisha, you are gonna be busy with all those little ones
Also welcome to MsLucy sounds like you are really going through it at the moment - but yay that little bean is alive and fingers crossed for next week.

I am feeling ok today, luckily no repeat of headache and sickness from yesterday...so think that was totally unrelated to pregnancy! My boobs are very very sore today and are increasing in size by the second!!!

Hope everyone else is ok.

sam26oscar · 01/08/2010 14:04

hi everyone hope you all well and not feeling too ill my weekend started off good, day trip out to Bath, lunch out (which was lovely and had no ill effects after!!) then gave in and bought pair of maternity jeans in the sale as i couldn't walk around with the waistband cutting into me any longer
I had a sunday morning lie in yay!! i admit i was bit naughty let DS stay up late then got him to sleep in my bed as i knew he would sleep past 6am with me lo and behold 7.45am we woke up!
However m/s kicked in again not pleassant especially when you got to go swimming Still hoping that it fades away as going to watch Postman Pat at the playhouse this afternoon!!
