Hi,

Is anyone expecting a March baby?

I've just found out I'm pg following a mc in April at 12 weeks, so I need some company

I'm still waiting for the hospital to ring with the scan appt - not helped by the fact that we can't actually find my mobile, which is the only number they have! DH has gone to look in the car (parked miles away as we don't have a drive), bless him.

Fingers crossed but not holding out much hope I'm afraid. Will let you know when I have the scan what the situation is.

Good luck to harriet75c and shitforbrains - some bleeding IS normal and let's hope we're all fine.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/07/2010 09:43

harriet and water - thinking about you both. will check later. sfb fingers crossed it is just so growing pain.

sevenbubbles · 28/07/2010 10:01

thinking of you Harriet and Waterplate. I bled with my first DD and she was ok. I really hope that it will be the same for you.

SFB I hope it is just your ligaments stretching - that can really hurt.

jeffily · 28/07/2010 10:53

Just checked in quickly this morning, really sorry to hear such worrying times for you all SFB, harriet, waterplate. I also had bleeding with my DD and she is a very stroppy 1 yr old now, so try to keep some hope. So difficult though. Thinking of you all today.

Sparkling water does it for me, although I never drink coke and had a huge yearning for it yesterday. Just like a hangover..

I let DH 'trim' my fringe yesterday, and now have a wonky mess so am off to an emergency app at the hair dressers. Will check back in later.

superpenguin · 28/07/2010 10:54

oh no!
sorry to hear about the bleeding harriet and waterplate - thinking of you and hope you get some answers soon.
likewise SFB hope they can reassure you on your pains.

I have had all sorts of aches and pains over the past few weeks but nothing really bad and have assumed it's just stretching, or indigestion.

take care everyone. x

superpenguin · 28/07/2010 11:13

By the way there seems to be a lot of confusion about (generally i mean not on this thread) regarding safe and unsafe foods. I have done a bit of internet research on this and here is my view:

When it says soft cheese -
AVOID: brie and similar - i.e. the types of cheeses that ripen and form a rind on the outside. also avoid stilton / blue cheeses.

BUT these are OK: processed soft cheese like philadelphia type stuff, dairylea type stuff, or cottage cheese. and all hard cheeses are fine too.

Make sure all milk and dairy products are either pasteurised or cooked.
Similarly make sure all fruit and veg are either thoroughly washed, peeled or cooked, to remove all traces of soil.

All the above is to avoid listeria bacteria which can cause serious illness in pregnant women and unborn babies.

Eggs:
AVOID: raw or undercooked eggs and things that contain raw egg - like home made mayonnaise, mousse etc etc.
This is avoid salmonella poisoning.
BUT most shop-bought mayonnaise, coleslaw etc is ok as the egg is pasteurised. Check the label to be sure. and fully cooked eggs (no runny bits!) are fine.

(I haven't talked about meat and fish products here as I'm vegetarian so don't eat any of that anyway!)

Hope that clarifies things a bit. Sorry if I am telling you all stuff you already know!

shitforbrains · 28/07/2010 12:07

Hello ladies!

Well I went to A&E, was referred to EPU as they feared ectopic.
Had a scan, good news and bad news - pregnancy is not ectopic (my main concern) but I do have a big blood clot next to bean.
They said that this would account for the pain and unfortunately it does mean higher than normal risk of MS, but that hopefully it will disperse. I have to go back on wednesday for another scan.

shitforbrains · 28/07/2010 12:12

oh yes, and they advised tentative due date (assuming bean can hang on in there)
14/03/2011

coraltoes · 28/07/2010 12:23

oh SFB how wonderful that it isn't ectopic!! I am so so hoping it all disperses and that 14/3 becomes a firm EDD.

superpenguin great summary. I am in total agreement. I may refer to them as "soft cheeses" but i am fully aware of the differences, mostly because it is all my favourites that are banned. oh how i long for a big hunk of honking blue cheese or a slither of camembert with crackers...oh man.

i also bloody hate eggs that are not runny. BAH HUMBUG.

to be honest the cloudier areas for me are around seafood. I love prawns, clams, crab, anything with a shell really and need to look up what the dangers are etc. Someone once told me sushi was out of bounds too but i have since heard otherwise. totters off to google

Harriet75C · 28/07/2010 12:37

There is no baby. The sac is empty. 7 years ttc and this is the only time we've managed to get pg. Heartbroken.

snotdroolanddirtybums · 28/07/2010 13:06

harriet-thats terrible, really feel for you.

sam26- i find capri-sun really refreshing although atm ive enough excess saliva to keep me hydrated for weeks.

im so tierd today couldnt get to sleep until 5am, it must have been the heat. has everyone been to the docs yet? i havent went as i cant seem to find the time yet

waterplate · 28/07/2010 13:08

Harriet, take lots of time with your partner to get over this. I can't have a scan til Friday now, hospital fully booked, but I'm pretty sure I've lost my pregnancy too. We are spending the day just thinking it over and having a good cry. I hope you'll be able to get back to TTC as soon as possible.

pushmepullyou · 28/07/2010 13:16

Thanks superpenguin, that's really useful. I must admit that although I am very good with the listeria risks ie soft/blue cheese and pate, I am a bit more lax wrt the cookedness of my eggs . I always think that as long as you're buying British lion marked (salmonella tested) eggs, you're probably fairly safe. Wouldn't eat soft eggs of dubious provenance though!

Madasajarofwasps · 28/07/2010 13:16

OH Harriet, I am so very sorry. Life is so unfair sometimes. Seven years is an eternity and now for your joy to end so cruelly is so unfair. I had fertility problems ttc my first and while it was only 2 years I can totally understand your despair. I hope you have support in RL. Please take care x

pushmepullyou · 28/07/2010 13:23

Oh no harriet, cross posted. I'm so sorry you must be devastated.

Waterplate, I'm so sorry as well. I hope you both feel able to get back on the TTC bandwagon before too long.

SFB - Fingers crossed that your body can absorb the clot and your little bean can hang in there.

shitforbrains · 28/07/2010 13:29

Harriet I am so very very sorry to hear your news
Can't imagine what you are going through.

Waterplate I'm so sorry too, but I hope that your bean is hanging on in there x

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/07/2010 13:30

Thinking of you ladies.

Purplefan · 28/07/2010 13:36

Just checking in and very sorry to hear the sad news on this thread. Our thoughts are with you harriet and waterplate

SFB fingers crossed for you that all turns out ok. At least you got it checked out and know what the pain was about.

I am so tired still, not feeling sick (yet) and seem to have developed a fondness of pickled onions

sam26oscar · 28/07/2010 14:01

Harriet am so very sorry for your loss, it is heartbreaking especially after ttc for 7 years, i know its probably not much comfort but after my first m/c i conceived within 3 months and went on to have DS1 had m/c April this year and am currently 8+5 sending hugs xx
sfb fingers crossed it all turns out ok

Waterplate fingers and legs crossed for you xx

coraltoes · 28/07/2010 14:25

oh just checking back to see how the others are and am so sorry harriet to read it was bad news. I can't begin to imagine how you must feel, and hope you find lots of love and support in those around you at the moment. Thinking of you. x

waterplate i am keeping every crossable bit of my body crossed for you now. Nobody knows our bodies better than us, but something we can be surprised, and I do hope this is one of those times for you. x

me23 · 28/07/2010 14:25

I'm so sorry harriet and waterplate for your sad news.

sfb I've had aches and pains too, some are quite sharp and painful, I've put it down to uterus stretching.

superpenguin I'm veggie too and do not like soft cheeses so It's pretty easy for me.

I don't feel pregnant at all I have no symptoms, breasts no longr feel tender, no ms just feel same as I was before pregnancy.
I really hope I am as I want this baby so much.

sevenbubbles · 28/07/2010 14:31

so sorry to hear this news

shitforbrains · 28/07/2010 14:51

me23 - yes I have had those before too. This pain is very different. Consultant has attributed it to the blood clot.

jeffily · 28/07/2010 14:56

harriet don't know if you will be back to look at this thread, but so sad to hear your news. You must be devastated. Our bodies can be so cruel. Hope you have lots of RL support and are able to grieve. When we lost our first DD I found I really needed time to get over it. Thinking of you.

waterplate hope that the next few days are not too bad for you, waiting to find out. Sounds like you have a lovely OH to share it with you. That's so important.

sfb Sending hope your way.

me23 · 28/07/2010 15:11

oh sorry sfb missed the post about blood clot, I do hope it manages to resolve itself.
