welcome snot i have so much respect for all you ladies with 2 or more kids im finding it hard with just one DS who is nearly 6yrs old[embarrassed] can anyone recommend a drink which doesn't make them gip??!! i usually drink apple and blackcurrant but at the moment cant even stand the taste of water and thinking about drinking makes me gip....weird i know, its becoming a bit of a problem as i'm not drinking enough probably one glass a day

Harriet75C · 27/07/2010 20:23

I'm bleeding

And the hospital won't see me until tomorrow

shitforbrains · 27/07/2010 20:31

oh no Harriet

Bleeding how? Spotting or worse?

flower11 · 27/07/2010 20:38

hello all
my sickness has got worse this week i am now sick several times every morning, and feeling sick most of the day. Im finding it hard to find things i want to eat, bland is good at the moment, oven chips and crusty bread seem to do the job, trying to be healthy too and eating lots of fruit. I have my mw appointment on friday though the 12 week scan seems for ever away, dont think it will feel properly real till i see my bean and know all is ok.

Harriet75C · 27/07/2010 20:42

actually make that 'the hospital won't see me until Thursday as they are full tomorrow'

shit just spotting at the moment, but still really really worried

shitforbrains · 27/07/2010 20:51

harriet - try not to worry too much if it's just spotting, and just get plenty of rest.

Of course you must still see the hospital, but spotting itself does not necessarily indicate a problem

if you are very worried, have a look for your local EPU, many of them have walk in clinics.

flower11 · 27/07/2010 20:56

harriet
thats awful you have to wait so long, if you are really worried if you turned up at hospital they would have to see you wouldn't they?
thinking off you, hope it all works out ok

shitforbrains · 27/07/2010 21:03

this is true, if you are really worried, if the spotting continues, go to A&E. No guarantee of a scan but at least you might get some help/advice

Celia76 · 27/07/2010 21:09

Harriet - so scary for you. Is there a satellite clinic where you can get an earlier scan? I'm sure you're desperate for some reassurance. I'd keep on calling in case they have a cancellation.

NoSleep - I'm rubbish at waiting so I empathise with how hard this is for you. No bleeding or spotting is reassuring. Good luck with the scan.

My sickness peaked on Friday, when I was sick constantly until lunchtime, since then I feel much less sick, and haven't been sick which is lovely! Of course now I'm worrying that the symptom has gone, it's endless.......

How do I change my EDD to 6.3.11?? Thanks!

Welcome to the new members!

My stomach is definitely expanding (I'm 8+2 weeks). There's a definite belly sticking out of my trousers, so I'm waiting for a colleague or patient to ask about it. Problem is I'm rubbish at lying, hey ho!

Off on holiday to France next week - wary of the unpasturised cheeses and meats, probably just stuff myself with baguette.....

waterplate · 27/07/2010 21:10

I'm bleeding too and unfortunately after a trip to the doctor today they are ringing me with a scan appt either tomorrow morning or Thursday. Looks like a miscarriage. I'm obviously very upset and also thinking of your harriet75c. Actually the worst things were being away from home (have now come back from Somerset but was sharing a room with a complete stranger as was on a course for work!) and also telling my DH. He is being very brave but is totally gutted.

Anyway the doc says it's very very common to have an early miscarriage and then go on to have lots of happy healthy babies in the future so if it is bad news we'll get back to TTC as soon as they say it's safe (after next period).

Will let you all know how it goes...good luck to everyone especially Harriet - I hope it's just a scare for both of us.

spilttheteaagain · 27/07/2010 21:10

Oh harriet how frightening.

If you can't get seen straight away make sure you take tomorrow off work or whatever and rest completely.

Thinking of you, let us know how you're doing x

sam26oscar · 27/07/2010 21:17

harriet andwaterplate* i have my fingers crossed that its just a little spotting and everything will be fine. Do you have bad pains too?? Sending hugs x

pushmepullyou · 27/07/2010 21:24

Oh no waterplate, I'm so sorry . It is true that early miscarriages are extremely extremely common, I've had 3 (so far) and one lovely DD. There's nothing wrong with me, just bad luck and doesn't mean anything for your chance of having a successful pregnancy in future.

and harriet, you must be so worried . I had spotting the whole way through my pregnancy with DD and she was fine. Apparently 50% of women will have spotting or bleeding at some point and for 50% of those it is nothing sinister. I think if it is light and you don't have cramps these are both good signs.

Fingers crossed for you both.

Harriet75C · 27/07/2010 21:40

thanks guys. i'll keep you posted

Madasajarofwasps · 27/07/2010 21:55

Hugs to harriet and waterplate I am so sorry you have all this worry. I really hope it all works out for you - there is still hope xx

polkadottytotty · 27/07/2010 21:55

Harriet and Waterplate - fingers crossed for you. Hope you get appointments asap and can find out whats going on.

sam26 regarding the drinks, I'm the same and am struggling to drink water at the moment. This is how I feel when I'm hungover (pre-pregnancy obviously!) - so maybe its something to do with being dehydrated.
I've been drinking cold fresh pineapple/breakfast juice diluted with water - which seems to be going down well.

Purplefan · 27/07/2010 23:10

Fingers crossed and best wishes to harriet and waterplate.

Harriet75C · 28/07/2010 08:14

Since the NHS were so crap I called the Birth Company (where I was due to have a viability scan on Thursday anyway) and they have slotted me in at 11.15. So hopefully I should know either way today. Although I'm not holding out much hope

shitforbrains · 28/07/2010 08:20

I might be on the phone to the EPU myself today.

Lots of pain on one side. This is DC3 and I don't recall having anything similar with the other two.
I am not super worried, but would prefer to get it checked out. I do always seem to have early day panics and niggles only to find nothing is wrong, hoping I am a silly overreacting pregnant woman again

snapdragon3 · 28/07/2010 08:38

Oh no!

Lots of love and crossed fingers for Harriet and Waterplate Hope you both get some answers soon. So sad to hear you are both having such a horrible time.

SFB hope that the pains amount to nothing in particular, but I agree you are doing exactly the right thing. I always think it's hard NOT to have early day panics. Until you get signals from the inside that things are good, i.e. kicks and wriggles, I find it really tough.

Thinking of all those having very scary, worrying times

Flower I wouldn't worry too much about a balanced diet while the sickness is so troublesome. Plenty of time to get healthy again when it passes. Main thing is to get down whatever you can, and carbs are the best thing in this situation. If you can eat fruit as well, that's brilliant. Another few weeks and things will hopefully begin to settle down and you can get back on track.

Sam26oscar I know what you mean about taste changes and drinks. I am finding I've gone off a lot of drinks. I find tonic water (ice cold) refreshing, fresh orange nice in the morning when the sickness recedes a bit. I got some elderflower cordial which tastes okay at the moment too, but things change so often.

Celia enjoy France!

coraltoes · 28/07/2010 09:14

oh goodness!
harriet i have everything crossed for your scan this morning. I had spotting 2 weeks ago, went to A&E, got scanned and was told spotting is perfectly normal, and to not worry until it is anything heavier (like a period say)and accompanied by pains- apparently our bodies get rid of old blood or even just some fresh one in small amounts from time to time. I hope this is the case for you. They also told me it is ALWAYS important to get checked out no matter how minor we might convince ourselves something is as there is nothing better than being safe but sure. xx

waterplate how are you feeling this morning?? i hope you get your scan soon and some clarity on it all. xx

shitforbrains please try not to panic, although it is so hard. I had excruciating pains about 2 weeks ago, and was told it was all perfectly normal BUT BUT BUT always get it checked out to be safe. good luck missy!

thinking of you 3 today.

sam26 and snapdragon i have so many drinks i can't face...a fridge full of bitter lemon, ginger ale etc that i craved for a day and now cant even look at. So far ribena with loads of ice has worked ok...food is similar too, i really crave something one day and can't even think of it without gagging the next. Chicken kievs for dinner were a fab idea though!!

Found out a good friend of mine is preg, due mid feb. Am desp to tell her my news but really want scans etc first. so so hard keeping it a secret!!!
