sassy so funny...and hurrah!!

skyeplusbump · 01/08/2010 22:23

baby will not stop moving today!
driving me mad!
lovely for about 10mins
ALL DAY is not so lovely!!
hardly slept last night because he wouldnt keep still!

really hoping he will calm down before i go to bed!

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 10:06

Hey skye how did you sleep?

I can so sympathise with the moving thing. I'm constantly yelping and eeking, and then DH puts his hand on bump, then Fidget gets hiccups, and isn't too intense. DH thinks these are what's causing me discomfort...

No, if Fidge had hiccups all day long, I wouldn't be as vocal!

Ugh, I feel so crap today Don't know why. I know I'm not sleeping properly, but I don't think it's cos of Fidget.

skyeplusbump · 02/08/2010 10:16

ughhh...not well!

at least dd is with her grandma this morning,im supposed to be cleaning...and packing my hospital bag,but im stroking the kitten and watching daytime tv instead...oh dear.

the exact same thing happens when dp puts his hand on bump...just stops moving!
i feel the same, just a bit rubbish...must be hormones,im begining to get a bit sick of being pregnant now...
nearly sorted a name though! with the help of some mners!

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 10:47

Well done with the name We've got a few lined up, for both eventualities, but nothing decided till we meet him/her

I've got DS till end of the week, then he goes and sees his nanny on Sunday for a few days... I kind of can't wait

It doesn't help that I'm constantly thirsty either... I made the mistake of mentioning it to DH, and he now thinks I'm a hormonal hypochondriac! I will mention it to my mw though, just to check for GD.

skyeplusbump · 02/08/2010 10:58

thanks! feel free to go vote!! its titled
'i think ive got it!'
ohhh over night stay's sound lovely!
do get it checked
'better safe than sorry!'
dp thinks the same he honestly said
"why are you so emotional and anrgy...its so random!"
this was as we were walking the 1/2hr home from town,i was pushing buggy with shopping,he was carring dd (who could have walked as shed only just got out of the buggy!)in sweltering heat, and lunch was well past due!
im ashamed to say i actually shouted
"because im 8 months pregnant!!!"
his response?
"oh yeah,sorry,i forgot..."

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2010 11:21

My bump stops moving whenever I'm with my mum and she really wants to feel it moving. DH hates the feeling of it and doesn't understand why I get so excited! Although it is very uncomfortable at times I still enjoy it and I can now feel little feet which is lovely.

Have started talking to DS about the baby getting milk from me as my yoga teacher said when she had her second the first wanted to do what the baby was doing and I don't really want to have that situation. I fed him til he was 15 months and he has never since asked for milk and other than the odd poke of my nipples when we are getting dressed doesn't even bother with them. I explained that there is special milk for the baby in mummy's boobies and that he will probably spend quite a lot of time drinking that milk. DS is now telling everyone that this one has milk and this one has apple juice! Otherwise no other embarrasing comments so far.

I'm thirsty a lot parkj83 especially in the morning and I can feel quite rubbish if I don't start drinking soon after I wake up. Am drinking 2-3 litres of water a day at the moment and that helps. I had a GTT at 24 weeks and have had no glucose in urine so think it's just that you need more water to keep hydrated when pregnant.

Got my growth scan on Thursday and will check baby's position, so that's the only thing I can think about at the moment

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 11:24

pmsl! He just 'forgot' you're 8 months pg!

DH keeps reminding me I'm pg (yeah, thanks for that, not like I haven't noticed...(!) )

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 12:30

Hi cinnamon, just seen your post. Thing is, I'll drink a fair bit in the morning and drink a glass of water here and there, but by early evening, I'm very thirsty again. And it's nigh on unquenchable! Add to that if I do drink after, say, 9pm, I have to get up in the night, and that's a flipping nightmare with my hip and spd. I'm not winning

DS has been quizzing me re the bf thing... I'm feeling a little self-concious about it, as he wasn't bf for long, and has a habit of blurting stuff out at inopportune moments too! bless with your DS ,and with one side being apple juice though!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2010 12:38

I tend not to drink too much in the evening as I'm hydrated by then and then I have to get up in the night a lot too!

My DSS shouted out in a pub once when I was feeding DS, my turn now (when he was 6) and I got lots of strange looks- he thought it was very funny!

Just hoping he doesn't think the apple juice side is for him though. He's been saying our baby not have bottles, as all the dolls have bottles with the disappearing milk and he's connected the 2, so hoping he doesn't offend anyone with that either! He had very few bottles- ebm when DH and I occasionally went out and then had water in beaker from 4 months so hoping to be the same this time. One less thing to wean them off later!

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/08/2010 12:39

Hey everyone

Gosh time is flying, cant believe Im due a month yesterday!

Saw my cousin at the weekend who has just had a baby, and her advice is:

  • You need more maternity pads than you thought possible - 10 a day. Dont even think of using non maternity ones! Also you go through loads of pants in a day.
  • You will need more muslin squares and little bath towels than you expected. If you have a boy you will go through even more towels, as they wee on everything!
  • Cheap supermarket breast pads feel like sandpaper, if you can afford it get the branded ones.
cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2010 12:50

I wasn't too bad with maternity pads, used 3 packets and then changed to always ultra so maybe depends on each person.

I loved muslin squares as DS was really sicky! You have to get the fresh nappy open and ready to shove straight under when you take the old one off or open it for a few secs to let the air get in then cover their willy back over to catch the wee and then change the nappy, you learn quickly or you get very wet!

Agree with breast pads, tommee tippee were the bestI used them for 9 months and tried pretty much all in that time.

Lovely seeing someone else's little one though skatergrrrrl, gets you in the mood for yours! There are 4 newborns at the toddler groups we go to, I'm the only one left pregnant now.

SkaterGrrrrl · 02/08/2010 13:04

It made me so broody - lucky I dont have long to wait!

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 13:43

ebm?

As for willies and nappies, don't get me started! I pmsl when DH changed DS for the first time! he wasn't ready for it, and he got all huffy, cos I forgot to warn him.

But then, I cried when I'd just changed DS and his willy wasn't tucked away properly; he promptly peed himself, and soaked his babygro, vest, moses basket, the works. DH couldn't figure out why I was so upset! My mum had to gently explain baby blues...!

skyeplusbump · 02/08/2010 14:01

oh my god! nobody told me this...we had a girl last time, she was easy to change. whats all this willy tucking?!!!

i found johnson & johnson were the only comfortable breastpads...i was very sad about this as i had intended to use re-usable or bio degradable! the reuseables are okay but i soaked them pretty fast!

also, dont forget to get feeding bras! i forgot them last time and had to make a trip into the city for bra measuring when dd was 2 days old!
not fun.

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 14:05

basically it was pointing up, not down into the nappy. Net result was the next time he peed (3 mins later) it went over everything bar the nappy! Grr!

Live and learn!

I desperatly need to go bra shopping, but haven't managed it, as everyone on here says avoid M&S & Mothercare as they don't fit you properly, but that's all I've got near me

I think I need to go to Bristol for JL, or Oxford for Bravissimo but it's psyching up the energy to go...

Debs75 · 02/08/2010 14:33

Yep little boys are geniuses at weeing everywhere. You have to tuck the willy down, not hard in the early morning when they are pointing to the sky.

I used reusable breast pads with dc3 and I soaked through them almost all the time. Plus I started with 20 and can only find 1 so must have thrown a few away with the disposable ones.

park Have you got a bhs near you they are really good at fitting but not sure if they do feeding bras. Debenhams are also good and they do really nice feeding bras. I agree don't use Mothercare, she fitted me into horrid ones which just left me sagging, you couldn't tell if I had the strap done up or not.

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 15:09

our town is useless - both our debenhams and bhs are in the process of being refurbished (the BHS has moved into other premises which is about 1/3 in size of where they used to be), so stock is limited in both stores I really don't have a choice of shopping elsewhere.

I've just found out my mum is on holiday at the end of august though, so just persuaded her to sign up for a shopping excursion

ooosabeauta · 02/08/2010 16:01

Feeling massively hormonal and difficult at the moment. Reading the stuff about boys' wee antics has cheered me up a bit though! At around 18 months my ds had learned to time it really well, so that just at the moment you switched nappies and your hands were occupied he would do a great fountainous wee. And laugh at how funny it was... It got to a point where I recognised the expression on his face when he was planning it and there was a kind of 'quiet' while he obviously concentrated on timing it well Monkey! Best buy ever for us after having ds was a Bissell carpet cleaning machine. It's a blessed relief when you know you can get whatever they've done clean off again!

No advice on the bras/breast pads issue. I'm still in my 'a' cup bras despite huge weight gain everywhere else, and I didn't have a spare drop to leak last time. Hoping for more this time.

patito · 02/08/2010 16:04

HI

I used motrhercare maternity bras last time round, not most glamourous but like you parkj83 was choice limited. I strangly found the plain black and white fitted fine, but same size in any other design didn´t .

I can recommend the Bravissimo maternity vests as well, the give great support (unlike the mothercare ones!). Ive dug them back out for this time round, I get a bit sweaty BFing , and found these with a open shirt/cardy were perfect. Bought them over internet cant remeber where but should be easy to find.

DS was going away to PILs for a night, but now they´ve decided to come here for 4 days instead . Why can´t people understand that last mth of pregnancy is not the best time to visit people. We live in a seaside town and funnily enough so many cheapskates friends want to visit in August. Have had to put off a few people, althoug I did hear DP suggest to one friend of his that September would be better as he´d get to meet the baby. , If last month of pregnancy bad timing, then recently given birth is ...

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2010 16:13

parkj83 ebm-expressed breast milk.

I got measured at mothercare but ordered bra's online. I have an underwired nursing bra from last time which still fits, so fingers crossed I won't get much bigger! It's this one but I got it from figleaves 3 years ago.

Wouldn't have fitted me while still pregnant as I got much bigger when my milk came in.

bananastew · 02/08/2010 16:22

We've never had a problem with fountainous wees! I'm hoping this babys the same! Ds did make up for it with projectile vomitting at least daily tho. Muslin squares were useless we had great big "sicky blankets" You were a fool if you tried to feed him without first covering yourself & the whole sofa!

I went to see my friend & her 2 day old ds this morning. Its made me really excited & helped with my concerns about how ds will react. I sat & held the baby for ages & he just played nicely, no jealousy or anything. Then he held him really carefully and stroked his hair!

This SPD is really getting me down. I went into town for an hour this morning. Hardly walked far & was in agony! Its rubbish!

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 16:45

Ah I see, thanks cinnamon

I've got some M&S maternity ones that fit ok-ish atm, but I've got no idea re bfing bras. I'm thinking I'm going to need quite big cups, as they are feeling very big atm.

I'm useless at measuring myself, so I think I will try and get to somewhere where I can be measured properly.

Oh dear patito, that is annoying.

parkj83 · 02/08/2010 16:47

And I'm with you banana I'm screaming on the inside, as DS is off, and wants to go here there and everywhere, but I just physically can't do it.

It's the first time that I've had the whole summer off with him, and we planned to do so much, and now I feel I'm letting him down

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2010 17:37

That's really rubbish parkj83 you shouldn't feel like that. I'm sure there are plenty of things you can do at home with him and he appreciate your time more than anything. You can have the odd trip out and not suffer too much. If you feel rubbish when you get back that won't be nice for him either!

Your in-laws sound very considerate patito , a child free night vs extra people to look after, very similar!
