Hi MammyG I'm pleased you had a good time at the wedding

I've had a bit of a manic weekend, there was a national service for the church I go to, so we piled up to Birmingham the night before to make it easier in the morning.

But the hotel we stayed in (which we've used before) has gone horribly downhill in the 2 years since we last stayed there. Nothing but noise, door slamming, people f**king, lumpy mattress, dirty bathroom and lousy food. From a cheap but well-known hotel chain, it was shoddy.

And I think I rushed around a bit too much too!

I'm in agony today with my SPD, my hip, and now I'm getting pain in my lower left leg

I'm hoping it's just a bit of internal bruising as I've been limping quite a bit this week just gone, so there's been a lot of weight landing on my left leg.

But on the brighter side of life, the service was beautiful, and I played in the orchestra fine (although my flute will have to be put away till Fidge arrives/gets bigger) and I sang in the choir. The flowers on the altar looked stunning too, so it was all gorgeous If I can find pictures online, I'll post a link!

skyeplusbump · 19/07/2010 11:38

wow! it took ages to catch up this time!!
glad everyones still all good...besides all the pregnancy gripes!!

so the wedding was fantastic...such a beautifull(if incredably hippy)ceremony! in the middle of a wild flower meadow.
my dp did the 'vicars job' i dont think there was a dry eye there!and the weather held out for us!
but i have to say by yesterday i was grumpy tired and fed up! camping whilst pregnant is NOT my forte!
i am SOO glad to be home!!

33!!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/07/2010 12:57

Impressive bump sassy34264 I regretted not having many pics when pregnant with DS but haven't been any better so far with this one!

I have a poorly boy today picked him up from pre-school and they said he hadn't been himself, fell asleep on the way home and has gone to bed dosed up with calpol so fingers crossed he feels better. Not a clue what it is though!

I have a really active baby that feels like he's trying to push my ribs out of my body at times. Went to see Shrek on Saturday and I was such a fidget trying to find some position that he would stop hurting me!

PickleSarnie · 19/07/2010 13:15

Woah, that's an awesome bump sassy34264. I'm scared to take a photo incase I just look like a pie eating, salad dodger and I hate having photos taken at the best of times (I have to be drunk to smile for a camera and apparently getting drunk whilst up-duffed is frowned upon these days)

Does anyone still get quiet days? Some days baby wont stop and almost gives me motion sickness. But then I've had a couple of days where it's hardly budged and I've turned into a total stress monster and resorted to poking it to get it to move (much to the disgust of OH who says bump poking is wrong - but it's only a gentle prod!!)

skyeplusbump · 19/07/2010 19:24

picklesarnie i get quiet bump days too,and i poke...bump poking is not wrong! bump poking is nessesary!

sassy your bump is bloody huge...how many are in there?!!

cinnamon hope your lo feels better soon!

sooo, should i pack my labour bags yet?! or will i be staring at them for ages?!
i dont remember when i did them last time, but i kept taking stuff out and repacking all the time.so by the time i got there i didnt even have enough clothes for dd,and the ones i did have were 0-3 months (she was 6.10!) so they were comicaly large(of course i was NOT laughing!) BUT i did have 4 blankets (she was born in bloody july!)
what do you reckon lady's?!

MammyG · 19/07/2010 21:12

One more sleep to go then its hotel bliss for two whole nights!! All the more appreciated as both boys stormed our bed last night as thunder woke them up. All ok with eldest but youngest climbed all over me even using my bump as a leg up. Have been shattered today.
Park - something similar happened to us on our trip away last year. The place was just a glorified hostel with a breakfast. It was awful - hated going back there but at least you enjoyed your service and all went well there
Cinnamon - my youngest had a flash temperature etc yesterday but by bedtime was ok again and no sign of anything today so fingers crossed.
Also seeing doctor tomorrow. Have to discuss birth options. Want to do it while DH is with me so there is someone else to stress how awful my last experience was. Also worried about what will happen if I get a gall bladder attack during labout. Really dont think I could manage that at all.
Leaving packing bags until next week at least. Have all the baby stuff out but have to wash it all now. Oh the joys.

bananastew · 20/07/2010 09:26

Question! If you were early with previous babies and need to be booked in for a section, when would they book you in! Just hypothetically speaking! ds was 9 days early. If I this babies breech (he isn't that I know of!) would they book it for term or earlier??

Sassy That is a good bump! I don't think mines that big untill I see photos then it looks huge!

As for bump poking! Its a must! especially when you get a kick back! I love trying to work out which part is which and keep getting something very hard and plum sized just under my tummy button! It feels very close to the surface!

parkj83 · 20/07/2010 10:03

Ugh, Fidget doesn't need poking - s/he's going nuts at the slightest provocation

I find myself wishing for a bit of peace, but then, saying that, I think I'd find myself poking!! lol

As for pictures of me, I hate having my pic taken even when I'm not pg. Although, when I was pg with DS, I think I was bigger, as I carried loads of fluid. I suppose it'd be good to refer back to in the future.

skyeplusbump · 20/07/2010 10:15

my dd was a right little wriggler, this one's pretty exitable, but she just never stopped!
she still hasnt actually, she's two now...

parkj83 · 20/07/2010 10:38

lol, DS somersaulted his way through the pg, but I just didn't feel him as much, I think because of the fluid.

That did cause issues in labour though as he somersaulted just as my waters were broken for me, and he ended up back to back.

And yes, he's still energetic 7 years on!

Only 60 days to go...

Aaaargh, can't believe I was complaining about bump being quiet. I think s/he is trying to make a bid for freedom today by using my ribs to climb out with. Either that or it's inherited it's dancing style from it's Dad (arms and legs flailing wildly)

parkj83 · 20/07/2010 12:02

lol pickle I've got no idea where Fidge has got its dancing style from!

(Me probably)

skyeplusbump · 20/07/2010 12:42

lol!!pickle

argghhh!! double buggy's arrrggghhhhh!!!!

LadyRabbit · 20/07/2010 13:29

Hi Ladies

Same here with the dancing bump - I thought they were supposed to start calming down after about 30 weeks because of cramped living quarters!! My little one is doing the opposite and is a definite nightbird but doesn't do mornings. Like his mum.

Been busy - like a lot of you on here too - so not posted for a bit. Feeling pretty good and starting to get excited.Actually, make that insanely excited. Got date for cs, which I was initially resisting but have got used to the idea now and am mentally preparing myself for it.

This warm weather is really knackering - I am in awe of you ladies managing with twins. I salute you and wonder, how are your ankles bearing up??!

Hello Ladies, long time catching up. Been enjoying your posts but sorry for those who have pregnancy worries, heartburn and other physical problems.
Bananastew when I had c-section last time in 2007 the Consultant wanted to book me in at week 38. When I was asked to take the form to the midwives to book me in I sneakily asked for week 39 (they knew me well by then as due to late complications I was by that stage traipsing to hospital every 2 days for foetal monitoring).

When they book you in depends on how it's all going and if its twins etc. Hospitals are so litigation conscious risk averse these days that they may take into account previous early delivery, but I think the weight of the evidence is definitely in favour of leaving it as late as possible. The policy at my hospital this time (different one) is to do CSs at week 39, bar problems. If it's simply a breech issue they ought to let you go to week 39.

Can't recall who was stuck on the M25 on Sat. Me too. On my own with DS for a long drive to friend's for lunch. Then later on to another party for DH's best mate's gf's graduation party. Clever girl has qualified as a vet!!

I decided to go to the parties and give my wedge platforms a rare outing (my back can't take it these days) and to embrace my fat curves. As a birthday pressie DH bought me a lovely vest shaped quite close fitting knee length dress from Denise van Outen collection here. I was certainly filling it out! BTW anyone seen the thread on her giving up bf? I gave up at page 7 out of 25. The subject really does bring out strong views. I am very pro bf but we have to be so careful to support women who are forced to give up for good reasons.

I will never forget seeing a woman when baby was about 4 m who I didn't know but had seen once at a hospital antenatal class, full of jokes and confidence. She was miserable and felt a failure because bf hadn't worked (very sore, milk production issues, baby not putting on weight). I felt very sorry that she was so cut up about it. We put too much pressure on ourselves I think. Such high expectations to be the perfect mummy. I'm sure I did it to myself too (and still do) but in different ways. I have to admit that was one of the things that slightly put me off some of the post birth mummies you meet at baby groups and classes. No one seemed to want to admit they were finding it hard even if they were struggling. It all got a bit Stepford Wives for me...

Still no bag packed. Bought some Asda maternity pads this morning. Time to get the old baby clothes from the loft I think.

On the "bright" side we have our new kitten. Very cute and has given DS something to help with but peeing and crapping in the wrong places. As I'm working at home and here more at present I have to deal with it. Sigh...

No heartburn here but tummy upsets happening much more, especially after fatty/rich food. Decided i will have fish finger sarnie for lunch. Oohh is it that time already?

bellabelly · 20/07/2010 14:20

Hi ladies, not posted for a while, just been catching up with the thread! Had my gtt on Friday and just got the results back - am borderline at 7.7 - and was told to try and modify diet a little to decrease risk of developing diabetes over next few weeks. MW's exact words on phone were "don't give into any chocolate cravings" gah! I was about to demolish a big piece of choc cornflake cake so v disappointed with that piece of advice!

Sorry to hear others are suffering with SPD, GD, etc etc. Still, we are on the home stretch now aren't we... Just wilting in the heat and humidity, ankles the size of treetrunks and I keep feeling sooooooooo tired. Have fallen asleep a couple of afternoons while in sole charge of my boys (who really aren't up to being left unsupervised for long, they create chaos!). They are at nursery today so going to take full advantage and head upstairs for a nap right now!

sassy34264 · 20/07/2010 15:01

No warm weather here, it's poured it down all day. But my feet have been swollen for a few weeks now. I've also started with carpal tunnel syndrome (i may have posted that before-can't remember) My hands go numb when i'm reading in bed.
Also last 3 nights i have been waking up and reaching for the gaviscon. Getting on my bloody nerves. My appetite has got lost in the last week (it's 3 o'clock now and only had breakfast) and my heartburn is worse!!! Go figure.

ooosabeauta · 20/07/2010 18:30

It was me Love2Dance, on the M25. There must have been thousands of people stuck that day, because there was another standstill in the opposite direction which seemed to go on for about 10 miles. Park that thought about the squits has occurred to me - I suddenly thought when I got back in the car that the caravanners might think that was what I had to do . I did take them a couple of cakes as a thank you, but still didn't relieve the embarrassment.

My hands are swollen so that I can barely bend my fingers. Feeling quite uncomfortable. Don't remember feeling this hot and bothered with my ds, who was an August baby, but I think this summer must be hotter than 2008 (or I must be fatter...)

I agree with your sentiment entirely Love2Dance re. breastfeeding.

parkj83 · 20/07/2010 21:01

Oh bless ooosabeauta

I can sympathise with the swollen fingers. I get problems with my hands but usually more in the winter. My hands feel stiff and swollen, but don't look it though

sassy I'm getting that with my appetite too. I have breakfast, then I'm not hungry till 2pm gone, by which time, if I eat, I just want to sleep. If I sleep, then I'm late picking up DS from school. And I don't want my tea. So I end up cooking too late, and DS and DH don't eat till 7pm gone, which is past DS's bedtime

So I skip lunch entirely, and then the rest of the day is something resembling normal (ha!)

cinnamongreyhound · 21/07/2010 08:00

We do something in my antenatal yoga oosabeauta to help to relieve swollen wrists. You your wrists together palm to palm, making a v-shape. Then roll them round towards the thumbs all the way around, pressing the wrists together all the way round. We do 3 rounds of breath in that direction and then 3 back in the other, I don't know if it works as I fortunately haven't suffered with any swelling so far in this pregnancy. Will have a look and see if I can find something on-line to show pictures if my description isn't very good.

Been having a few teary days recently I'm still worried about my baby's position (got midwife today) plus I'm find work harder and I am trying to finish my assignments for my EYPS before the baby comes and we've had a couple of months where DH hasn't had much overtime so we've been really tight with money and it's getting me down a bit. With DS being ill the last 2 days I'm knackered too.

Oh well, on the plus side I'm getting really excited about meeting my baby

comixminx · 21/07/2010 08:09

Ankles swelling, yes - and I've decided to take my rings off and not risk them getting stuck! My fingers don't look massively much fatter but they are definitely affected.

So glad everyone seems to be feeling excited about their babies, I wish I was amoung you - right now I don't feel connected at all and it's really worrying mee, I felt so tuned into my pregnancy and connected last time round. I keep telling myself it's cause I have a toddler and am so busy there isn't the time like the 1st time round.
But I'm scared I'm not going to bond with this baby and I don't know how these feelings are going to change.

JodeyLea · 21/07/2010 11:01

Sorry to hear that Mellymooks. But like you said, you have a toldler to run around after and you have only just finished work. The first time round it's all new and exciting so surely the second time you are bound to be less anxious and more calm about the whole experience (unless you have any complications). I hope you feel more connected soon x x

Well, my best friend went into labour this morning and I'm getting regular updates from her partner! So excited for her. I strated crying when I found out (bloody hormones). She was a week and a day overdue. As well as being excited for her, its making me a little nervous about giving birth! Haven't really been thinking too much about it, but today it is really starting to hit home!!!

parkj83 · 21/07/2010 11:22

jodey I know the feeling - my friend who lives round the corner from me is 5 weeks ahead of me, and I'm starting to get apprehensive for her, and for myself too

And this week has been so teary so far! Admittedly, I'm probably asking for it, cos I'm hooked on various vet programs at the mo, so as soon as the owner cries, I think about my poorly pooch and start crying too

cinnamongreyhound · 21/07/2010 12:24

I haven't been reading every week how my baby is developing as I did with my first mellymooks and I love DS more than I can imagine loving another person but everyone I've spoken to just says that you just have more love for each child you have.

It all worries me, what if I don't feel the same about this one, what if DS feels pushed out, what if I'm comparing them all the time and have a favourite, what if this one has some problems that are unforseen, what if I just don't bond with him. I think it's all normal concerns and I'm sure you will be fine too. I am still looking forward to meeting him despite these worries but am not ready not to be pregnant anymore, if that makes sense.

If you are really worried maybe you could talk to your midwife about it but I'm sure it's just a big step into the unknown and you will be absolutely fine.
