Backinthebox · 25/06/2010 16:23

PPS I has been on glamourous shopping expedition today and bought maternity pads, breast pads, newborn nappies, sick cloths - all lovely things for wiping up bodily fluids of all kinds!

Cosmosis · 25/06/2010 17:10

?lo all. Been away wiv work. Shattered. Trying to catch up.

Yay for curls and babycurls - I hope it was not too bad curlybabe and you are off home soon.

rollerbaby · 25/06/2010 17:31

Box sounds bloody bliss to me... There's a stewardess friend of my brothers who's on my facebook. She constantly has facebook updates directed at other Virgin trolley dollies saying... who can swap tel aviv with las vegas on sunday etc.? It's enuff to make you sick.

rollerbaby · 25/06/2010 17:48

Mr Moo has just ordered our finally chosen expanding cot (from tiny to bigger cot to bed later on), buggy with accessories, car seat and sling. SHITE this is really happening...

skihorse · 25/06/2010 18:13

I iz not fan of Tel Aviv. Sent there for work, got stung to shit by jellyfish when swimming and the nutters my people have built the streets parallel to the beach rather than perpendicular to it - ergo absolutely no fucking air movement whatsoever.

saltyair · 25/06/2010 19:07

evening all. Can someone plz kick my paranoid ass.

Have been feeling sicky-dizzy....haven't today so am now in blind panic of gussett rummaging in order to check everyone is still where they are meant to be (if you see what I mean)

Gah. Gah. GAH

FannyPriceless · 25/06/2010 19:17

Oh no I am in hospital. Horrible crippling pain in my fanjo and suddenly started bleeding after having stopped a week ago. Hopefully nothing serious. Doing tests and keeping me in overnight. Don't want to be here.

skihorse · 25/06/2010 19:34

fanny Does this mean you won't be doing the sex after all tonight? I'm so sorry - I hope you check out all OK and that you're back home in the morning. x

salty How pregnant are you? Lots of people here didn't have the ms - or it passed very quickly. iggy is a good example of this - she felt sick for about a week but she's all good. If you're really worried go to the EPU, but here's a slap anyway.

saltyair · 25/06/2010 19:38

That's better..

I'm nearly 6 weeks, I think....have first appt next friday. Am utterly paranoid as had m/c last time.

FannyPriceless · 25/06/2010 19:53

Ski - ha ha. Maybe my fanjo realised I was talking about doing the wild thing and acted quick to ensure it doesn't happen.

It isn't happening. The speculum was murder.

rollerbaby · 25/06/2010 19:54

Salty try not to worry symptoms come and go and my MS didn't get going until 7 or 8 weeks anyway. Ski is right, you might be lucky and be nausea free. trust me you don't want it!!!!

fanny what are they saying? are you ok? poor you, hope you're out soon.

organiccarrotcake · 25/06/2010 20:06

fanny love, I am so sorry to hear you're in hospital Please keep us as up to date as possible. We're all thinking about you my love. I found speculum to be murder when I went in with bleeding but came to the conclusion it was crappy junior doctor, not me. Was it someone who knew what they were doing??? Lots of love and healthy thoughts

organiccarrotcake · 25/06/2010 20:22

salty sounds about spot-on symptom wise. My MS came and went in early weeks (just nausea and gagging for me, niiice) and then just totally vanished at 10 weeks so I went a bit menkul for a while. In fact, to all newby PESHs - take note muser and drom - cas discovered a fab device which many of us have bought which is a home doppler (some of us bought Angel Care ones from ebay). From about 10 weeks on they work well and until you feel your baybee move they are SO reassuring.

Muser very pleased that the EPU is scanning you. Clearly it's vital to ensure all is in the right place - unbelievable that the GP didn't deal with that .

News here - MW visit (first in a month!) today. All perfectly well although I can't shake the swelling hands and feet today so was pleased to have had BP and urine checked. He's almost completely engaged which is unusual for number 2 baybee. I've got until next Tuesday until I'm term to scan (ie 3 weeks before EDD to scan) and I'm just hoping and hoping I get there and it doesn't screw up my delivery plans. I don't have any other symptoms but I can really feel he's extremely low and it feels he's trying to push his way out! (Ouch).

My MW is the official best MW on the planet. SHE asked ME whether I wanted the injection after delivery and suggested I go for a natural 3rd stage. I said I would really like to but if she recommended I have it (ie I'm bleeding too much) that I would be happy to do so. I asked if we could use threads instead of plastic clips for the cord and she said that was absolutely fine but that it was really important that we leave the cord to stop pulsating before cutting it. I was amazed that she'd said this as usually this is something you need to fight for as it's only the last few years that this has been acknowledged. She said herself that she'd been taught to cut the cord on delivery but she recognised that it's just not right.

She's so keen to attend me and says that the only way she won't is if she's legally out of hours and it would be dangerous for me. She's just wonderful!

Birthing room is nearly ready. We have plastic sheets on the floor, birth pool is up and we will half fill with cold water soon so we can top up when required in half the time. We have a table for the MW, a table for candles, aromatherapy stuff, baby clothes and towels. We've taken all the bulbs out of the light fitting and replaced them with just one really, really low energy one so there's low lighting in there, and we've put in a torch for fanjo peeking . YOB suggested we gave her a head torch which I nearly whacked him for . Cue much amusement about MW shouting, "I'm going in! I may be some time!". .

Then we went to Sainsbury's and bought 10 packs of bacon and squillions of bread rolls for the MWs. Then enough fish for 5 fish pies, enough mince for 5 or 6 shepherd's pies or spag bols, and some chicken for a couple of casseroles. Our freezer is now full of healthy ready meals (have done all but the chicken casseroles) so I think we're Nearly Officially Ready!!

CUNextTuesday · 25/06/2010 20:23

Fanny you poor sod. Come home soon my lovely away from your speculum hell...

saltyair · 25/06/2010 20:35

Blimey. Am in AWE of the cooking prowess cakebake

What plz is a home doppler?

saltyair · 25/06/2010 20:38

ah. Have googled. that is worth considering, would perhaps save me from gusset rummaging

rollerbaby · 25/06/2010 20:40

Bleedin ell rots you are one organised momma. I hope your MWs aren't veggy )

I'm a bit worried about putting up a pool in advance if the HB plans go ahead. What if the bloody dog jumps up and punctures it? Or are they quite sturdy would you say? I quite like the idea of having it up for a week or so to lounge around in.

Now, important question for experienced mums: should I worry about the fact our bedroom and baby bedroom not exactly black out? In fact it is quite light when the sun comes up. We just got new shutters for our windows which I thought would be pretty good, but they're not as dark as I imagined. It will be November, so quite dark, but another thing I'm worrying about...

organiccarrotcake · 25/06/2010 21:03

Well I didn't do all the cooking myself

I did the meaty stuff and YOB did the fish pie which is his speciality. We're a team

salty they're not expensive and well worth it (I think about £20 on ebay).

honey She put an order in for bacon sarnies . Outdoor reared, obviously. £1 off per pack so apparently we saved £12 according to YOB. WHich made me look at him slightly strangely, him not being a girl 'n' all (at least I don't think so...).

Out BP wouldn't tolerate a dog jump but our dog lives outside so is not a problemo. Can you keep him out of the room for the duration?

I had black out curtains for LC but I don't really know. He doesn't any more and he wakes at 7 whatever really, but he does sometimes argue about bedtime when the days draw later. I do think for babies they recommend trying to make daytime sleeps in the daylight and nighttime sleeps in the dark so it may be worth buying some blackout curtains to go behind the regular ones (mothercare or whatever) and make sure s/he day sleeps in another room where it's not dark.

SilverSky · 25/06/2010 21:29

fanjita hope you are home very soon!

ski our entire house is covered on random coinage from Husband. He seems to have the inability to take change out of his pocket and put it inthe jar. Instead I find it on the floor in the kitchen, bathroom, lounge and up the frigging stairs. Does my head in!!!

NEWSFLASH - I have sourced a maxi cosi cabrio fix chair for the princely sum of £79.99 ! Indeed a bargain I hear you cry! That's fifteen smackers less than the Mothercare sale price! The place to buy from is Ah-goose. Be rude not to!

I haz ventured into Boots and I today purchased on offer breast pads, coolant breast things and a starter bottle kit. So my norks are sorted.

On to other topics I was going to buy a TT electric steriliser at half price but after reading the reviews online it put me off. Most ofthe reviews said that they were on their second or third ones as they had problems with the lid. Any comments or experiences peeps?

salty I didn't have back pain or the squire nut I had severe crampage like period pains which was part of the implantation process. MS kicked in about 6 weeks and despite not puking, I felt rough until 15-16 wks though it did ease off but if I was tired or hungry or stressed I would feel sick. Hope that helps !

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 25/06/2010 21:50

Hey hey! As they say here! Am travelling for work... but have been sneakily checking up on me peshes on the sly (good old hotel wifi) and am delighted about lovely baby cas! Hope you are doing fine curly and that it maybe wasn't as bad as the ominous hints seem to suggest... Can't wait to hear more. .

Fanny - Poor thing! Awful to hear you are in hospital with yucky fanjo pains - hope they sort you out soon and you can back to your lovely babies. Any updates on what's causing the pain? Hope you're doing ok.

Muse great news that your 1st scan is set! And for really soon too. Hopefully it will be just the reassurance you need. I definitely felt very happy with mine - it was dated at 6+3 in the end and we saw a heartbeat and everything. It was lovely.

salty there is not much rhyme or reason to the early days symptoms I reckon. I would also have good days almost symptom free, which were actually bad days, 'cos they made me fret that I was "losing" symptoms. There was no pattern. I'm another one that had no morning sickness as such (sorry ski!) - just kinda burpy and nauseous for a few weeks. And farty. And actually the last is ongoing... oh la la

In fact, I only had one real symptom - fatigue - and drom, looking back, I think it hit even before the BFP and lasted quite a while, so I think that's definitely the cause of the tiredness you're feeling. I was falling asleep on the sofa after the news every night...

rots you are amazingly organised! Your birth plan sounds lovely too. Useful advice on the blackout stuff has been noted. Our blinds are completely useless.

honey you and reggie are shaming me. Right, I am really going to have to start planning soon. Though, I did do one major and impressive thing - looks like we probably have a place in a creche! Not definite of course, but on the list and looking positive. Hurrah! that was a huge worry. Hah, perhaps I have an organisatory streak somewhere. What? It's a word!

Cunty how's my Sunday bet shaping up?

SilverSky · 25/06/2010 22:01

Oh and I can't believe I didn't mention the issues with wind that I had - oh and still have.

Let's say that if I was a bloke, my mates would be impressed. In my case, Husband laughs and then is utterly disgusted.

CUNextTuesday · 25/06/2010 22:35

Sunday's a possibility. iggs I'm afriad you've lost your fiver

skihorse · 26/06/2010 05:27

fanny How are you feeling this morning you poor thing? Would you like a go in this deep-seated dressage saddle?

carrots I'm seriously impressed and I'd not even thought about providing for the midwives. I shall have to ask on Tuesday if there's anything they'd like us to get in for them. I myself have placed a bottle of champagne in the fridge ready to be drunk in bed! We too have a maglite at the ready... to be shone deep in to my cavernous depths. It's on the list of things we must have.

2nd timers - there's a thread on pregnancy right now about what they should be sleeping in given the heat and the advice seems quite conflicting. It's been 25 in our bedroom at night this last week and we're not even in "real" summer yet here. I can't bear the thought of covering him up completely and then sheets on top. What do you think to just a nappy & vest? I know carrots experienced some cold issues with LC, but I can't bear the thought of him cooking. One of the most horrible things I've ever seen was a British baby on a Turkish beach (40 degrees) wearing a full fucking outfit & wrapped up.

carrots Does this mean LC2 is imminent?

How are you doing iggy, is yours engaged and good to go?

cunty You has wombular/fanjo movement?

silver You are one canny shopper - well done you! As for scattered change - I'm now at the stage where if something falls on the floor jailbait has to deal with it. I'm not picking little things off the floor unless it's important - i.e., worth more than 5 euros. Steri kit? I bought the Philips microwave one in Asda for 10 quid so I don't care if it's shit or not. Btw, I can't quite believe you're due October - it seems like only yesterday you joined us!

salty I suppose in some ways I was lucky - I was so ill I never once thought the baby was gone. But I know curly took a huge amount of comfort from the doppler.

switty Well done on the creche front... I still haven't orgnised one . It's not that we need childcare as my hours are so flexible, it's just we think it would be a good idea to get him socialised and to stop us going bonkers.

drom/muser/gin/chocho How are you all doing? ChoCho You must be hitting the pukey stage right about now? If any of you would like to bypass puking that's fine, I'm still doing it on behalf of all of you.

SilverSky · 26/06/2010 07:36

ski Put it this way, if I don't pick it up, it blooming well stays there! We've got more loose change here than the Trevi fountain! I notice that Husband does not drop any coinage or notage overthe value of 5p. Tight git.

Husband tells people that the time has flown by, maybe it has for him. I will be 24 wks on Monday.

For the newbies, never fear the Deli is here to support you good and proper.

Whilst bargain hunting yday and debating whether TT steriliser or MotherCare own steriliser is better (both were on offer) I tried on some maternity clothes, again in the sale and it's safe to say I looked hideous cos of comedy bustage. I cannot get my boobs into any tops or dresses that have a seam that goes under the bust. Cos to fit my bust I am trying size 16 which still doesn't fit me and the seam sits in the wrong place or the arms ar attached to the bust restricting arm movement.

But If I go to an 18 the rest of the top or dress downright drowns me.

SilverSky · 26/06/2010 07:41

And I have just been reminded that we are going out tonight - WTF am I going to wear!!!!!!

tuesday pliz to predict early hours Monday morning?

rots your MW sounds hilarious - just what the doctor ordered which is a great deal better than mine as you can never get hold of the woman. I have been informed that at the hospital I want to deliver at that they have two really fab midwives who are two gay guys ! Brilliant !
