Morning . Good to see you back BUMPS! I think the hitting thing is pretty cross-gender from my experiences. DD3 has always had a problem with it, and other dds have been on the receiving end from boys and girls at nursery. Agree with GIRAFFE that it seems to be a frustration thing, and very much a phase. DD3 is very hard work at the moment - gets really cross and starts pulling her clothes off and calling me 'pooey mummy!!!' at the top of her voice (could be anywhere) . I have started making jokes about it, which seems to diffuse the situation somewhat, but rather in the middle of the street!
GIRAFFE - enjoy your day off! I didn't mind double birthday wishes by the way Twas ds's birthday yesterday.
Oh and can I be a real pain and check the day of the London meet again? I'm booking train tickets for me and older dds this week in the hope of getting a bit of a discount!
Hi to all. Af due Thursday, so will test at weekend if no sign, but no real symptoms and tbh a bit scared if it was a bfp this month, what with the implications sickness-wise for hols in August. Also a bit shocked at mc risk for 40-42 age group - 50%!!!! I have to say this has really shocked me - a 1 in 2 chance???!!! To the extent that it is seriously making me think twice about ttc at all. On that miserable note, hope everyone has a good week and that he sun shines for us!

GiraffeYoga · 14/06/2010 11:51

Ooooooh, just checked train ticket prices and it's only £44 for me to come to London for the day! It appears that children under 5 are free too, so even if I had to bring all 3 it wouldn't cost me any more Is this date definite? Shall I book?

bumpsnowjustplump · 14/06/2010 12:16

Hello all ironing down and children eating.

Diege/Giraffe thanks for the reply but unfortunatly DS isn't just hitting in frustration he will for instance, just walk up to dp or me with a smile on his face and hit us. When i am holding him and say something like "hello baby boy" he will smile and smack me in the face. I say no and he just smiles... He hits Jessica as well sometimes you can see it is in Anger as well ie when she takes something off him. The other day he cut her lip as he hit her with a toy in his hand... However he hasn't (Yet fingers crossed) ever hit anyone outside the house and is very gentle with my friends baby.

I am at the moment saying NO and making him rub the face of who ever he has hit and say "love mummy or love jessica" but it is really getting to me at the moment. Jessica has NEVER hit and I have just seen her hit him back... !!

Any thing else I could do?????

Hay moosy that is a bloody good price my train fare costs almost that and I am only down the road.....

Really looking forward to the meet up, I will have to bring both I should imagine although I may leave ds locked in the shed if he smacks me around the face one more time!!!!!!

Diege · 14/06/2010 12:17

Thanks GIRAFFE! Yes, I think it is definite MOOS! I'll be there definitely, as am combining with trip to big smoke for dds 1&2.

Moosy · 14/06/2010 12:41

I'll defo be bringing #3, will try to leave 1 and 2 at home with DH though, not sure I can do 4 hours of train journey with 3 children, let along trying to navigate London! I've only been to London a handful of times, certainly never by myself, it's probably irrational but I have a fear of cities (I'm such a country girl!) and of wandering into a bad area or being mugged . I'll be coming in to Paddington, is that a sensible place to land?

Moosy · 14/06/2010 12:47

I will be getting there at 11.24 and coming home at 4.57, does that suit everyone?

[excited]

Diege · 14/06/2010 13:04

I'm scared too MOOS .I will def be bringing dds 1 & 2 (8 and 7). Shall we all make some provisional arrangements via wagon fb just in case so mad lurker stalks us?

Moosy · 14/06/2010 13:12

Yes that's a good idea

Moosy · 14/06/2010 14:20

Tickets booked and tube map app added to iPhone

GiraffeYoga · 14/06/2010 14:53

Hurray for making arrangements!
Lets move over to FB. I will start a discussion.

GiraffeYoga · 14/06/2010 15:07

OK discussion started

Im just back from seeing a couple of NCT friends. Was lovely to to Mum things on a monday rather than working.

How would you react to this? Worried I've been all neurotic for no reason.

One of the babies was spotted with a potential chicken pox on her face. Just the one, no other symptoms.

We are going away on holiday in 10 days so I probably panicked and said that I'd keep the SG away from her to be safe.

Did I overreact? Im all for kids getting it when they are little, and 4 wks ago I would have had no issue but I really cant face the holiday being ruined/cancelled by poorlies. Feel like all I've done lately is take temperatures, mop snot and watch dh mop vomit.

OP posts:
Moosy · 14/06/2010 16:03

I'd say you didn't over react, however, CP is transmitted so easily that moving her away probably wouldn't make a lot of difference. 15 minutes in the same room or a face to face conversation is enough to catch it, so by the time you spotted it, it was probably too late. It can incubate for 10-21 days though so even if she was exposed to it she might not get any symptoms for ages yet, hopefully not till after your holiday!

Diege · 14/06/2010 16:07

Thanks for starting fb discussion GIRAFFE, will have a look in minute. Re: CP,I thought that once the rash started it was no longer infectious? That may well be an urban myth though, so I'm happy to be corrected! Really hope it doesn't become an issue!
Well done on sorting out tickets MOOS - you have inspired me to get my tickets booked now!

Moosy · 14/06/2010 16:13

I was talking to another Mum at preschool (who happens to be a paediatrician!) when mine had it, she said you're most infectious for a couple of days before the rash, then for 5 days after the 1st spot shows, but getting less so all the time iyswim.

Diege · 14/06/2010 16:23

Ooh that's interesting MOOS!

Moosy · 14/06/2010 16:29

While I've got you here ebay queen Diege, are summer bundles going well on ebay at the moment? I've got loads of stuff that F's grown out of but I cba to list it all individually, what would you recommend?

Diege · 14/06/2010 16:41

Hmm I've been quite lucky with bundles these past few weeks. My advice is to keep them small (as you're limited to £4.00 p&p these days)and try and put items together that can be worn together if that makes sense? I sold a 4-piece Hello Kitty bundle for £12.50 last week which was quite good, and 4 -piece boden for £18.99 (they went for the BIN). Def offer a BIN in addition to auction too. Good luck!

Moosy · 14/06/2010 17:21

Why do they put the limits on postage on things these days it's daft! Thanks, I will try a few small ones then, it's mostly Next so hopefully will be ok. I have to sell something to pay for the sling I've just ordered for the London trip

allshoppedout · 14/06/2010 18:12

evening

my mum is a god send[grin}
spent yest sorting out our garage for us and today the cupboard in the loundge which is great as both were in an awful state!!

cant gr8 news

hi diege and others

essenceofSES · 14/06/2010 21:21

Hello! Lots of chat today!

Tink - your mum sounds fantastic! Could she pop by here?!

Giraffe - hope SG doesn't succumb to the pox. We've got a few more days here to be certain as one of the DC on the May meet up developed spots the day after our meet! Fingers crossed all round!
Anyway, I really hope you get a clear run free from poorlies for a while.

Bumps - sorry for DS hitting. I remember my DB going through a phase of biting when we were little. Nothing anyone could do about it but he eventually just stopped.
Glad the wedding went well. Have you got any piccies? Bet the DC looked really cute! Did you treat yourself to a new outfit?

MMM - hope you got on ok today

Diege - conversations with DH are sort of all linked in. So yesterday's started with me saying I think he puts too much pressure on himself with this "I am the provider" thing and that I actually find it a little insulting as I don't know what he thinks I do for 4 days a week. I think at least something got through by the smile he responded with. I also assured him that I do intend to go back to work after DC#2 and that I'm not spending all my salary every month so we are able to save. He does want to get our extension done though so we do need to save. I want the extension done too, I'd just rather DC#2!
Oh and btw, don't worry too much about stats re ttc. There are plenty of women who successfully conceive 40+. Honestly though, if you would like #5 then go for it! In any case a few months here or there won't make much difference - you're only just 40!

essenceofSES · 14/06/2010 21:33

Ooh! Another quick DH chat!! I pointed out that AF arrived today and just wanted to understand his current thinking on ttc. He started by jokingly saying 2yrs time but I said I knew he was joking and he said in 2-3months time

bumpsnowjustplump · 14/06/2010 23:07

Evening all had the day from Hell so just supping a glass of wine before bed... Hope everone is ok.
