Miffster thoughts and prayers to you and your family xx

notso · 02/06/2010 21:34

slightlytired I might try a mixed class, my old instructor used to cater for ante/post natal ladies, shame he moved he was ace.

Chooster not going to look for anything else, although I have had the chance of re-deployment and everyone at work thinks I'm a bit mad for not taking it, I would only be working for Sept, Oct and a bit of Nov then finishing for good as I don't plan on working again until the baby is school age.
I'd feel I was messing people about and with the kind of children I work with stability of staff counts for a lot.

walkthedog thanks for the recommendation not sure what Pat Cash is doing on a pregnancy DVD though

japhrimel thanks for the link will have a look, unfortunately NCT hasn't reached my area, there is little provision around unless you are a teen mum, I had loads of help with DD, special classes, baby yoga and massage etc but now I'm a 'normal' mum there is nothing.

Looking at booking a holiday so feeling excited, also looked for next year, felt weird ticking the infants box when pricing things up!

japhrimel · 02/06/2010 21:55

We just booked a holiday for right before I'm 28 weeks and I can't wait! We're only going to my in-laws house in the south of France, so nothing exotic, but I love it there. And as we figure I'll be quite big by then, we looked into using airmiles to fly club and it was pretty good value, so we've booked that AND a hotel for the night before we fly out. Makes a change from getting up at 4am to get a sardine can flight, lol. Roll on September!

93pjb · 02/06/2010 22:19

Really sorry to hear your news Lou - take good care of yourself.

Hope things start to improve for everyone else - it really is a bit of a slog this bit and hard when you don't want to tell people why you feel so rough.

Has anyone else been having problems in the heat? I walked very briskly to the childminder's to pick up DD and then took her to the park. By the time I got home, pushing her and carrying a heavy bag with laptop etc. I felt really unwell: hot, lightheaded and generally wobbly. Had to lie down for a while to recover. Not like me at all.

Must book a holiday too, Japhrimel your break sounds wonderful. I need to get next week's scan out of the way first though - can't bring myself to think about anything else beyond that at the moment.

DuelingFanjo · 03/06/2010 10:25

Have seen the Midwife, she was lovely but not the one I will be seeing regularly so I hope the 'real' one is nice too. She booked me a scan for Monday as I am already 12 weeks, lucky for me there was a cancellation.

Nuchal scan tomorrow.

japhrimel · 03/06/2010 10:41

Are you having the nuchal scan seperately? That seems weird. They're doing the nuchal measurements at my dating scan (Monday!).

When do you get to meet your regular midwife? I haven't met mine yet, but have spoken to her on the phone. Thankfully she's seems more "with it" than the one who did my booking appointment". I've got great long lists of questions for my 16 week appointment as I didn't get any answered at the booking in.

Lavitabella · 03/06/2010 10:42

My scan tomorrow too DuellingFanjo good luck for yours

Thought I was over all my early pregnancy symptoms but was sick in the kitchen sink last night when I came in

emma2617 · 03/06/2010 10:54

Hi Ladies,

Turns out I am way more rubbish at MN now that I have DS!! Sorry i have been AWOL for so long! So sorry to hear more bad news as well, thinking of you lou and claire

I am 10+2 today and still waiitng for my scan appointment, it's so frustrating! They got my dates wrong with DS so I was scanned at 10+3...I am so desperate to see bambino!

I had a bug on Monday, just a 24 hour thing but was so ill, feel sorry for those of you suffering badly with MS, I've had a little but Ion Monday night I actually though I might die I was throwing up non-stop for a good hour!

Woohoo for all those in maternity wear, i am a little scared to buy anything yet going to wait for my scan first! I have resorted to the bobble through the button hole though as I am so bloated! No obvious bump but mega podgy looking, and it is much worse in the morning for some reason!

We are still waiting fro DP to get a job, he was made redundant....again....and has been out of work for over a week now. He had an interview yesterday which we should hear about today and he has another 2 interviews today...it's absolutely horrendous! twice in 12 months is just unfair!!!

Hope everyone else is getting on okay...scans all good and bumps a-growing!!

DuelingFanjo · 03/06/2010 11:35

Japhrimel unfortunately we don't get the nuchal scan on the NHS here so I have to pay to have it done privately. I am offered the blood tests on their own by the NHS but we decided the full scan and bloods was better, specially at my age.

I'm pretty sure I won't see my regular midwife until I am about 18 weeks! Apparently I have to book in to see her at the GP surgery about then. I liked the idea of having a good close relationship with my midwife but supppose it's possible she won't even be the one who attends the birth.

Lavitabella good luck tomorrow. Mine's not until after 6 so it seems like ages. Sorry to hear the sickness has lingered.

japhrimel · 03/06/2010 12:10

DuelingFanjo - That sucks that you're having to pay for the nuchal. Good luck with it!

I know what you mean about building up a relationship with your midwife, but chances are you won't see them when you're in labour anyway. Are you having a homebirth? I was told that it'll be 2 out of 26 community midwives who attend, depending who's on call, so there's a high chance I'd have never met them before.

I'm definitely starting to feel better this week - finally! Hope it continues.

chloesbaby · 03/06/2010 12:38

good luck to everyone who is having scans at the moment. still no appointment yet for me (10+3). i am certainly getting a little bump, which I love, but keep wondering if i'll get some horrendous news at the scan. there is no reason - i've been fine so far, no problems. does anyone know the chances are of having a healthy, straightforward result at the scan?

WalkTheDog · 03/06/2010 12:42

Afternoon

Hope scans go well today. We are still trying to decide what to do about a nucahl scan. We'd have to pay and I'd have to drive 5hours return trip (OH is a teacher so it's so difficult for him to get any time off).

I have a jobseekers interview tomorrow. Been out of work for a few months, did have a job interview (took ages to come through) but as I didn't have enough experience didn't get it. Not much in the way of decent work round here. Sure they will be delighted I am pregnant! Bit dubious how much they will help me as I am not agreeable to working 40hours a week - which is what you have to say you'll do. I have some joint problems and haven't worked full time for years.

PJen · 03/06/2010 14:25

Hi everyone,
I have been too busy for work for couple of days and missed all the exciting discussions on here... I had my 13 week nuchal scan on Tuesday and it all went well. They adjusted my due date to December 5th and I am 13 + 4 today. After that we went public and it is so much fun! It feels like the time after you announce your engagement! everyone is so nice... I have really been enjoying it...

My MS is better but not gone completely yet. I am putting on fat around my legs, which is maybe because I crave chocolate and have abondoned my 1 hour daily gym visit due to cramps and spotting after each gym session.

We are also moving this weekend to Chiswick and I am so excited for the new pad! I am already all packed and living among mountains of boxes...

Also, DH's company got bought yesterday by another company and we are very worried about job cuts! I am really hoping that it doesn't happen and I can take my 1 year off but I may have to go back to work after 6 months .

Oh well, we are all getting to second trimester, which is called the honeymoon trimester! Let's be happy and positive and enjoy it!!!

DuelingFanjo · 03/06/2010 15:37

I have a question for the people who have had a Nuchal scan if that's ok.

I'm thinking that we will have to wait a few days to get the results - is this true? I am having scan and bloods. However, they will give me info about the measurements on the scan on the day and I am thinking I might go public if they seem normal to me. Do you think that's a silly thing to do and what did you do?

PJen · 03/06/2010 15:57

Hi DuelingFanjo it really depends on which hospital you do it at. UCLH asked us to wait 1 hour to get the results so we got the results on the same day. They told me that the chance of baby having the syndroms they looked at is 1/5000. Some hospitals send you a letter in post later.

PJen · 03/06/2010 15:58

Oh and the measurment without the result of your blood work is not accurate.

SlightlyTired · 03/06/2010 16:05

Hi DF. At our hospital they advised us that if we were considered high risk, we would find out within 3 days of the bloods being taken. So they said that basically, no news is good news. Perhaps you can ask them how quickly they notify high risk people?

notso · 03/06/2010 16:21

Good luck for everyone whos being scanned and chloe and emmaI hope you get your appointments soon,
DuelingFanjo are you in Wales too?
I've decided not to pay for the Nuchal as my mind is made up about this baby whatever result I get.
Everybody knows I am pregnant as I have been so sick it was too hard to hide, I did have worries about telling people so early but when I had the bleed everyone was so supportive and helpful I was glad they all knew.
Good luck with the move PJen and WalkTheDog hope you have some success with the Jobseekers people.
japhrimel you holiday sounds lovely and far more exotic than mine, I am not allowed to fly at all during pregnancy due to my previous blood clot so we are only going to center parcs or bluestone and possibly eurostar to Disney if Dh has enough time off left.
Lavitabella I have thrown up in the bathroom sink so many time in the last few weeks, I have to sit on the loo or I'd end up weeing myself with the force of it
93pjb I got that wobbly feeling in the supermarket today, abandoned my trolley at customer services and went for a drink in the cafe.

Despite the sickness rearing it's fugly head again I have had a good day today, went swimming with Mum and Dc this morning, before the free kids swimming started and had the pool to ourselves.. bliss.
My cutie 1yo DN is coming to stay tonight, so I'm going for a lie down to prepare as he's not the best sleeper, I was really that he didn't have a dummy at first but the child cannot soothe himself, this baby is definately going to follow the previous two in the Dummy department.

DuelingFanjo · 03/06/2010 16:26

notso - yes I am in Cardiff

japhrimel · 03/06/2010 17:01

notso - we had looked into getting the train and it was very feasible (7 hours from London to Aix-en_Provence with only 1 change!) so don't feel too restricted by not being able to fly. We're keeping that as a back up option if there are strike or volcano issues.

notso · 03/06/2010 17:02

I am in the North Dueling, at least we don't pay for prescriptions

Lavitabella · 03/06/2010 17:09

Has anyone started looking at or booked Antenatal classes?
is it too early to do that as I've read lots of bits about them getting booked out quickly. I suppose I should find a twin friendly one.

DuelingFanjo · 03/06/2010 17:21

Ohhh - I forgot. My midwife said that in Cardiff they are trialing pregnancy vitamins for free. Apparently they did it in Bradfor too because both places have seen a huge rise in babies being born with Rickets! I was

emmaxmas · 03/06/2010 18:09

lavitabella yes I have booked antenatal classes through the NCT- they advise to book early as they do fill up quick.

TheChangeSpiral · 03/06/2010 18:11

Lavitabella I just had a look at the NCT classes in Bristol and registered my interest. The classes aren't until November but apparently they book up really fast. I'm finding the pricing of them a bit confusing. Am I right in thinking you have to become a member of NCT to go to their clases does any one know?
