Last time I bought some topshop mat jeans - they were fine for a while but lost their shape and fell down a lot. I have nothing left from the last pregnancy as I didn't buy very much and everything got pretty intensively used (trashed). Also I was so sick of the clothes that had they not fallen apart of their own accord I would have had a ceremonial burning. This time I've bought jeans and jeggings from Seraphine, and am finding tops in various (non maternity) places. Amazing how many smocky things there are out there. Oh, and a normal jersey maxi dress will last me the summer, I am sure.

DuelingFanjo · 30/05/2010 20:08

I have some under the bump ones from Next which I got on ebay and fit really well. I've been buying flouncy tops and dresses which aren't specifically maternity wear but I hope i can wear for a couple more months specially if the weather is hot.Only problem I really have is boob spillage!

Miffster · 30/05/2010 20:08

Claire, so sorry. Thinking of you.

japhrimel · 30/05/2010 20:34

DuelingFanjo - I now have the opposite-ish issue in that my maternity bras are so high cut, many of my tops are now too low cut to wear with them! Don't fall anywhere though - these bras are like armour plating, lol.

DuelingFanjo · 30/05/2010 20:47

I'm not wearing maternity bras, I just bought bigger sizes. i still feel comfortable but am guessing I have to ditch the underwired bras soon?

NickiSue · 30/05/2010 21:36

Thanks for the help re maternity jeans- I did start another thread which is great in "Pregnancy" bvut can't for the life of me work out how to link to it

I'm starting thinking about maternity bras as the "girls" are getting bigger and mor sore by the day- this one has "stretched" by snipping the underwiring out (tight wad) but think I'll see if I can hold off on splurging on maternity bras for a bit, as my boobs just got bigger and bigger last time, will get bigger sizes that are cheaper until the growth spurt settles down!

Wholelottalove · 30/05/2010 21:54

JodieO they were just normal ones, ribbed in bright colours, with quite long straps and a longish length. I don't think they'll cover bump in later stages without a gap but should do for the summer as they were longer than usual.

DF I'm currently wearing mainly larger size bras which are still underwired, although I've worn my maternity ones a couple of times. I really can't remember now when I stopped (or if I did) wearing underwired ones last time so I've been asking myself the same question. My maternity bras are comfier but they're horrible!

deepblue · 31/05/2010 09:08

I'm waiting on a couple of pairs of jeans from next. Luckily my fat clothes from post-birth a couple of summers ago ought to fit me for a few more weeks until I get ebaying.

We told our dd this morning. She peered at my stomach as if to say 'what d'ya take me for!?' lol. Then I showed her a picture of a baby at 11 weeks and she signed frog! I can see her point but it didn't half make me laugh :-) Scan is next Tuesday so fingers crossed we can make it that long before she tells everyone.

japhrimel · 31/05/2010 09:14

You can wear underwired, but only if you get fitted very regularly (and buy new bras for every tiny change). For me that would mean getting fitted every week or so, and would be far more expensive than buying maternity bras with a bit of room at first. Otherwise, the wires may press on your boobs and cause blocked milk ducts and other horrible things later on.

But then I seem to grow on top very fast - only 11 weeks and I've gone from a D to FF cup already and still growing!

Maternity bras aren't anything special though - they're just non-wired bras! I went to Bravissimo for fitting and bras as I need plenty of support, but they just look like rather pretty sports bras. If you're confident about your fit (Bravissimo have guides online btw) then you could just buy cheap sports bras.

OnlyWantsOne · 31/05/2010 09:32

Im fat.

Its official.

Ive out on a stone and a half since getting pregnant.

Bad times.

Persnickety · 31/05/2010 09:55

Good grief all this talk of size 8/10 and double digit bra sizes. My fat has definitely been distributed to the wrong areas. I started pregnancy as a size 12/14 and my boobs MIGHT go from an A to a B over the course of the pregnancy.

The good news is I haven't gained any weight yet. I am hoping to make it through the first trimester without gaining.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what week marks the end of the first trimester?

Loubilou09 · 31/05/2010 10:13

Arrgghhh spotting today - 12+1 and almost a bloody mirror image of what happened last time, cannot believe it, really can't. On a positive note I do not have any pain yet and blood seems to be mostly brown although did have one very bright red bit. EPU is closed today so nobody can see me until tomorrow. Daughter is crying as we are supposed to be going on holiday today but I naturally don't want to go so am sending her with the rest of my family and we will join them tomorrow hopefully. Thankfully I had not yet told daughter I was pregnant - am glad I hadn't.

DuelingFanjo · 31/05/2010 11:03

Persnickety mine seem to have only gone up from a B to a C and then stopped.

Loubilou hope you are ok, try to take it easy and stay rested. I know people who have spotted all the way through the first trimester.

japhrimel · 31/05/2010 11:32

Persnickety - I'm pretty sure the first trimester ends at 12 weeks, but the placenta won't be fully working until 14 weeks, which is when the risk of MC drops significantly.

I'm a size 14/16 normally so it's not like I'm a size 8 with FF cups! I haven't put on any weight either last time I checked which I'm really happy about as my weight is normally a struggle for me.

Loubilou09 - I hope everything is okay and you get your daughter off on holiday so you don't have that stress on top of the worry! As I'm sure you know, mostly brown blood with no clots or pain is quite positive. Hopefully you'll get good news tomorrow.

Lavitabella · 31/05/2010 12:26

Mine have gone from a small B to a big C actually look like I have boobs for the first time in my life

Lou - hope you are okay, and rest up. Good luck for tomorrow. Also had a friend who bled through whole pregnancy and has a perfect little girl x

TheChangeSpiral · 31/05/2010 12:57

My norks have gone from a B to a D already and I'm a bit nervous about how much bigger they will get. As a generally small person, I think they look a bit silly already! I've no idea whether I've gained any weight as I don't own scales but I have definitely got a bump that wasn't there before and it can't all be cake as my behind hasn't grown at all ... right?

Lou Best of luck for tomorrow but I don't think you'll need it. It sounds like you've got nothing to worry about, with no pain and mostly brown spotting, but always better to have your mind put at rest. x

OnlyWantsOne · 31/05/2010 18:22

Lou all the best for tomorrow - will be thinking of you

I have grown out of the size 12 jeans I bought this morning (it may have been the big mac I had at lunch) grose.

13+5 today (so Dp just told me, because his iphone told him!)

Hope all is well and youve all had a fab weekend.

DD is poorly

JodieO · 31/05/2010 18:44

I'm an 8 and usually a D cup, my DD's don't fit so I've been wearing my E ones (from last pregnancy) but they're getting tight too so I don't know what I'll end up. When my milk comes in when breastfeeding they get bigger too!

Lou hope you're ok, try to rest.

OWO poor DD, hope she is better soon mine have been well for ages for a change! They seemed to pass bugs around between them for months but, fingers crossed, it's all over now.

Had a nice day out today, then saw my parents afterwards which the kids loved, even though they see them most days lol. Sooo tired. I'm a bit crampy today again, feels really odd. Hoping that nothing else goes wrong.

Lavitabella · 31/05/2010 18:48

OWO - Is that an application on your DP's iphone? my DP has one, let me know

OnlyWantsOne · 31/05/2010 20:24

yes its the ap on the iphone from what to expect when your expecting

xx

TheChangeSpiral · 31/05/2010 20:56

I love that application - it tells you how big the little one is too!

SlummyMummyAndProud · 31/05/2010 22:46

NickiSue - Red Herring at Debenhams do fabulous over the bump jean which are very comfy (wearing them at yhe mo!) and are between £25 - £35.

kiwi5 · 01/06/2010 08:32

Lou hope things go well for you today, thinking of you.

told my parents, brother and SIL yesterday - my dad had guessed a few weeks ago. It was so lovely to finally talk to my mum and SIL about it. still havent had a scan tho, no word of when either. fingers crossed for soon!

really not keen on going to work today, sooo sleepy! have a good day all

OnlyWantsOne · 01/06/2010 08:47

No more talking about the iphone please, I may drwon it in the bath if DP gets it one more time and reads out a funny fact.

14 weeks tomorrow,

how is everyone? xxx

SlightlyTired · 01/06/2010 09:35

Lou thinking of you. Damn this pregnancy spotting. It certainly keeps things lively. I am only just managing to keep my compulsive knicker checking under control.

Hope everyone had a good long weekend. I spent all of Sunday feeling absolutely awful. Like a really bad hangover, which is SO unfair given that I haven't touched a drop of alcohol. Still waiting to "bloom"...

kiwi5 I am with you on not wanting to go back to work. My workload has just been increased - again - and as I have no energy and my brain appears to be eroding I am not sure how I will deal with that!

Anyone have any experience of pregnancy pilates classes and any views on whether they are worth doing? I've done a bit of pilates before and have found an evening class I can do once I hit 14 weeks...just not sure whether it will be so "low impact" as to be useless?
