Chloe, oh gosh I would be too. However, I think it is something he did foolishly and not maliciously. But, still, he has stolen your moment and you can't really have it back because, of course, facebook is hardly a private journal.

Yes, put me in the fat club as well. Oddly, I haven't gained any weight. But my belly has definitely grown. And I am not looking forward to squeezing into my work trousers on Mon, Tues, Wed. I bought some maternity trousers this weekend, but they needed shortening so I can't pick them up until Wednesday.

Lucypeanut · 23/05/2010 14:46

Chloe I understand how you feel, my dad has pretty much told the world (his local pub) luckily he is not on facebook, and I know he's just excited about being a grandad. It's annoying though, sure your hubby is feeling bad about it now forgive him though, he must regret it.

LittleB I couldn't wait either it was driving me crazy. I paid £120 for a private scan, but did find them for £95 depends where you live, I just did a google scan. Again you may get a reassurance scan on NHS depending on where you live. I also had a lot of pain, but have now found out I'm having twins, and it's quite common. Maybe you are having twins too! Good luck, let me know how it goes x

Lucypeanut · 23/05/2010 15:08

Persnickety, I too have a belly but haven't put on any weight, is this normal?

I also remember someone mentioning that they were thirsty all the time, I am drinking so much water. This weather is not helping though

Persnickety · 23/05/2010 17:46

I think I have gained some baby related weight )i.e. increased blood volume) but have maybe lost a bit of the pre existing fat - probably due to sudden absense of alcohol.

I have never been so thirsty in all my life!

I googled and apparently this is nomal, but has not happened to me before -- or I have forgotten.

DuelingFanjo · 23/05/2010 18:14

I am jealous of those of you who get the Nuchal scan on the NHS, pretty sure we don't here in Wales. I have to enquire about getting it privately and still no sign of a midwife contacting me despite me nearing 11 weeks now.

A friend of mine popped in yesterday, saw my ante-natal testing onfo pack and told me to throw it away and not bother. She didn't have any tests done and seemed shocked that I am going to

chloe that would have made me so mad. I have an over excited BIL who seems to tell everyone. I am just glad no one in work knows yet.

JodieO · 23/05/2010 18:31

Dueling - if you want a nuchal scan then I'd call round and book one tomorrow morning if I were you. Places tend to get booked up and you are limited for time. You don't need to be referred by midwife to get one.

Persnickety - I've got a bump, most definitely and have lost about half a stone so far, I'm 9 weeks and 1 day today.

Lucy - I'm always thirsty, drinking and weeing all the time!

Littleb - I've had loads of pains as well, 9 weeks also.

Claire - I hope everything goes well, hugs.

Chloe - I would be annoyed too!

I've had a lovely weekend with the kids, amazing weather here too. Stress at the end of last week that I could do without though. I posted a thread about it on legal, it's about my ex and his harassment of me and involving my dd too. It's all getting far too much with him and he even got his mate to send me texts that I saw as threatening. Intending on calling women's aid and the police tomorrow so we'll have to see what happens next.

Hopeful1980 · 23/05/2010 21:30

Hi everyone

Jodie0 your situation sounds worrying, I hope you get the help to keep yourself safe.

I'm now 8+5 and I've got some podge going on in the tum area as well as going up about 2 cups.. I need some bump hiding clothes! went to Jojo Maman Bebe today to get some jeans and a new bra but the bras were rank and frilly and the jeans didn't fit - does anyone have any advice on good jeggings, pg jeans and undies??

23 days till my scan and the end to all this secrecy...!

I'd go mad if my OH plastered our news on facebook - as I eventually get to tell people I'll ask everyone to steer clear of sending public messages as I can imagine it will take a few days to get round everyone personally and I'd hate anyone to find out that way.
xx

mumatron · 24/05/2010 08:29

hello all, haven't been on here for ages. moved house on the weekend and only just got the internet sorted.

hope your ok clair dueling try innermost secrets for a private nuchal scan. they fitted me in straight away for my reassurance scan.

8+6 for me and if all is still well i have got further than i have in my last four pg. still undecided on whether or not to book another reassurance scan or just wait for my dating scan on june 3rd.

OnlyWantsOne · 24/05/2010 08:49

Morning all, I had a fab night out, went to a pub and saw some bands with some friends (all my age) got loads of hugs and now my bump/gas has popped out, lots of strokes from friends

Home by 10.30 but was really good

chloesbaby poor you re your DP, what an arse. My Mum told everyone at her local (the village where DP and I are from) when we were 7 weeks - and we hadnt told DP's parents yet. I was bloody fuming and didnt speak to her for a couple of weeks, just so I didnt scream at her, a very silly thing to do, but sadly there is nothing you can do about it - dont let it eat you up

Lucypeanut I didnt realise you were expecting twins - how exciting, congratulations, when are you due?

Jodio Im going through some thing similar, my x took me to court for access to DD over a year ago and we are still slogging it out in the courts. Bloody horrible mess. (Infact going to a contact centre today!)

Mumatron hope the new house is lovely, lucky lady, we're not moving til August!!

Pers Im very jealous of you loosing fat i am a mass of podge and gas.

OnlyWantsOne · 24/05/2010 08:49

oh, and wear suncream....

ClaireDeLoon · 24/05/2010 10:27

Hi all, thanks for kind comments. We're in shock, there was a heartbeat and measuring 8+4 which is exactly right for what I thought. We can't quite believe it.

bigmuther65 · 24/05/2010 10:42

Hi can i join please due on the 23rd Dec,had a scan a few weeks ago and i am expecting twins. Not had the best year so far had to drop of the august thread as i had a MC at nearly 16wks in Feb,plus had 2 early MC before,so really scared it will happen again. On the plus side have 2 DS who are 16&14 if all goes well this will be my last pregnancy as my total is going to stop a 4 DC

SlightlyTired · 24/05/2010 11:32

Hello all. Had 12 week scan this morning, and all is well. Am 12+4 which is slightly further on than I thought (no bad thing). Am so relieved now, after a fairly stressful week/weekend. The spotting finally stopped on Friday (after 6 days of it) but unfortunately the worry did not. I have to say this has been a very stressful pregnancy so far and I'm only a third of the way there!

Claire, congrats - I can relate to that feeling.

Welcome, bigmuther, and congratulations on the double trouble.

SpangleMaker · 24/05/2010 11:33

Hi all, just a quickie as DS about to wake up from his nap...

Dueling dunno where you are in Wales but the company I'm using has a clinic in N Wales (can't remember where, sorry). They are called Ultrasound Now. Cost is £175 for nuchal + bloods and they are accredited by the Fetal Medical Foundation; I used them last time and they were v gd. Thanks for your comment about my wedding photo btw!

Claire that is fantastic news!

bigmuther congrats! Sorry to hear about your MCs - 16w must have been awful. Hope things turn out well for you this time.

PJen · 24/05/2010 11:59

slightlyTired congrats on your great scan!!

Claire and bigmuther congrats! Enjoy...

I am 12 + 2 today and booked for a scan next Tuesday! Yipppeee... We are moving flats on June 5th and I have started packing... urgghhh... boxes everywhere.....

What a beautiful weekend it was... I am really hoping this summer is nice and fun! It was so easier to wear less clothes when everything I got is squeezing my ever expanding body!

PJen · 24/05/2010 13:05

OWO I am now for the first time in my life feeling FAT!!! It's not bump only, my tighs are growing and I am getting love-handles! My arms are bigger and none of my shirts close due to massive boob expansion

I freek out quiet often that I m putting on too fast and what if this weight stays with me for the rest of my life???

SlightlyTired · 24/05/2010 13:19

PJen, people put weight on at different rates in their pregnancies - some people go nearly the whole way before stacking on a load at the end (me) - other people put it on gradually, etc. So I wouldn't worry. And it won't stay with you the rest of your life - with my DD I was pretty freaked out by what happened to my body but really you do get it back! (I remember in particular the feeling immediately after the birth of - woohoo - I can see my toes, I look FABULOUS! Followed shortly afterwards by OMG NONE OF MY CLOTHES FIT why why why?) My body shape did change and I had to re learn how to dress...but size wise I got back to where I was within a year.

Goodluckbear · 24/05/2010 13:37

Claire - so relieved for you!! I was all set to put a sad face emoticon and then I saw that you've seen a heartbeat - what a relief!! I'm sure I don't need to tell you that if you see a heartbeat at this stage it is really really good news!!

Welcome Bigmuther, good to see you, twins = wow!!

xxx

ClaireDeLoon · 24/05/2010 13:45

Congratulations bigmuther! Are there now two lots of twins on the thread?

On the weight thing I was fat to start with and have lost two pounds since I got my bfp, not sure why as I'm eating normally and had no morning sickness. My tummy does look more bloated though.

Saw a doctor when we were at the hospital today about the bleeding plus I have a problem with my uterus, she said to 'take it easy' but what exactly does that mean? I wasn't planning on doing anything strenuous anyway.

ClaireDeLoon · 24/05/2010 13:46

Sorry meant to say slightlytired glad your scan went well and great news the bleeding has stopped!

Miffster · 24/05/2010 14:30

Woo hoo! so pleased for you Claire, and good news and congrats to slightlytired and Bigmuther

Ha d a great weekend in the garden sunbathing.
Apart from sore boobs in the morning and weeing am symptom free now - eating normally, no nausea, tiredness barely there. Am hoping this is all good and natural ending of first trimester and moving into second (am 11 weeks tomorrow) and not a Bad Thing to be worried about.

Have booking in appt tomorrow and nuchal/bloods on 3 June. Really, really want the all clear so can start enjoying the pregnancy and not worrying about what I would do if the baby has something wrong with him/her...

DuelingFanjo · 24/05/2010 15:00

Welcome bigmuther65

claire I am so thrilled for you.

Have been having a saga with my hunt for a midwife and now hoping she is going to call me tomorrow. I am almost 11 weeks! Thanks for all the advice about clinics

I was going to tell my boss today but I just can't pluck up the courage! How do you do it!?

SlightlyTired · 24/05/2010 16:00

DuelingFanjo, there's no easy way. I just came right out and said it - though tried to avoid the chick-flick dramatics by not saying "I'm pregnant" as the introductory sentence. Think I said that I was conscious that they were planning their resource and headcount strategy and that I felt I should tell them that I was expecting another baby... Whichever way you choose - good luck!

bakingkeepsmesane · 24/05/2010 16:20

Massively relieved for you Claire; must have been a nerve-racking time. I was a bit nervous even with no symptoms to worry about but happy to say scan on Fri showed a very baby-shaped baby with quite busy arms, pumping heart & could even see both halves of brain! Glad DH was with me to share the experience.

Close family & friends have known for a while but now 12 wks-ish confirmed we're sharing it a bit more though haven't blabbed on fb. Am finding the phrasing varies depending on who I/we're talking to but I seem to prefer describing myself as 'up the duff' rather than the p word!

Glad to see others are definately growing wider & buying new bras!

Thanks for tips everyone.

DuelingFanjo · 24/05/2010 16:54

baking - me too! I only ever say up the duff I don't think I'm prepared for this at all and so it seems kind of too real to say 'I am pregnant'! I am looking forward to being 'out' though, mostly so I don't have to think 'what shall I wear today?'.

As most of my friends know already it's just in work that I will have to come out of the pregnancy closet.
