We got the Kiddizoom camera for ds (got a friend to get it from Costco for us though, so saved a few £s) and I've also ordered a pile of books from The Book People to keep him amused - a set of sticker books, a set of make and draw books and some story books. Going to get a box from Ikea and keep it next to the nursing chair and put the books and some other stuff in there. Then the rule will be, if baby is feeding, the box can be opened and something special chosen from it.

Totally exhausted tonight, despite my day off. Early night tonight I think!

cakeywakey · 14/06/2010 19:32

Hello everyone, just thought I'd pop in quickly. Hope everyone is doing ok - I'm finding myself really slowing down now and needing to take things much easier.

Am up to my eyeballs in selling our house and buying our new one - still hoping to get moved by the end of this month if possible. Thankfully I finish work this week, which is a real relief. I don't think I could go on for much longer with how much is going on

Still can't believe that in just over two months I'll have a new baby - I don't think I'm ready!

Bubbabear · 14/06/2010 21:19

Evening everyone, had a lovely weekend away. DP took me to London, 1st class comfy seats on the train & everything! We stayed in a posh hotel & the lady who checked us in was so sweet & interested in chatting abt when baby was due etc & then upgraded us to a room with a king size bed so I'd 'be more comfortable'
We also went to see the musical Oliver which was great. Only downside was the restaurant we decided on for dinner had the football showing - typical! So was half ignored through the meal (DPs not even English grrr), although it was a family run place & they were also very nice & got lots of attention from the staff at least! Lol
On the tiredness front I seem to be going through waves of energy vs exhaustion at the moment, despite averaging only about 5 hours broken sleep a night for the last few weeks. We walked a good 3 miles across London on Sunday morning in the sunshine to get the train from Paddington. Was tempted to stop for a sit down whenever we passed a bench without birdmess on but resisted & made it all the way! Although DP did carry my overnight bag most of the way & I was very glad to sit down & rest on the train

Feel like I've achieved lots today. Got home from busy day at work to find most of the furniture I'd put on eBay to clear the nursery had sold (only listed it last night!!!) so had to pop to b&q for some allen keys (plus thought i may as well get paint & cute winnie the pooh border & stickers while I was there) & have taken the bedframe apart ready to be collected tomorrow. Means the nursery will be started on Saturday - yay!

Also managed to cut the front & back lawns quickly before it rained as the grass was about a foot long Theres still lots of gardening to do but was the best I could manage after a days work at nearly 31 weeks with hayfever! So annoying that it'll probably need doing again next week...

I second what caz said abt most children settling once mum / dad has gone to nursery / school. Appreciate it must be awful leaving them in tears, esp will if my LO does the same in the not too distant future!

Well I did come on here to ask something but seem to have just waffled on & now can't remember what it was!! Oh well, will pop back if my baby brain ever gets back in gear!

Hope everyone is getting lots of well deserved rest x

marzipananimal · 14/06/2010 21:48

has anyone got a babasling? my cousin's giving me hers, are they good?

your weekend sounds lovely bubbabear!

starshaker · 14/06/2010 22:56

cant believe we are nearing the home stretch. Does this mean ill need to take my head out the sand and finally face the fact i will have 2 newborns to deal with. Hmmmmm no the sand seems like a better option for a few more weeks

Chulita · 15/06/2010 08:08

marzipan my friend swears by her babasling, I almost bought one but found a sleepy babywrap on ebay for very cheap - they're pretty much the same thing though!

It felt like lo was trying to break one of my ribs last night, woke up in agony and had to spend 20 mins on hands and knees to shift it. This morning I've got an odd lump poking out one side of me and I feel very bruised, good thing the mw's coming at lunchtime...

girlsyearapart · 15/06/2010 08:30

yep star there's plenty of room for you in the sand next to me

bouncingblueberries · 15/06/2010 08:43

girls and star squish over please! We need more sand...but can we have a paddling pool too to soothe our hot, swollen feet?

elusive meant to say last night - can't believe you've had your cough for 2 weeks!!!!! I'm only at a week and feel like the baby is about to drop out every time I cough! I've overdosing on hot honey and lemon drinks at the moment and it does seem to be easing a little. Hope you shake yours off soon.

Chulita · 15/06/2010 12:54

Well, that pain last night was LO turning transverse again despite a fortnight of OFP, I'm just gutted now. I was told that if it was still transverse at 36 weeks they'll start discussing a cs and I'm 34+5 so I've got 9 days for it to turn back. It's been transverse more often than not for the last 4 weeks and last week having it OP was at least an improvement. I'm really not happy today

bouncingblueberries · 15/06/2010 13:09

Oh Chulita, poor you! I find it really uncomfortable now when baby is transverse - it was transverse for a couple of hours on Sunday night and I just couldn't stand it! According to my yoga teacher, scrubbing floors on your hands and knees is the best way to get baby to turn the right way. So what are you waiting for? Get scrubbing girl!

Anifersgirl · 15/06/2010 13:14

Hello ladies (and chulita!)

I've been on the July thread, but as I'm due end of July and not going to be on maternity leave for another 6 weeks I was wondering if could leap on here with you?

Cheeky I know, but I've been feeling a bit behind all the lovely July ladies.

Chulita · 15/06/2010 13:25

Hello anifers!

thedogwalker · 15/06/2010 13:51

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well and managing through the sleepless nights and swollen legs, feet, fingers.

I had my 31 weeks MW appointment today and all is looking okay, my DS has moved, so he is now head down and I just hope he stays that way, bloomin well hurts when he's on the move.

Realised that he is due 2 months today, so I think I need to get my head out of the sand and start getting my hospital bag etc packed as none of that is done yet.

It is my last day at work tomorrow, yippee, don't think I could carry on for much longer, too tired all the time. (Low blood pressure)

Then I travel back to the UK on Friday to collect the rest of my nursery items, can't wait, which means the nursery decorating etc will begin in earnest next week. That surely will make it sink in that me and DH have only a little time left as just the 2 of us.

Wow I can't believe I'm going to be a Mum!!! I still think that sounds so wierd when I think of myself.

Chulita, ouch hope the LO moves again soon and you can get some respite from the pain.

Hello anifers.

well ta ta for now and I'll sign in again later to catch up.

sparkle101 · 15/06/2010 14:23

This being off sick thing is so not good.

Have been reading various antenatal threads -looking at the girls that are due in January - that is totally scary and takes me back to the early days and feeling like general poo! And just spent the last hour reading the May thread and bawling my eyes out every time a birth was announced. Can I blame it on hormones?

6th scan this afternoon - keeping everything crossed that blood flow is what it should be and that baby is happy. The amount it has been kicking today it looks promising!

CazEM · 15/06/2010 15:39

Just come back from MW check up - today I measure 2 weeks more than I should, when all along I've been spot on for dates, MW was a little concerned that baby's heartrate was just a little bit faster than what is considered within normal range especially as I hadn't felt her move in the last couple of hours, commented that my uterus felt tight and to make sure I was continuing to keep an eye on the tightenings and concerned that my blood pressure is up a little bit from my normal too... feeling quite stressed after that appointment and sat here willing baby to make a movement before I start freaking out again!!! Anyway, MW is going to ring me in a few days to arrange a home visit next week to keep an eye on me. I hope baby is ok - I don't feel very reassured right now, but I don't think she has meant to make me feel like this because she was actually really lovely with everything if that makes any sense.

On a positive note DH finally has an appointment at the hospital! MRI scan next Monday. I hope it shows what is wrong with him; he can't hold a pen to write anymore, and any writing attempts literally look like a 4 year old has had a go.

I agree with you sparkle - being off sick is not good, I haven't been searching any other threads but day-time telly is starting to make me brain-dead. At least when baby is here I'll be really busy and won't be stuck infront on mind-numbly boring television!! Haha! Although, have managed to wash all her newborn size clothes today and write another report so I'm trying to be productive as well! Hope your scan went well.

Chulita - sorry to hear your baby isn't behaving! Try lots of different positions to shift LO!

Welcome Anifers

Hope everyone else is having a good day. I have someone from work coming to the house for a quick meeting now - naughty I know when I'm off on the sick but we have to have a catch up before I go off on maternity leave, and that is looking likely to be earlier than planned if I can't hack it when I go back next week!! (or if it puts me back into labour, MW suggested my job is making me over-do it a bit and won't help the threat of prem-labour working with special needs kids)...

Anyway.... I need a chocolate biscuit or something....

weehector · 15/06/2010 16:23

Hi ladies, I'm back in the land of babies! Had a fantastic weekend of girliness in London town - afternoon tea in Liberty's, design museum, lunch in Borough Market, shoe shopping (alas no Mabel to be had at Bicester tho) and generally enjoying being me again without being permanently in the babyzone. Amazed myself that I managed driving for 8 hrs in one go without getting too uncomfortable - it felt much better than when I last drove the journey @ 20 weeks...probably because girly chat over 500 miles passes quicker than 8hrs in the car with DH...

Hola to anifers (recognise you from skulking on the July thread - hope last week's drama is behind you) and anyone else that's joined us over the weekend.

Hope to catch up with thread goings on later..pooped at the moment so should be resting but all last week's online purchases & the nursery furniture have rolled in while I've been away so I'm off to get gooey over my Aden+anais swaddling blankets and fight negotiate with DH re how 11 boxes of flat pack are going to be transformed into the nursery of my dreams before he starts a week of 12hr shifts tomorrow. You'll get 2/1 on me being tearful/resentful/seething/separated by the time I next log in. We have a brilliant marriage but it goes completely tits up when we are forced to endure situations together involving flat pack, road navigation or political discussion.

marzipananimal · 15/06/2010 16:57

hello everyone and welcome anifers
Hope your baby moves soon chulita. I'm getting very uncomfortable pokes in the rib at the mo but at least when i saw the mw today he/she was head down (turned since last time).

Is it very bad to admit that I ate a whole chocolate orange by myself in one go this afternoon?

Joey30 · 15/06/2010 17:39

Hi everyone!

marzipananimal I think you were very restrained to have ONLY ONE chocolate orange!
Cazem and sparkle I hope you feel better soon- know what you mean about daytime tv cazem. If I put the tv on I'm transfixed watching junk for ages. At the moment its just footie on tv though...
Welcome Anifers!

We have all our nursery furniture up now and all the baby clothes put away (so many... oops). Looks really pretty and my dp is putting the pictures up as well so will be finished soon! Feeling a bit organised now- just need a sling and I have everything on my list!

neurotic pregnant woman question.. do you need to wash teddies etc before giving to baby?

Off on holiday next week to Sussex, tres exciting! And all the rellies we're staying with keep proposing to take us out for dinner which is v sweet. Feeling like a very lucky girl!

Oh and 30 week midwife appointment went well! Woo

thecoffeelady · 15/06/2010 21:49

Evening Ladies,

I hope that everyone is ok.

I have such a wriggly baby, my DD was a wriggler but nothing like this one. I haven't had a good nights sleep for weeks, it is constantly on the move. This is also making my spd worse and the constant movement is making me feel quite queasy.

I am just praying that I am on time with this one, DD was 10 days late and I can just about handle another 7 weeks or so, but the idea if it turning in to 9 weeks makes me want to cry. I have booked in for acupuncture at 39 weeks to see if that will get things moving along nicely.

I have also been picking up some bargains, my friend had a baby 9 months ago and is selling lots of stuff. She has a p&t vibe which she only used about 10 times and all the accessories, a mothercare my4, maxicosi cabriofix car seat and base and a medala swing breast pump and I have got the lot for the bargain price of £600, so I am pretty chuffed It more than makes up for accidentally buying 2 tens machines on ebay!

I have the Physio tomorrow so I will hopefully get something done about my SPD. DP and I are taking the afternoon off on Thurdsay to do some retail therapy and to get a coming home outfit for the baby, we might treat ourselves to lunch in Jamie's Italian too. Then on Friday we are having the whole day off as we are finally getting a be delivered. We have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor since August, so I am really looking forward to having a proper bed at long last!

Emster30 · 15/06/2010 21:56

Hope everything's OK Caz.

All's fine with me - I saw the GP for my 34 week check the other day and everything was textbook. The baby had turned to head down, BP is still perfect, urine/28 week bloods all fine. Now I'm just counting down the days until I finish work - 7 more days in the office. I've taken tomorrow off to break up the week as I'm finding it really tiring at the moment, then working through till a week on Friday. I'm panicking slightly about getting everything down on paper as handover notes, as no one really knows what I do (especially not my boss, though she is nice), but I know no one is indispensable - they will manage perfectly well without me.

We have bought the Graco Symbio travel system, or rather my inlaws paid for most of it - lucky us! We have not been superstitious about it and it's currently set up as a pram in our spare room, with the car seat base fitted in the car and the car seat itself at the foot of the stairs.

thedogwalker · 16/06/2010 08:36

Hello everyone

I'm so happy today as it is my last day at work, yipeeeee .

Then it's pick up the new car, cot, pram and finish off the nursery. Then the big plan starts, which is me relaxing in the garden doing as little as possible.

Cazem and sparkle, know what you mean about day time tv, I try not to turn it on, as I then cannot turn away from it and end up wasting an entire day.

Joey30, good point about the teddy bears, I have no idea, as this is my first LO, but hopefully someone will let us know if we need to wash them or not.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Chulita · 16/06/2010 09:19

DD had two teddies in her cot (still does) from birth and I washed those just cos I was doing everything else. They don't have much contact with bears in the early days, they're just there to make the bed look pretty

It's our 3rd anniversary today and DD let us have a lie-in which was kind. LO got DH the day off work since we have to go into hospital for monitoring again, so in a way both children have done their bit!

mrsZaC · 16/06/2010 10:36

hello ladies,

just a quickie to say I'm still alive, no time to catchup with all that i've missed - sorry ladies, hope I've not missed any major gossip!

Went for 28 wk appointment yesterday, all is well and baby is head down ready to go already - owh what a good baby! I even got a complement on my bump size

Shame the little monkey keeps insisting on waking me up in the night but I suppose that's all part n' parcel!

hope your all doing ok dispite the 3rd trimester woes.

muchos luv 2 all xxx
