Hi girls, hope everyone is okay. I'm also going to a breastfeeding workshop on 31st July, looking forward to it loads. Also starting hypnobirthing sessions this week - every Wednesday for the next 4 weeks Mia from Mindful Mammas will be coming to our house to get us both ready for the big day - really excited about it as I am hoping for a natural home birth. I've already read the book and am using some of the techniques to try and help with the excruciating sciatic pain I am now suffering with almost 24/7. It is particularly bad at night, can't lay on either side as my hips, back and legs kill me - but now can't lay on my back as I feel like I'm having the life sucked out of me (dizzy, palpitations, pounding heart etc.) So having to sleep sitting up in bed which is v uncomfortable and only managing about 4 hours a night in 20 minute bursts. Not fun.

Still, the way I see it - I had no morning sickness or other nasty symptoms at the start so I shouldn't really grumble. Just getting a bit bored of people telling me to make the most of my sleep now before baby is born, because its just not funny! What sleep??!

Got just over 9 weeks to go now and I really hope it goes quickly, although still a lot to do. Still no takers on our house so obviously we won't be able to be near our family as we wanted to be when baby is born - but you can't have what you want all the time can you? We'll hopefully sell it before Xmas time, fingers crossed! Getting ready for viewings is becoming harder and harder, and I'm sure it will be no easier with a newborn in the house

Anyway, didn't mean to come on and moan but that seems to be what I have done! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend! xx

cazzybabs · 12/06/2010 22:46

grghhhh better be having a boy now... friend at work has named her baby mu number 1 girl's name....

dh is just back.. i wonder how drunk he is?

cazzybabs · 12/06/2010 22:58

At what point do men stop the need to get drunk... god it pisses it me off...the stink of alchhol and tomorrow the hangover....is it grounds for divorce? If only we had a spare room.....

neenz · 12/06/2010 23:09

Vix, the sleep situation sounds awful .

Cazzy, I'd say never . I left DH at a World Cup party this afternoon (made my excuses ie the twins' tea and left them all to it - I can't get drunk so would rather be at home). So DH will roll in in the early hours and then snore and/or breathe his horrid beer breath all over me. He is pretty good the next day though - doesn't tend to get hangovers, unlike myself... I always have to go back to bed in the afternoon after a drinking sesh

marzipananimal · 12/06/2010 23:23

dh has just come home in a bad mood Fortunately he's not much of a drinker - i hate beer breath! I've decided not to watch any England games this world cup - it makes me too stressed which i'm sure is not a good thing when you're 30 weeks pg!

Chulita · 13/06/2010 08:05

I'm so lucky DH isn't a big drinker, one Corona's enough for him. I hate beer breath so much!
Hope everyone gets looked after even if their DH's are hungover!

neenz · 13/06/2010 08:21

Well I take it all back - DH came in from the party at about 11.20pm, hardly drunk at all. No snoring and no beer breath! I think having kids stops you from going too crazy (too much payback next day) so maybe there is hope for your dh cazzy

Alicetheinvisible · 13/06/2010 08:37

Morning

Luckily DH isn't into football, plus is on call this weekend so can't drink. He decided to watch the football though rubbish!

I woke up in the night with a mouthful of stomach acid and bad heartburn that i thought i was actually going to be sick. Not nice, so slept propped up and feel so knackered this morning. I had it a lot last pregnancy and thought i was lucky this time. Apparently not

girlsyearapart · 13/06/2010 09:08

morning- quick post as haven't posted for ages.

DH was out from 1 in the afternoon until 230 in the morning for the footie!

Doesn't seem too wrecked this morning though.

I took the girls out to the village fair to tire them out which worked a treat- both asleep by 7 and woke at 730 and 745 with not a peep in between

I went to the pub and watched the match with friends then came straight home to bed before 10.

Tonight curry and a film I think.

cazzybabs · 13/06/2010 09:25

i am off to have a bath in my new bath ... am so excitied

CazEM · 13/06/2010 09:31

Morning ladies!

Vix - sorry to hear your having such lousy nights. And Alice hope you get a better night tonight. Pains and heartburn is no fun is it - all these things us pregnant ladies have to go through. Luckily I've only had it all mild so far...

S-FIL is coming back down again this morning to finish the white/gloss work in the babys room, and then its onto carpet shampooing when the skirting boards have completely dried in a few days!

It appears we need a new camera - rubbish timing. A few weeks ago I took the memory card out to upload to the computer, and when I took it out of the computer I noticed that the the memory card had split down the side. So anyway, tried putting it back in the camera and it was saying "not recognised" - thought bugger, but then forgot. So DH tried to put a new memory card in there last night and the new one isn't being recognised either... looks like the original memory card had broke inside the camera and has ruined it somehow! DH thinks something is stuck but he's tried fishing things out and he can't see enough to see where or what the problem is. DH spent the rest of the evening looking for new cameras online that he plans to buy start of the week! He says we had better replace it quickly so we're not cameraless when baby arrives! Thank goodness we have a large expenses payback arriving this week from DH's work.

On the drinking - I'm lucky DH isn't a big drinker either, very rarely goes out for a proper drink, just the odd pint here and there but when he does have a big session he's been on the Jack Daniels and coke! I think DH last hangover was the morning after our wedding last August when he drank the bar dry of JD! Haha! and of course before that after his stag weekend - he was hungover for 4 days after that one!!

Right I had better get on, showered and dressed. Have a lovely Sunday all!

pamplem0usse · 13/06/2010 10:35

Growingbump I know, it?s very exciting. DH has loads of marking work though so I?ve kind of started on my own. Surprisingly calming doing the woodwork though and it?s beginning to look really nice. We had to pull up the carpet to do the skirting boards and it?s so poor quality we?ve decided to replace it. More cash but very exciting and hopefully won?t eat into my Orla Kiely budget!

Welcome dogwalker ? boys, hey. Fortunately mine is now being very considerate after both his parents asked him what he was doing getting me to carry heavy things! We went to see the Doves at Thetford Forest last night and I was exhausted about 20 minutes before it was due to end and he was very receptive to taking me home, so that was nice! And crikey, 7th scan?! I?m a bit jealous! Seems like so long since we last saw our little one!

Caz very jealous that your S-FIL is a decorator. We?re doing it ourselves so I?m sure it won?t be as good, but I can?t really justify paying a decorator to do it?. Especially as we just had to have our sash windows painted (all of three of them) having had them renovated and it cost £550!!!

Alice love the buggy practise. Our pram came a few days ago but is currently in storage at the in-laws to stop me playing with it!

Vix Hope you?re feeling better soon ? lack of sleep is miserable isn?t it? I think our LO is preparing me for sleepless nights?. Have to go to the loo about four times a night now, which is especially painful as bathroom is downstairs and at opposite end of the house so I?m thoroughly awake by the time I get back to bed! Also waking me at 5.30ish!

Boo to men being grumpy because of football! Can you convince them to put your equivalent of the booze money into a nice spa treatment?

?.on that front does anyone know of any nice Spas in Brighton that might do pregnancy treatments? Off on holiday the week after next and fancy treating myself!

vix206 · 13/06/2010 12:19

I'm very lucky, DH hates football as much as I do and never drinks so its a footie and beer breath free zone

sparkle101 · 13/06/2010 21:41

Good evening everyone.

I went to Asda on the way home today to get some pudding for dinner and thought I would treat myself to a bottle of wine for one so I could have a couple of spritzers. Turned the bottle of rose round to read about the sweetness and was greeted with a huge sticker informing me "drinking when you are pregnant can harm you and your baby" - even though I have had spritzers ocassionally in the pregnancy, I felt significantly ashamed and put it back on the shelf and walked away!

Next time I shall choose a bottle which doesn't have a warning on it!!!!

bouncingblueberries · 14/06/2010 07:59

Morning girls!

Hope everyone had a dose of sunshine yesterday. I'm ignoring all your weight talk on purpose - put on waaaaaaaaaay more than 5lbs but definitely less than I did with ds, so not going to stress about it. Eating heathily but indulging in cake when I feel like it

vix sounds like you're having a rough time of it - hope you get some decent sleep soon.

Caz pics please! We want to see this gorgeously painted nursery

Well, I've decided to take a sick day today. Think I might have a chest infection so going to make an appointment with the GP. DH is a bit cross with me as I ended up working Friday (on my day off) instead of resting when my cough started getting worse. Bit worried as my coughing fits keep starting off braxton hicks. So have texted my boss and going to take it easy today. The house is a tip though, so going to have to resist going on a mad cleaning spree (well, maybe a little one!).

Hospital bag almost packed though, so feeling reasonably organised.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Ours was blissfully football free - dh not interested at all in footie, especially since Scotland aren't in it!

CazEM · 14/06/2010 08:57

Morning all!

Well I'm beginning to feel more and more useless! We were very Mother Hubbard so yesterday afternoon DH came with me to do the Asda shop; he did all the putting in the trolley, all the trolley pushing, all the trolley emptying, packing, car loading and carrying. I literally pointed at things and directed him! Yet we don't even get half way around before I feel totally exhausted, loads of BH again, struggled the rest of the way around and felt totally wiped out for the rest of the day!! DH might have to start going to Asda on his own (that'll please him greatly! lol) if that performance yesterday is anything to go by... when in theory I have 8 weeks to go I can't believe how all of a sudden pathetic I am and how it'll just keep getting worse the bigger and heavier I get!!

Bouncing - I'll upload some pictures of the nuresry on FB as soon as we have a new camera! Ours is proper broken, so DH has now decided he would like to wait a few weeks if possible for a new one so he can have a "few pound out of next months wages to go with his expenses money to buy himself a entry level SLR camera"... Men and their toys!! Although it would be quite nice for him to have a good camera because I'm considering getting the family to club together to pay for him to do an Open University 10 Week photography course for his 30th birthday next March - he would love that and is always going on about how he wants to learn to take pictures properly. He loves playing about on the camera.

Hope you feel better after a day off too.

Right well I must make sure I rest a lot this week as that it what I'm off to be doing - I'm not very good at sitting down all day though, especially when I see jobs that could be done around the house. Write one a few more reports today I think and start thinking about my hospital bag.... anxious to pack one now incase we have a repeat performance!!

List is coming together nicely now, was given the baby bath and moses basket yesterday that we're borrowing off friends. I think we nearly have everything we need for her!!! Just got to organise it all and wash her clothes now! I'm enjoying this getting ready to a be a Mummy business!

Have a lovely day everyone! Will check on again later! x x

Chulita · 14/06/2010 09:13

Morning everyone! I slept soooo well last night, I woke up and couldn't believe it! Lovely!

Ok, I need your help please - a friend of mine has been looking after DD while I have to go and be monitored every week and she's said to call her any time of the day or night if I have to go to hospital and she'll take DD or come over and sleep on the sofa til either my mum or mil can drive down and take over. She's got a little'un too so it's not like it's super easy for her to drop everything. I want to get her something to say thank you but have no idea what to get. If I get her vouchers for Next or something she'll spend them on her DD and I'd like to get something for her really. Any ideas?

thedogwalker · 14/06/2010 09:35

Morning everyone.

I am actually enjoying being at work today, as I know I've only got til Wednesday and then that's me, off for 6 weeks (all my holiday leave saved up) and then straight onto maternity leave for 9 months

Chulita Do you have a nice beauty parlour near you, if so you could get vouchers for your friend to have a massage or pedicure or something like that, which she cannot then pass on to her DD.

Bouncing Hope your chest infection clears soon and you feel much better.

The weather here in Germany is mid 20s and the sun is shining. Hope it stays this way, I aiways feel much happier when the sun is out.

Hope everyone has a great day

bouncingblueberries · 14/06/2010 09:55

thedogwalker you beat me to it - was exactly what I was going to suggest for chulita! Or how about taking her out for a nice lunch without the kids, or if that's not an option, have her and her dd round for a nice lunch in the garden one day - bake a cake and get lots of nice salad, bread, cheese and bits that can just go on the table and you can both help yourselves? Those are my favourite kind of lunches!

Just back from the GP and it's not a chest infection - just a virus. GP was sympathetic re the Braxton Hicks but not very helpful. Just gotta ride this one out apparently. Hey ho. Still going to just stay at home though. Noticed an email had come in from work but I'm going to ignore it. I never take sick days and always end up working from home when I'm meant to be sick, so I'm not going to feel guilty!

Caz can sympathise on the exhaustion front. I've felt remarkably fit and healthy up til now, but yesterday we went on a picnic with friends and even the slightest hill had me out of breath. I was wiped out by 2pm and all I did was wander around a national trust property and sit on a picnic rug! Time to slow down a bit I think. I'm also getting lots of period-style cramps. Don't want to call them pains as they're not that bad, but there's definitely something

ElusiveMoose · 14/06/2010 10:06

Blueberries I totally sympathise re the 'just a virus'. I've had my hacking cough for a fortnight now. It hurts my bump every time I cough, and yesterday I pulled a muscle in my side (I know, doing too much!), so now that really hurts as well. I find the only way to make the coughing bearable is to sort of double over and hug my bump when I need to cough, to put the least possible strain on the stomach muscles - not an attractive sight when I'm out in public! If it makes you feel any better, though, I mentioned the cough to my midwife last week, and she said that the risk of it actually triggering labour is negligible - it's just uncomfortable. She also said that there is apparently one cough medicine that you can take in pregnancy - it's Boots own brand and you have to go in and ask the pharmacist for it. Haven't checked it out yet, but may do if this goes on much longer.

I've come on for a bit of distraction/moral support this morning. Just left DS howling at pre-school, so I'm sitting here typing in tears and counting down the seconds until I can go and pick him up again .

Alicetheinvisible · 14/06/2010 10:32

Morning

Caz i felt very much like that after i came out of hospital, but have found i have gradually got a bit of energy back. Still have to take it easy, but think because i am doing so much less than i was i have a little bit of energy back to deal with the day to day things iyswim?

chulita my friend had DD everyday i was in hospital and feeding her, so i got her a bunch of flowers for her, and some Waitrose vouchers to cover the food and a bit extra.

This baby is still so wriggly (how does it have any room left?) and it is hurting me and making me feel sick with it little bugger darling

32weeks today!

CazEM · 14/06/2010 13:29

Elusive - hope your DS was ok when you picked him up. I can't imagine how awful it must be (yet) to leave a distressed child but from my teacher experiences children nearly always settle down not long after Mum has left and have a lovely time.

Alice - Yeh iswym! My Mum thinks its a reaction to the stress of being admitted and that I'll feel better again after some good rest! I really need to just make sure I slow down from now on. Hoping to go back to work next week though, don't want to start my leave yet if it can be helped!

Well so far I've written one report this morning - I'm quite pleased with that! Only 3 to go now, maybe try another one later on!
Also spent a while trying to get hold of someone at uni to request an earlier deferral than planned... Haven't been able to speak to a person so have resorted to emailing them! I don't think I have the energy or can commit to writing this essay before baby is born now. Especially as that has already threatened to happen early. Hoping they will agree cuz I could do without the extra pressure now to be honest.

girlsyearapart · 14/06/2010 17:08

Afternoon all

My sister had the kids today so I went to buy stuff for the hospital bag.

Managed about 3 or 4 shops and felt utterly exhausted- and that was after DH had let me have a lie in until 1030!

Did not feel like this at this stage with either of my previous pregnancies. Was still exercisig, taking dog on long walks etc until the end without feeling too rubbish.

33 weeks on wed so not long until I'll be wishing this baby out rather than in!

Anyone else with other children what have you bought/are you going to buy for them from the baby?

I have so far bought them a pack of play dough each, a book and some hairclips. Will probably get them a sticker book and some sweets too.

Chulita · 14/06/2010 18:10

I'm undecided what to get for DD - she's only 19 mths so it won't mean much to her. I was thinking of maximising playtime stuff so I could get on with feeding/changing etc. It's between a fold-up pushchair and a set of cooking stuff or maybe a bag of plastic animals cos she loves those. Haven't decided yet!

Alicetheinvisible · 14/06/2010 19:02

We caved in and got DD a Kiddizoom camera. She saw us looking at it online and hasn't stopped going on about it since. We figured it may be expensive, but if it helps soften the blow......

Going to stockpile some poundshop crayons/stickers/colouring books for when i need her distracted too.
