Wow, I thought lots would have happened since I last looked at thread and wasn't wrong.

mampam good luck for tomorrow if you read this before then. Bollocks about your experience earlier in the week.

greensnail congrats and wonderful choice of name, I need to update our Alice's details, as she is Alice Emily.

saucepanmam congrats to you and welcome to Gabriel, another gorgeous name

meggy glad all going well, Jimmy is lovely

All been fine here with our Alice, she is the opposite of DS, so far, and sleepy, easily comforted. Such a relief. I was dreading having another very upset, sleepless baby. The more I think about it, the more I think DS might have had reflux or something going on- I wouldn't have put it off for so long if I'd realised things could be different.

Speaking of DS... he's 3.5 and things are not easy. He is sweet with baby Alice, but being really hideous to my DH, because he wants me to do everything. He was telling me today he just wants me to be back to normal and do what I usually do. I am trying to walk the line between saying things will get a bit more normal, gradually, without giving him false impression that things will ever be quite the same again. But it does feel lovely to have 2 children. Can't quite believe it.

LaTrucha · 27/05/2010 22:04

Sorry greensnail. Got mixed up with Gabriel.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/05/2010 22:37

Good luck for tomorrow mampam and j0807.

Lovely photos greensnail .

I have heartburn after hanging upside down off my sofa .
Loved the eurovision semi tonight though - is anyone else a fan? I shall be supporting Denmark on Saturday.

madamefreckle · 27/05/2010 22:48

Good luck Mampam! Thinking of you.

Saucepanman - Lovely news about Gabriel! Saying you feel smitten and can't stop smiling is making me really excited about mine coming!

whenwillisleepagain - Glad to hear Alice is being good and seems happy to be here! Your DS is exactly the same age as mine - and it quite 'mummymummymummy'...so think I may have the same issues that you're facing. It just takes time to adjust and I'm just hoping that in 6 months time (if not before) he won't remember a time without a baby sister. Watch this space!

madamefreckle · 27/05/2010 22:52

Good luck Bump too!

fillybuster · 27/05/2010 23:22

Congrats Greensnail and welcome to baby Alice Glad you're having a lovely time getting to know one another!

And congrats to Saucepanman and Gabriel....what a fab weight

And a massive "wow" to GibberingGinger, 12lbs of baby weight...gulp....

But so so so sorry to read your update Mampam, fingers crossed for you for tomorrow.

For some reason I thought maternity leave would give me some time on MN, but actually I seem to be on even less than usual - probably because I've been having too much fun catching up with RL friends, going swimming, trying to sort out dh's birthday presents (its on 10th June, eek!) and getting life a bit organised...

I'm planning a 'surprise' birthday tea party on 12th June for dh...is that completely mad when i'm due on the 14th? I've never had an early one yet and so I'm hoping this isn't an utterly stupid idea! [worried]

For those going from 1 to 2, I echo all the sensible and positive advice already posted on here...especially the comments from DIMB and (I think) Nizzy...it was an absolutely brilliant, almost entirely positive experience for all of us DS was 2.5 when DD was born; we did focus on him rather than the baby for the first bit (lots of "you're the big brother" "she only smiles like that for you") and made him 'responsible' for showing the baby to visitors and telling them how to behave around her (which he loved!). All our guests brought him presents, and DD gave him his amazing garage which provided hours and hours of play value. We also worked hard to make sure his 'routine' of playgroups etc continued exactly as normal, with our nanny, so that the only impact was extra time with me, rather than a loss of time focussed on him. He very very quickly forgot about life pre-DD, and is a brilliant big brother. DD probably gets less 1:1 parent time, but then she has a big brother to play with, which more than makes up for less parental focus.

Of course, any advice about going from 2 to 3 would be appreciated here....

OK, off to bed, looking forward to lots more baby news

Sunworshipper · 28/05/2010 09:20

Congratulations Saucepanman on the birth of Gabriel. Hope all is going well.

Summerhols IKWYM about it all feeling a bit unreal. I keep folding and smoothing all these little baby things but still not able to imagine what it is really going to be like to hold my own baby.

cheekymonkeyno3 · 28/05/2010 10:00

i haven't been following the thread so can't say i know what is going on but just wanted to say a big congratulations and good luck to everybody. i started with you all but sadly miscarried the baby who would be due june 2nd. will be thinking of my little angel but i'm pleased to say i am now 18 weeks tomorrow and on the october thread.
have fun getting to know your little ones
xx

MrsDmamee · 28/05/2010 10:29

good luck for today mampam and j0807.

fingers crossed all goes well for you both.

Dh is doing his last exam today so im glad he will be finished studying for the summer, but it also means his study leave will be over and its back to work again for him after the weekend.
I'll miss have a clean house and my dinner made.(and my afternoon nap)
But most of all now im really worried i wont be able to get in touch with him at work, 36 weeks next week so the countdown sort of begins!

roundabout1 · 28/05/2010 12:01

Good luck mampam & jo807 - hope it all goes smoothly for you today.

cheekymonkey - sorry that you miscarried but great news that you are 18 wks. Hope all goes well x

I should be getting loads done today as dd is at school & of course it's hols next week but just can't get motivated. I'm absolutely shattered & desparate for a good nights sleep, the last few nights have been waking up literally every hour either to go to the loo or as am so uncomfortable. I keep having short bursts of energy but they are so short. As in just got the hoover out & then was so knackered & out of breath had to have a sit down! God I feel about 90, just hope dd is feeling well behaved & not too demanding next week. Am on a short fuse as am so sick of people being disappointed that I've not had the baby yet am not due til wed for gods sake, dd doesn't have a patient chilled mum at the moment!
To all raspberry tea drinkers - how many cups do you have? I'm having 2 a day but not sure if you can have more.

herewegrow · 28/05/2010 13:37

Oh Mampam pack some sweets or goodies to keep you going and maybe some thing to keep you entertained. Ipod or sudoku or something.

goodname · 28/05/2010 15:00

Well I think I may be in the early stages of labour. Started having tightening pains with period like cramps in the night quite iregularily. Then from about 7 this morning they increased in frequency but not pain until they were about 6 minutes apart. Then that slowed down but they got more painful. Then they came quite painfully at 11 minutes apart and now I am have one every 7-8 minutes and they are painful, like bending over and breathing funny painful. It all seems to be a bit fast for a first baby though so I am wondering if it is labour or just a false alarm or pre-labour. Not really sure what to do so just waiting to see what happens next.
Oh also the mucus plug came out a couple of hours ago and I seem to be leaking a little, not sure what I am leaking (sorry if TMI but it seems helpful to write all this down)
Okay just had another one and it was only 6.5 minutes from the last one.
Is this it?

AlwaysHopeful · 28/05/2010 15:45

Sounds likely to me, goodname! Exciting times. If your mucus plug has gone and you're squirting some warm fluid with each "tightening", then I'd say it sounds like the beginning on my last labour.

It's been 45 minutes since you posted - how are you now?

fillybuster · 28/05/2010 15:54

Probably time to call the midwife, Goodname, and see what they have to say...it does sound as though you might be seeing some action pretty soon - and some people have first babies impressively smoothly

DD is staying with my parents tonight and DS with DH's mum, so I'm looking forward to a very quiet start to the BH weekend tomorrow

Hope everyone is well....I intend to start sorting out baby stuff and finally pack my hospital bag (or at least get started!) over the weekend. I've got another growth scan on Tuesday and am trying not to get too nervous about having a 3rd large baby vaginally...yes, I know that in theory size doesn't matter, but in practise I've been left with complications and scar tissue after the previous 2, so am getting a little freaked....trying to remind myself that a ECS isn't the most fun either....!

NizzyNoodles · 28/05/2010 16:04

goodname sounds like there might be something happening - filly is right about ringing the midwife/delivery suite

MrsDmamee · 28/05/2010 16:21

goodname sounds like something is happening
ring your midwife/delivery suite.

good luck

woofie · 28/05/2010 16:23

Sounds like the early stages of my labour with ds goodname - good luck!

Sorry to hear about yr miscarriage cheekymonkey. Great that you've got to 18 wks now.

roundabout1 · 28/05/2010 17:06

Good luck goodname - sounds like somethings starting to happen. Hope all goes well x

MrsAlwaysRight · 28/05/2010 18:02

cheekymonkey sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Best of luck with this pregnancy

goodname sounds promising!! Call the midwife/ delivery suite. They may be able to send someone out to you or get you in to check if this is definately it. When I went into labour with DD1 they sent a midwife out to me and I was 4cm's. Good Luck.

I've booked a reflexology session for next week. Saw her when pregnant with DD1 and went into labout less than 48 hours later. May have been a coincidence but a nice relaxing treatment anyway.

Hope all has gone well for mampam and jo807 today.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/05/2010 18:50

Good luck goodname. It doesn't sound too fast to me at all. My first labour started with gentle contractions 7 mins apart at 5am, and by 9am I was in a delivery suite having minute long contractions 4-5 mins apart and 3cm dilated. By late afternoon I had a baby in my arms.

cheekymonkey - lovely to hear that you are having a more successful pregnancy this time.

LaTrucha · 28/05/2010 19:17

Good luck Goodname. I hope it's not a false alarm.

cheekymonkey - I'm so glad your new pregnancy is going well.

Filly - We always expect what we had the last time, so I can understand why you're apprehensive. I feel much the same about em c-section. Here's hoping that for both of us we're totally wrong.

Really must finish off my hospital bag too.... But musn't give birth in the next two weeks or so as the woman who is going to look after DD has gone on holiday. I didn't know she was going until she called me a couple of days ago. Best keep my legs crossed

gizmo · 28/05/2010 19:38

Oh good luck, Goodname...it sounds as if you're going to have a productive weekend.

I wonder how Mampam is doing? I guess no news is good news and she hasn't been bumped again.

Good luck to all those still enjoying the joys of late pregnancy this weekend...it already seems rather far off for me, but I guess that is the effect of sleep deprivation (DD decided to try feeding every 75 minutes for the first half of last night, followed by producing very noisy poos for the whole of the second half). Filly, your nerves are entirely understandable re 3rd birth, but is there any evidence that the previous two births were caused by a physiological problem?

Congratulations, Saucepanman sounds as if Gabriel is doing well, and what a cool name. We have no name for DD: I am considering auctioning off spaces on her birth register at school for the PTA. Must talk to DH this weekend - can't keep calling her 'Madame' or it will stick

LaTrucha · 28/05/2010 20:40

I thought the same thing about Mampam.

I want to post a note to myself here, in the hope that I take it seriously. BE NICE TO DH THIS WEEKEND.

You see, he has offered to clean the house, do a big shop, look after DD on Saturday morning so I can have a lie-in, take me to the garden centre so I can get the bits I keep moaning about and do the bits in the garden I keep moaning about and if he has time, reorganise DD's room. He is also steam cleaning the carpets next week, which is his idea. I also know for a fact he will be desperate to start work on the last draught of his book, due in VERY soon and he is putting me first.

I also know for a fact I am a mardy MARE right now and will find some excuse to lose my temper with him.

DON'T DO IT LaTRUCHA!

Please, if I do will you all give me a good kick up the arse?

mampam · 28/05/2010 20:45

No I didn't get bumped again!

Baby Tilly May was born this morning weighing 9lbs 11oz. She's totally gorgeous and has a full head of black hair!

CS scar a little sore on one side but the amazing thing is that I cannot feel any SPD pain.

Sorry for short post but am on bedside entertainment thingy and it's a touch screen keyboard above me and my arm is killing!

goodname good luck xx
