Same for me, summerhols. This will be number two for me and I'm still surprised every time it occurs to me that very soon there will be a new person living in our house!

Congratualtions Saucepanman. A glorious baby boy. Did you say he is number 4?! Good for you lady, you are so lucky.

Roundabout1 Thanks for the info that the baby's head can engage and then pop out again - I had no idea. I am pretty sure I felt it engage (It made me go "OW!" and made Mr GB go "OMG have things started?!"), but haven't yet felt it pop out. So that is something I am going to keep an eye on.

There is a lot of movement very low down which is soooo uncomfortable, but at least breathing is easier now I don't have a foot in my ribs.

NotGrownUpEnough · 27/05/2010 16:06

well....i've just paid £40 to have someone burn a candle next to my little toe (moxibustion). I feel like i've been totally swizzled. Not even a nice little foot rub or anything thrown in. Anyone know when something is supposed to happen? I know it doesn;t always work first time but i can;t see myself justify the cash again if i'm honest.

Back on the ironing board it is then I'll think if you as my upside down buddy earlyonemorning!

greensnail · 27/05/2010 16:24

Congratulations saucepanman glad things went well for you.

I drank raspberry leaf tea in the run up both times and I like to think it helped. I had quick labours both times anyway, despite them both being early inductions. MrsAR the tea used to bring on really strong braxton hicks and sometimes my bump would go hard for ages. Midwife didn't seem worried - said its normal to feel them much more strongly in 2nd pregnancies.

All still going well here. Alice seems to be a very contented baby. Unfortunately DD1 seems to be realising that she's here to stay and has been a bit cross this morning at not always being the centre of attention. Will take them both to toddler music tomorrow and then my parents are coming for a few days so she'll be getting plenty of attention from my dad for a while - keeps them both busy which suits us all! Will try and put some photos on later if I get a chance.

mampam good luck for tomorrow, hope it all goes smoothly this time.

goodname · 27/05/2010 16:24

Summerhols I know what you mean. I cannot believe I will actually have a little person to look after so soon. Also I keep looking at all the horrible looking teenagers in town and think Oh crap I will have to look after one of them someday soon and they all look awful. Ahh! What have I done. Oh well too late now.
I feel prepared in a practical, everythings ready sort of way but not at all prepared mentally/emotionally.

sobloodystupid · 27/05/2010 16:29

Am in bad mood today - what's new? . Work crapola continues... NGUE and early thanks for making me laugh. Good luck tomorrow mampam, please keep us updated.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/05/2010 16:38

NGUE - did she not give you the moxa to use at home afterwards? Mine said to use it twice a day if poss for 10 days, although obv to stop if I feel baby turn! Mine cost £55 (but only £45 for any other appt I have with her in future), but she also stuck some needles in my legs in general 'good for pregnancy' points, and a couple of needles in my buttock where I have been suffering badly from sciatica.

mampam · 27/05/2010 16:44

Congratulations saucepanman I love, love, love the name Gabriel

Not really in the 'zone' for tomorrow. I have had virtually nil sleep since Tueday and have had to have a snooze earlier on as I could barely function.
I can't help but feel it's all going to be a total waste of time again tomorrow although I won't be so easily persuaded to go home this time.
It's been hideous when I've taken DC's to school and everyone wants to know what happened. I hate going over it time and time again. Even the kids in DD's class have been coming up to me and saying "still not had it then?". I suppose that's quite sweet/funny really.

Oh well, what will be, will be.

NotGrownUpEnough · 27/05/2010 16:46

CSWS - I got nothing, i literally lay on a bed for 30 mins whilst he held a burning candle next to my toe then i got up put my shoes on and off i went. What a swizzler. I don't have loads of dosh (and haven't ever had a holistic treatment before) so feel totally taken advantage off. Yours on the other hand sounds like it was lovely.

Oh well, live and learn, i'll know to ask whats involved before hand next time. I'm rockin n rollin on my birthing ball as i type this so hopefully something will happen soon anyway

NizzyNoodles · 27/05/2010 17:22

goodname I've got a dodgy stomach and cramps today too but not sure it's going to lead to anything

Fingers crossed for tomorrow mampam

mampam · 27/05/2010 17:53

Suddenly having a craving for a pie!! But no ordinary pie, it would have to be one from Lancashire cos you can't get a better pie than one from Lancs .

dinosaurinmybelly · 27/05/2010 18:33

Hello - re: turning the baby, when I read the hypnobirthing book there was alot in there about visualisation and connecting with the baby before the birth so that you can get into the zone of 3 people being involved in the labour etc. There is also a bit about using visualisation to turn a baby that is breech - you just have a lie down and get into a good relaxed state, then talk the little one into moving into a good posiiton - they say it works, and it costs nothing, so maybe worth a go - although if your house is anything like mine at the moment, I rarely get 15mins of peace to do something like that.

Before DS1 someone gave me some great advice about arnica tablets and lavender oil in the bath to promote healing after any type of birth. I felt it worked, but maybe it was also good for my psyche to have a routine and feel like I was doing something IYSWIM. They also told me to have a jug or beaker handy to pour some lukewarm water over myself when I peed for a while, just in case the stitches stung - that was invaluable advice IMO.

It is so lovely to have all these babies arriving - I agree even with no.3 for me it has always been a bit of shock when they are actually here and you have to switch into a different mode of caring for them, but don't worry any firsttimers - it is a very natural adjustment, and while everything is new to you - your judgement is best when it comes to your own baby and the MN thread will be a great support to you if anything troublesome comes up.

Congrats saucepanman - Gabriel is a gorgeous name.
Good luck for tomorrow mampam - sending you lots of positive vibes that they take care of you and that it turns out to be the wonderful day that you deserve.

NotGrownUpEnough · 27/05/2010 19:13

RnB · 27/05/2010 20:27

LaTrucha · 27/05/2010 20:44

Good luck Mampam.

Gorgeous photos Greensnail. He's a good-looking boy. Well done you.

woofie · 27/05/2010 20:45

Congratulations saucepanman on Gabriel's safe arrival! They're really arriving thick and fast now!

greensnail - gorgeous pics of Alice.

Sending you lots of good vibes for tomorrow mampam. hope it goes really well for you.

Fab day out with ds at the Sealife Centre in Scarborough today. He's being a total dote at the moment, so I'm determined to make the most of these last few days a deux. Having been consumed by inertia all yesterday, have had a fit of energy and happy hormones today. Wonder what schizophrenic turn tomorrow will bring...

goodname · 27/05/2010 20:52

hope everything goes much better tomorrow Mampam

Well done greensnail, cute baby photos

I just ate a nice hot curry to try and move things along as have been feeling pants all week. Now I have a splitting headache and heartburn on top of the dodgy stomach/bowels thing

mampam · 27/05/2010 21:12

Lovely pics of Alice greensnail.

MonkeyMargot · 27/05/2010 21:26

gorgeous pics of Alice greensnail

Bon chance mampam !!

j0807bump · 27/05/2010 21:41

mampam good luck. went for pre-op today, had blood pressure done and a trace as well as being given my antacid and being told to come back tomorrow at 8.00

thought i might have seen surgeon or anethetist(sorry(blush)) or told anything that is going to happen tomorrow but no.

can only assume this is because had previous emcs? they have given me no time slot for tomorrow so i guess in a way i can't be too dissapointed if emergencies come in.

woofie · 27/05/2010 21:46

Ooh, good luck to you too j0807bump
