Thanks for sorting out the new thread CSWS. And lovely presents for the DC - clever baby for finding them! Still need to sort ours out.

I'm feeling completely washed out this morning after being up in the night with DD who is full of cold. Not much chance to take it easy today either with DD's music group this morning and then the hospital this afternoon.

MrsDmamee · 07/05/2010 10:12

oooh shiny new thread thanks CSWS

scan yesterday showed not much change in kidney its still 13-14mm dilated, and is still in the moderate-severe range.
But it had only increased by 1mm which according to consultant is a good sign.

Was a bit upset afterwards as I feel I'm drowning in a sea of appointments . Maybe its just this week as I had 3 different appointments.

Must find some lego for my ds2 as a gift from "his" new baby. My ds1(teenager) really wouldnt believe baby had bought him something, so a chore free week in Grannys would keep him happy

imkeepingmum · 07/05/2010 10:17

Just marking my place

woofie · 07/05/2010 10:25

Just bookmarking.

Following the unfolding election results in trepidation. What a mess - the bonkers first-past-the-post system is now not only crushingly unfair, but also unable to deliver a clear winner. All these June babies are going to be emerging into a very uncertain Britain...

roundabout1 · 07/05/2010 11:17

Love the new title for the thread.
Thanks ladies for calming me down re - waters breaking in public, feeling more rational about the whole thing now! My job for today is to pack my hospital bag, have been putting it off although have got the bits I need (I think!) & also packing an extra bag in case I need to stay in a few days, last time I was in a week with dd & although dp tried his best following my instructions on what to bring in he didn't always get it right!
Mrs D - Sorry you were feeling upset after your appointment, good that the consultant thinks the results are a good sign though.
Re - presents from the baby, my dd is 5 in Aug & don't think she would believe a present was from the baby, should I get her a present & have it from us instead for being a big sister?

dinosaurinmybelly · 07/05/2010 12:41

Haven't actually sorted, but we've decided the baby will bring a bike for DS1 (40mths), and a goldfish for DS2 (20mths). DS2 seems to really like fish, so we thought this was appropriate, although DH has reservations as he remembers not having great luck with fish when he was a boy.

DSs are recovering well now from their bout of croup which is such a relief - it was horrible seeing them so poorly when I really want us to have fun on these last few weeks as a family of 4. Midwife appt this week went well - I see a consultant next week (it's a legal requirement over here if you are under the care of midwives) and have been told to expect a 2hr wait before being called in for the appt. I'm having trouble sorting a babysitter, so am just going to bring the DSs with me, check - in , then go for a wander for and hour & half before coming back.

So pleased that Friday is here again and of course very interested to see how everything pans out now that the election results are in. Hope none of you had any issues with voting - I do feel bad for those poor people waiting in line for ages only to be turned away

fillybuster · 07/05/2010 13:05

Well done on the new thread CSWS, and loving the present to the dcs from the baby.

I think we've decided on an electric hand-held game for DS (I wouldn't normally, but he doesn't ever get to watch tv, and has just 'lost' his bedroom to share with DD, so I think he needs something that is just 'his' that he can play with on his own quietly sometimes after school and in holidays....any thoughts anyone?), a bunch of doll/baby clothes for DD who is barmy about dressing her dolls at the moment and a shared trampoline for the garden. But am really liking the fish idea....hmm....

Back from the hospital, after my growth scan this morning. Its another big one...panic! Apparently its big enough for them to decide I need another scan at 38 weeks to monitor growth Eeeeek!!!!

This one is potentially larger than DS and DD so I'm just a bit nervous...I know I got the previous 2 out (with attendant cutting/tearing) but this one has an enormous head on the scan which is making my panic slightly....

DH was funny, as he's been quite dismissive of my general discomfort until now (in a nice way) and thought the growth scan was going to be a bit of a waste of time and effort. Suddenly he's realised that if the baby is already approx 6lbs 7oz at 34 weeks that its quite a big deal carrying a big baby and really bloody uncomfortable!!! Even funnier was the consultant who looked at me, looked at dh and then asked "are you sure he's the father?" DH and I are both fairly normal heights (I'm 5'8" and dh is just over 5'10") but we're both quite slim....this baby is majorly bulky and tall! (My dad is 6'3" and my FIL was over 6', so we do know where the tall genes come from, but its pretty funny )

Right, time to get back to work, hope everyone is having a nice day and getting some sunshine. I'm knackered, as we stayed up watching the election results until after 1.30, then had to get up early to get to the hospital....yawn....

ConservativesShouldWinSurely · 07/05/2010 13:12

Your ds is a similar age to my dd isn't he filly? If so, then I'd recommend the leapster2. Dd got one for Christmas and has played with it lots.

A goldfish requires some adult looking after, so we ruled that out .

OP posts:
LittleRobbo · 07/05/2010 13:18

filly yep,i'm with you on the big baby, midwife reckons mine is around 7lb now at 35 weeks i didnt know DS2 was going to be big until delivery, but knowing already with this one is making me very apprehensive about the birth, which isnt good really,i wish i didnt know in a way, would have preferred a 'nice' surprise!

ItsNotOnlyTheGoodBits · 07/05/2010 13:35

Hi,

Can I join this thread as a latecomer? I am usually a lurker, but chanced upon this and figured it would nice to go through this with others. I am 35 and this baby was semi-planned, in that we had talked about it, just didn't expect it to happen so quickly!

Cost Centre #2 (official name, will go on the birth cert!) is due on 16 June. Currently have CC1 who will be 4 in July.

Have bought a present from CC2 to CC1 - a gruffalo dinner set. Have also got a present from CC1 to CC2 - a Peter Rabbit cuddly toy.

Need to buy - a wardrobe for CC1 so CC2's stuff can go in the current chest of drawers. A cot for CC2, as CC1's room is too small for a single bed so can't reuse the current cotbed. Baby gros - we gave CC1's stuff to charity, but have kept most of his clothes.

Also have b'days for my NCT group all in June/July plus two siblings, so that is seven b'day presents. AND CC1's b'day present for July.

My mother is on call to help with CC1, as is my cleaner if my mother is working. My in-laws will arrive a week or so after the birth and stay for a few months (yes - I know!). Mr. GoodBits wanted them to come before the birth - I put my foot down...nicely.

Need to have a scan at 36 weeks (24 May) because of low lying placenta. If it hasn't moved up I will need a CS. Otherwise I am feeling great, baby is kicking and I have nothing to complain about.

LaTrucha · 07/05/2010 14:44

Bookmarking - back later.

bubs1 · 07/05/2010 15:29

Bookmarking too. Also can mentione my age at 37 on the list

meggymegmegs · 07/05/2010 16:01

Just bookmarking and mentioning that I am in the final of 'work' before mat leave commences!

Lots of MN time next week when I can finally start nesting properly which I am itching to do.

Great new thread title!

meggymegmegs · 07/05/2010 16:02

That should have been 'final hour of work'...

mampam · 07/05/2010 16:16

Nice new thread thanks CSWS.

Meggy Theoretically speaking I too am on my last day of work . My Mat leave starts on Monday.......bit of a joke seeing as I've been signed off work since October.

Feeling so much better now I have a date for CS. There is now an end in sight. Still not thinking about when he baby is born though, am still thinking in terms of step by step it's the only way to get through these painful days. The next step will be to see my GP about my blood test and ECG, then the pre-op, then the real thing!!! Secretly hoping I'll go into labour beforehand. Any tips on how to try and get it started? And before anyone says it........sex is definitely NOT an option!

gizmo · 07/05/2010 22:46
j0807bump · 07/05/2010 23:12

latecomer thought i'd say hello.
not a regular just pop on for an hour or so when DS 2.9 goes to bed and i should really be too.

i'm due 4th june so 36 weeks now. unplanned ( ) DD going to be here so soon now it's not funny.

life is mad. DS started preschool at easter 30 miles away in the town were moving to last week june. the house has hit a huge delay and we are going to have to all pile into my parents house when our lease is up 4th july. at least i'll have a bit of extra help.

going to have mode of delivery consultation on tues. had to have emcs at 40+15 last time due to terrible postion and failed vontouse. this one is back to back too so they may decide to do a cs the last week of may.

anyway, may pop in from time to time. sleep calls!

NotGrownUpEnough · 08/05/2010 10:48

Hello, just marking place. Loving the new thread title

woofie · 08/05/2010 15:24

welcome latecomers! j0807 - we're in the same boat - looks like completion date and due date might be more or less the same

notonlythegoodbits - sounds like you're in for an expensive couple of months... I think ds2 is planning to get ds1 a stomp rocket. Clever wee chap.

I'm washing newborn clothes this weekend (tears!) and finally getting round to doing the hospital bag. filly - I finish work on 21st too - 8 more days and counting...

NotGrownUpEnough · 08/05/2010 16:46

hi all, can i ask what the general idea is on when i should finish work. I currently am planning to finish on the 18th June, 12 days before my due date, as i want as much time off work afterwards as possible but everone is now seeming a little shocked when i say this. Do you think i should finish earlier? Also, work is now not as fun as it was. Find myself getting super stressed and emotional over the slightest thing. Is anyone else having this?

imkeepingmum · 08/05/2010 17:40

Notgrownupenough - I am finshing 4 weeks before my due date but taking annual leave before I start maternity leave. I am finding work really hard going to be honest so I know exactly where you are coming from on the stressed and emotional feelings, and getting extremely tired even from one day. Luckily I have an arrangement to work from home as much as I need to before I start leave, otherwise I might have caved in and started leave much earlier.

Ladyemmalou83 · 08/05/2010 17:46

Hi Everyone

Not been on the June thread for a little while, name had been removed, so hope no one minds but I've put it back on with bumps colour.

Apologies for not contributing much: just been a bit of a bumpy ride so far with the Hypremesis. All seems calm for now. Got a scan on tuesday due to static growth, bit worried but will be lovely to see her again.
