Hello everyone - and congratulations to everyone who has joined in the last few days.

Glad to have some company in the m/c obsessing and also in the queasiness!

Feeling gross since last Thursday, but then a bit better today, but instead of being pleased, am now simply convinced that means m/c. Someone lock me in a box for the next 8 months please.

Saw GP last week who told me I needed to decide which hospital to go to asap - has everyone else had to make this choice by now too? Feels like tempting fate - I was going to think about that maybe after a good 12 week scan!

Have good afternoons - remember to eat something before you leave work!

RobynLou · 18/05/2010 15:13

seablue - you normally have to go to the hospital for the scan so you have to decide before then...

I'm hoping for a homebirth, had a crappy hospital experience last time but the birth itself was v straightforward, so fingers crossed!

I've got incredibly sore boobs and am still bfing DD

DeeLL · 18/05/2010 17:12

Hello Everyone, and congrats to anyone who has joined the thread. I posted this elsewhere, but realised it would probably be more appropriate here...A quick question as it's my first...I went to the GP last week Monday after my BFP at the weekend, but have heard nothing since. I'm not too sure what to expect now, when should I have my booking in appointment by? (I'm 8 weeks). The scan I know comes at 12 weeks, so I'm not sure if I should be following up, it would be nice to see a midwife and unleash all the questions buzzing around in my head! We are waiting to tell people so I'm probably driving my DP mad at the moment!

Margie32 · 18/05/2010 17:30

Hi everyone,

Congrats to all those of you who joined in the last few days. seablue and DeeLL I can't help with your questions I'm afraid, as I live in Spain and I imagine things work differently here and in the UK. I haven't posted for a while as I've had my Mum and Dad staying - I didn't tell them I'm PG, as I want to wait until I've had the first scan, but I'm sure my Mum suspects something!

Has anyone else got a bump already? I'm convinced I've got more than one in there as I'm already showing at 8 weeks!!! I know it could have something to do with all the croissants I've been eating, but even so, it's really noticeable. I suppose that because this pregnancy has come so soon after the first, everything is already stretched, but still...I feel v large!

Apart from that I panic about MC everyday - last week I was having loads of weird discharge (sorry - TMI) and I was worried it meant a MMC, and now it's calmed down a bit and I'm wondering where it's gone! Can't win. 9 days and counting until the first scan and the time is dragging on - I'm so desperate to know if everything's ok.

Anyhoo, enough rambling for now. Am off to eat some of the cadburys my Mum bought me...

littlehuman · 18/05/2010 18:03

no bump at all
however it looks like i had a boob job lol!!!

deelli went to my gp when my home test was positif and the surgery i go to seem to organise everything about 10days later i received a letter for my 1st appointment with the midwife and the date of my 1st scan,
shortly followed by my exemption for dental treatment and medicines.

robynlouhoping for homebirth too but if anything the main edinburgh hospital is around the corner from mine... so...

littlehuman · 18/05/2010 18:08

deedee321 i got 2 cats too, until now they are my babies lol so no way i dont touch them for 9 months!!!

deedee321 · 18/05/2010 18:23

Hello everyone, feeling much calmer today, Have booking-in appt with midwife tomorrow and she is testing me for immunity to toxoplas as my cat is ill and has been being sick regularly. When not being sick, is sleeping on my bed, aaargh! Anyway, chances are I'm immune as he has always done so!

deeLL why not give the surgery a call and check they are following it up, at least will put your mind at rest?

Anyone else finding it exhausting trying to go to work, come home and tear around after a livewire toddler and be pregnant?? Thank god I only work 2 days a week!!

hackneyzoo · 18/05/2010 19:28

Hi Robinlou and Littlehuman, can't recommend homebirths enough, I had one with my DS in jan 09 and it was a really positive experience, am definitely going for it this time again. (Just to add DD was born in hospital and that was fine too!)

mama...how are you feeling about no 3 coming along? I am completely excited but terrified at the same time...have been longing for DC 3 ever since DC2 was born...so feels like everything will be complete. My Dcs are 3 and 15 months, DH is a SAHD and works evenings and weekends ....but with 3 DC I am planning to go back after 6 months to qualify for my maternity pay and then swap with DH and be a SAHM for a bit.

Deedee...toddlers make pregnancy twice as tiring! I can sympathise.

Bubba, I have just hit 6 weeks and am suffering with the morning sickness, my other two were exactly like this and magically disappeared overnight bang on 12 weeks....roll on 12 weeks!

BubbaAndBump · 18/05/2010 19:35

You're lucky hackneyzoo - my first two pregnancies were nauseouslicious from week six to week 16 - Pukey Malukey was my DH's nickname for me!

I'm also thrilled to be pregnant with #3, although haven't quite worked out where to put it!!!

LadyBuzz · 18/05/2010 21:05

No bump here but my 'fat' jeans are getting a little tight

No cravings, I really don't fancy food at all at the moment. Still grumpy and feeling a little sicky most of the time.

I am completely wiped out though, DS2 is really poorly and has been up alot throught the last few nights and it has floored me completely.

margie32 twins? well I expect with there being so many of us there is bound to be at least 1 multiple

deedee hope you get your cat situation sorted and you are immune.

Partyofseven · 18/05/2010 23:35

Hey all just a quick update from me.

Still no af, but i bought two cheapie tests today and did and it was negative soooooo not sure what to think at mo, I was shitting myself before hand incase it was positve (have 5dcs the youngest only 16wks and havin to go back to work ft in sept) but when it said negative i was v. disappointed. I will do the other test tomorrow if still no af and if still negative will buy a clearblue/firstresponse at shopping on friday. just kinda feel a bit in no mans land.

hope everyone is doing ok and not feeling too poorly

deedee i have two cats and two rabbits while pg last year, gave birth in jan2010 and as dcs not responsible enough i did all the cleaning feeding etc, and only advice was wear gloves and wash hands properly afterwards, we had no problems though.

mamasunshine · 19/05/2010 07:52

partyofseven - I had several negatives first, even though I knew I was pregnant. Then had a very faint line on a first response, then did one every couple of days, and they got stronger. (I've stopped doing them now!) Maybe leave it 2/3 days if you can and do a 1st response.

seablue · 19/05/2010 12:05

Hi Robynlou - my antenatal scans would be at the hospital near me, but it doesn't have a maternity wing - hence my comment! otherwise, yes, I totally take your point that I'd have to have chosen an hospital by the time I had a scan - sorry that must have seemed really stupid!

Hungry, sick but nothing seems appealing. Ugh.

partyofseven - I hope all becomes clear soon!

Reb01 · 19/05/2010 15:06

Hi all,

I'm 7 weeks today and have a private scan booked for tomorrow. Over the past couple of weeks I've had some brown discharge (TMI!!), and have managed to completely work myself up trying to get an early NHS scan arranged - which is why I gave up and booked privately!

Am very nervous, but have my fingers crossed!

Deedee - I've also got two cats and very pleased to have an excuse to get out of litter changing duties

BootleBumtrinket · 19/05/2010 16:08

Hello All,

Sadly I am bailing from this thread . My scan showed a non-viable pg.

Good luck everyone!

littlehuman · 19/05/2010 16:50

bootlebumtrinket sorry to hear that.
hope you be luckier next time!

just find out that i got hypothyroidism today(3 weeks away from 1st scan)and only started to be treated for it today so anxious for 1st scan too..

BubbaAndBump · 19/05/2010 18:10

Big hugs bootle

deedee321 · 19/05/2010 18:19

Oh am so, so sorry bootle. Everyone on here will be totally gutted for you. Big hugs and hope you are ok.

littlehuman, will that affect your pregnancy in any way? Poor you, any complications just make your heart sink...am sure they will monitor you closely though and keep you in good condition.

I saw my midwife today for first appointment and felt greatly reassured. Thanks so much everyone else for stopping me freaking about my poor, ill pusscat. Nausea has started kicking in properly and although it is clearly grim, it does make things seem a bit more real.

LadyBuzz · 19/05/2010 18:51

bootle sorry to hear that

littlehuman try not to worry, my RLF has it too, she is 14 weeks now and they just said they would keep a close eye on her. Fingers crossed it will be the same for you!

kipperthedog · 19/05/2010 19:06

Hello all nice to meet you,

sorry to hear your news bootle

Have just found this thread, great to have people to share with.

I'm 35 & this will be dc3, others are 7 and 5 so it all seems like new as it's been a while! Think I'm due 29th Jan, am having a scan June 3rd to confirm dates as I don't really have a clue (was on pill then havent had a period for 3 months)

kipperthedog · 19/05/2010 19:50

DeeLL my midwife phoned me after i'd been to the docs to say i'd had positive test & she said they would book me in at around 8 weeks so yes i agree might be worth calling them & seeing what's happening.

Reb01, good luck with your scan tomorrow, hope all goes well, keep us posted

As for me, am feeling sick, tired & grumpy with sore boobs! Hss got to the stage today where i just can't face eating anything much. Really want to tell people but can't yet. Have also been worried about mc as had some spotting but am hoping its ok as i feel so rotten.

My first 2 kids were with my ex-h, this one is with my bf so have got extra worries this time of how the dc's will react when they know & it arrives. Also as was unplanned has coincided with us opening our own business so am stressed out with that & super busy, I just want to put my feet up!!

mamasunshine · 19/05/2010 21:16

bootlebumtrinket - I'm so sorry to hear your news , hopefully you are being well looked after...sending big hugs.

littlehuman - hope the hypothyroid doesn't cause any probs, at least they know so can keep an eye on you.

reb01 - good luck for scan tomorrow

hackneyzoo - Feeling the same as you; excited and terrified!! Can't wait really I also had a homebirth with ds2, after EMCS with ds1 (bad experience). But had home VBAC and was completely AMAZING...I actually loved every second of it How lovely to climb straight into your own bed with new baby You and your dh sound like you have the childcare sorted!

bubbaandbump - haha where to put no 3? We live in a 2 bed house

Had a boring day at work, was alone all day so was googling baby names

Welcome and Congrats to newcomers

mamasunshine · 19/05/2010 21:17

Wow, I really do love using these smileys don't I??!!

LadyBuzz · 19/05/2010 21:41

Does anyone know anything about contact with Chicken pox?
My Stepmum has just phoned to say she has been in a nursery with an epidemic and now she is worried about seeing me.
I have had CP as a baby - I think it is OK, anyone else had this?

mamasunshine · 19/05/2010 21:48

I asked my dr in last pg as had same problem. He said if I've had it not to worry. I'd give your dr a ring in the morning just to clarify/be certain.
