walkthedog Grin me too my SIL is pg with no 2 and is about 9 weeks behind me, they also live a bit away but it will be lovely!

Welcome ginlane

crumblequeen · 13/08/2010 08:52

splodge You can always get a baby seat for your bike once the baby can sit up - DS has just outgrown his ibert seat which fits on the front of bike and I am so glad we got it. It didn't seem to affect the stability at all and he never protests about getting his helmet and sunglasses on to go on the bike!

mamasunshine glad the potty training is going well now. Still going well here too - I am pleased I tried it.

I did the Davina DVD too last time and liked it a lot but found her so annoying!

Jobi1 · 13/08/2010 09:01

Hi splodge, we've got a child seat which goes on the back of the bike, DS has been in it since 14 months I think, but with the next we may get a trailer so we don't have to wait for them to be big enough for a seat.

I quite like Davina but don't think my pelvis is up to much at the mo, been getting quite a lot of pain already, which is worrying.

I need to add myself to the list! I'm due 1st Jan but a c section will mean it will be earlier than that, should find out friday. But for now: -

Updated the list and added myself (Seem to have slipped off :( )

Also I name changed - Was lilllysa but think it was a bit too many llllll's :)

I was wondering if anyone has had a previous C-sec and is going for vBAC this time?

They've given me the choice and I'm really wanting to try vBAC but they've said this is on the condition that I do not pass my EDD. Last time I was 3 weeks over when they induced with caused a bad reaction and after 2 days of labour and only 3cm dilated I was whisked off for a Csec. Csec was all fine and went well but this time I'd like to avoid the recovery time and wondered of anyone had any tips for avoiding going over! I realise most of it is old wives tales but all worth a try :)

20 week scan was yesterday, everything is going well and baby looking just fine! Last scan they changed my due date to 27/12 but I've been adamant that my due date is 03/01. According to some of the measurements they took yesterday, my dates seem right.

Ended up going to Mothercare afterwards and spending more money than I should have! I bought the cutest looking brown fluffy snowsuit which will probably make my baby look a teddy bear but I couldn't resist!

mamasunshine · 13/08/2010 14:13

Hi everyone, thought I'd pop on as both boy's are in bed...although ds2 has been asleep for 4.5hrs now Hmm he's not well so leaving him to it, but hope he's ok (obviously I'm checking him!)
jobi1 - Davina's pg dvd is good (maybe mute her voice!) and I've just bought Complete Pg Fitness by Erin O'Brien (haven't put it on yet though Blush still too tired!)
salado - I've never been to a Centre Parcs but dying to go to one! Thinking of going to Longleat so we can visit Longleat too. We'll prob bk a weekend at the mid-end of Sept. Loving the name Bob for a dog! I had a VBAC at home last summer (15 months after EMCS). It was amazing etc! Not sure about the 40wk cut off though, that doesn't seem to give you much of a chance? Could you meet with the Head of midwifery and chat to her about your options etc, and maybe see if it would be possible to say 41 wks as a cut off and ECS if no lo by then? Otherwise all the usual things for making sure baby is in a good position in the last wks. E.g. lots of walking, swimming, using birthing ball etc...oh and lots of sex!
splodge - I think a lot of people manage with no car. I think a good sling, backpack and light weight/easy to fold down pram. Then see how you get on? You may find you manage fine without a car.
Welcome and congrats to ginlane - you sound very busy too! And that's a lot of Dec bdays!
funkymonkey - great news on scan Smile Does that make you out first 20wk scan graduate!! You didn't find out the sex then?! Those snow suits are so cute, and they always look soooo cuddly in them Smile

Well I'm 7lb's heavier now than I was at this stage in my first pg! However midwife said not to worry about my weight gain as it'll just drop off afterwards (which I know!) and has put my exhaustion down to not eating enough Hmm I was getting woried with all the stuff in the press about weightgain in pg etc. She listened into heartbeat etc which was reassuring! Well I'm so tired, was supposed to be going to London tomorrow but think I'm going to cancel as have a vvv busy week ahead. Hope all of you are blooming Smile

Jobi1 · 13/08/2010 14:23

Hi salado sorry if it was my bad copy and pasting that disappeared you Sad

As for VBAC, I'm afraid I'm being a wimp and opting for a nice calm and predicatable elective section this time. I didn't find recovery too bad, less so than the drama beforehand anyway!

mamsunshine hope little one is ok poor mite! With pelvic pain as it is I think I'll hold off buying any dvds - can barely walk at th emo!

funkymonkey glad scan ok Smile

FunkyMonkey1983 · 13/08/2010 15:36

mamasunshine we decided against finding out the sex which is probably a good thing as the sonographer admitted she has gotten it wrong in the past!

SalaDo · 13/08/2010 15:56

Funkymonkey Very good news about the 20week scan, they got my dates totally wrong with my DD . . Chaging them all the way from 01/12 to 27/12 and then back lol! I can't wait till the 20weeks scan to start buying :)

Mamasunshine Hope your boys are ok . . DD slept from 4pm till 9pm the other day! Complete nightmare but think she was brewing this nasty cold she has now.

Think I'll ask about pushing the 'limited' 40 weeks till they make me c-sec a bit. I mean mine was all fine last time I just feel like I dont want the 6+weeks recovery time. I have to be able to drive for DDschool and Dnephew pick ups :(

I've stopped letting the midwives weigh me now. I keep track myself and as I'm a lil overweight anyways I know I'm just gonna get a lecture :(

jobi dont think it was you think I dropped off a while ago and never updated! :)

Countdown till the 15sept now . . Called the midwife today to double check I deffo didnt get a 16week checkup and thats right . . I dont see them now till 26weeks :( feel like thats just too long :(

So i know this has probs been discussed but whos finding out the sex or not? We've decided to :)

littlehuman · 13/08/2010 16:28

20 weeks today!
half way there !bump not too big, booked and paid a massage 3 weeks ago for next week so hoping not to get much bigger so i can still lie on my front :-)
6 days til "20 weeks" scan...

SalaDo · 13/08/2010 16:46

YAY littlehuman

OOoo Forgot to mention I heard the heartbeat for the first time last night (my mum is a doc so she bought over her super duper doppler - my sister is still trying to 'find' mine!!) it was great!! Recorded it and just keep listening to it :)

GinLane · 13/08/2010 18:22

Funkymonkey i agree with not finding out the sex. DH and I have debated it and changed our minds several times. Each to their own! But what a weird situation to be told one thing and to get another. Awful to feel an element of disappointment if the sonographer gets it wrong; I'm just so happy to having a child that I don't mind whether its a boy or girl.

sarrita · 13/08/2010 23:28

mamasunshine sorry to hear you have cancelled your hols. :( hope you at least get to go away for a night or something...

splodge77 I do less than 4000 miles in my car and could really do without it. Get your shopping online, make sure you can walk to the park/playgroup/school. And kids love buses. Use Car Club when you need to go on a trip or IKEA - here they even have estates.

GinLane I didn't finish my PhD thesis in time for the birth and started back when DS was 5 months. I did get it done and was not the last to graduate!

Jobi1 try swimming if pelvis is sore. Think crawl is best though, as breaststroke legs not the best. I couldn't really walk for first pregnancy and found swimming and yoga good substitutes.

Still no 20 week scan date and am 18.

Found out a good friend is due on the 27th of Jan. She lives in Canada, hence not knowing sooner. Nice to have a pregnancy buddy, especially as will be emigrating to Canada.

Have never added self to list - so here goes:

forgot to say welcome to ginlane with all my excitment at SIL being pg

salado - hope you having fun with your new puppy, thry are so cute at that ages

ladybuzz quite funny how quite a few relatives end up having babies quite close together. OH's two brothers and his best friend all had girls within 5 weeks a few years back!

jobi1 some good info on this physio site, you can't download most of the leaflets but can read online. The third one down is very good and you can download it - all about pelvic pain.

WalkTheDog · 14/08/2010 12:18

oops forgot to add link - www.acpwh.org.uk/content/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=12

my typing/spelling and plenty more silly brain not working stuff happening these days!

berrycravings · 14/08/2010 15:30

Hi to all, 20 weeks today

Not been on for a while but tried to go through catching up, hello to those who have joined us recently. I had a down couple of weeks, sickness was back every morning and was really tired, and wanted to know where this second trimester energy was...still am wondering really. But cheered up alot on Thursday night when got a proper kick from bubs, I cried :) since then I have been able to feel little movements as I know now where the baby is, has been lovely.

Still over a week to wait for my scan, is also at 21 weeks and getting really impatient. Started back on the name hunt last night, and we went through lists and lits of boys names, but not got any new ones.

I've put on a stone!!!!Tring not to worry to much, but I'm sure my mid afternoon whole pizza snack is not helping Blush And I wa so hungary I cooked and ate it despite it saying defrost firts! oops. mumasunshine the media just like to try and make things harder for us pregnant women I think, after that news came out about weight in pregnancy I got comments about looking 'too big' for my dates.

Still dreaming about having the energy to do exercise. Hope everyones starting to glow.

littlehuman · 14/08/2010 17:43

berry craving i have never defrosted my pizzas before putting them in the oven.
dont have the patience! lol
as long as you just dont eat it frozen ahahah

sarrita · 15/08/2010 10:43

Sorry not o replicate the list. I tried to cut and paste, and it got all corrupted. My husband was lurking in the background, and I don't want him to read my posts on here - they are for my sisters due in January! So I ended up posting in haste.

Two things:

Anyone know any Capricorns? My Mum was a Capricorn and very feisty.

And how do you make a big deal of a birthday in January after all the Chirstmas and new Year celebrations? There is a risk of joint Birthday Christmas presents, and people being to warn out after all the shenanigans to celebrate again. Especially in Scotland where New Year is huge. Buying presents in the sales might be an advantage.

MammaK · 16/08/2010 21:58

Hello everyone, rubbish MN user - never know if I'm doing stuff right but love spending time on here! Have a very beautiful 2 year old DD and no. 2 due on 20.1.2011 (Grin 12wk scan confirmed my date not doc's... yay small victories). Adding myself to the list if that's OK.
Having killer headaches but they are just beginning to lessen in frequency... just making the decision to ask or not to ask before our 20 week scan in a fortnight!

Hope everyone is OK

Hi all

Has anyone else had dreadful leg cramps at night?

I checked on the other MN forums when it happened to me and had great advice and remedies.

But, just wondered whether we are at a particular stage....or possibly it is just another one of those weird things that some ladies get and others don't.

Am I alone out there????

HopingCatPlusThree · 17/08/2010 12:38

Leg cramps is definitely something that happens to some people and not others, and they do hurt!! I went to a 'Fit for Pregnancy' talk given by a physio at the hospital and this was one of the things they talked about. I suffered with this in my first pregnancy, but when I followed the physio's advice it stopped. All you do is pump your ankles up and down for 3 mins per ankle before you go to sleep at night. This gets the blood circulating in your legs and prevents the build up that leads to cramp. I find it makes my legs throb when I've finished pumping my ankles, but that is better than leaping up in the night screaming. Hope it works for you too.

HopingCatPlusThree · 17/08/2010 12:46

We've got 20 week scan on Thursday. Can't wait! Very excited because this time we are finding out what we are having. Never done it before, and have been happy each time with having a surprise, but this time we want to try it the other way. Only thing I can't decide is whether or not to tell anyone else that we know. I think I'd like to, because I've never seen anyone's face before when they find out. I'd love to look my parents in the face and say 'It's a girl/boy'. With the other 2, by the time I saw anyone after the birth they already knew gender, name and weight. This time I think I'd like to spread the news myself. Not sure DH is as bothered about this though so we'll see what we agree on Thursday.

sarrita · 17/08/2010 18:01

GinLane I had bad cramps first pregnancy and ended up wearing warm socks over my calfs. That worked. Not great for summer though.

Am getting them now, but I always get them so can't tell if its worse due to being preggers.
