Hang on in there mrsfrisby I'm now 16 weeks and suddenly I seem to have energy again, I even ran around with my niece and the dog on friday which I've been too tired to do for months. Also with such a tough week its no wonder your feeling down, take it easy on yourself.

I woke in the night with really sharp pulled muscle pain on the left side of my bump, was in agony and felt like my insides had moved around. Was crying in pain, but when I woke up next felt normal again. This pregnancy lark seems to have endless unexpected aches and pains.

I got some maternity clothes yesterday went on a shopping trip to Southampton and all the chain stores had a section, was so exciting. Can't actually believe how comfy mat clothes are, all the material feels so soft, wish I'd given in and got some a few weeks ago! So to anyone out there holding out buying things, give in as it is so worth while

Hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend, I still love the extra sleep available.

littlehuman · 18/07/2010 19:08

hi everyone ,
bk from a week camping in the wind and rain! ahh well was good anyway

berrycravings
i am so glad (and feel for you too) that you got the same pain i got,
it started on the 16th week too, i keep getting very sharp pains that can last for ages(and so sore, it makes you cry)in my lower back but more particularly sort of where my bum bones are , quite hard to describe, and its mostly on the left too.
the worst pains are the sort of shooting ones.
anybodyelse feeling the same?

my friend told me its was something about the pelvis changing shape for the baby... hope this doesnt last the whole of pregnancy...

berrycravings · 18/07/2010 21:32

So glad to read your post littlehuman. Was feeling a mix of concern about what it could be and wondering if I was slightly mad. Yes it was my lower back also, I woke DH and he gave me a massage which sort of helped the lower back but still did not feel right. Nice to know I am not alone. I'm hoping this does not go on also, but that once the changing shape is done we'll go back to being normal.

My sister mentioned around this time she started to sleep with a pillow between her legs as she was getting strange pains. Might try it tonight and see if it helps.

splodge77 · 19/07/2010 10:59

hi all, glad to hear all your happy scan stories. I'm nearly 15 weeks now and can't really tell if i'm showing or not - i am so bloated at the mo i certainly HAVE a bump but not sure if any of it is baby!

is anyone else finding they have stupid-pregnant-lady-brain syndrome? I have done a couple of really dumb things over the past few days and also can't seem to face watching anything on telly except Come Dine with Me and You've been Framed. Argh! hope i haven't lost my brain forever!

HopingCatPlusThree · 19/07/2010 11:54

splodge77 I'm 15 weeks, and when I asked mw about whether my bump was baby she said it's not. The uterus only just appears above your pubic bone at 12 weeks, and by your 20 week scan it has risen to your tummy button. So the big tummy I've got is just my body making space for where the baby will be. This is why some people show early and others don't show for months. Our muscles behave differently.

Has everyone been told to go for a 16 week check with MW? What do they do at this appointment? With my other pgs there were no mw appointments between booking in at 11 weeks and getting MAT1B from mw at 24 weeks. Or was that just my NHS being a bit weird?

littlehuman · 19/07/2010 13:06

hi hcpt
the reason i got a appointment at 16 weeks
its to get that blood test for downs and spina bifida, if you dont ask for it maybe you dont need an appointment.

also anyone got a negative blood group?
just to know a bit more about all these injections you need when you are negative(as i am A- )

LadyBuzz · 19/07/2010 13:53

littlehuman I am A- too, i've had anti D in both previous pgs, its more to do with your nxt pg and whether your baby is also rh neg. Both of mine are so in theory IU should be fine but they still recommend them.
Do you know your DHs blood group cause if he is also neg you don't need them.
They can nip a bit but other then that they are fine.

I also have a 16 week app but like littlehuman its for the downs test.

littlehuman · 19/07/2010 14:55

hi ladybuzz
dh dunno his blood group and he s so petrified of needles, i can forget about him having a blood test done to find out his blood group.his mum is positive and dad negative so he could be any of them really...

LadyBuzz · 19/07/2010 18:44

oh bugger looks like you are stuck then. Its no hassle really I think you get 2??? and then another when baby is born.

littlehuman · 19/07/2010 19:25

hey ladybuzz
i called the mw today, she said that even if they find out that dh is negative they ll still recommend the injections to be on the safe side.

LadyBuzz · 19/07/2010 19:48

thanks littlehuman, that makes me feel sligtly better about suffering them in my last 2 pgs

berrycravings · 19/07/2010 19:51

Hi Hcpt I had my 16 week MW apt today. She asked how I was feeling generally. Had a look at the notes from my scan, checked my blood results (taken at the booking in apt), checked BP and urine and lastly and the best bit for me was she listened to the babies heartbeat .

I did not have any downs tests at my scan so my apt was not regarding this. Hope that helps.

mummychicken · 19/07/2010 20:24

I've also been having a bit of lower back pain - I just thought it was just down to me being NOT an older mum!

I am getting very queasy if I don't eat ery couple of hours. I am NOT going to stand oon the scales for the next several months as I know the needle is going to go up at an alarming rate!

readyornot2011 · 19/07/2010 20:31

Hello everyone,

Sorry I'm a late joiner, due 7th Jan so I'm 15+3 1st pregnancy and I'm 28. Still hasn't sunk in hence I'm afraid.

Anyway, I have some v exciting news, I know the sex I know it's really early to find out but we had the nuchal at 12 weeks and with the bloods got odds of 1/6. It was awful, v stressful but we decided to go ahead with CVS and got the quick results back the next day (hospital were wonderful) and all fine, such a relief.

Anyway that was a few weeks ago, and we have now had the full results back, again all fine. But because they do a full chromosome work out the can see for sure whether its an XX or XY. Ours is a girl!!!! So pleased, I 'knew' right from the beginning and was so glad when the midwife told me.

It was so strange though because I found out over the phone at work, I wasn't expecting the call at all and it's REALLY not how I imagined finding out. (rang DH first to check he was ok with it then the midwife called back) we were both over the moon, couldn't stop grinning all day.

Anyway, now 15+3 and have started getting lingering headaches which I can't shift, anyone else? I've read that you have incresed blood flow in your head at this time which can cause nasal congestion, nose bleed and sometimes headaches, so hoping it will pass.

Also because of the large nuchal 3.6mm we have to have a heart scan next week, has anyone else had that? Trying not to worry, after the CVS I promised myself if that was ok I would face whatever came our way without worrying, but I can't find out much about it.

Wow, I've made up for 15 weeks of silence with this post. Anyway, Ive really enjoyed reading about all your pregnancy's and hope you all start to bloom with the 2nd trimester

CardyMow · 20/07/2010 11:37

I've gotten lost about 12 pages or so back...I forgot about this thread . I blame baby brain! I'm now 14+2, am on metaclopramide for HG, have had my 12 weeks scan, everything looked OK, but as we didn't want the triple blood test done, my PCT don't give you a nuchal fold measurement. I have my 20 week scan a little early, on the 18th Aug, when I'll be 18+3. I'm due on 16/01/11.

CardyMow · 20/07/2010 11:40

Oooh the heart scan is why my 20 week is being done early. They have got some howdy-doody new 3d/4d scanners at my hospital, and because my 12yo DD has problems with her heart, they are going to scan me on them at a special clinic!

beaufies · 20/07/2010 12:44

Hello Ladies

Just thought I'd pop in with my scan results. Being an official 'old' mum (I'll be 41 when baba is born) it was obviously quite scary. We booked in for a super duper scan with the famous Prof Stuart Campbell in Harley Street and wow, what a difference from a normal scan - worth every penny. Anyway, before the scan we had an age based risk of 1:64, but after the scan this was revised to 1:1124

He also checked that there was a nasal bone, that there were four, normally functioning heart chambers, no cleft palate and that all the major organs were present and correct. He was also able to tell us and show us that it's a boy - yay! I was desperate for a boy as the main reason for having this baby was so that our DS1 has a sibling and playmate, so a little brother is perfect.

One downside is that there is (might have the name wrong here) an amniotic band which has normally disappeared by 12 weeks but is still there. The Prof wants to scan again at 16 weeks to make sure it has gone. He urged me not to google it as it would 'frighten me to death' but that it was 'very unlikely' to cause a problem.

The worrying thing is that 3 days later I had my NHS scan. All the measurements that were taken were much bigger, and they didn't spot the amniotic band. As they also don't take into account the other factors ie nasal bone, heart funcion etc they will undoubtedly came back and tell me I have a high Down's risk and try and get me to have an amnio. I hadn't told them about my other scan as I didn't want to intimidate the sonographer (the prof is world famous in scanning)and wanted to see whether they would pick up the amniotic band. I will have to tell them now, assuming I get a high risk result from them, and I anticipate that there will be lots of stress and tension

But still, we go to see the prof again in a few weeks, and we are happy that the baby is normal, so overall, everything is good.

In other news the nausea is still here, but I think it may be lifting a little, and the tiredness is still debilitating but also seems to be improving a little. For those of you feeling back to normal did you just wake up one morning and feel fine, or did it come and go for a while, or gradually fade?

Sorry for the long post, just as well I'm not on here too much eh

HopingCatPlusThree · 20/07/2010 12:48

readyornot2011 I am so glad you mentioned getting headaches. I've just started struggling with this over the last few days. Everything I've read suggests headaches are rarely a sign of complications unless you are in last trimester, but it's good to hear I'm not the only one suffering with this. I feel more normal now. I'm due 9th Jan so we are at exactly the same stage. Hopefully it will pass for us both soon.

Very exciting that you know the sex already! My scan is 19th Aug and we want to find out then, although I think I already know it's a boy as the heartbeat sounded exactly like DS, which is slower than DD's was.

HopingCatPlusThree · 20/07/2010 13:08

beaufies I can't believe you know the sex as well! Each time I've been pregnant I've gradually started feeling better rather than waking up one day and feeling great. With DD I felt ok by 17 weeks, with DS it was 12 weeks, and this time I'm still not completely ok at 15 weeks as I still feel really tired. That could be having 2 children and a part time job though.

I know nothing about amniotic bands and I think you are right not to Google it. If the Dr isn't in a panic then you shouldn't be. Hope it disappears before your next scan though.

crumblequeen · 20/07/2010 13:32

Wow exciting that people know the sex already - one of each so far! I am very tempted to find out at 20 weeks but tell people we didn't, as I would really like to give them a surprise.

Not enjoying the heavy rain we are having at the moment - DS definitely benefits more from getting worn out outdoors!

January2011mum · 20/07/2010 16:17

I must say it so exciting that you have a lot of people feeling the same things. You don't feel like such a freak LOL!!

how does you guys feel about finding out the sex?? Hubby wants to know to "prepare" the way I see it. Its only whether you buy pink or blue items as we are looking to have more thant one baby so having a nursery all blue or pink seems pointless.

But I can also see the benefits too!!

mrsfrisby · 20/07/2010 18:51

I definitely want to know the sex - I need to mentally prepare myself I think. Again, a personal thing. Still v tired but not sleeping well, and the nausea and headaches come back when I am very tired. Also I bumped into a table today quite hard, and have slight tenderness on side of bump. Is that normal? Amazing how much you can worry about stuff! It's my first, am sure those of you with more than one are over this stress...
Beaufies - sounds definitely worth the money to see the prof. Did you feel humbled in the great man's presence? It must be nice to have someone who shows real interest, my sonographer could not have seemed less interested...

littlehuman · 20/07/2010 18:58

16weeks+4

appt at the mw today, heartbeat still there
(good to know after the few drinks i had 2weeks ago was a bit worry...)

still no sign of 20 weeks scan,
dh and myself both desperate to find out the sex, none of us have been able to think of any name as long as we dont know.

come on nhs, send me that scan letter!!!!

mummychicken · 20/07/2010 19:46

15w + 3
littlehuman love that way of starting a message, rather than having to trek back to see who is due when, it forms a little picture of who is ahead/behind!
I had to book my 20 week scan at when I had my 12 week scans so I've known since then it was on the 24 Aug. Weird how different areas seem to have such completey different systems.
Beaufies You are NOT old, just more mature - rememeber I'm not that far behind you!

deedee321 · 20/07/2010 20:26

15w + 4 (like it too!)
am feeling baby kicks!! Just like tiny little bubbles popping but remember it from last time! Makes all the stressing/sickness worth it (mrsfrisby, you don't stop stressing the second time, you'd hope you would, but no...)
