Hello ladies

stenogirl - nice bump
sarrita - you being back in jeans the day after birth!
Welcome and congrats to leepod and beaufies - very sorry for your loss, my finger's are tightly crossed for you!
littlehuman - I have to admit on my wedding day I was 16wks pg with ds1 and I had 5 glasses of champagne That's the 1st time I've told anyone !! Have fun camping
mrsfrisby - agree with other's on polish, I wouldn't worry
Hi superparty - good luck for scan on Thurs, I'm sure your bean will be boucing around
hopingcat+3 - my boobs have got smaller with bf too Preg 1st pg I was 32F, ended up 36G Now I'm 34D so will be lucky if I see an E /F cup this time!! Still bf ds2 so think that's why they haven't grown yet...hope they start to plump up soon
sarahl77 - not too long til the 20th

Eugh..I cannot do non-wired bras! I seriously find them so uncomfortable, and the lady in M&S ALWAYS tries to make me buy non-wired! The worse part of bf at the begining for me is having to wear non-wired nursing bras...I change to underwires by 3/4 months post baby and pull the strap down Although I have heard you can buy underwired nursing bras now?

Booking appointment this Saturday, I'll be 14wks!! Congrats to all those who've reached the 2nd trimester...I'm almost there

crumblequeen · 13/07/2010 13:50

I am another who cannot stand non-wired bras and I am only a C cup so don't know how larger ladies manage! mamasunshine I used an underwired nursing bra by Anita Maternity and it was fantastic - pricey but worth it I think - got it online at figleaves and I have added the cost of 2 into our budget for baby no2 as they were so great!

Welcome to everyone joining - feeling a bit left behind now most people have had scans and some coming up for 15/16 weeks! Really looking forward to scan on Thurs though.

DS waking up so had better go - a trip to the museum to say hello to the crabs (live) and emus (stuffed) beckons this afternoon!!

January2011mum · 13/07/2010 15:17

Hi All

I have just joined. My 1st pg after years of trying, just before starting my IVF decided to do test as not feeling to great (with great scepticism) result=POSITIVE yeay. Phew Finally!!!

I am due in 23 Jan bit later than most of you I think!! Waiting for the tiredness to lift and cant wait till my next scan as I had my first scan at 10 wks a bit early to see much.

HopingCatPlusThree · 13/07/2010 15:27

Congratulations and welcome January2011mum.

Well I've had a good result today. You may remember my employer told me I would not qualify for SMP as I missed out on it by 1 day, but I have now found an SMP calculator on the HM Revenue and Customs website and it said I did qualify. So I've got in touch with HR again and they have said they were wrong and I will get SMP. Yeah

It was very borderline but I'm so glad I decided to do a bit of research myself. I know google can be a bad thing when we look up every weird pg symptom and worry about being abnormal, but today I am very happy that the google and the internet exist!

January2011mum · 13/07/2010 15:34

OMG

I am a GG cup before pg what will i be during and after. It doesn't bear thinking about does it.

January2011mum · 13/07/2010 15:38

Thank you HCPT

What a result if they can get out of paying anyone they will.

Unfortunately I was made redundant so will be relying on MA. But at least it's something hey!!

I know google can be abit too much info but sometimes it can be reassuring to if read with caution.

LadyBuzz · 13/07/2010 18:52

welcome janmum congratulations.

hopingcat glad you got it sorted with work - one less thing to worry about!

I had my dating scan today. all was well, I am exactly 12 weeks and due on my birthday, but will likely be early as it looks like it will be another section for me. I'm looking at a fight if I want to go for a VBAC.

Right I am off to google underwired mat bras!

CLB1 · 14/07/2010 08:27

Morning All,

I haven't been on for ages! I missed you guys!

So much to catch up on, you've all been very busy. I'm 15+5 today and have had a migraine since yesterday. I'm couped up in my bedroom with the curtains closed, plenty of water and those 4head strip thingies. I have migraine tablets but can't take them (Obviously) and paracetamol doesn't come close to touching it.

About boob size's.. I was a 36E, I'm now a 38F. Have found that the Mothercare non-underwire bras that look just like underwire bras are great. I have to sleep in a sports bra to stop them falling all over or strangling me.

I never had the Nuchal scan, I was in 2 minds anyway. The Dr's Midwife offered it but then the hospital never carried it out.

Is anyone on here been referred for dual care, so you have a midwife and consultant? I'm still waiting for my consultants appt. Last time it came at about 14 weeks? Oh well I have an appt with Dr's midwife nxt Tuesday (16wks appt), so get to hear bean's heart beat for the 1st time

This is going to sound weird but does anyone else not actual feel pregnant? I have had all the symptoms, seen the bean on a scan and now have a defined bump but it hasn't sunk in yet at all. I think it maybe due to MC in Feb as I got very attached?

One last thing then I promise the HUGE post is over
DH is a bit upset with his mum. He said that she doesn't seem very excited about thier 1st grandchild. He says she acts like its nothing really. Although he thinks she's trying to stop smoking (SIL thinks due to bean) so maybe this is why, or like me it doesn't seem very real yet? I just don't like to see him upset thats all.

Welcome to all new comers. Hope everyone is doing okay. This is me signing off. I promise to keep in though more often x

January2011mum · 14/07/2010 11:05

Hi CLB1

Sorry to hear of MC in feb.

I do know what you mean about not feeling pregnant.

We had been trying for 4 years before I got pg but I did not believe it and I decided to go for early private scan at 7 wks found out I had twins. Then had NHS scan at week 10 and found there was only one heart beat.

I have had some symptoms seen the duckling twice and still it has not sunk in that I am pg.

I am usually quite emotional and didn't cry nothing at the scan and all I can put it down to is that it just hasn't sunk in yet!

I'm hoping when I feel duckling move it I will believe it!

x

SaraL77 · 14/07/2010 11:59

I feel the same way (though haven't had any unfortunate mc's or anything- so sorry to hear about that CLB1)

Have the first scan next week and hoping that will make me feel more 'pregnant' -of course I have the usual symptoms- nausea, bigger boobs, getting fatter round the belly, horrid taste in mouth, tiredness- but until I see my baby on that scan screen, I'm just not sure all is ok (I guess, reading about babies not being there or not surviving aftre 6 or 8 weeks is unnerving so I don't want to get too excited)

I'm sure we'll all 'feel' more pregnant in our 2nd tri when we've got bumps emerging -I had major bump envy in my 1st pregnancy till I got mine- then I felt properly pregnant- and people know so I suppose that's why!

MrsFC · 14/07/2010 16:14

Hello ladies, please can I join you? I'm 39, due 23 Jan, and just had my scan so it finally feels real (I had two early MC's last year, so was so scared I would go for the 12 week scan & it would be an MMC).

Definitely 'feel' pregnant, sore boobs, feel hungover, and have a huge bump - I was 5 month before I got this big with DS! Anyone else big & showing yet?

sarrita · 14/07/2010 16:52

Hmmm. Not feeling so pregnant now either. I kind of want another scan just to see. But I think I am just being paranoid (I also had an MC last time, but at 10.5 wks). But then feeling less pregnant means I am feeling better. Made soup today for DS - first time in months!

And I don't think that my boobs are so tender either. They are also not as big. But I have lost about 14 lbs since I got pregnant - some some fat may have come off my boobs.

Think we should start a thread on boobs. There is so much to say!

mamasunshine they were hardly skinny jeans! I completely lost my appetite last time, and then once DS was born and was breastfeeding, I ate so much it was disgusting. My husband and I met shameful eyes over the carcass of an entire crispy duck. It was disgusting and had disappeared without us even sitting down at the table.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 14/07/2010 17:38

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well this week. I was reading some of the posts on the July 2010 thread and got a bit excited thinking of us next year!

I thought my nausea had left me alone but it reappeared yesterday with a vengeance and I fainted in the afternoon. I'm fine now but was a bit frightening. I am the type of woman who faints a lot (low blood pressure) but scared of hurting peanut if I fall funny so taking it easy now.

CLB1 really sorry about your migraine, that must be awful knowing you can't take anything for it. I've been referred for dual care as well and have the name of my consultant but haven't seen him yet, still waiting for appt. My mw said that I'll have a check up thing with him but then might not need to see him again so not sure what to expect.

berrycravings · 14/07/2010 20:43

Hello all,

CLB1 i remember when my sister was due with her first my mum was not excited about 1st grandchild. Now she loves her to bits and is really excited about mine, I think perhaps for them it does not feel real and do not know how they will feel, what kind of relationship they'll have. I'm sure your MIL will get excited when the little one is born.

Boobs just so huge they scare me and I need to open the bathroom door (its a slide one) wider to slip through. Think gone up to a G, really need to get measuered, got some maternity bras a month or so ago and already getting tight (and I thought I had got them big, but turns out not big enough)

I did my first exercise today since finding out i'm pregnant, I went for a swim, very proud or myself. Just got to try and do it again. Glad scans have been going well for people.

mummychicken · 14/07/2010 20:47

superparty I'll be 39 when LO is born. Not going to have any more tests as ALL my family are late starters eg both sets of grandparents didn't have kids till their 30's which in the 1930's was positively ancient. My Mum was 38 when she had me. I just need to stop worrying ? 1 in 3000 is low risk. If I wasn?t fretting about that, it would be something else!

I am NOT classed as an older mum!! - YET!!

Thanks splodge77

superparty · 15/07/2010 09:25

well 6 hrs 52mins to go till scan,

mummychicken i'll be 38 when lo born, haven't had any tests done yet, but may have quad test at 16 wks, not sure.

roulade · 15/07/2010 16:32

Yay i can finally join! I have been lurking for what seems like years but i finally had my 12 week scan today and all was fine (so far). I am due on 24 January.
Good luck Crumble and Superparty for your scans today!

stenogirl · 15/07/2010 16:40

Week 16

Hey girls,

Hello January2011mum and MrsFC. that first scan is great isn't it
I'm self employed after redundancy and didn't know even know MA existed until you said it January2011mum. YAY, that's brilliant cos I was worried how I would pay my bills when our baby arrived.

CLB1 I have the same thing with my mum. She didn't seem excited and changed the subject whenever I mentioned being pregnant. She has one grandchild (13). After the thrid phone call, I actually asked her why and she said she was "taking it in". She's also given up smoking and is distracted by that maybe or maybe cos she's in Ireland she feels detached... Hey, I should be used to it, it's always been about my mum!
Luckily my sis is really excited and constantly asking me questions and I've asked her to be at the birth with me.

I had my 16-week check-up with midwife today and I came away a bit in shock or sad really. (I'm at Queen Charlotte's.) The appointment was so quick and it felt really impersonal. I asked about the low-lying placenta and she rattled through some stuff but I wasn't reassured. Thank goodness for mumsnet and google for giving me some real info. It's made me a little worried about the birth now, like it'll just be a conveyor belt. I'm seriously thinking of home birth now if low-lying placenta sorts itself out. Or maybe I was expecting too much from the midwife. she did answer my questions but rattled them off. I had to ask her to repeat the complicated appointments system at one stage. Rant over. Feel better already

mummychicken · 15/07/2010 16:44

superparty it used to be 35 but when I had DS (36) I was assured by midwife I was NOT and old mum - and the age has been changed to 40. Even if it is not true I will steadfastly believe it and stick my fingers in my ears and go lalala if someone tries to tell me differently!!

Your summer sounds a bit like mine - but without so many kids! Hiow was the scan?

Welcome roulade Glad teh scan went well

crumblequeen · 15/07/2010 18:43

Hi all - scan today went well. Very sleepy baby but managed to wiggle its arms when it got a big poke! I hope that means it will be more laid back than DS, who is a tornado! Due date now 31 Jan so I just creep onto the end of this thread - although I am sure some Feb people will be having babies before me.

superparty hope all well at yours too and welcome roulade

superparty · 15/07/2010 21:47

hey all, its offical I'M PREGNANT[smile}

welcome to all the newbies hope you're all doing well.

mummychicken I'm with you on that sister, i am not old either, still got 2 1/2 yrs to go yay!!!!!

good to hear scan went well crumble I was trying to think who was my scan buddy, definately pg brain lol

scan went really well, everything fine, i asked about neck thickness and although she said they aren't doing the nuchal testing there yet and to get a more accurate result we'd need the blood test, she said it all looked fine to her. (shes quite senior, have seen her loads of times when probs with others) so reassured and me and dh have agreed to no more tests, if its 1 in 200 or 1 in 50,000, if we're the one then we'll be ok, phew can relax a little now (until 20wk scan of course) always something to worry about eh.

hve popped a pic of bubs and others things is any one wants a peek

NeedToSleepZZZ · 16/07/2010 14:13

Hi superparty, just had a peek at your pic and it made me go all funny, must be the hormones. I now understand the big nose and it's a boy comments!
Thank you for letting us see!

Margie32 · 16/07/2010 15:09

Hi everyone (waves frantically)

It's been ages since I've been on here and I've been trying to catch up and I wanted to reply to some people by name but then I couldn't remember whose thread/question was whose and it all got too much for my PG brain to handle!

I've had a bit of a scary week, came home from swimming on Tuesday to find blood in my knickers . Went into complete panic-mode meltdown but went to get it checked out on Wednesday, by which time I didn't have anymore bleeding, and the doc said she thinks I may just have been over-doing it in the pool. Brilliant - they tell you to do exercise, I go and do some and it makes me bleed! No more blood since Tues, have been doing sweet FA since then, fingers crossed it was just a one off.

Now I have a question for you all: does anyone know anything about Capricorns? Seeing as I am going to give birth to one I'd like to know what they're like, and I only know three people who are Capricorns, two of whom I adore and one I can't stand, so that's not very conclusive! Sorry to exclude all you people who are having Aquarians...I think Aquarians are lovely by the way. Would be great to get some Capricorn info from anyone that knows - obviously if you think star signs are a load of bollocks then no need to reply!

Happy Friday to one and all .

CLB1 · 16/07/2010 21:08

Hi All,

This is my attempt to stay on top of things this time

JanMumI didn't cry at my scan either, very weird, oh well like you, hopefully it will feel more real once we feel movement.
MrsFC welcome, i'm definately feeling big but whether is Beam showing or extra ice cream, still haven't decided (Definately some of it is Bean but how much?)
Sarrita Boob thread sounds good to me
NeedToSleepZZZ I have no idea what to expect either, apparently mine is due to my weight and I have to have a gloucose test too.
BerryCravings I hope so, I really do. I don't see much of them (DH see's them every week though) and to be honest I wouldnt allow them to baby sit Bean without either me or DH there. That sounds horrid I know but I just couldn't.
Roulade Welcome, glad scan was okay
Stenogirl I'm so glad that you have your sister to be excited for you, it's nice to share this with someone. I would feel the same about the check up. I have mine on tuesday and I don't know what to expect but would hope that it is something personal and individual to me, just think only 4 weeks until you see LO again. Are you going to find out what sex?
Superparty Yay for being pregnant, I'm glad the scan went okay.

So who out there will be finding out the sex. I didn't even have to think about it. The way I look at it is - its going to be a surprise whether you fine out at 20 weeks or on delivery, atleast with 20 weeks you can prepare

Have a great weekend everyone x x x

mrsfrisby · 18/07/2010 12:29

Hi all!

Well, 14 weeks today but not blooming yet... Have had a headache for days and not sleeping well. Anyone else not yet feeling great? I wake up so many times a night feeling anxious and stressed, although this week has been stressful with funeral etc. Sorry to be a misery, really looking forward to feeling well.

Hope you are all doing a bit better.
