mamasunshine I like the pimples now if it possibly means a boy
and I won't throw my White clothes and heels away, yay! Laughing at littlehuman giving your bras away

I've put up a piccie of me with bump if anyone wants to have a peep. Have a lovely weekend and keep hydrated x

sarrita · 10/07/2010 08:17

Oh Boobs.

I am quite tall, so having F cups wasn't too ridiculous before my first baby. Then they went up to Gs during pregnancy and Hs (H!!!) when I was breast feeding. After breast feeding they stayed at G. Now I am expecting to go up to an I and finish on an H. And that is ridiculous. Luckily there is a brilliant shop here where you can get enormous, but effective bras!

I still have my F cups - floating around the back of my underwear draw, they look so small .

My Granny keeps trying to find me suitable smocks and unflattering clothes to hide myself behind. I am so glad it is not the 1950s!

I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans the day after I had my DS. I thought you had to be like Posh and have a C-section and your plastic surgeon to perform a tummy tuck! The good news is that if you have a standard delivery, breast feeding helps your uterus contract (and keep drinking raspberry leaf tea AFTER you give birth - I didn't know that) you will return to your original shape. But then I put weight on when I was breast feeding from eating too many cakes!

Hello Ladies

I am expecting my 2nd baby (DS1 20 mths) on 27 Jan 2011.

I have been a while before joining this thread as I miscarried at 6wks in Nov last year. As I am 40, and this, as both my previous pregnancies, was conceived through IUI I was afraid to tempt fate. Even now, having had an 8wk scan and feeling and looking very pregnant, I am filled with trepidation!

We have a private 12 week scan on Friday so keeping everything crossed...

I am feeling dreadful, exhausted and nauseous all day every day which is in complete contrast to when I was expecting DS and it starts to play tricks on your mind...I must be feeling so unwell because there is something wrong. Ridiculous I know. I hope the nausea and exhaustion lifts soon and hopefully I will be able to relax after the scan

Sorry for such an angst ridden post...I promise to snap out of it soon

Many congrats to everyone else on the thread

mummychicken · 11/07/2010 08:49

sarrita WOW - those are boobs and a half!!! Small animals clould set up home in there

beaufies Welcome - we all have those horrid little doubts - you have more reason than most but I'm sure everything will be fine. Good luck with the scan.

Has any one that has had their scan had the downs results back (being on the old side this is a worry for me although quite relieved by my odds). Mine came back as 1 in 3000 which is low risk. Is this the lowest risk? or is there a lower one?

splodge77 · 11/07/2010 12:41

welcome Beaufies and don't worry about angst ridden post, its good to share! that's what we're here for. I feel like total crap too - I thought by now nausea would have cleared up (i'm nearly 14 weeks) but still feel sick and tired most of the time - boo! it is very boring. i also get horrendously bloated every time i eat. Is anyone else suffering from this - it is most uncomfortable. Any ideas on how to relieve it?

ok enough whingeing for now. xxx

mrsfrisby · 11/07/2010 18:35

Can anyone help? I have just been polishing a table with beeswax polish, but then noticed it says on the bottom 'Harmful - contains turpentine'. Should I be concerned? I am probably being overly paranoid but would appreciate some feedback/ advice/ calming down!!

WalkTheDog · 11/07/2010 18:49

hi beaufies feeling unwell is def not a sign of something wrong, or else a lot of us would be having something wrong too. Like splodge77 I am 14 weeks and still feeling really ill, and like getting so fed up of it. Struggling to do anything much other than get through the day to day essentials as I feel so sick almost all the time. Still also really tired.

Haven't been online for a while so off to catch up on the news

littlehuman · 11/07/2010 19:09

hi mrs frisbyi would not worry bout polishing a table unless you put your nose right in it and sniffed it for ages :-)

now i am the one feeling concerned too actually ,
my neighbours had a party for their 5th anniversary, and i got carried away with drinks(bout 4glasses...)i feel so guilty, that 2 days now i am wondering if i killed little human cos of my drinking...anybody has been irresponsable too? or just me

NeedToSleepZZZ · 11/07/2010 19:14

sarrita I am sorry, I will not complain about my boobs ever again, how do you cope??? Guess it's just because they hurt so much that I notice it.

mrsfrisby I'm sure you'll both be absolutely fine unless you've been eating it. I used to use beeswax and miss it as I loved the smell (odd I know, I'm not some kind of addict!).
There are so many things we're not allowed to do that I'm thinking about just locking myself away until 2011...Really, don't worry about it.

Had bad nausea all day, constipation for the past week, and now lying on the sofa about to watch the cup final in between wees, isn't pregnancy great?!

mrsfrisby · 11/07/2010 20:09

Thanks all, feel a bit better now... Although I also still struggling with nausea and my sleep patterns are really crap. Anyone else wake up at 4am every day or is that just me??
Littlehuman I wouldn't worry about a few glasses. Not so long ago noone warned mothers about dangers of drink and it wasn't a problem... They are pretty hardy apparently, the babies... Judging by how hungry I am most of the time I think they get first dibs on everything!!

stenogirl · 11/07/2010 20:36

Week 16 for me

hello -beauflies-

-mummychicken- my bloods were 1 in 68,000 and we were happy with that. I'd be happy with 1 in 3,000. I did loads of research before my result and you results can be as low as 1 in 50. Have you been offered more tests?

I've been chomping on Tums for my bloated belly, -splodge77. It's horrible being bloated and I don't fart in front of my fella so it can be awkward when the Tums start working (TMI) luckily I'm up and down to the loo peeing

-mrsfrisby- I wouldn't be worried about the wax.

I'll confess -littlehuman- . I had 2 vodkas and a beer on Friday night. I was pished

I got some nice maternity clothes from my neighbour but I need to get some smart work clothes soon. Headaches seem to be gone. Seeing the midwife on Thursday. Daydreaming about names, they've got to begin with C. Liking Charlie and Catherine at the mo.

deedee321 · 11/07/2010 21:11

hello everyone, i haven't posted for ages, but read your updates all the time so thought it was time to come back on board!
have quite significant bump at just over 14 weeks, am hoping is not due to the huge amounts of food i have been grazing on and at least partly due to the bouncy baby i saw at the scan last week - such a fantastic feeling, makes all the nausea worth while!!had been sure is a girl as pregnancy feels identical to my last one, but the scan somehow looked a bit boyish so who knows...
totally sympathise with all the worries everyone has been sharing, but i really do think now we have hit the SECOND TRIMESTER (whoopee do, seemed a long time coming!!) that we should give ourselves a bit of slack, so far so good, a couple of drinks or using polish you shouldn't or all the things that keep coming back into your mind should hopefully not be of any significance as the babies are fully-formed now, though obviously have a long way to go.
mummychicken, that is def low risk and something you should relax with, high risk is 1 in 200 or lower number than that. i am still waiting for my statistic, hope it is as good as yours.

HopingCatPlusThree · 12/07/2010 12:29

Loads to read on here since I was on last Monday. I can't remember what everyone said, but on the subject of boobs I am a bit concerned about this. With each pg my boobs grow, then after bf they shrink, and they always shrink smaller than they were originally. This seems very unfair, as I was only a 34B cup to start with, after DS they were 32A and I'm worried that after bf the new baby I may have no boobs at all!

I am now 14 weeks and noticeably pg. I was happy about this, until my MW pointed out exactly where my uterus was in relation to the bump and I discovered that the bump is just saggy muscles and fat! Bit worried I'll reach 6 months and look 9 months. It is really odd though that I get fatter through the day, then overnight the bump shrinks again. I start the day comfortable in my clothes and by late afternoon my waistbands are really cutting in. If I put bigger trousers on they fall down all morning. Might have to get waist adjustable ones.

For anyone still feeling ill, don't worry. You can wake up one day and suddenly feel better. With DD I felt sick until 17 weeks but then the rest of pg I felt great. No swollen ankles at the end, no backache etc

littlehuman · 12/07/2010 14:00

hi stenogirl
i am glad i am not the only alcoholic then lol
you should fart in front of your boyfriend!i am not gonna feel bloated cos of my dh, ahahah

hopingcat i am exactly the same bumpwise i got a completly flat tummy in the morning and it inflates during the day... ill ask the midwife next week so we know what causes it...

to everyone: how do you know this percentage thing for risk (ie 1 in 50 or 1 in 3000)
what does it mean?

mummychicken · 12/07/2010 14:17

littlehuman When you go for your 12 week scan, they measure the nuchal fold at the back of baby's neck and take your blood. They then put this info into a fomula including your age and they calculate the risk of downs's. You then get sent a letter. I am assuming you are in the UK.

Stenogirl Very envious of your REALLY low risk!!! Need to keep telling my head that 1 in 3000 is nothing to worry about as they have not offered me more tests. (Old bird here so risk obviously a bit higher!)

littlehuman · 12/07/2010 15:30

hi mummychicken yes i am in the uk
but i dont think i had this done.
where i can find the results? i never got a letter...or anything

LadyBuzz · 12/07/2010 16:05

littlehuman it depends where you are, our hospital doesn't do them at the moment. You should get offered a blood test around 16 weeks that will give you the results in the same way.

mummychicken 1 in 3000 is fine. I think mine was similar last time.

sarrita · 12/07/2010 16:13

The probability that people are talking about is from a nuchal fold scan. I had to pay £190 for mine - which I was implored to do by my sister, as she has just gone through a blood result that suggested an increased risk of downes. She then had an amniocentesis - where there is always an increased risk of MC. You may be able to find a scan cheaper than £190.

If you want one done I think it is only up to 14 weeks. So if it sounds like a good idea to you get on it!

mummychicken I don't think they measure the nuchal fold automatically - unfortunately. And, you would never bet on odds as bad as 1:3000. So DO NOT WORRY!!!!!!!

Thanks for the boob concern mummychicken and needto sleep. It sounds like me and HopingCatPlusThree have the opposite problem!

littlehuman · 12/07/2010 17:15

hi ladybuzz me again
i called the midwife centre today and asked they say that here(edinburgh) they do a blood test for downs and spina bifida,
actually got an appointment next tues with mw for that, i wasnt 100% sure this blood test will be what gives you that percentage.
so same as you, all sorted!

leepod · 12/07/2010 19:58

Hello ladies,

Could I please join you? I am just over 13 weeks pregnant, 33 years old, first pregnancy and EDD is 15 Jan 2011...

We went for our 12 week scan at the FMC cos there was a chance my partner couldn't be with me for my NHS scan, and our little wriggler in doing well and already 65mm big!!

It's lovely to have this space to share with ladies in a similar stage of pg and I look forward to nattering more.

But first, to catch up on 27 pages of back posts :D

LadyBuzz · 12/07/2010 21:04

Welcome leepod and congratulations.

littlehuman glad you got it sorted. just a shame it involves more blood taking

sarrita I have the same boob issue as you, I also seem to have lost all of my mat bras from last time - its doing my head in. I have them in almost every size and the cost a blimmin fortune grr!

superparty · 12/07/2010 21:53

hey all

hope your all doing ok

I have my scan on thursday, so am excited and nervous in equal measure ( I'm convinced I get there and they'll say What baby??)

we now have a new womans and childrens unit at our hospital, so I'm hopeing that they may do the nuchal test but I'm not sure if they do.

How young are you mummychicken, are you having any other tests done, I'm 37 and in two minds wether to have any done or not.

sarrita · 13/07/2010 01:42

LadyBuzz I went out and bought one underwired one. As long as it is the right size and is going around your boob, and not squeezing it or pressing on them, then underwire is OK.

I was surprised to discover that they sell underwire bras in North America, in fact they recommend them, for pregnant women. Opposite to the advice here.

I have been wearing it constantly... It did get a little unsavoury, but has survived a machine wash in one of those special underwear bags.

splodge77 · 13/07/2010 09:16

hi ladies, welcome leepod, i'm 33, 1st pregnancy too and due on the 11th so snap! (well almost)

mummychicken i was told 1 in 3000 too and was told by sonographer that was nice and low so no need to worry.

Sarrita, i have scary boobs too, went from c/d pre-preg to a G cup so goodness knows how big they'll be by the end. i'm a shortarse too so finding clothes that fit the knockers and don't swamp the rest of me aint easy. i bought a nice bravado maternity bra in the end - its sooo comfy. highly recommend.

It is so nice having this forum to chat on as i don't know anyone else at the same stage of pregnancy as me, have a couple of pregnant friends but they are much further on. well i guess the good thing about that is the possibilities of advice/hand me down stuff!

xx
