LadyBuzz · 28/06/2010 17:07

beebee welcome congratulations and yes its normal, My 2nd DS was just like that.
Good luck for tomorrow, let us know how you get on.

splodge77 · 28/06/2010 17:47

Hi lovely ladies

I just had my 12 wk scan. It was amazing to see our little splodge so clearly on the screen with its funny little froggy legs sticking straight up in the air - or rather up in the womb! There really is a little person in there. Woweee!

Chica31 · 28/06/2010 18:10

Hi beebee, really understand how you feel. Our first baby had trisomy 9 so I was terrified while preganant with DD. It gets better as time goes on and you start letting yourself believe you are having a baby this time.

I am 9 weeks now and still waiting for the scan letter. I'm going to phone the hospital tomorrow as we want to book our flights back to the UK.

When I had my dating scan at 7 weeks I said the same, there is a baby there?

Keep hanging on in the heat everyone in the UK, stay in the shade

SeoMum · 28/06/2010 18:15

Hi All

Sorry not been on for a while been busy with work

And so tired and hot at the moment not spent as much time online if I don't have to!

Just announced my pregnancy to the world which feels good, no more excuses for not drinking and getting a bit of a bump which is hard to hide. Turns out a lot of my friends are due around the same time and even on the same day!

The scan was amazing really sunk in so I know how you feel splodge77 I got a doppler and have been listening to the heartbeat which is lovely trying not to be obsessive tho ha ha

How is everyone feeling?

beebee1978 hope your scan goes well every pregnancy is different so don't worry if you don't have the stereotypical symptoms let us know how you get on

WalkTheDog · 28/06/2010 20:28

beebee1978 all best for scan tomorrow

splodge77 glad scan went well

I got given some 2nd hand sleepsuits today - they are so cute, unisex, but bright colours, only problem is they are only up to 7.8lbs, not many babies are that size these days! OH's mother told him at the wknd that we shouldn't have any baby stuff in the house until baby arrives - OK I get not wanting too much until baby viable, but until baby arrives!!!! And what are we to do with all the baby/toddler stuff we have in our house already? (got quite a few things from another friend for when pal came over from NZ with her 2 kids, and as friend didn't need them back, kept for all our visting friend/family kids).

FunkyMonkey1983 · 29/06/2010 11:37

WalkTheDog I have loads of 2nd hand baby stuff in my house already! My sister had her DS in January so she is giving me all the stuff he has outgrown. Luckily most of it is unisex! I have 2 black bags full already with more to come!

However, it's a bit sad how negative some people are being saying I shouldn't have baby stuff in my house as it's bad luck, also that I should get rid of my cats because they will kill the baby or I shouldn't give birth in the MLU because something will go wrong as it's my first.

HopingCatPlusThree · 29/06/2010 12:21

FunkyMonkey you are so right. People can be unnecessarily negative and it is sad. I think that some superstitions just play on people's fears, which is really unhelpful and can stop you feeling positive about your pregnancy. How are you supposed to be ready for one of the biggest changes of your life if you aren't allowed baby things in your house?

Also, while I am ranting, there is no reason not to go for a MLU. MWs are brilliant people who often in my experience know more than Drs. If you are classed as 'low risk' then give birth where you want. Just don't do it in the backseat of the car like I almost did!

And just to finish off my rant, I have 2 cats which we had before we had our 2 DCs and they have always been fine together. They are always supervised of course.

Ok, I need to stop. Sorry if anyone on here is very superstitious. I'm trying to offend anyone, but I really think we have enough to think about when pg and don't need anything more!

HopingCatPlusThree · 29/06/2010 13:21

Oops! That last line should have read "I'm not trying to offend anyone". Thought I'd read that through before posting. Sorry.

WalkTheDog · 29/06/2010 14:33

I'll keep the rant going for another post!

Regardless of what OH mother says, we will have baby stuff in the house. If people give me or I find good 2nd hand deals I am uying - we don't have the money not to. And if anything awful happens, it is not because we've had stuff in the house.

One prob is that OH has been brainwashed in so many other superstitions. We were away to Milan on holiday, and realised that the map/guide book a friend had given us was left on the table. I wasn't allowed to go back and get it, as we had already left the house to go away. Grrrrr....

We've got 2 dogs, and like your cats FunkyMonkey some people treat them like they are going to savage their children and our future child. All they are doing is making their children scared of dogs. OH and I are responsible people, what exactly do they think we are going to do.

OK rant over! I've harvested some of our new potatoes for dinner tonight, and I am looking forward to them already, hmm, so good

SeoMum · 29/06/2010 15:21

Walkthedog I heard that too but it is a bit OTT my sister is holding on to some baby clothes that her friend donated to me because of superstition but she can keep them for now till we sort out a place to put them I'm not too bothered about it stupid to think you'll have a baby and come home to a house with no baby stuff lol!
MIL has a Doberman and he is the softest dog in the world we wouldn't be daft as to leave him alone with a new baby but I'd hate for my baby to grow up scared of dogs, animals have a sense about babies and tend to be very protective of them.

I have been getting really bad headaches, don't know if its tiredness, the heat or just pregnancy but I never really get headaches unless I was hungover. Any one else experiencing this?

WalkTheDog · 29/06/2010 15:30

seomum Ive been getting headaches, a few others on dec thread too. Make sure drinking enough fluid, lie down if you can, and friend said she found vicks nasal block helped hers

FunkyMonkey1983 · 29/06/2010 16:29

SeoMum I second what WalkTheDog says, also if you are a coffee/tea drinker maybe have a cup. I used to drink a lot of tea but cut down when I got pregnant which still results in caffeine withdrawal headaches!

I find sometimes having a cup of tea helps my headache go away.

stenogirl · 29/06/2010 20:34

Hey seomum I'm the same with the headaches. Couldn't lie down at work so had it for six hours. Agree they're so like a hangover which makes me think I'm dehydrated. Just had a paracetamol fizzy drink thingy and feel better.

also my stomach is huge now. I feel so fat! My love handles have expanded.

Oh and the constipation mmm prune juice(!)

apart from that, feel good, lovin the sunshine. I held a five month old at the weekend and he was so lovely and snuggly. Can't wait for my little one to arrive.

I am superstitious. No pram in the house and no wearing green.

Hope you're all well and morning sickness phase has passed x x x

LadyBuzz · 29/06/2010 20:52

Green stenogirl I've never heard that one - please explain?

stenogirl · 29/06/2010 21:09

will have to check with my mammy but I think it's wearing green or being photographed wearing green whilst pregnant. Do you have any superstitions, ladybuzz?

littlehuman · 29/06/2010 21:44

no superstition in my household ;-)

enough stuff to think about in our daily life... lol i dont want to stress myself with extra things!

my cats are like 2 cuddly toys,
and they ll stay where they are!!!

walkthedog same here if someone gives me stuff or find a bargain not in a financial position to refuse

thats all for the moaning

2nd scan today
13 weeks 4days which actually now takes me to the 31st of dec.
amazing pics, saw the feet, fingers, stomach,etc... loved it!

littlehuman · 29/06/2010 21:45

beebee1978 · 30/06/2010 09:08

MrsAA · 30/06/2010 11:13

Hello Ladies,
I am 31 and expecting my first baby on the 15th January! Very excited, scared, tearful, tired.... Have my first scan on Monday and am hoping all is well

LadyBuzz · 30/06/2010 13:16

stenogirl very interesting, I love hearing all that stuff.
I didn't have my pram until DS1 was born or my double til DS2 came, but I use them both now so they are here and here to stay

I won't pass someone on the stairs though, or put new shoes on the table!

beebee great news, its fab isn't it?

Welcome mrsAA congratulations

FunkyMonkey1983 · 30/06/2010 15:22

I fully expected to receive unwanted pregnancy advice from every woman I meet, however, what I didn't expect is the most persistent and aggressive advice is coming from one of my friends who hasn't been pregnant yet!

Is anyone else experiencing this? I keep repeating myself to her that I trust my body and the health professionals but she tells me I'm being silly to do so and not everyone is designed to have a natural pregnancy and birth

She is trying to bully me into buying pregnancy supplements! The latest reason is that I will obviously be calcium deficient because I don't like drinking glasses of milk!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 30/06/2010 17:30

Hello everyone! Can I join you?

I'm 32 and EDD is 12th Jan, first child and sooo anxious about everything. My OH is very excited but scared as well, hopefully we'll feel better after scan next Thurs.

Nausea seems to be passing now but still so tired, haven't seen past 10pm for the past 2 months.

berrycravings · 30/06/2010 18:04

Welcome to those new since I last posted.
needToSleepZZZ love the name, 10pm whats that? Not manged to see it in months either, am dying to see mock the week. Think will have to catch it on Iplayer on the little lap top!

funkymonky I can't say I am a fan of all these 'expert opinions' from people myself. If we listen to it all I'm not sure we'd leave the house or eat at all!!I'm not taking suppliments, I am getting my eating patterns back and eat healthy so for me I do not see the need. I've not managed to drink milk since a morning sickness incident and my body has been craving lots of cheese in response (and lots of ice cream does that count for calcium??) I'm sure you know your body best

I'm afraid I can't resist buying baby things so our house will be very full when the baby arrives. Planning to get the cot and furnature from IKEA and as its a long walk around it all want to go before huge.

Talk of the scans make's be desperate to see the little one again, only 6 weeks or so to go....Are many people planning to find out the sex? (I am as a very impatient person)

Sickness was back this morning...ah well must end soon surely!

mrsfrisby · 30/06/2010 18:39

Hi all! Well, at long last had my first scan today and saw its little heartbeat and it did an enormous leap when she took the picture. Obviously takes after its parents - not photogenic either of us! So much more relaxed knowing its in there and all ok.
I too will find out the sex as am v impatient. My EDD has been established as 17th January so I wasn't far wrong.
Good luck to all
