littlehuman · 14/06/2010 19:54

hi deedee
not written for a while as was away in Brittany(france).
yes i thought about the fact that i ve been on medication earlier than i thought so thats good.

mamasunshine cat is doing "ok" , would need some time to adjust to the right dose of insulin, but on the way to feeling better

pregancywise , never feel full and eat constantly, defo not know anymore if belly is due to food or pregnancy...
not being very strict on diet either:allow myself cheeses and fried eggs, a drink now and again etc...but most people i know said it wasnt a problem if consumed in moderation.

i think since everything is more settled(life, health, hormon etc...)i feel "less pregnant"i dunno if that makes any sense...

superwoman25 · 14/06/2010 21:31

littlehuman It makes perfect sense, this week my nausea has disappeared and i'm not as tired, so defo feel less pg

I ate prawns yesterday at buffet, and eat fried eggs, cheese and an occasional drink, everything in moderation is ok, otherwise you'd go mad craving stuff you deprive yourself of/

littlehuman · 14/06/2010 21:57

superwoman nice to hear that from an experienced mum!

next scan in 2 weeks time, that'll put my mind bk to reality for at least a day or 2 lol

destructogirl · 14/06/2010 22:18

Hi everyone, can I join?

Destructogirl 33, pg3, EDD 8th Jan

Macmomo I'm the same with spots, feel hideous and don't know what I can safely use.

HopingCatPlusThree · 15/06/2010 13:11

I've finally got my scan date through! For 1st July. Unfortunately dh starts new job on that day so I rang hospital to change it. Thankfully they were really understanding but because they had no room for me the following week, they've given me an early date instead. So my scan is now next week! Very excited now! I really want to check that I've not imagined this pg. No matter how tired or sick I feel some days, on other days I feel quite normal so I feel I need to see this little baby to believe it.

Anyone else got their scan soon?

reallygrumpy · 15/06/2010 14:00

Hello all can I join you? I found out yesterday that I'm pg, saw doc this am and he reckons I'm due on 23rd jan (I think he's wrong and it's later). I'm in shock not sure why because we were trying and I was taking clomid, I think it's cos I tested twice when AF was due and had negative result so thought I wasn't pg then decided to test yesterday just to check before a scheduled appointment with the consultant and I'm pg! No symptoms apart from feeling very tired. Oh, I'm 37(old!) and have a 2 1/2 yr old dd.

FunkyMonkey1983 · 15/06/2010 15:22

HopingCatPlusThree I also have my scan next week. I also keep thinking that I want to check this pregnancy is real and I've not imagined it!
I've also got my first midwife appointment tomorrow and she's told me it could take about an hour!

FunkyMonkey1983 · 15/06/2010 15:23

Just realised I said 'also' far too many times...

destructogirl · 15/06/2010 15:26

I have scan next week too. Really excited and nervous.
It doesn't feel real yet.

berrycravings · 15/06/2010 18:00

Welcome to reallygrumpy and destrucigirl
I have my scan next week on the Wednesday, can't wait, I agree with wanting to know that I really am pregnant (despite having every sympotm under the sun). Think I'll be so nervous when it finally comes around. Although I had been feeling better the last few days, morning sickness came back this morning along with a headache (and no paracetamol did not help! Oh I miss IBProfen) Am 12 weeks (apparently) on sat so maybe that will be an end to the sickness....I like to dream!

Drivermamsstorytrain · 15/06/2010 18:15

hi girls,
haven't posted in ages been much too ill but i had 1st scan on friday and it was amazing im only nine weeks and my bean was tiny but the heartbeat seemed very strong. I have another on 9th july (previous problems mean i get more scans) and am counting the days till i see my lo again.

I haven't been sick at all today which is an achievement, but I dont believe its over yet and am frankly terrified of what to do when i go back to work next week after 4 weeks off. Ive barely got by at home, how does everyone manage when they are in work?!

Fingers crossed that your sickness is over berrycravings, you might yet be a symbol of hope for us all

mrsfrisby · 15/06/2010 19:45

Well I also have been sicker than sick some days, made worse by tiredness and stress. As some of you know, am a teacher in a sec. school and we have ofsted coming tomorrow and Thursday so am still at school and will probably work 7am - 9pm for the next two days. Not great when you feel soooooo tired and sick anyway! Any advice from teachers who have been through stress of ofsted before most welcome. Tbh, feel like I don't care as am doing my best given circumstances. Roll on the weekend (my booking in apt next Monday so scan sometime in next week or so I think... can't wait)

reallygrumpy · 15/06/2010 19:57

mrsfrisby and driver sorry to hear you're feeling
so sick. I had awful sickness (DH used to joke
that I had morning, noon and night sickness) with dd
but so far my only symptoms are feeling incredibly
tired and sore boobs so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't get so sick. I'm also determined
to try and keep exercising this time so I've just ordered
2 pregnancy exercise DVDs, I'll let you all know if they're any good.

deedee321 · 15/06/2010 20:53

mrsfrisby, so gutted for you!! My only advice about Ofsted is to to block it out at bedtime, I seriously wrote down a list of topics to think about when trying to go to sleep to try to avoid panicking about the next day. It is the most stressful thing WITHOUT morning sickness, cannot imagine getting through it just now. I am skiving off normal staff meetings at mo!! Only positive I can think of is that maybe Ofsted will seem less life-or-death as you have something so much more important going on inside you!! Pressure from school must feel immense though. My thoughts are with you, all the very, very best...

sarrita · 15/06/2010 21:26

I am 33, due with my second on January 7th. Feeling sick and tired and am incredibly knackered.

Had early scan last week, and saw little thing with a beating heart. Very reassuring. Going for a private Nuchal Scan, after my sister had downes scare, and the 13 week scan at the end of the month. Lost last baby at 10.5 weeks, so all fingers, toes and limbs are crossed.

I work from home and have been taking sneeky naps and feeling guilty. Ah well, someone has to. My husband keeps reminding me that I am grumpy and there are all these women at his work who are pregnant, and apparently they are all sweetness and light; and working in an office 9-5.

Not sure if January is really my preferred time to have a baby, but hey ho, a little bundle of joy will bring some brightness to the short winter days.

littlehuman · 16/06/2010 11:41

hisarrita
first we thought the same of having a baby in january but now we are pretty happy cos as my hubby is a chef that means new year off for him and finger crossed xmas too...and also maternity leave during spring and summer, the LO might be old enough by the summer to play in the garden, paddling pool etc...

mamasunshine · 16/06/2010 11:47

Hello
Welcome and congrats to destructo, sarrita - hope this pg goes well and reallygrumpy - I had neg tests till a few days after af was due. Also I'm keen to get back exercising once feel better, there's an exercise/runners thread on antenatal board too!
driversmam at scan!
mrsfrisby - poor you, really feel for you being under that much pressure.
superwoman25 - perfect new name you sound like you have it sorted. We're in a 2 bed and won't even contemplate moving until no3 will be well over 6months when I'll hopefully have a bit more energy! I'm really struggling to get out in the day at the mo, yesterday we didn't get out till 3pm My 1 yrs old sleeps mid am, then mid afternoon and my 2yrs old sleeps in between those times. they only sleep if in their beds so I'm a bit about how to work it!!
littlehuman - did have have fun in France? We had a fantastic holiday camping in Brittany when ds2 was 6 wks old. It was brilliant! glad cat is doing well

Well my 1st pg I was very strict and followed every rule about what not to have etc. I ended up being admitted to hospital at 31wks with pre-eclampsia, Emcs at 34 wks..I felt very hard done by
Pg 2 didn't drink alcohol in 1st tri but then had 1/2 units almost every wk, had occasional pate and brie and was much more relaxed about everything...homebirth VBAC This time had a glass of champagne at 7 wks but otherwise will drink non-alcoholic becks till 2nd tri then will prob be quite relaxed again (within reason!) I cannot eat overcooked eggs or steak so those are always runny/medium rare!

mamasunshine · 16/06/2010 11:49

I love the idea of Jan baby, I'll just be able to get all 3 little one's out of the house again by the spring

LadyBuzz · 16/06/2010 15:13

Hello everyone, my bloomin pooter has been broken AGAIN grrr! so I have not been on for ages.

Welcome to the new members. Sorry to hear some of you feeling so crappy, I'm not too bad just a bittired sometimes.

I finally have my booking date (mon) and my scan July 13th - it just seems so far away.
These first weeks have dragged on for me.

mamasunshine how did you feel about your Vbac? I'm hoping to try for a VBA2C EMCs with DS1 and ELCS with DS2. I have spoken to a Doula but I am slightly terrified after 2 horrific experiences!

SeoMum · 16/06/2010 18:15

Hi all
I have just had my dating scan which has changed my due date to January (previously thought late December)
Looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few months and sharing everyones joys and worries

stillsurprised · 16/06/2010 21:39

Welcome everyone and good luck with ofsted mrsfrisby!

I'm a little bit worried about the Jan baby thing, having occasional nightmares about snow and midwives being unable to get to work...hoping that after last winter we're due a mild one this time round. Not sure about having a birthday so close to Christmas either but, as DP has said, we should have thought about that before shagging in April

However I'm trying to look on the bright side with DS we were given loads of hand-me-down, adorable but utterly tiny snowsuits, he was a May baby so would've fitted them in about August. At least this baby should get some use out of them...

mamasunshine · 17/06/2010 09:29

ladybuzz - sorry to hear you've had 2 bad experiences. I found the emcs pretty horrific, I couldn't talk about it at all, people would say how did it all go and I'd be "oh, it was just awful, I can't bear to think about it". I was in agony and had holes/infection and bleeding in scar line for 6wks, Ds was very ill in SCBU for 4 and 1/2 wks as well which didn't help. But my VBAC was truely amazing...I can't begin to describe the buzz my dh and I had afterwards It wasn't the 'perfect' birth, he was back to back and it was a very long labour. It was the strangest experience, being in pain during a contraction but then it just completely goes and your on a complete high with your natural hormones in between...I felt as high as a kite I would definately recommend getting focused on the fact that you can do it (give birth vaginally), it's really important to feel positive about the impending birth, embracing what's going to happen. I couldn't wait to give birth (my friends' thought I was mad!) but I psyched myself up for it. Books that you must read 1) Vaginal Birth After Caesarean, by Helen Churchill and Wendy Savage. 2) Ina May's Spiritual Midwifery (or any of her's). The homebirth website is great - it's not just for homebirth's, and the caesarean website - google. Also yahoo have a VBAC group which is fab!

I've just had my booking app with midwife for 29th June and my scan is booked for 5th July! My midwife was trying to organise for me to see another one as she's on holiday and it's all getting a bit late, but i asked to wait to see her after her hols. Really need to get her on-side for me planning another VBAC at home, otherwise there's no chance the consultant will 'sign me off'. I briefly explained that i needed to talk to her as I'd had emcs followed by HBAC and she was what at home!!! So think I need to refresh myself on the research before the 29th..and will need my best 'selling' head on

mamasunshine · 17/06/2010 09:33

ladybuzz - Also I was up and walking around within a couple of hrs of VBAC, out at a bbq the next night and just felt fabulous

everyone - sorry if any of our experiences sound scary. Most women I know have had uncomplicated, relatively easy births and I'm sure most, if not all of us will have good births

FunkyMonkey1983 · 17/06/2010 09:34

I had my first appointment with my midwife yesterday and I've been classed as low-risk so I have the option of the local Midwife Led Unit or the nearest 'proper' hospital which is 1hr30mins away. I live in the Highlands of Scotland.

Has anyone else decided where to give birth?

I don't know which would be a better option for my first? I'd like an intervention free birth as much as possible but I'm aware that it doesn't always go like that!
