will promise to catch up on pages, does anyone know by what time you have to register with midwife,

Just another quick question, do any of the older mature ladies out there plan on having any tests done. If so how was it, what did the do etc.

I have 5 healthy children but last year with dd, I nearly made myself ill with worrying about having blood tests amnio etc.

dh said in the end 'would we terminate if there was a problem' i was shocked and said 'no of course not' theres your answer then he said, so we didn't have any tests and dd is just beautiful. but I'm finding myself worrying again.

I suppose the same questions apply, as to what would we do, and the answer is the same so, just ignore my hormonal rambling.

Hi all! Just updated my details. Feeling pretty normal at the moment - bit snappy with DS, which I hate myself for! Have told a few of my NCT group who knew we were TTC and I couldn't lie when asked straight out! Still not telling family though - think I am only 5 weeks.

Have 3 other toddlers coming over the play this afternoon so that will test my patience!! Hope everyone enjoying the sun - at least we will not have to be heavily pregnant in the hot months.

Ha ha mrsfrisby, do you know how many times I have been at someone for saying "you just have to stop trying"? or even worse saying "just relax, go on a holiday"....

Imagine my when I said "Stuff it I'm done with all of this"..and uh went on holiday and got a BFP!

Congrats sanielle thats wonderful news after so long!
Party- my son had to be terminated because he was diagnosed with a fatal abnormality in february. I didn't have any tests- it showed at the anomally scan. I understand that most fatal abnormalities can be seen at the scan. I can't offer advice but i can say that you not alone in your anxiety- i am full of questions and worries re tests etc. . Just a question to those of you with toddlers- when you have a moment that they are not running you ragged are they displaying an odd reverence to your tummy? I've just got my daughter back after a week at her gps because i was too sick to case for her, and she's kissing and patting my stomach. I haven't told her theres a baby in there and nor has anyone else. Very strange but sweet. Wondered if this apparant sixth sense is common?

I've added myself to the list. Went to see Dr so I have a vague EDD now. The scan will probably change it but it's nice to have something to work to, and when do babies ever arrive on the specified date (except for DD who actually did!)

Hello all. I should be working at home today but feeling too sick to concentrate and happily have just found this thread. I'll be 8wks pregnant tomorrow with my second (EDD 15 Jan 2011).

DD is just over 2years, and a treasure. She's obsessed with babies and walks around with her teddy under her T-shirt telling me her baby is sleeping. Feeling so sick and tired, which I did last time as well - till week 18, so there's a while to go before I start blooming. Today I've eaten 4 packets of crisps, half a packet of biscuits and a tube of refreshers, all of which helped briefly. Last time I only craved fruit which was a lot healthier, but right now, whatever works, I say.

Hello again!

Just been catching up with you all. Glad that everyone is more or less in one piece! My heart goes out to all the pukers - I've got gnawing nausea but haven't yet puked. It's the exhaustion that's getting me! I lost a year of my life to glandular fever and this feels just the same, apart from no swollen glands. I hate it! I keep getting flashbacks! But at least then I was signed off work...

I had an early scan last week and there was a heartbeat - had totally convinced myself there would be nothing there. So nice to see I'm not the only one catastrophising and obsessed with google. DH has made me promise to tell me if I fall off the google wagon, but sometimes I'm just too ashamed...

Glad you finally got your BFP party!

My booking appointment is at 10+5, so we can all compare notes about what happens when on NHS. They booked a scan date at 12+5 in the same letter.

Also glad to hear others are finding problems concentrating. I told my boss I was pg because I'm just performing totally hopelessly at work. He's been very sweet about it, but now I'm not sure what he's expecting from me, and don't really have anything to concentrate on, which isn't helping. Got a very stressful week next week, so perhaps I should just count my blessings at an easy few days.

Speaking of which, back to the grindstone.
Hope we all feel better soon (but without worrying that this means we're no longer pg). Crazy ladies.

Hi Seablue, is the booking appointment just the first appointment with the midwife? I think mine is on 21st June, at which I will be about 10 weeks, but I haven't had a scan date. Is that OK? Sorry to ask but I am new to this game...

mrsfrisby I had my booking appt (1st appt)on 17th May at 7 weeks and thats when they send the info to the hospital to book a scan but I still don't have my 12 week scan date yet. Last time it came by letter about a week before. so I wouldn't worry to much about not having yours yet. Ask your midwife when you have your booking appt and they will be able to confirm what happens in your area.

Lovely to hear people are having early scans and everything is well - good luck to those who have them to come.

I finally have my first midwife app on June 21st, it seems so far away! but I do have the same midwife as last time and she is lovely - I was unsure as we have moved house.

mrsfrisby yes that is right your first appointment os the booking one and you will get your scan date through seperately.

Thanks CLB1... Am having a panic now as have just read about some disease that I can catch from the hamster! Is it scaremongering or should I remove the hamster from the house without further ado?

anybody at this point wondering if they are getting a big belly because of eating too much or because of pregnancy??

hard to tell as 1st pregnancy....

I am definitely getting a big belly but suspect its bloating! However, as mine is second pregnancy, everything is much "looser" than last time, which is a horrible thought!

Mine definitely eating too much. I seem to be almost constantly feeding my face in an effort to keep nausea at bay. The problem is that I only seem to get 5 minutes relief between the gnawing hunger and the post food sickness so it's hardly worth the calories. Still, I figure that I can't drink, go out, tell anyone what's wrong, stay awake or be pleasant to anyone so I probably deserve a bit of chocolate

Hey there ladies - I've not been on in ages now so haven't properly caught up but thought I'd just say hello [waves manically]

mrsfrisby I feel your pain! I've not been sick but also swing between an almost unsatiable gnawing hunger and feeling really ill. I really can't win. I must have had 10 mini-meals yesterday - one of which a McDonalds double cheese burger . It was after work, I'd already eaten all the healthy food I'd brought and I was craving beef. My tummy is getting enormous which I'm sure is a combo of bloat and well, more bloat.

Sorry to all those who are actually being sick as I imagine that is pretty awful.

I'm off to Sainsbury's now to forage for something to eat as I've eaten all the meat in the house

littlehuman - my tummy's still pg looking from previous pg but it does look a little bigger some days with wind Or maybe it could be the extra takeaways eaten due to too tired to cook every night!

Saw midwife yesterday had weight, height and blood pressure done. Said they'll phone within the week to arrange app for booking and bloods etc. I loved telling someone my news face to face...was v excited Although she prob thought i was mad when i said i have a 1 yrs old and 2 yrs old at home !!

Hi everyone, nausea reigns here too but I don't mind at the moment, as had my early scan yesterday...was fantastic, saw little heart beating plus found out am a whole week further on than I thought! One extra week seems a huge bonus at this stage, so am really pleased. Next scan date came through today for 2nd July, when I will be 13 weeks by the new calculations. So for right now, at least, I am breathing easier...

Lucky you Deedee, that must make the nausea seem worth it! I feel very sick today and dread return to work after half term on Monday. Any other teachers out there who can empathise? I am miles from a toilet in my classroom and we aren't allowed to leave the kids alone so I don't know how I'll cope if I have to throw up!? The bin??

waves to mamasunshine, me hiding??? with this belly, i cant hide for much longer, i'm a bit embarrased to tell my midwife i'm having another, although she is lovely and i've known her since dc3, so imagine she'll just laugh. she has 4 girls like me but i have a extra boy.

i am also very nauseous but dont have time to actually vomit so amybe baby keeping me busy is a good thing
