Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. Had my booking in apt last Monday, my due date has changed to new years day. Midwife was really lovely (although 3 attempts to take my blood). I was amazed how efficient East Sussex healthcare is. While I was there they faxed my details to get a scan booked and I was told i would hear in a week or so and if any problems to call. Letter can with my date (23rd June) 2 days later. Nice to be on the system and to have it too look forward to as now sick!

oneof8 Can I suggest if you are worried to ask for the contact details of the midwifes? Sometimes you have to leave a msg, but they call back and are usually very helpful if you are worried about anything.

Hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend.

kipperthedog · 22/05/2010 16:39

Hi everyone

Welcome AsiaMajor & congrats

Hope everyone's well & having a good weekend. Mine was going well until a stray cat snuck in the back door whilst I was having a nap & has sprayed in my house...it stinks, needless to say it got chased off, but the stench is not helping the nausea!!

CLB1 · 23/05/2010 11:17

Morning Ladies,

So its been a loverly weekend so far and I've been feeling the sickest I have felt in ages, sods law isn't it. Its also my DH birthday today and I don't feel upto doing anything, I feel like a party pooper! He says it's okay but now he's moping around. Any suggestions?

Oh no Kipperthedog pour fibreeze everwhere that may help
BubbaAndBump yup octipus elastic thingies are a definate must I'm afraid
mammasunshine thanks, I'll ask at the early scan midwife tomorrow see what she says
asiamajor welcome, I'm so jealous you don't have sickness .. would you like mine?

I think I might have caught mammasunshines smilies, lol oh well enough from me right now, enjoy the rest of your weekend, I'm going to try to get up and see how I feel

NickiSue · 23/05/2010 15:41

CLB1 You have my sympathies This heat is just about killing me, I feel lethargic, nauseaus and am on day 11 of a pregnancy headache that just won't go away. Gawd am I suffering!
I feel awful too, DH is at work and I really should take DS out, even into the garden (we are a terrace with a private access road behind our houses which is between us and the garden so its not like chucking him out the back door, I have to go out and stay with him)but I just can't bear it- Bad Mum!

mummychicken · 23/05/2010 19:56

Some strange symptoms here - no sickness but a very blocked up nose and when I blow it - I have a nose bleed!

Let's be thankful we're not 8/9 months pg in this heat!!

deedee321 · 23/05/2010 20:53

Have read about that somewhere mummychicken, is meant to be common in early preg but can't remember why (how helpful...)

Had FORGOTTEN what it was like wandering round the house heaving like a cat with a fur-ball! Except this time am being chased round by DD - in some ways this keeps me going but in other ways I just can't take it!! Seems so unfair that the stage you're not meant to tell anyone is the stage you most need sympathy!

CLB1 · 23/05/2010 21:20

Thanks Nickisue I hope ypur headache gets better soon
Mummychicken I agree, I know someone who is about to drop and she is having an awful time of it.. I'd rather be to cold than to warm.. I am eating about 4 ice lollys a day just to keep cool
Hay Deedee321 thinking about it, it really is a bummer, I tried my best to keep it from work, lasted all of a week, can only say I have a sickness bug for so long before they got suspicious and the fact that I kept going to work kind of strengthened that

Well I managed to get out today around 1pm and went to my mums, was sat with my feet in my nieces paddling pool, great fun

splodge77 · 24/05/2010 09:45

hi all,

Hope everyone isn't feeling too grot. I just got my booking-in appointment with the hospital - I will be eleven and a half weeks pregnant by the time it comes around. Is this normal? I was expecting it to be a bit sooner. I guess its ok though. I do want to have the 12wk scan, do they organise these separately?

CLB1 · 24/05/2010 11:46

So had my 2nd early scan this morning and we could finally see something. There was a heartbeat but still looked like a little bean. They have said I am 8+3 and EDD 31/12/10. I would still like to stay here though please.

So here it goes.. please could someone add me to the list

CLB1, 27, pg1, EDD 31/12/10

Splodge My Booking in appt was with the midwife at the doctors and both times had it around 6 - 7 weeks. Then they sent off details to the hospital to get 12 week scan. (Still waiting for that appt)

Still feeling sick as a dog but smiling through it

BubbaAndBump · 24/05/2010 12:07

Congrats CLB1 for your bean with a heartbeat

Fun New Year planned for you then this year!!

littlehuman · 24/05/2010 12:11

hi mammasubshine
midwife appt on the 1st of june
and 1st scan on the 8th.
can't come soon enough...

HopingCatPlusThree · 24/05/2010 13:20

Hi everyone.

I've come to join in. Just recovering from the shock of discovering I'm expecting a third. DD is 3 and DS is 1, and DH said no more babies. Not sure what has happened or when but somehow number three is on the way. Aside from the practicalities (eg how do we fit 3 car seats in the back of our car) we are of course very happy about the news.

This is my problem - how do I know what my EDD is? Have got DR appt next week but I'm going to sound silly saying I think I had a period sometime at the beginning of April. How will they calculate anything? Has everyone else got a clear idea of their EDD?

The nausea is kicking in already so I'm probably 6 weeks ish, comparing previous pregnancies. But I've given away my baby books so have lost my source of reference. I'm sure someone on hear can help me/reassure me?

HC

LadyBuzz · 24/05/2010 14:02

CLB congratulations that is fantastic news.

Welcome to the new comers.

Still no real symptoms here (other then the rrage) BUT i am only just over 5 weeks so there is time yet.

I am doing absolutely shite at keeping it quiet though!

hopingcat I think 6 weeks ish sounds about right for the nausea to start.

They should just schedule your scan around the twelve weeks ish mark and date you prperly from that.

I'm at the docs on Wed, It will maybe feel a bit more real when I am in the system!

CLB1 · 24/05/2010 14:26

HopingCatPlusThree I didn't know when my last period was so I was booked in for an early dating scan. I had an idea of around 20/03 - 27/03. The midwife should book you one if needed
But yeh with the sickness I'd agree about 6 weeks ish. Arranged a booking in appt with your doctors and they should advise best.

Thanks LadyBuzz and BubbaAndBump
I'm kinda very small hoping the bean is slightly late so its a January baby.

I have this thing with people that I know that if someone's birthday is around xmas then they either join xmas and bday together or use xmas wrapping paper. I hate it, a bday is a bday and xmas is xmas, they should be different and celebrated seprately.

Sorry for the rant

OneOf8 · 24/05/2010 14:28

Hi All, Just a flying visit. Called the GP's today to ask for the name of lead receptionist. The lady asked why, and I confirmed I felt there was no need for the rudeness I had experienced (gave her a run down) she apologised, and confirmed the complaints prceedure. Then I had a call from the midwife... Not to sure what the receptionist had said, but she called me to go through "what to expect" etc and when I discussed the concerns with dates etc, I now have booking in on 1st June (2 weeks earlier)

She said they prefer to do this sooner to allow time to consider and preform screenings, as otherwise it maybe to late.

Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone else was wondering - I'll do a proper catch up later x

deedee321 · 24/05/2010 20:34

CLB1, hooray!! Fantastic news for you, you must be feeling so relieved and happy, all looking really good , that is wonderful they found a heartbeat!

littlehuman, how have you been feeling? Have you heard anything from the consultant thingy yet??

Today a child in my class arrived scratching and covered in spots...so I ended up racing to the head and admitting was preg a bit earlier than I meant to. Has decided could well be chickenpox...I think I am immune, but am being tested to check. Hey-ho, the non-stop joys of pregnancy

CLB1 - Congrats on 2nd scan , you must be sooo relieved! You're not allowed to leave this thread...we won't let you Plus being baby no1 sure he/she will be a little late! Unlike my ds1 who was 6 wks early Nice to see you enjoyed your Sunday afternoon.
splodge77 - booking-in usually 8 wks, can you phone and ask to have it brought forward/ask about scan?
oneof8 - good for you
asiamajor - Welcome and congrats And you too hopingcat+3 - I'm also expecting dc3! I have ds1 (2) and ds2 (nearly1), so will have 3 under 3 A little scary to say the least, but they're worth every ounce of hard work My LMP was 12th April and I'm 6+1 so you're probably 6/7 weeks...the scan will confirm dates anyway so no need to worry

Well the tiredness has really kicked in and the nausea - only for the 1st 1/2 day at the moment. Spent the morning nibbling carbs! Very tired after V busy wkend and day at work. Lucking forward to a leisurely day tomorrow!

littlehuman · 25/05/2010 10:06

hi deedee
got appt with ENDOCRINE specialist on the 16th of june.will take it from there

so funny your story of that spotty kid!
have you had your scan yet?

MacMomo · 25/05/2010 13:03

Hello, I am due 11 Jan. I'm 35 and it's my first. Will have first scan at 9.5 weeks - seems a little late but probably I'm being impatient. Reading everything I can get my hands on and finding out that I should have given up lots of things which I didn't know about like pate and vitamin a cream. DH is very happy, actively hoping for boy and then bought a second-hand surf van in case it turns out his life is now over...waiting a bit longer before we tell the families and friends.

HopingCatPlusThree · 25/05/2010 15:30

Hi MacMomo. First scan normally 12 weeks so having one before that is really good.

Is anyone else finding that by the end of the day you have a bit of a tummy? This is probably my muscles, which didn't recover from having my other 2, but I feel like everyone is already going to be guessing. With DS some people guessed at 9 weeks because of the little bump! Not good when you are trying to wait until 12 weeks before telling the world.

LadyBuzz · 25/05/2010 19:10

Welcome Macmomo and congratulations!

Hopingcat, yes I look pg already and i'm only 5 1/2 weeks

littlehuman good luck with your consultant app.

I got a great nephew today so cute, I am going to visit tomorrow and will probably cry all over him which is all I seem to have done today!

CLB1 · 25/05/2010 20:11

Hay All,

MacMomo Welcome and congratulations on the happy news. Like HopingCatPlusThree said scans are usually 1st at 12 weeks, although I had an early scan due to pains I was having.

Thanks mamasunshine I wouldn't think of leaving, feel like part of the family now
Hope you feel better after relaxing day.

HopingCatPlusThree I can't tell whether I have a bump yet or not, my tummy is slighly extended but I think that could be due to eating as I'm eating more to try to curb the sickness. I think I might attribute it to bean thou. Not good with the guessing, play coy and niether confirm or deny.

deedee321 Thanks, it was wonderful, I had a tear and everything, still doesn't seem real thou, which is wierd for me. Oh no at having to tell work, but prob better they know, just incase my team at work started to guess abotu 2 weeks ago die to severe sickness.

So I've spent all day at home curled up on the sofa feeling like I'm going to vomit at any moment. Movement makes it worse. Had to call in sick at work, felt really guilty as I'm not ill.. Feel like I should be able to suck it up and get on with it.

MacMomo · 25/05/2010 20:45

You're right, I checked and it isn't a scan just a first appointment. Shame!

I'm showing a bit already at 7 weeks and I think it's because I'm eating more to keep the nausea away. Also doing no exercise - I get home from work and pass out for an hour or more. Looking forward to the 'renewed energy' phase - there is one isn't there? Tell me there is one!

NickiSue · 26/05/2010 05:27

Morning all- early scan today, I should be around 8wks ish if you go by clearblue indicator so really hope we have a heartbeat this time. Very rough night and day yesterday stressing but I'll know soon enough. Cross you fingers for me please ladies x

CLB1 · 26/05/2010 08:34

Good Luck NickiSue all fingers, arms, toes and legs crossed for you. They may give you a picture as well for you to show off.

MacMomo I've just been reading up on it and around 12 weeks most people start to feel some resembalance of normal for a while. I am so so waiting for that stage too.

So today is my 2nd day off work due to sickiness. I'm not sleeping properly at night and think this may be making the sickness worse. It's at the stage where I really dont want to eat anything, cos it will just come back up again.

I've tried ginger biscuits, flat lemonade, eating small and often, even taking snacks to bed for the night and then the travel sickness bands. I think the sickness bands do help thou but don't make the queasiness go away. Spoke to the midwife about some non sickness tablets and she said that they will only give that if you can't keep anything down as it doesn't stop the feeling just actually being sick and because when I gip I'm not bringing anything up they won't help me.

Friend I know are telling me horror stories about how they had to have weeks and weeks off work in the early stages due to sickness. I'm bored at home already and DH is getting alittle miffed that I'm home but not doing any house work. His leaving comment today was "Will you atleast sort the washing out today if your staying home" I don't think he fully understands how I'm feeling

Well there's another rant from me sorry x
