Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sweetkitty · 29/04/2010 16:42

carikube - what's your exact reading? Iron levels do go quite low in pregnancy naturally, nothing some tablets or spatone won't deal with. Not sure about an ectopic heartbeat never heard of that before, does it mean the baby has a high heartbeat? Compared to what? Did she offer more details?

Carikube · 29/04/2010 16:54

sweetkitty - she told me to take spatone so nothing too stressful there; for the heartbeat it was basically that every so often when she was listening in that a beat would be 'missed' - the actual rate itself was normal (about 128bpm). DH has googled it and apparently it isn't that uncommon and often clears up within a month of birth so hopefully it won't be an issue. I guess I was just in an emotional place today so didn't enjoy not having a 'normal' visit like I usually do where everything gets ticked off nicely.

AnAngelWithin · 29/04/2010 16:56

five sorry to hear about DH gramps

ml happy shopping!!

SK fingers crossed for you! You may even have it before then hopefully!!

Just had a phonecall from the deputy head who took me very seriously and is going to have a word with the teacher in question.

I don't know whats wrong with me this afternoon, I feel awful. And weird. Almost ill, but not. Tummy feels to queasy and I am tired beyond belief Got strong BH, and feels like I am going to start on my period Feel a bit sicky too. Maybe I have eaten too much today lol.

PJen · 29/04/2010 16:59

I am so that you guys are in last month! Remember how badly you wanted to be this far when you were only as far as I am (8 wks) and enjoy!

sweetkitty · 29/04/2010 16:59

carikube - I know what you mean, a bad MW visit can bring you so down

angel - sorry missed that about your DD1 hope you get it sorted, your poor DD

cupcakefairy · 29/04/2010 17:14

PJen thanks! But you would be amazed how fast the months go by! You'll be here soon!

Wanted to also say thanks to Bessie for popping in the other day. I miscarried last year and it was very weird when the November ladies all started giving birth so do know how you feel..loads of love to you x

I wonder if Viv still ever reads the thread; hi Viv if you do think of you often.

Carikube to bad midwife visit. My iron is really low too it sucks. Sure the heartbeat thing is fine or they would have sent you straight into hospital but have a hug anyway!

SK you'll have your boy this time next week

five sorry to hear about your dh's gramps.. hope arranging a funeral doesn't stress you all too much and can be a fitting goodbye.

I have just slept for 1.5 hours on the sofa lovely!

alle01 · 29/04/2010 17:33

carikube- try not to worry too much (easier said, i know), your mw should had explained better what that means, quite normal to worry, i think, but i am sure that if it was serious they would have send you to hospital, do more test,...

Hobnobfanatic · 29/04/2010 18:19

Five - my DP is at his great-aunt's funeral tomorrow. Really hope labour doesn't start, as it's hours away and he'll be devastated to miss the birth... I hope your DP's gramps' funeral is local and the arrangements don't stress you this far into your pg.
I think the full moon is as renowned for deaths as it is for births, sadly...

Carikube - try not to worry. I'd be fretting too, but it doesn't sound as if the mw is concerned.

Angel - so glad that the school are taking it seriously. It's bad enough to deal with pupil bullying, but teachers...

KaffaCakes · 29/04/2010 18:20

Sounds like you're all as fed up of being pregnant as I am! Sorry to hear of all this induction refusal business SK, so much for control of our own birth eh? Especially as you know your body better than anyone.

I am feeling so sick all of a sudden, been finding this keeps happening over the past week or so. Am 37+3 now, so I guess my body is busy preparing for the bith. My pelvis is ridiculous- I feel like I cannot shut my legs properly! Aqua natal was a struggle last night, very uncomfortable.

I had a a contraction on Monday, a proper one after days of braxton hicks. Only one though! Someone at my aquanatal class mentioned that she had the same and her MW thought it might be the baby engaging. Anyone else had any experience of this?

I feel bleurgh

Sassles · 29/04/2010 18:27

Hi all,

Thank you for all the good luck vibes for the interview.

The 4 hour grilling is over. Not sure how well I did. Hardest part was first and brain didn't really kick in the way I wanted it to. Boss was leading the interview and felt he did actually want me to do really well and he pushed me for a lot of answers in order to prove that I did actually know what i was talking about. If he had just left it with what I said, i would probably have failed that bit, so really chuffed he did that. Other two parts went very well, so hopefully overall I did enough. Just so glad to get a good shot at it and can forget about it for now.

Came home and felt really sick this afternoon, but that is prob coming down after the adrenalin rush.

anangelwithin I am having really similar feeling to you over the last few days. Kind of ill and sickie feeling. Not really sure what it is. Really awful about the teacher and glad the deputy head is taking it seriously.

cupcakefairy I'm looking forward to wee afternoon naps now all work stuff is over with. mmm lovely.

ML well done on the weight loss. Hoping for a similar result here! I know what you all mean about new clothes. i was in big Tesco Extra and they had loads of lovely dresses. First time I've had wee clothes shopping jealousy. Almost bought something, but thought that wa a bit stupid till bump had subsided.

Carikube sorry to here that you are feeling down after MW visit. Hope you feel better soon. Agree that if there was any real concerns they would have you at the hospital, but not nice to hear something scary esp at this stage.

itshappendedagain Good luck with the studying. It will feel so good once it is all over.

Sassles · 29/04/2010 18:30

Sorry I meant hear, not here. Need to preview my messages before posting!

Kaffacakes - sorry to hear you are feeling bit poorly too. Not sure I would know what a real contraction feels like, but guess it's pretty obvious?

pamelat · 29/04/2010 18:40

PJen - congrats on your pregnancy. I think those first 8 weeks are the very worst, and not being able to tell people etc. You're right, its easy as this stage to forget how happy we should be!!

Carikube - sorry about the stressful midwife visit. I dont know much about the heartbeat but it sounds from your DH research that it should be resolved fairly soon. I know what you mean about getting upset as you are used to the visits being normal/standard. I ended up crying after being told I had high bp and the baby was breech. I am sure I only cried because my previous pregnancy had been so text book. I felt I had lost control and was shocked.

Five, am really sorry about DH's grandad. Its a real shame he never got to meet DC. I lost my grandad in January, a week after finding out the sex of our baby. I lost my grandma the month before we conceived and really sad she never knew about DC2. Maybe she does now, who knows.

To everyone else, hope you are bearing up. Have had a day with DD and am tired but ok, better than a few weeks ago really.

alle01 · 29/04/2010 18:40

hospital midwife said that through a real contraction you won't be able to speak, i guess that is why they insist in talking to you on the phone when dh call the labour ward and they do so many questions,...

pamelat · 29/04/2010 18:41

I cant remember what contractions feel like and it was only 2 years ago!!

pamelat · 29/04/2010 18:42

Hi alle, cross posted. I found some of the hospital advice really misleading. I was told I would only need an epidual when screaming and swearing at everyone but thats just not me, I would never do that. Instead I go very insular, quiet, anxious etc.

I was polite throughout except to DH of course!

alle01 · 29/04/2010 18:43

your body produces a hormone during labour that cancels the ability of the brain to form memories as a protection mechanism, to ensure you get pregnant again and don't get too frightened, got that in class, evolutionary psychology.

AnAngelWithin · 29/04/2010 18:54

urgh....tightenings here, accompanied with back pains and a lot of pressure... i'm only 36+4 (though i went into labour 24 days early with dd1) This better not be it!!!

OP posts:
alle01 · 29/04/2010 18:57

anangel, if it makes you feel better i had that on sat/sunday with a bit of pain for 24 hours, ended up in hospital, only to be told i wasn't even dilating, keep calm and remember, 37 weeks is full term,...

Pagen · 29/04/2010 19:00

Hello everyone, Pagens mum here again. She had a lovely boy born 27th at 7.30a.m.9.2 pounds, a big boy. after 30 plus hours of contractions. Still problems with the carpal tunnel but will be in touch. Congratulations to all the other new mums.

Pagen · 29/04/2010 19:02

Sorry ladies, not computer literate! My grandsons name is Jack John, and he's gorgeous! Pagens Mum.

rachelfruitloop · 29/04/2010 19:07

AnAngelWithin · 29/04/2010 19:08

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 29/04/2010 19:17

Aww congratulations to pagen

angel - I had this a few times the last twice and turned out to be false alarms might not be the real thing, I know you want to reach that magic 37 weeks.

pamelat · 29/04/2010 19:23

Hello pagens mum and congrats to pagen, born on your due date! Thats a rarity

pamelat · 29/04/2010 19:24

Because I thought I was having a c-section, I have not been drinking raspberry leaf tea, how many cups am I meant to be on?! Bought 50 today!

I have also not hired a tens machine, suddenly realised. Am 38 weeks plus 2 days now, probably need to get a wriggle on.
