Sweetpeasmum · 19/05/2010 18:02

I forgot to add that I'm A+ and therefore adding to support to the speedy labour theory.

schipo · 19/05/2010 19:02

Did you have any signs in the day before Sweetpea that something was about to happen - or was it really all done from beginning to end in a couple of hours?

Interested to know btw how come you had cs last time too?

great names btw - I can vouch for them

Carikube · 19/05/2010 19:16

Not liking all this talk of positive bloodgroups = speedy delivery - I'm AB- !!

cupcakefairy · 19/05/2010 19:29

Lol carikube I'm sure it's nonsense really! It was the midwife who toured us round the MLU who said it but when I mentioned the theory to my own midwife she burst out laughing & said "was that

AliMouse · 19/05/2010 19:41

sweetpea congratualtions and living proof that they do make too much fuss about having a vbac!

I've been keeping my eldest (10) up to date with these super fast births and he is now convinced I'm having the baby at home - something akin to the sketch from The Meaning of Life at the kitchen sink. He refuses to be left alone with me now!

I've been having really strong BH all afternoon and lots of pressure in my pelvis so things are definately moving in the right direction. Just very excited now - bring it on!

first1 · 19/05/2010 19:47

Congrats Sweetpea! Wow!

Still nothing to report here either. 40+2 today and been having lots of BH which I've not experienced at all until now so am quite excited things are moving forward. Seeing the consultant tomorrow so should be getting my induction date.

Sat here watching Soap Awards (yup Im that cool ) and eating yet another bloody pineapple. I'm solely propping up my local sainsburys 2 for 1 pineapple offer at the mo!

Hollyoaks · 19/05/2010 19:51

Evening all.

Congratulations sweetpea Pleased you got your vbac and everything turned out well. Also glad your ds seemed so unfazed by the whole experience.

Carikube - dd has been in a foul mood for days now. She's really twisty and clingy and throwing tantrums at the slightest thing which is very unlike her. My family think I'm exaggerating as she's normally so good. Don't know if it's because she knows somethings up or its the cold that she's been suffering from or a combination of the two.

Sorry for no more personals but I still feel really rubbish. DH said he could see how swollen my sinuses are and my eyes are stinging. I've also had loads of BH's all day, much more than usual, but they haven't amounted to anything. Feeling sorry for myself, sorry for the me posts of late.

Good luck to all those waiting, labouring and delivered.

pamelat · 19/05/2010 20:28

sweetpeasmum and minniemummy congrats

Alex is 2 days old now and with feeding all night we managed 2 hours sleep each last night. Stupidly I have not slept today whilst he has, and he is now looking rather awake. Silly me, that will teach me.

ande · 19/05/2010 20:30

Hi can I join please? Im due on the 31st with #4.

Feeling very ropey today. Had a bad night last night with sharp pains, felt as though baby was tying to scratch his way out . Strong bh intermittent with whole bump hardening for ages, oh and very nauseous all day.

Sorry for the moaning.

I've lurked on the May thread for such a long time, but didn't want to intrude

ande
x

AnAngelWithin · 19/05/2010 20:32

welcome ande! You wouldn't intrude at all anyway!!! Hope tomorrow is a brighter day for you x

OP posts:
MoggMum · 19/05/2010 21:28

Welcome ande sounds like you're not going to make it to your due date!

Feeling really grumpy today and very uncomfortable too. Lots of low down pelvic pressure which I hope is LO's head finally engaging

Selfishly it makes me feel slightly better that my fellow due daters schipo & rachel(?) are still in the waiting lounge with me .

TomlinTowers · 19/05/2010 21:33

Hi All

Just a quick post whilst waiting for Sophie to wake up for her bedtime feed!

firstly, huge congrats to pamelat, sweetpeasmum, wibblela, squirtsmum, minniemummy and all the other new mums on the thread.

I had a quick birth and am o+ blood group - think if the baby wants to come out quick, your body just does the job!

Much encouragement to those where labour is starting, or having pains etc. Hope it is all the start of something!

Good luck to all those having c-sections, inductions and sweeps!

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly Hollyoaks - hope it clears up soon.

Things here going well - Sophie feeds like a demon, got measured for nursing bra and have gone from 34D to 38H!! Got her sleeping times the wrong way round at the moment though - sleeps all day and up all night - and I mean ALL NIGHT - from 11.15pm to 6am, with only half an hour sleep! So having naps in the day, God bless DH looking after DS1 - hope we get the sleeps switched round before DH goes back to work! DS1 seems to have accepted Sophie well - we have only had a couple of incidents and these have been where he is tired. First day was a bit odd for him because suddenly I couldn't do loads of stuff because I was feeding but so proud of him for coping with it all [proud mummy emoticon].

MW came today - DD has lost only 5oz - now down to 9lb 2 - so really pleased.

Pigley - with you on the full boobs. Mine seem to be smothering Sophie! I think the advice from what I have read is to express a bit off by hand before feeding so there is a bit of flexibility and then as baby sucks she reduces the milk so can get better latch iyswim?

Quick question of my own - does anyone know how ofter newborns are meant to poo? DD has done her meconium poos but no bowel movements for two days now despite loads of wet nappies and taking on loads of milk. MW didn't seem concerned but I remember DS1 doing loads of dirty nappies - anyone any experience/advice?

pigleychez · 19/05/2010 21:33

Thanks for your advice on the BF ladies... Thankfully things have calmed down down and they arent so full and sore. Still expressing though as she isnt latching on very well.
I have looked at the Latch assist thingy.. We took our first outing today into town but didnt see it in either Mothercare or boots so guess ill have to order one online.

Cant believe that today would of been my Due date ad Lucy is 4 days old! Really really expected to be late again!

Congrats to Sweetpea Wow! bet that was a shock!
at reading the grufalo.. thats a fav here .

blood groups- reading through my notes today it says my blood group is A+ too. This one was a speedy birth but DD1 certainly want!

first1- Ive just started on the pinapple stash i bought on friday to get things going... didnt need it though as things happened sat morning

Ande- never too late to join us.

Speedy Labour vibes to everyone waiting

TomlinTowers · 19/05/2010 21:34

PS sorry - welcome ande, always good to have new people to chat too!

SquirtsMum · 19/05/2010 22:04

Ello all

Congratulations to all those who haave had little ones since my last post sunday

Quick up-date on me - Rebecca Louise was born at 1.37am tuesday morning, emergency section. She's feeding well and I'm just abit achey, was out of hospital at 3pm today so can't be doing too bad lol

Will post birth story tomorrow and some piccies (some on FB already)

xxxx

booboomonster · 19/05/2010 22:10

alimouse it's a good idea to be spending quality time with your DS - am trying to do same with my DD. Whenever I get fed up of being preg I just think that once baby's here I won't get the time to spend with her!

gils feel for you - hope it progresses!

den good luck with section on Friday!

rachel thanks for potty tips - I have tried bribery but to no avail (tho she loves chocolate). But after some close monitoring I think she does tend to do an evening poo... So will focus on timing as you suggest, and combine her sitting on potty with me waving the choc in front of her from about 6.30pm...!
molly thanks too - she does have a tendency to go somewhere quiet... It may be that I just have to be patient with this one- reassuring to know you got there in the end.

sweetpeas congratulations! Amazing that you managed vbac at home, well done!

hollyoaks hope that you do manage to get well before kick of, as it were. My DD is being super clingy (bit too much) at the mo - it's quite exhausting! I am sure they sense something is afoot....

Good to hear those with the newborns are doing well. I don't have much advice to give, have forgotten a lot, but I remember that awful swollen boob feeling so well. It does go though...
tomlin my DD didn't poo that often as a newborn and actually settled into a once every ten days cycle! I was worried but midwife and doctor not concerned, and it did mean less dirty nappies to change! It's worth checking with docs I guess just to be sure.

squirt congrats again and look forward to hearing birth story.

6 days to go for me... Not imagining anything will happen tho getting lots of BH and low stabbing pains. Hope everyone has a good night.

Carikube · 19/05/2010 22:15

Congratulations squirtsmum and hope you're enjoying being at home now.

Welcome ande Tomlin I remember with DD that after the meconium poos there weren't any for about 5 days so I wouldn't be too concerned - when they started coming they didn't stop

Right, here's hoping DD actually has a better night tonight....

Sweetpeasmum · 19/05/2010 22:50

Schipo - i had very mild irregular contractions from 9am until 6:30pm yesterday and then they stopped completely until the early hours of this morning when they progressed gradually prior to going completely mental for the last hour. I had an EMCS last time as DS wasn't diagnosed as being breech until I was fully dilated. I had to have a general an. as I was so far gone so this birth has taken me to the other extreme! Think I might stop now!

Ande - hello and I hope you feel better soon.

Den - good luck with the CS, at least with an elective it will be under control.

Right, off to bed now!

LuckyMiller · 20/05/2010 00:09

Serial lurker here but I have learnt so much from everyone here and been so excited about the births :-)

Am now 6 days overdue myself and due for a sweep at 11am Thurs. Coping well with all the enquiries and MIL telling me it's all she can think of! Positive Mental Attitude ;-)

Have also managed to overclean the cooker front along with all the temperature text - oops

Once again thanks to you all and Ill be sure to let you know of any arrival to complete the list

LuckyMiller

AliMouse · 20/05/2010 07:04

Welcome Ande! booboomonster my DS has been dreadful with his poos - still randomly doing it in his pants and he will be 4 very soon. He too disappears and goes and hides somewhere (under the table, in a cardboard box - he did it in a castle climbingframe in the park last week). Sometimes he just leaves it too late before he tells me but other times he is very stealthy!

I have noticed that he always always needs a poo about 5 minutes after going in a fairly warm bath of an evening. I pretty much just try and be vigalent but it is frustrating and disgusting. He spent all last summer on holiday in portugal pooing in the pool. Which was nice. I have no pearls of wisdom, I think it's just one of those things that require motherly patience and unconditional love! Have been told that with a new baby on the horizon, older siblings tend to regress a bit in their behaviour - maybe unconciously still trying to be 'the baby'. Not sure how true this is as he was doing it before I got pregnant! She will get there in the end.

If you get desperate however, here's another approach. Jacob's 10 year old brother bluntly told him last week that he was 'gross' and if he 'cacks' himself at school, everyone will call him the smelly boy and noone will be his friend, ever. Funnily enough, he hasn't done it since. Sometimes the direct approach works too . He got a 10% raise in the pocket money for that one...

Hollyoaks · 20/05/2010 08:07

Morning all

Welcome back Lucky and welcome Ande.

BooBoo - sorry no advice on potty training as it went disastrously with dd a few weeks back. Keep persevering and good luck

Well, still feel ropey this morning, but mainly due to being up from 4:30 to 6:00 with strong but irregular contractions. Going well and then suddenly they just stopped, felt different from when I had dd too, though can't say how. Anyway, dh stayed up with dd as she had got up by 6am and I had an hour in bed. Had to get up as dh has gone to work and feel totally sick now and jet lagged. Sorry just feel like all I do on here is whine at the minute.

Glad to hear all the newborns are doing well and bf/expressing seems to be going well too. Hope the lo's up all night soon learn day from night and I am sure all of you suffering from lack of sleep feel worse than me. You have my sympathy.

Can you tell I love my sleep.

cupcakefairy · 20/05/2010 09:16

Morning all
Still nothing from me and now officially overdue! Hmph. Heard this morning that dh's cousin had her baby yesterday - not only 3 weeks early but stole our due date bit fed up of everyone having babies before me now!

Bit at all the poo stories..I'm worried enough about dealing with newborn poo let alone toddlers!

Hi luckymiller good to hear from you
and ande glad you have posted! You should have joined long ago! Hope things start moving along for you soon.

Good to hear about all the lovely babies, hope you start to get more sleep soon! And hollyoaks hope you feel better really soon!

Carikube · 20/05/2010 09:44

Hollyoaks don't worry - I seem to have turned in to the woman who can whine for England at the moment. DD had another bad night; I decided that I would try not getting her up this time so spent a long time beside her cot just stroking her back to sleep but it meant I spent the night up and down like a yoyo as she didn't ever sleep for very long stretches. V exhausted today so now torn between wanting LO to arrive and wanting to just catch up on sleep.

MW is supposed to be coming round this morning to do a sweep but I haven't heard from her yet so I just hope that she hasn't forgotten me. If I don't hear from her soon I'll have to give her a call to jog her memory.

Hope everyone is well and that we get some more birth announcements soon (mine, preferably )

brightredballoon · 20/05/2010 11:47

Hi girls

congratulations to all the new arrivals! Sweatpea what a story, I spose that at least removed the question of whether you wanted continuous monitoring!!

We are all fine, no idea what DD2 went down to in weight as first weigh in was 10 days when she was 2oz below birth weight then at 3 wks she was 8lbs 10 so she put on 13oz in 10 days which I am happy about.

Pigglez with DD1 I had to manually shape my left nipple before she fed, sort of rolling it between my finger and thumb until it popped out, after a month or so though I didn't need to do it any more, it was well used to feeding then!

Sorry for not any more personals, life is so busy with 4y, 2yr and the newborn, hats off to those of you with more!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 20/05/2010 11:48

We're going to need a new thread soon, girls...

luckymiller, nice to hear from you, hope you have an announcement soon.

Welcome to the thread, Ande.

Ali you made me laugh with your 10 year olds scathing approach to potty training! We're halfway through PT as well, ds will wee in a potty but only standing up. Won't sit down on potty or toilet at all so he doesn't poo anywhere except a nappy. And he's another one who likes privacy, he'll often go in a corner with his hands over his eyes to poo.

Carikube, I'm 6 days over, too. Did you ask for the sweep or was it recommended? I've been vaguely offered one but I'm too scared and squeamish think we're going to spend the weekend having lots of unsexy sex and nipple twiddling instead in the hopes of triggering labour.

I think the bump dropped yesterday as the pain in my pelvis has gone to another level. I'm waddling like a duck, and when I go to sit down it feels like I'm sitting on her head so hopefully that means she's properly engaged and ready to go. Come on, baby!
