Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
alle01 · 29/04/2010 09:13

my dates were brought forward 3 days too, it seems to be a trend, but i am not getting comments cos my bump is so small, just from people who is closed, cos i have gone to hospital a couple of times and came back without baby
caribuke- good luck with that job/moving/baby/all changing at once...
my mw has also said for the last 3 app she wouldn't be surprised not to see me again, the last one she gave another for the 5th of may but she doesn't think i'll make it, ha!, the way i'm going...

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 29/04/2010 09:22

Rachel, this is the first pregnancy where my dates weren't ammanded for some reason.
Itshappenedagain, yes please. just want to have her in a safe controlled environment, not by the side of the road and have to be transfered for baby to be intensively monitored and possible put on a drip.
Tomlin have a lovely day at the seaside today.
Moggmum Enjoy your pamper day, I'm very jealous!
ML glad Olivia and you are doing better now.
Spoke to my midwife today who was a bit miffed at how I'd been treated yesterday. They are going to come out to me and see what's occuring (or not) down there and give me a sweep to see if that helps prepare me for Monday. She also said i should go in with a list of my concerns and try to hold my ground about induction the way i'd had it before. She's not too concerned about the effects of Prostin pessary on me as I've never had a problem with it before.

alle01 · 29/04/2010 09:38

five- i think your mw is right, a swap might get things started, but if it doesn't, having a list with your concerns will help you keep calm, make your point and avoid being overwhelmed by the doctors, some think they're god cos they have a degree,... it also helps show the other part that you are serious and have thought about this.

sweetkitty · 29/04/2010 09:52

Morning all not much happening here today, DPs last day at work, he has Friday and Tuesday as holiday and hopefully will start his paternity leave next week. Have MWs appointment at 2pm luckily a friend is going to mind DD2 and 3 so I don't have to lug them along as usual. Sometimes I get so down about not having any family support. I think they want to do a VE and a sweep not keen on the sweep, I don't see the point really, apparently they are not recommended until after 40 weeks and only work if you were very close to going into labour anyway. What's the point if I am not ready and are going in for an induction next week? I don't want to go into labour today and any sweeps I have had before have never worked. I think MWs are a bit sweep happy

five - hope things go OK for you, I agree I think it's more to do with their stats and trying to get their induction numbers down, probably costs more to induce than natural as well. It's only a increased RISK with the prostin, it's not a given.

Dates - if you go by my LMP I am actually due Sat 8th and not the 5th as by the scan. I trust my LMP more as I have a spot on 27 day cycle and ovulate on CD15 and I didn't have sex until CD15 to be blunt but if the scan says it the scan says it apparently. I was using OPKs as well as it was my first period since having DD3 so wanted to make sure everything was back as it should be IYSWIM?

carikube - what a stress with the interviews, but I do believe your body won't allow you to go into labour unless it is comfortable and you are at ease. I believe I was so late with DD2 as I had sinusitis and she was waiting until I had recovered a bit. Also why most babies are born at night. These things have a way of working out just fine.

rachel - so glad your DS is feeling better, enjoy your snooze as well

heffa - looks like none of us were affected by the full moon, I am freaked out that this time next week I will have a baby!

alle - well meaning relatives eh? I was "told" I would have to get rid of my cats as they would smother DD1 to death nearly 6 years later they have yet to, I never found them anywhere near the babies TBH. It's more a case of the babies smothering the cats.

booboomonster - I had that weird stitch thing a fortnight ago as well lasted all day and night. Respect to you potty training I can hardly change a nappy.

Right hope everyone else is doing OK and not suffering too much, have got a few things to do today, DP for all he is great just doesn't do the housework like I do, he misses the little things.

memorylapse · 29/04/2010 10:16

SK...when I was an in patient the amount of ladies that had come in for sweeps and still needed induction with prostin..they just dont seem to work and arent very nice either...my consultant gave me a sweep before I was induced..but nothing happened.

Schipo...Ive perfected the art of one handed typing whilst feeding

alle01 · 29/04/2010 10:28

my mw said that it is no point in doing a swap before week 41, as it can only speed up the process when labour is imminent and it is worth a try about 2 days before an induction, otherwise it is just a waste of time and just discomfort for me, when i complaint she was waiting to long to do something about labour,
and yes i am getting impatient...

peakyispreggers · 29/04/2010 10:30

Good morning ladies,
Congratulations on the new arrivals, will have to try and find your birth stories on the last thread, hope you and the babies are all happy and doing well.
We have had 8 weeks without internet in our new house - thought I was going to go mad! All moved in now, so need to start seriously sorting out the nursery and packing a bag for hospital.
Re raspberry leaf capsules - how many are people taking per day? Heard too many can give you an upset stomach.
Anyone else had enough of pregnancy yet? I want to drink wine, sleep on my tummy, get up off the sofa without sounding like my nana, breathe normally and go for a walk without feeling like the baby is trying to claw its way out of my cervix. TMI?
xx

sweetkitty · 29/04/2010 10:33

ML - I agree that a sweep is a bit useless unless you are VERY close to labour anyway. And they are not nice and uncomfortable I think I am going to refuse one today.

peaky - I am way beyond being fed up being pregnant lol think most of us are now.

peakyispreggers · 29/04/2010 10:35

ps here is a review of lots of studies on membrane sweeps

www2.cochrane.org/reviews/en/ab000451.html

alexw · 29/04/2010 10:53

Morning all. Sorry for not posting for so long - have got MASSIVE water retention which has caused my feet to swell so much I cannot get even my slippers on and has meant that the pins and needles in my arms are there all the time and my hands are agony! - If anyone has any tips I would be so grateful. I can ease it a bit when I walk around but then it feels like baby is grating on cervix. Grr have soo had enough now.
On the other hand, babies will be here soon and then there will be bigger worries. Hope everyone's appointments go ok and you get what you want with regard to inductions/not. Still no idea what's happening with dd1 when it finally happens but will just deal with it.
Congratulations on the new arrivals .

Sorry for moany selfish post.

SquirtsMum · 29/04/2010 10:56

RE sweeps - I'm booked in for one 3 days after due date next week as MW seems to think Squirt will probably be here by then and if not it'll only take a rummage to get things started

Slept for a glorious 8hrs last night in between 7 (yes, I counted!) loo trips.
Still have pains and aches but getting abit disheartened as I'm very impatient to meet babe soon, it feels like I've been pregnant for years!! MIL phones everyday now to see how things are and if there is any news, but DP has to field as those calls as she doesn't have my mobile no and we've only given our home no to my mum so far. She means well but if I have to hear the 'ooo I started 2 of my labours by skipping, you should try it' I'll cry

I love fresh pineapple but am unwilling to eat 8 - I'd probably start throwing it around the house or try to carve it into something rude

xxxx

alle01 · 29/04/2010 11:20

it is stairs for my mum, she keeps insisting it will get me into labour...., i have 3 sets of stairs at home, i am forced to use them like it or not, but she keeps saying, honey, maybe if you try going up and down some stairs,... she means well, bless her, but it only adds to my agravation.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 29/04/2010 11:53

Re sweeps: I'm not convinced they work often but am happy to have them. They don't want me going on much longer because of my BP so I will probably have a choice between induction/section unless I go into labour spontaneously so I think they're hoping that sweeps might get things started and I won't need as much intervention. I don't really mind the sweeps too much though so not very fussed.

Rachel - it is a bit scary how close it all is now. I think I'm unlikely to still be pregnant at my due date after what the doctors were saying yesterday but they can be contrary so will wait and see!

Hobnobfanatic · 29/04/2010 11:57

Bleurghghghgh, even reading about sweeps in that review you linked to, Peaky has made me feel weak! I don't even like the mw checking how dilated I am - just too sensitive!

Glad you're all up and internetted in your new home

Squirts I love the idea of carving rude things into pineapples!

Rachel - I'm completely with you on the dates thing. It drives me mad when they take the size scan over known dates. With DD1, my dates said she'd be born 10 Oct. The scan moved it to 3 Oct. She was born on 10 Oct - technically a week late, according to the NHS, who had already started planning inductions! To me, she was exactly spot-on. This baby's dates have moved too, bringing it earlier. But, again, that's probably just cos she's a big baby!

AnAngelWithin · 29/04/2010 12:14

hi all! lots to catch up on already!! Think i named the thread correctly lol!

alle if it was stairs that did it, I would have had the baby by now!!

squirtsmum glad you got some sleep! I had a bad night last night.

peaky glad you got internet sorted!

ML glad olivia is doing well

re sweeps...I've never had one...last 3 babies were early...hope I don't need one this time!!

I am so hungry today!!! Just had a ham sandwhich and I don't feel any fuller than before I had it!!!

Dates and scans. well mine were moved all over the place!! By my dates the baby is due about the 15th may, not 24th. They moved my dates back and forth so much to start with.

Very bored today. Done just about all I can do! Unless.....well...unless I start painting the kitchen?!? Waiting for head teacher to ring me so daren't put the hoover on in case I miss it! Poor DD1 is being bullied at school. By a teacher Want it sorted!!

OP posts:
cupcakefairy · 29/04/2010 13:18

Hi girls
Re dates I agree it is so annoying the way they are calculated.
Actually most women don't chart their cycles so wouldn't know when they ovulate... the way due dates are calculated assumes all women ovulate day 14 so it's no wonder so many go overdue...they are probably just late ovulators! I ovulate about day 20 so I lied adjusted my LMP date to reflect this and hoping that means my due date will be pretty close! (Watch now I'll go over by 2 weeks )

Rachel glad your ds is better love the stealth hiding of steroids in creme egg

heff and alle what are you still doing here you were supposed to have full moon babies! Hope you're both not suffering too much.

cupcakefairy · 29/04/2010 13:19

Oh and hi peaky well done for getting all moved in with no dramas! Glad you're connected again.

pigleychez · 29/04/2010 13:35

SK-Hope things go ok at the MW this afternoon.

Peaky- Welcome back, Glad you are back up and running with the internet.

Alex- Poor you on the water retention. My feet got HUGE after the birth and it was sooo annoying. I rememeber my PIL's visiiting and being horrified! Plenty of feeting up

Squirtsmum- Know what you mean about the calls. When i was overdue,my mum would call everyday saying "havent you had it yet? Have you tried this or that" Id tried everything in the book and it wasnt as if i had any control over it.
Or she currently tells me constantly to sit down and relax more... Great in theory but have no family around to help so almost impossible with a toddler!

re sweeps- My sweep with DD did nothing at all apart from give me a "show" Got all excited thinking it was happening but I still had to be induced a week later.

Angel- With you on the hunger. Just had half a small cheese baton for lunch, a handful of raisins and an apple. Followed by 2 Thorntons caramel shortcake slices and still feel like i could eat more!
Hope you get the school sorted soon.

Had my MW appointment this morning. Alls well in Babyland. BP was high but had dropped when she did it again towards the end. DD was chuckling at hearing babies heartbeat and could hear its hiccups again. Again MW mentioned about baby being a "good size", Which does kind of worry me a tad!
Baby is all engaged and ready to go! But then i heard all that with DD Anyway... anytime you like baby

Popped into Tesco on the way back and got DD some new summery clothes.- 25% off clothes at the mo and bought a cute little teddy for DD to give to baby. She loves it and was showing everyone it telling them it was for baby. Bless her

alle01 · 29/04/2010 13:54

i am not deluding myself looking at new clothes just yet, my plan is to try on my existing prepregnancy clothes like a month after birth and see in what i can fit; i've been rumbling through them the other day, and after all this time, i am actually quite exited about wearing some of it again how sad is that!

memorylapse · 29/04/2010 15:14

Peaky..welcome back

Im going clothes shopping soon after having a major tantrum because everything is too big..t shorts now hang on me..my jeans fall down..Ive lost 2 stone...when I had DD2..I looked 6 months gone for about 2 weeks after and could only just squeeze into pre pregnancy clothes after that..this is bizarre (but nice)

memorylapse · 29/04/2010 15:14

t shirts..not shorts..

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 29/04/2010 15:41

ML, well done with the post baby body! very of you.
Angel, I hope you get that wicked teacher sorted. What's happening? some people aren't fit to teach.
Having a bad day again here, just waiting for DH to come home so i can give him a big hug. His Gramps died today. Now we've got to try and schedule in a funeral as well as a birth next week it would seem.

alle01 · 29/04/2010 15:43

oh, five, so sorry to hear that...

sweetkitty · 29/04/2010 16:15

Right first my news, so went to MW who wasn't the first useless one but the second useless one, I debated a sweep and in the end said to her if you want to but please be quick and not too rough as I cannot lie on my back without it being painful, TBH I don't think she gave me a sweep (I have had one where I thought she was going to pull my tonsils out) said although baby is engaged my cervix isn't doing anything, cannot remember the correct term but once you have had a baby it's always about 1cm dilated and that's where it is just now. She said she doesn't think the baby will come before term but I said I am a super fast dilator. Anyway then we had a "discussion" about induction dates. I really pushed her hard to book me in on Monday or Tuesday but she had a bee in her bonnet about me going bang on 40 weeks even though I said the consultant was happy for me to go anytime after 39 weeks, she hadn't written it down so the 5th it is, I mean for one day I told her my reasoning was that it was school inservice on Tues which meant it would be easier for me but she wasn't having it. So the plan of action is, go in at 8pm on Tues 4th to be assessed, if they can they will break my waters if not I will need the gel to soften my cervix and they will reassess me in the morning then hopefully break my waters. Hopefully the drip won't be needed at all.

MW did give me a hug on the way out and say she will see me at home next week with my new boy.

At DD1's school today I saw 5 week old twins whose Mum was due 2 weeks AFTER me, they are SO gorgeous and tiny still only 5lbs odds each, strange to think this one is bigger than that already.

five - so sorry to hear about your DHs Granpa will send you a message on FB

ML - time for some nice new clothes

pigley - sorry but chances are you will go overdue again, you might be one of these women whose babies just need longer to cook, I was told that if you are overdue once you will probably be overdue again. But then again babies don't know their due date do they?

Oh just got back from MW and school run and my lovely friend was looking after DD2 and 3 and DD3 was kind of falling asleep on me so decided to take her home just as she was sick all over me and friends sofa, DD3 has never been sick since she was a posseting baby so she was so upset, not like her at all. Had to clean up sick then drive home covered in sick myself, she's asleep just now though, poor baby.

Fresh pineapple only ever gave me the runs - maybe that's the idea

alexw - sorry to hear you are having a hard time of it, have no idea about swelling

Carikube · 29/04/2010 16:31

Grrr...posted earlier and it got wiped again.

Five about your DHs grandpa.

ML very that you are so skinny already!

Went to MW today and came home very teary - I never had any problems with DD and haven't had any with this LO up til now either so I'm not used to being told that things aren't quite right (sorry for sounding so pathetic to those of who that have had/are having stressful pg/problems as I know what I'm putting up with is minimal). However apparently my iron levels are now too low and more importantly she picked up an ectopic heartbeat for the baby. She phoned the day unit but they said there was no need to go in so she has just recommended that I give up caffeine for the rest of the pg (I was only on about 2 cups of tea a day so nothing excessive in terms of the guidelines).
