Hi all, and welcome athrawes

and how exciting Memphis!

I'm still in hospital, they've done more blood tests to check on the anti D (turns out my aunt is rhesus negative too) and went for a scan. Despite everyone yesterday saying baby was head down, she's actually still extended breach, which explains the pressure I've continuously had under my right ribs - it's her head. And those jabs in my right side are her elbow and the wriggling down below is her bum. This is a bit of a relief as it means if I bruised her at all yesterday, it was her bum and not her head.

The other thing the scan showed up is that she has a huge head (like her dad.) wah!

I've got more steroids in a bit and another ctg but looks like they're going to send me home. DH has categorically banned me from going back into work this week. Looks like he's going to be sending step-mil and my mum to come down and babysit me. I'm not very good at sitting around doing nothing. It's going to be enforced r&r!

memphis83 · 08/06/2010 14:08

anifers what a relief, its unusual to be glad baby is breach but in this case its cleary good news! good on your dh banning you from going back to work this week, you need to rest, does that mean you may need a cs if she is breach? think everyone is moving over to new thread now!

kkfairybrains · 08/06/2010 14:16

anifers that sounds like great news! hopefully you're home soon and resting up and your dh is right! quite the fright for him too so you can look forward to everybody fussing over you for the next few weeks!
memphis thats the part im dreading! 'any sign, anysign?!' so exciting for everyone though!

stac14 · 08/06/2010 15:59

anifers so glad lo is well and so are you, defo have the r&r even though its forced.

memphis can't believe your plug is coming away already, maybe they will check you out tomorrow at the hospital.

kk sounds like you had a great weekend. Have you had aching feet for a while? My friend is a hairdresser and has had a sore back and feet since about 15 weeks. When do you stop for maternity leave?

Thanks for thinking of me ladies, I don't think I am too worried as I have only 5 weeks to go and lo will be here, also the diabetes doesnt affect her apart from making her a big baby but they hope to slow that down with medication, will find out what kind tomorrow

How are you all? xxx

Hi, nice to be able to talk to people at the same stage as me. Can I ask - is anyone doing mattress wrapping? Here (New Zealand) we were told about a Dr Sprott who says that one of the causes of SIDS is the vapours given off by new cot mattresses. He says that the way to avoid these vapours is to wrap the mattress in a heavy duty plastic (not the wrapping that the mattress came in) - it was quite a big deal at ante natal and I just don't know whether to or whether this is just another thing for me to stress about.

Chulita · 09/06/2010 09:49

I've never heard of mattress wrapping in my life! If you're worried I'd get the cot mattress early-ish and leave it outside a lot to air...
Don't forget to hop on the new thread!

Jojobil · 09/06/2010 11:40

Yes not something that is done in UK.... My MIL is in NZ, but never ever heard of this. I just put a mattress protective cover and then sheet. If anything I was told to get a new mattress as "used" once "old" ones were a problem.... I think we are all on the new thread now. And everyone is wondering how Anifers is doing?

Athrawes · 09/06/2010 22:49

Sorry, being dumb as...where is the new thread!
