DesperateHousewife21 · 23/05/2010 10:02

memphis yeah I said to DP while I was painting them that they now have to stay looking nice til the birth cos I wont be able to get to them in a few weeks I can guarantee that!

Thanks viksam hope you have a nice day at the beach, dont forget the suntan lotion!

Gracie123 · 23/05/2010 13:54

I think pregnancy makes me allergic to the sun! Normally I'm a worshipper, but my GINGER dh is managing to stay out longer than me at the moment. I guess low BP and hot weather don't mix.

I got gorgeous White linen trousers from pumpkin patch. You can buy online and they are only £12 in the sale right now. They go under bump, but they look great for after pregnancy too.

I can't get anywhere near my toe nails, or a salon at the moment, so have to put up with dh cutting my nails. He's not as careful as I'd like, but beggars can't be choosers!

Poor DS is really struggling to sleep in this heat, he has an attic room with tiny window.

stac14 · 23/05/2010 16:10

hey ladies, we seem to be all struggling with this heat. I was at asda and loads of people kept saying what a shame it was for me lol. Regarding the linen trousers i got mine for £10 in the next clearance you can buy them online too. Not really caught up with the thread as i'm on my phone. Hows everyone today? X

viksam · 23/05/2010 17:41

Gracie I think its lovely that ur DH cuts ur toe nails, i asked mine the other day for a joke because I knew he would be horrified and i was right. He struggled to put ear drops down my ear and when I ask him to cream my back he slaps me around like a piece of meat, he just hates doing anything like that.

Stac at least we are not massive pregos, its funny that people feel sorry for us, im loving the heat, but may change my mind tomorrow when Im back at work!

DH just blew up my big ball and the dog is scared of it! bless. Im not exactly sure what to do with it now though, i'll have to have a look at the instructions.
I have just had like a jumping in my belly every couple of seconds or so for ages like 5 mins, could that have been hiccups??
Whats everyone else been doing today? We are about to fire up the barbie again, burgers for tea two nights in a row, naughty that is!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/05/2010 18:15

Hello everyone,

Im home from the BBQ at my mums, had a really good day. Was quite cautious of what I ate, I cooked some burgers in the oven then brought them outside as I dont really trust BBQs. Sat in the sun and played with my niece and nephews and my sister and DP joined in.

viksam my LO gets hiccups almost every day! It does sound like hiccups to me, he gets them really low down over towards the right hand side as this is where his head is so makes sense really! It can get annoying but shouldnt complain at least I know hes practising to breathe

viksam · 23/05/2010 18:26

DH Sounds like u had a nice day! I recon it must have been hiccups, as you say low down but mine were on the left, Ahhhh how amazing.

DH asked a question the other day, does the baby cough up amniotic fluid when its born as its breathing it in? Is that a really stupid question? I said i didnt think so but the more i thought about it the more i wondered.

Why is there always some noisy bugger doing something with some noisy power tool to disturb the quiet?

kkfairybrains · 23/05/2010 18:43

evening ladies! just came in from dp's mums house we were there all day.and i got scorched! really burnt but it'l be fine.got some aloe vera so i'll slap that on tonight! going to friends house now for a salad and maybe couple of drinks after!
dh i had to laugh when i read about you doing your toenails! i was doing mine this morning and ya'd wanna see the state of my toes! dp was in stitches laughing whwn he seen them cos i couldnt reach so i was literally lunging forward for a second and it was like a lucky strike if i actually got my toe! lol! so i've got nearly 10 fully red toes!
thanks for the advise on the linen trousers!.we haven't got peacocks here unfortunately!might take a trip up the north tomorrow as the border only half hour from me and they have asda, next and new look so im bound to find something in one of them! thats if i can be bothered tomorrow!

Jojobil · 23/05/2010 19:04

Hi Girls
KK that's funny about your toes. I was struggling with mine too. But somehow managed with the Bourjois bleu violet I would not trust my DH with my toes! His ones are always a state!

We went to see friends for lunch and I sat in a huge chair in the shadow in their orchard. It was lovely. DD run around for hours and played with her friends. And DH took advantage of me driving him back and had a few beers. I did start falling asleep after 4 hours so we headed back. But the weather is just unbelievable. Not looking forward to the school drop off tomorrow though!

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/05/2010 19:07

viksam yeah it was a lovely day, remembered to take my camera and actually use it so got some nice pics up on facebook too!
Omg funny you should say about noisy buggers, my mum said she was sitting in her garden this morning and a man with a mini digger started making a racket on the other side of the fence so my dad went out there and told him to move and he did!
Why do they think on a lovely sunny Sunday that no one will mind them making such a horrid noise?!

kk LOL thats so funny about you lunging forward! I must admit that even though I can reach them its very uncomfy and have to lounge back on the sofa after doing them to give my tummy a rest! My nail varnish is dark pink
Also re white linen trousers, H&M have maternity ones, thats where I got mine from, they have full length ones and 3/4 length ones, both under the bump. They also have the same but in black too.

stac14 · 23/05/2010 19:49

viksam think people think i due as my tum is quite low, maybe why they keep feeling sorry for me lol

Just had a gorgeous salad and tbh would love to go lie down now haha.

dh totally understand why you were cautious at bbq, i was at one the other week but the burgers were on for ages and it was a gas bbq they were fab.

kk sounds like a nice evening, i was having a small refreshment yesterday but it wasnt meant to be as 2 glasses fell over lol

Going to ikea tomorrow to get babys storage and cot bed should arrive too. Anyone up to much? X

I have poxy work tomorrow. I have sooooooo enjoyed the last four days. I really dont want to go back. I like my job but just seriously cannot be bothered to do it any more. I'll probably kick myself in the future for not making the most of my last few weeks of working but i do wish i could give up now.
We brought the paint for the LO room today, its crown moonlight bay, i hope its nice i didnt get a tester.........
Everyone sounds like they have had a nice day, the weather make such a differance to everything, including state of mind.

memphis83 · 23/05/2010 21:09

viksam my LO get hiccups all the time, i used to get them everytime i ate bread b4 i got pregnant but havent had them once since so maybe i paseed it on to him, if it was hiccups then there would be like a beat. what you were saying about the fluid from babys lungs when born normally the birthing process clears lungs but when its a c section they normally need their airways clearing at least i think thats whet i read in my book
everyone sounds like they've had a fab day weve only just eaten as when we got in at 7 my sil visited!!
reading about noisy neighbours we were those annoying people for an hour today but i made dh wait til lunch, he really doesnt understand normal people lie in on a sunday!!
i only have one pair of linen trousers and one dress i dont know what else i could wear in this heat that would fit!!!

Wonderstuff · 23/05/2010 22:02

Hi all, haven't been here since Tues, took me ages to catch up!
viksam am totally with you about work, I love my job and normally am quite happy to go, but just dreading it tomorrow, can't be bothered at all, 4 weeks left...

Had a lovely weekend, was my birthday yesterday and dh spoilt me rotten all weekend, dd did a fab job of helping me unwrap all my pressies, got a lovely new top from my mum a fab little digi camera from my dad, loads of books to read while I'm on mat leave, mum had dd last night and so had lovely lie in this morning - been really happy all weekend which is so cool because I've been a miserable cow for weeks.

I'm loving this weather, people keep saying 'poor you' but I'll take this over cold and rain any day. Poor dd was a bit hot and grumpy and didn't nap which was a shame.

Baby seems to be in a really odd position, kicking the hell out of my tummy button, which has resulted in soo many stretch marks, then from time to time seems to stretch out across my tummy which is a bit painful. He generally seems to be much more active than dd was, she used to stay in vaguly the same position and kick under my ribs - my mw says second babies generally do as they please - goodness knows what state my tummy will be in once this is over, looks like a scene from Alien atm.

Started on my bag - got as far as buying a bumper pack of maternity pads from Mothercare, dd was with us and got so over excited running around that we had to leave quite quickly - still on the look out for wrap around vests - let me know if anyone sees any.

Jojobil · 23/05/2010 22:14

Green baby does lovely organic wrap around vests. Just got some today at a local organic food shop...

kkfairybrains · 23/05/2010 23:01

happy birthday wonder! glad you had a nice weekend!
agree that everyone seems in top form! amazing what a bit of sun can do for us! well im just home for the night went to friends for big salad then we went to the pub and i had 1 drink and lefp dp there! he's gone into town for a little while so that gives me time to stretch out in the bed and have the laptop all to myself!!
forgot to say we got the last of the stuff today before baby arrives! mattress for moses basket and crib and sheets for both.thats all we'l be getting now as everything alse can wait til after. just need to get landlord to get house sorted and get the jobs done that need doing and then we'r good to go!lets hope this weather stays for a while longer!

stac14 · 23/05/2010 23:56

happy birthday wonder sounds like you had a lovely bday

Think your all so right bout the weather making a difference to how we feel. Have had loads of laughs but have had a moan at dp cos the silly bugger got sun stroke, typical guy who's fine etc is now paying for it lol. Its so nice to think of lo's in their prams on a nice day can't wait x

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/05/2010 09:05

Happy birthday wonder! I agree with you, people keep saying 'poor you, must be awful in this weather!' but I MUCH prefer to have this sunshine than rain and miserable grey sky. LO seems to love the sunshine, he kicks loads when I sit out in it

Its going to another wonderful sunny hot day here again, unfortunately though DP is at work and so is every member of my family so I think I might go to my mums and make use of her garden. Theres no way Im staying in my boiling hot flat all day.

Hope everyone has a good day today

kapars · 24/05/2010 10:11

Wow another lovely day here! Glad you have all been enjoying the sunshine.
We had our NCT antenatal class all day saturday which was really informative and all the people seemed nice. My dh said he feels a lot clearer about the labour etc now so that's good.
Scarily one of the couples wasn't there because they already had their baby!! seven weeks early - so that is a wake up call to get ready. the baby is fine though still in hospital.

Happy birthday wonder!

On the iCandy - yes we really like the sweet pea too but decided on the black jack - we were torn between the two. John Lewis has written back after my long complaint email and offered us vouchers to apologise and have said it will be there in three weeks!! so still cutting it fine. we will get the sweet pea at this other shop if it doesn't get here by then.

My LO hiccups all the time too.
I agree with you all about work. I am working from home and am usually supermotivated but now I can't be bothered any more. I feel like just lounging around and reading and watching fun things on telly.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/05/2010 10:43

happy birthday wonder! Hope you've been spoilt

Sorry for absence again ladies, trying to get loads of jobs done in the house now in the vague hope that baby might be early! If not at least I've got things prepared...

I'm enjoying the sun while it lasts...from a distance though since i'm sat on my sofa with my fat feet and cankles up in the air. I'll be outside all afternoon with dd when she's home from pre school and right now I want my feet up with a nice breeze coming through. It's going to rain later this week rubbish...

I did promise my completely bonkers hospital bag list didn't I? I'll put it on a seperate message so I don't break MN. It's virtually packed now, couple of bits to add but otherwise it's all there.

Baby toys are washed now, can't believe how much we have! Clothes I did ages ago, pram is ready....all I need to do is order the new mattress for the cotbed when dh gets paid.

Is anyone going to use a swaddle blanket? I'm considering it this time but not sure if it's just a gimick?

Have had a quick catch-up and hopefully haven't missed anything drastic!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/05/2010 10:51

ok, hope this works...would love to see what other ppl are taking too. I've decided to take my v shaped pillow instead of a normal one since I can sleep on that and sit on it should I need to

I was wondering how people are packing? I too seperate bags last time but wondering if it's easier to take a big suitecase with the seperate bags inside it? Make it easier for moving between delivery and ward...

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/05/2010 11:05

Wow wwsw thats extremely organised, I feel like Im not taking enough now, I hadnt even thought about anything for DP lol!

Basically everything you listed on your labour and post labour bags Ive got written down but there are alot of things I havent thought of that you've got on your list.

I havent bought anything for my hosp bag yet, I still feel like Ive got loads of time, I was going to start getting a couple of things a week but havent started yet!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/05/2010 13:06

lol dh I'm just an obsessive list maker, if I have a list I feel all organised and happy. There's possibly something freudian in that! My DH isn't too worried about himself but a pair of boxers and a t shirt doesn't take up much room at all and if it is a long or messy labour then he can make himself feel a bit better, particularly if the weather is like this

I've got it all laid out in the cot and it doesn't look too much at all - all the toiletries are travel sizes but the bulky things like my radio/cd player just make us look ridiculous going in! It was a godsend last time, even though dd was very quick, we were in the kangaroo care room with no windows and tv with very dodgy signal and then had a 5 hour wait for theatre. I would have lost the plot without my soothing music

I'd rather take too much with me, though. I know you can get sweets/drinks etc in the hospital but with dd I didn't want DH to leave me at all and was in no state to wander the corridors! If I don't have to worry about myself then I can put all my energies into the new baby.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/05/2010 13:06

oh forgot, the extra stay bag obviously stays at home initially

WickedWitchSouthWest · 24/05/2010 13:07

god I'm stupid, and I'm taking 10 disposable nappies, not 2!

Jojobil · 24/05/2010 13:21

Hi Girls! I prefer less then more My hospital bag is all packed apart from a stretchy dress to go back home in and slippers, oh and toiletries! This is my list:
