Hi ladies

Ive had a lovely day, sat in my mums garden with my mum, sister and nephew and had lunch then went for a walk with my mum. I wore my white linen trousers today which are very cool in this weather.

memphis yeah i went through last months mag and saw that this months act came out on the 19th so am going to pick it up tomorrow when I go shopping.

vik there's nothing in this months mag especially but Ive been reading the mag since about Jan and its a really good mag I recommend it!

Hello all

SUCH a busy week. I was just trying to catch up with people's posts, but it wasn't going to happen.

My colleague has been off this week, so I've been working silly hours covering both of our shows, plus my best mate is over from NY, so I was out on the town with her on Wednesday - didn't get back 'til 1am, and am about to head off out with her again tonight. Crazy times.

You guys are making me worry about hospital bags. My last business trip isn't until July 5th, so even if i did pack my bag I'd have to unpack it again when I go away, so I wasn't even going to think about it until then. I also have nothing to put it in yet! Maybe I should start thinking about maternity pads and nursing bras and babygrows and the like. But it still all seems SUCH a long way off.

The curtains for the nursery finally arrived yesterday, which means we can finally choose paints and think about decorating the room, but I'm away now for the next four weekends, so hell knows when I'm actually going to get around to doing it...

I'm starting to wonder if I'm in denial.

Gracie123 · 21/05/2010 20:58

Ooooooh!! Maternity pads!!! Has anyone actually seen these mythical things?

We ended up using super large sanitary pads when I had DS, after poor DH had spent the best part of a week searching various stores on his way home from work (I couldn't drive and we live in the middle of nowhere).

I have searched superstores like asda and tesco and even boots, but they never seem to have any. Where do you get them from? Is there any difference between them and a large sani pad?

stac14 · 22/05/2010 02:29

i got some slim ones from tesco and the fatter ones from asda apparantly its to do with the lochia (sp) and the way these pads absorb it. I also found maternity bed pads in tesco today to protect your bed, i'm going to get more of these. Hope that helps gracie

Sounds like a lovely day dh did you get your linen trousers from next clearance? Mine were £10

anifers have a fab time with your friend. Hope works not to hectic x

Morning all,

stac no I got mine from H&M, they are the ones Im wearing in my most recent bump pic.

Something shocking happened to me last night, was lying in bed talking to DP laying on my right side, rolled onto my back to have some water and my right arm was wet! I was like wtf...there was also a little wet spot on the bed right next to DP and also some on his side. I was very confused and he suddenly said "is your nipple leaking?" turned out it was! Only from the right nipple though, Ive never had this before it was quite a shock.

morning ladies, lovely day here i may even put a dress on for 1st time in pregnancy!!!! on subject of hospital bag dh is getting very nervous as i havent done it just put the bits ive bought in it, he said hes going to take me shopping for some pj's for my bag and i need to wash baby clothes and blankets but i want to wait til i go to my mums to use her tumble dryer to keep blankets soft!!!
was up at half 4 again my legs are so restless i cried, dh was rubbing my legs and got me some pain relief and finally fell back asleep at 6!!
whats everyone up to today, my nephew is coming to service my car i want it all checked and new tyres etc b4 LO arrives so its 100%safe !
dh nipple leakage!! ive still not had this im dreading when it happens, ive got breast pads ready though!!

Anifersgirl · 22/05/2010 09:37

Yup mylifeischaotic, I'm due on the 26th, so still 9 weeks - plenty of time... And now I have TWO items of baby clothes as my lovely pal from NY gave me a really groovy Brooklyn babygrow and also the most beautiful book called On The Night You Were Born.

Another silly night last night. Ended up at Paramount which is the club at the top of Centre Point. I was demanding that the barman invent new mocktails for me: the non-alcoholic mojito was a winner!

Got back at half one, but then my grind and I sat up chatting until way past 2 - she's still on New York time..

Another crazy weekend - taking chum to lunch in the village pub before waving her goodbye And sending her back to NY (sniff) then driving back up to Suffolk to take parents to dinner and to see Robin Hood, then tomorrow is little half brother in law's confirmation. All this means very likely seeing lots of ghosts from my past who haven't seen me pregnant (or didn't even know) so I'm having a vain panic about the need to look like the ultimate yummy mummy.

Anyone else a secretly vain mum-to-be?

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/05/2010 09:42

memphis its pretty shocking when it happens the first time, I wasnt expecting it at all! I suppose its a good sign though it means my boobs work, well the right one anyway!

DP and I have to do the food shopping this morning (fun fun) then after lunch we are going to take a trip to babies r us as Ive got a £10 voucher but no idea what to buy yet. Will have a look round and see what we need/want.

Its really misty here at the mo! Not impressed at all, they said the sun will burn the mist off but it hasnt yet. Fingers crossed for a sunny day

What a lovely day here today - DS and I are staying the weekend at my parents' so they've taken him to run round the park while I laze in the garden!

Sounds like people are really well prepared with bags for hospital - I haven't thought about it at all (oops) and am yet to buy anything new for the baby. All of DS' baby clothes are up in the loft so I ought to dig those out and give them a wash I guess (the neutral colour ones anyway). Need to buy a crib too as DS still uses his cotbed.

But for now I'll just lie in the sun I think

kkfairybrains · 22/05/2010 11:41

stac i didnt get any trousers . went in to dunnes stores (dunno if u have this in uk) and tried on a pair in there that weren't maternity and there was no doing them up and i wasnt buying a bigger size cos they'd be too big everywhere except my belly! dont particularly want to but maternity trousers as i have a good few already but no light ones and i've only 6 weeks to go so seems a bit of a waste.but then if this weather keeps up i'l get loads of wear out of them so maybe i might buy some today providing they're not mad expensive!
dh oh my god thats so funny!!!!!! dreading this happening to me! ha ha!
anifers you seem like you have endless energy! pass some this way will ya?! have to admit i feel when im seeing people who wouldnt see me that often i always make an extra effort to look my best! and i love when people say how well i look! when i was in town yest i seen an ex of dp's and kept dodging her so she wouldnt see me cos i looked like crap and she hasn't seen me preg yet so didnt want her thinking i look horrendous!LOL!
memphis i didnt bother washing baby's stuff.does that make me a bad mummy?! i figured im not gonna wash every single outfit before baby wears it so whats the point! was gonna do it but changed my mind.
gorgeous day again! heat near killing me though!

memphis83 · 22/05/2010 14:05

kk think im only going to wash vests and blankets just to soften them, i got my maternity linen trousers from next for £20 they have the side panels that stretch rather than the tummy band so i figure i could still wear them for rest of summer
we finally have to sun out its been warm all week but cloudy, weve just been to butbase and framework to build a new big shed and it was £200 still got to buy padlocks, alarm and the actuall sides and doors for it so weve got a lot more to buy, i just keep thinking tht could have bought me a camcorder

Well the weather did eventually get better but not really warm til about 3pm!

DP and I went to babies r us and I got a blanket and teething dummy thingy and used my £10 voucher so only had to pay £2

Looking forward to tomorrow, having a BBQ at my mums with all the family.

viksam · 22/05/2010 20:46

Mylife I do have to agree there, they have been through so many hands you really never know where they have been, i plan to wash everything, but thats probably my OCD coming through, I am a bit of a cleaning freak!

DH The way you wrote about ur leakage was LOL, not had this experience yet, i wonder if you squashed it out if you were lying on that side, hope it doesnt happen whilst we are out or at work or something!!

KK I got my linen trousers from Peacocks, Do u have them there? They were £16 and they will do for how long we have left.

Anifers Hospital bag is the last thing on my mind to be honest......somewhere for the LO to sleep is my first priority, if this baby comes early i will be in such trouble as im soooo not ready. 21st of June is the date im looking to have all the work finished, i have booked my carpet and Sofa to be cleaned that day, (on my birthday!!)and after that i can start doing hospital bags and washing of baby clothes etc as I will be off work then too.
I hope thats not too late, EDD 15th, do people think thats too late??

Had friends over to stay last night and they told us she is 10 wks pregnant, clearly she is worried that something horrid might happen, you would think i would have known what to say to make her feel better but i really didnt. Its such a horrid time, she has 2 weeks untill her scan and is very nervous, god, i think we can all relate, i feel soooo much more relaxed now, I wouldnt like to go back to that stage for any money. I love my bump and I feel realy happy at the moment. Hope everyone is enjoying the amazing weather.

Hee hee! I started a thread that's in discussions of the day

And DH found a tick in our garden Anyone know how to get rid of ticks?

Hope everyone had a lovely day, I'm going to catch up tomorrow cos right now I need to go to bed.

DesperateHousewife21 · 22/05/2010 21:53

viksam haha yeah it was quite funny after I realised what it was. Think I did squash it out as it was the side I was laying on, although I do think that nipple works better than the other one anyway, it seems to respond to touch better IYSWIM!

mlic I know I was really annoyed, all morning it was grey and misty and COLD! Only really started to warm up by about 3pm. Ive looked at forecast for tomorrow and its supposed to be better. Its unusual as I live in the far south east so we are usually lucky with the weather.

memphis83 · 23/05/2010 08:24

viksam ive had my hospital bag almost done since 30 weeks apart from a few bits i still need to get, which i was glad i did as i ended up in hospital and took it in otherwise i would have had nothing, i worry that if my bag isnt done dh would struggle to find things as its a stressful time for him 2. and i know i will be stressing if i didnt have the things i wanted!
sun is shining and doors are all open already, dh is out building the shed again, had to remind him not to hammer at 7am it is sunday after all he thinks everyone is up early at weekends!!
my hayfever is awful already, mums taking me to boots at 10 to see what they can give me as my normal tablets are suitable while pregnant!!
hope you all have a great day in the sunshine!!

viksam · 23/05/2010 09:07

mylife I think LO will be in our room but not for long and I also want to be able to put lo down in the cot for naps in the day to. Iwant the room done so all the stuff piled up in the corner of the other bedroom finally has a home to go to, just feel like i have everything piled up everywhere!!
Memphis I guess im quite layed back about the hospital bag but i hear what you are saying and it probably wouldnt be a bad idea to get some stuff together. I go away quite often with work and back and forth to Brum so have a wash bag ready to go at short notice, but other stuff wouldn't go a miss. Just feel like I have a lot going on at the moment but it really wouldnt hurt would it.

My god its boiling already, gota decide what we shall do today, beach i think!! Have a great sunday everyone xx

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/05/2010 09:29

Morning everyone,

Im just about to attempt to pain my toenails as I will be wearing sandals today and want my toes looking nice. Ive just managed to cut them with only a bit of difficulty. I noticed though that are really brittle and when I cut them they were just breaking up I drink alot of milk and eat yoghurts etc so thought I was doing ok on the calcium front but obv not!

DP and I are going to my mums today for a BBQ which Im looking forward to might even wear a dress!

memphis83 · 23/05/2010 09:52

dh i cant get to my toenails! i feel like when my knees are that far up my lungs wont fill with air so i got my mum to give me a lovely pedicure!! booked myself in for a pedi and manicure in 3 weeks for friends wedding then they will look nice when i give birth!! yes im still deluded enough to think when i give birth i will care about my toenails!!!
viksam wish i was as laid back as you but at least your washbag is ready to go, you hear of some mums taking loads in but my bag is tiny and the LO's is just a small changing bag, im doing the same having baby in our room at 1st but when sleeping in the day he will go in the cot, our room is above kitchen so its too noisy but his room is about sitting room so he will get peace!!

viksam · 23/05/2010 09:53

DH you have a fab day for it, really hope u have a good time. Its always so nice to have something to dress up for. Enjoy yourself xxx

viksam · 23/05/2010 09:55

memphis I think the same about wanting nice toe nails when i give birth, thats made me laugh that u think the same, oh well we will be deluded together!! hehe. I live 5 mins away from the hospital thats probably why im so laid back coz i know its all just down the road!
