Thanks becky and firerise

memphis I like that name, my mum didnt really like the name Dylan when I first said it and not sure shes 100% convinced now but over time when it becomes the norm she cant really say anything, anyway its my baby not hers!

stac I always wanted a middle name, it was just choosing one which sounded right and this does. For some reason my internet is being REALLY slow on this site tonight so I will keep trying to open your profile page and see your pic! Im sure its lovely, no need to be embarrassed

Ive just had lunch at DP's dad's house and I am SO stuffed! I feel ready to pop, even LO got hiccups afterwards lol.

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/05/2010 20:51

Sorry that was meant to say dinner at DP's dad's house.

stac yay I finally got the page open, your bump is lovely! Thanks very much for braving it and putting the photo up. I will be posting another soon haha!

Thanks mlic before DP and I knew the gender we found it hard to decide on a boys name but had loads of girls names chosen! Lois Emily is really really nice, I love the name Lois.

beckyg123 · 16/05/2010 20:53

ok- it had to happen to me... just had a coughing fit, ended up being sick and wetting myself all at the same time! then sat in a heap on bathroom floor crying! I would laugh if it happened to someone else!

I think William is great (but I'm biased as it's ds name!!!)

little stressed. We got gazumped on a our house (despite having paid the builder a £250 reservation fee - which fortunately he has agreed to refund) then I started bleeding last night. Not too bad and Lo is still moving etc... I see doctor on Tuesday anyway, so I'll chat with her about it then.

I haven't been driving for ages and live in the middle of nowhere, so I feel your pain.

At least we do have somewhere to go. The job we are moving too has agreed to give us accommodation, so we'll just have to live there for a year.
Really disappointing though because
i) I was really looking forward to being in our own house and finally out of staff accommodation
ii) we have no idea what this house will look like/how big it will be, and won't see it until we move in on the 16th of July
iii) living on site will mean that DH is on call 24 hours a day, which he has been for the last 3 years, and it's seriously limiting to your social life!!! Plus he'll have to start work at 6am four days a week (instead of the usual 8.30am when off site staff come in). Not looking forward to those pre-6am alarm beepings when we have a new born, who will very possibly be in our bedroom if there isn't a spare one...

Still on the plus side we don't have to pay any council tax/bills etc...

Spirael · 17/05/2010 10:12

Morning all! Gosh you've been chatty over the weekend. I was wondering if this topic would last until we had our first birth, but I'm thinking now that's unlikely. Oh well! We'll just have to make another when the time comes.

After some of you saying your LOs were active when things were noisy, I was starting to get a little worried that mine seems not to react to loud noises. I even went on a fire marshal training course a week or two ago and was setting off CO2 extinguishers, and LO didn't budge an inch! However over the weekend I was playing Lost Odyssey on the XBox360 and during the noisier cut-scenes, LO was all over the place. So I guess I can stop fretting now!

I suspect I'll probably get a few cute outfits for LO donated from family members and friends, Anifersgirl. The main thing I've stocked up on is some little white vest-suits, so that LO has something to wear underneath the cute outfits! Since I get the feeling that's not something too likely to be given.

Eggybread sounds nice... But my breakfast of choice over the weekend was homemade waffles. I've fallen in love with a new recipe that DH and I discovered. The waffles were so deliciously fluffy! ... I ate 4.5 of them yesterday. Such a piggy!

The cakes all sound good too! I made some cinnamon buns last week and they were delicious, I might make some more for when my parents visit in a few weeks! I love baking, I find it really fun and relaxing. I might make something tonight while my DH is studying. Means I can keep him company without being distracting, and when he's done he gets the reward of a tasty treat from the oven!

You have my sympathies, becky. That can't have been a pleasant experience! At least it sounds like you were at home, however? I keep having nightmares about wetting myself at work... Means I use the bathroom pretty much every hour, just to make sure it doesn't happen! Been close more times than I care to confess, however. Isn't pregnancy lovely?

I'm getting suspicious about my milk too... I keep noticing what can only be delightfully described as 'crud' on my nipples, though it's yet to leave any marks in my bra. I'm ready though - the first indication of leaking and I have the breast pads on standby!

Not much else to report here... My MW phoned me at the end of last week to inform me my iron levels are a touch on the low side (though I'm not anaemic - phewf!) and she's getting me a prescription for iron tablets that I need to pick up at some point this week.

I'd finally reached a point where I was eating enough fruit to keep everything moving inside quite nicely - and now I get the feeling it'll be like treacle again. Baaah... Oh well, at least it'll hopefully give me some energy back, I have been struggling for the last week or so.

Just over 6 weeks to go, until the earliest they'll let me have my homebirth at 37 weeks. That should be plenty of time to nudge the iron levels up, right? I've doubled my intake of spatone until I can get the prescription, then I'll take the course of iron and see what happens.

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/05/2010 10:47

stac I guess as long as your LO has a first name thats all that matters, middle names are either traditional/family ones or if you just fancy one! I dont think my bump has changed all that much over the past few weeks but Ill put one up tomorrow and you can tell me

Its sunny here today but I dont really have any plans, I might go into town a bit later.

LO is moving from side to side in my tummy and it feels really weird! Hes been very active these past few days but Im def not complaining!

Anifersgirl · 17/05/2010 13:37

memphis - Always have to have lots of brown sauce with the eggybread!

And thanks wonder for the reassurance - I'll feel so much better tomorrow when i've had the injection.

Chulita and memphis that must be frustrating not being able to drive. I'm still bombing along the M4 into work every day - I'd be buggered if I had to stop driving!

Spireal - I've been calling that stuff on my nipples 'nipple cheese' - it's been there for a while now. I'm half thinking about having a spare top at work, just incase of a leaky disaster.

I'm a bit knackered today, after a very late night last night. I'd had 'surprise' in the calendar for a couple of months - something DH had organised, I hadn't got that excited, as it's hard when you don't know what to get excited about but it turned out to be tickets for Flight of the Conchord's only London show at the Hammersmith Apollo! Such an amazing surprise and utterly hilarious. LO did kung-fu dancing throughout, making me leap out of my seat on more than one occasion

i've had some dried in 'stuff' on my nipples but wasnt sure if it was milk or not as it wasn't on my bra.
tsc i actually cried laughing at that story! hope you got over it ok and managed to get back to aquanatal class!
dh dylan james is lovely! i'm wavering a bit on our boys name now cos we've had so many negative comments about it (sonny). it wouldn't be a name that would be used in ireland at all and people have said its a ridiculous name! . people just hate anything different. so now we'r thinking he might hate it (if its a boy) so we were thinkin Ryan.what does everyone think of this? or has anyone any suggestions of lovely boys names? i find boys names so hard and our girls name is definate.

memphis83 · 17/05/2010 15:46

im still laughing at nipple cheese and crud, i havent had the joys of this yet, my friends nips leaked from 18 weeks and then when her baby was born it was tongue tied so she couldnt breast feed, although i did catch myself in mirror last night, my boobs look so veiny its like a toddler has gone mad with a blue biro its gross!!!
kk love the name sonny! my nephew is called ryan and although he likes it he wishes he had an unusual name, he recently found out my sis wanted to call him keanu and everyone said it was awful and chose ryan to be normal and hes gutted he really like the name keanu!
stac i like both those names, brogan is unusual and lovely!
becky poor you all these things no one warns us about b4 we get pregnant, i got up in night over weekend and sat on toilet in dark, LO was moving like mad and my belly was all tight a could hear dripping so i turned light on and it was like a fountain spraying on the floor rather than down toilet, i was mortified
dont know how women carry multiples my tummy is so hard and tight cant imagine it growing anymore but im sure it will!!

Chulita · 17/05/2010 16:00

I didn't leak with DD so I'm hoping the same happens with this one. I've packed breast pads in the hospital bag just in case but I'm crossing my fingers I don't need them.

kk you pick whatever name you want. Our boy's name isn't a popular name and we've had some odd comments but I couldn't give a rat's arse - once the baby's here you're going to be saying their name a heck of a lot, especially when they're toddlers lol! You've gotta like it, especially when it's 'Lucy don't touch, Lucy don't eat it, Lucy come here, Lucy peas don't go up noses, Lucy put the phone down' etc... Oh, and make sure it's a name you won't be embarrassed to bellow at the top of your lungs in public

Right, I've got to go and make some pastry for the chicken pie I'm making for tea. Never made a pie before and didn't realise how much effort it is... Got plenty of apple & currant muffins though, tried to tempt DD with them but she's not bothered (unsurprisingly, she's a right picky girly at the mo)

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/05/2010 16:14

tsc I also came across that swimming pool thread it was HILARIOUS! Have you been back there since?

Thanks kk my mum commented on the fact that Dylan was Welsh (we are not Welsh) but I dont think it matters really, its not like we are stiff upper class Brits or anything! I like the name Sonny if its any consolation and also like Ryan. Just to add my input Jack is also a lovely name (I know its prob over used but there is a reason for that). Or how about Finley, that is def on the up, its my nephews name. Sorry Im going off on a tangent here!

Also when DP and I got home last night from his dad's someone had parked in one of our spaces (we live in a flat which comes which 2 parking spaces so we technically own them and they are private to us) so we had to park in someone elses space for the night and there was quite an angry note on our windscreen this morning from said space owner. It really annoyed me as we had nowhere else to park and this isnt the first time its happened, how can we tell people not to park in our space, put a cone there everytime we go out??

thanks girls!yeah dh i love jack but dp doesnt! next door neighbours child is finlay so thats out too!

Chulita · 17/05/2010 16:41

DH we have one space outside our house and people are always parking in it. Drives me mad cos then I've got to try and get my pregnant self, DD and all the gubbins that toddlers come with into the house in one go. I don't park in the neighbours' spaces so it means a walk. I've started putting notes on windscreens, or if DH is there we block their car in so they can't move without asking us to move our car first. It really pisses me off cos it's blatantly obvious that it's someone's spot, and sometimes the neighbours up the road park in it We put the wheelie bin there if I'm feeling really hormonal

Waiting for DH to text saying he's on his way home so I can put the pie in the oven. We eat really early at the mo cos I've got this funny idea that DD might eat if she sees us eating...hasn't worked yet.

stac14 · 17/05/2010 16:54

kk sonny is a lovely name, look at the shit i took on the other thread for riliegh and as you said at the time feck em its your baby. Will anyone bad mouth it when the baby is here? Ryans nice too. Jack's my sons name and i still love it. When I named him it was still unusual but ronan keating called his son jack and the place went mad. For a boy we liked Aaron, Aiden,Kayden/Jayden but if i'm honest finding a boys name seemed easy as i was convinced i was having a boy lol

dh for me giving lo was difficult as i had always wanted my daughter to have my mums name as her middle name (as mum passed away) but dp's mum is old so obviously he felt the same so we decided not to have any. Poor soul would have been better with a number lol. Will shorten lo to DJ? Why dont you leave a note on the cars parking in your space, if some can do it to you, you can do it to them

memphis when i mentioned brogan to my family the other night my sis said thats horrible you cant call my niece that. But i dont care what they say anymore its our baby lol. How have you been?

tsc i near wet myself laughing there, hun hope you must have been mortified. Have you went back to class? I have been leaking colostrum too. I was on the phone the other day and my left nip just decided to squirt some out. Has your nipples been sore? Mine has since they starting leaking

anifers that sounds a lovely surprise, bet you had a fab night

spireal whats spatone?

gracie sorry bout the move hun, as you say though you'll be saving some cash. Are you still on the lookout for a house or just sticking to the staff accomodation?

Aw mlic your poor dog he must be totally fed up. My hairdresser has a boxer with a skin condition, he has special creams, stuff to bathe in and hes on tablets, it really gets to him. Are you still getting rid of them? My sil would love a boxer but dss who lives with her during the week is allergic to certain dogs.

Well i am still really sore at the moment. Does anyone know if the physio can do anything else to help? Also quite down and weepy wtf is going on lol x

OP posts:
Spirael · 17/05/2010 17:01

Spatone is an iron supplement, stac. It's reputedly easier to absorb than iron tablets and doesn't seem to cause the constipation (or coal-black stools) that iron tablets do.

It comes in little sachets that you mix with fruit juice. Tastes a bit metallic and bleh in some juices, but for some reason I actually find orange juice more paletable when it has Spatone in it.

It can be a touch expensive, but I got enough to last me pretty much the whole of pregnancy on one of Boots 'buy two get one free' deals.

I've been taking one sachet a few times a week to try and stop anaemia, since I know I'm prone to it. Apparently it wasn't enough, though! So I've upped it to two sachets per day for the last few days.

stac14 · 17/05/2010 17:07

thanks spireal was just curious.

chulita your chicken pie sounds fab. Wish i was a bit more adventurous in the kitchen, enjoy x

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 17/05/2010 17:50

chulita yeah it really drives me barmy, DP always wants to block them in, last Sat a police forensic van was parked in our spot, we thought we better leave them to it! Luckily they weren't there long so we just moved the car back. If it happens again Ive said we will just block them in.

stac I suppose not having one at all is a sensible compromise really then. No I prob wont shorten it, his name will be Dylan which is the name I love so will want to call him that.

Ive asked DP to see if the Tesco near his work have my pregnancy and birth mag as the tesco near us still have the May issue in stock and I need the June one now!

stac14 · 17/05/2010 18:01

dh the mother and baby mag june issue is out, i got it the other day x
