thanks for advice on c section, when i asked about my options they wont consider an elective until they see what state im in by week 36 so got another month b4 they will decide my fate!!
dh glad doctor put your mind at ease, i know what you mean about irrational thoughts everyday i was in hospital i was asking dh do you still think im pretty? would you cheat on me? i even questioned his relationship with girl in petrol station next to his work as he knows her name, he pointed out she has a name badge and getting petrol from her everyday for 7 years you do chat! hes going on a stag do on saturday and im already worrying, i know he would never ever do anything to upset or hurt me but thats hormones i suppose!!!

Wonderstuff · 11/05/2010 21:22

Glad they are checking you out Chulita I had a Mobywrap with dd, I loved it, never managed to bf in it mind, but am going to try to work out how this time round, reckon if this lo feeds as much as dd did it will be essential to be able to feed using the sling. Don't remember it ever getting too toasty, and was able to carry dd around comfortably for an hour or so when she was 12mo - and she has never been small

jojo glad the consultant agreed, must be a weight off.

Funny toddler quote of the day 'What is Theo's name' 'Um Theo?' 'That is right!' Gotta love her (even if she has only just gone to bed)

stac14 · 11/05/2010 23:39

Evening ladies, have had a hectic night. Decided to give myself some room in my drawers, so took all the clothes i cant wear at the mo and packed them away. Then went on a hunt for the missing pregnancy notes and still didnt find them. The dog needed a haircut (ours is a king charles spaniel) and i usually do it with sil as dp and i fight as he thinks im hurting the dog. Anywaw spent 2 and a half hours fighting with dp and dog to get it cut. I am exhausted and aching all over, bloody men, both of them lmao.

I agree regarding c-section my sil had an emergency section with my niece and was in agony but she had to force herself to get better as lo was moved to another hospital. Anyone i have asked who had an emergency then an elective said its much better. I hope so, mine is 14 july. Glad your getting yours jojo must be a weight off your mind hun.

Thats great things went well at gp dh did you tell them bout your anxiety?

memphis think i've had the same feelings as i was determined to look great going out at the weekend. But now i'm back to looking like crap lol. Think we get paranoid due to the body changes.

Hows everyone been? X

stac no i didnt say anything about that partly because I think its got better and partly because I didnt realise how awkward Id feel sitting in a docs room. Even though I have a really lovely doc they dont really speak unless you ask them a direct question!
How did it go at docs for you?

Ive got the mw today at 10:20am, fingers crossed they have my blood results back, also double fingers crossed that baby is facing the right way, I asked doc what would happen if hes not and she said Id have to go for scans and things. Thought 30 weeks is a bit early for baby not to have turned yet but there you go, rather be safe than sorry.

Spirael · 12/05/2010 09:53

Morning all! I hope the weather is as nice across the rest of the country as it seems to be here, today. By all accounts it's a bit chilly, but I'm sat in the office gazing out of the windows at blue skies and sunshine outside. Sadly I'm stuck in here all day, just looking at it! Bah... Still, only 17 more working days to go.

Having LO headbutting my bladder is definitely starting to get old, Gracie. I'll use the bathroom, then ten seconds later feel like I need to use it again as my poor bladder takes a pummelling! A gentle prod in LO's ribs seems to move things around enough to ease off the pressure though.

I've been lucky not to suffer too much from breathlessness here, unless I go for a long brisk walk into the city centre at lunch or something. I'm guessing because LO has assumed the position early and my bump has dropped a bit, I haven't got the pressure in my lungs that some people have. For the moment, at least... Since I'm on the short side and not quite 30 weeks yet, I have this suspicion that eventually I'll have both a head on my bladder and feet in my lungs... Bah!

Could the problem with your legs be caused by nighttime cramps, DesperateHousewife? If I stretch and point my toes during the night, I get horrendous cramp in my calfs. If I don't unlock the pressure pretty sharpish, then I get an achy kind of 'pulled muscle' pain in my calf for the next few days.

Also, I don't get ache in my bump particularly, but I find my hips are agony if I sleep on one side for too long. I also sometimes need my DH to help get me out of bed in the morning, as the small of my back seems to seize up. Once I'm up and moving though it immediately recovers... Weird! Anyway, I love my Dream Genii pillow too. So cozy to cuddle up to... Unfortunately, my kitty cat agrees-!

I might be a little overprepared with my baby preparations, viksam, so I wouldn't worry too much. At this rate I'll have nothing left to do during my maternity leave!

I'm sorry things are so rough for you at the moment, memphis! I hope things start improving soon and you feel a lot better!

Your labour stories really aren't very encouraging for newbies, ladies! But it's ok... I've planned everything so that I'll be sat in my birthing pool at home, sneeze and LO will just pop out without any effort. Then DH can clean everything up while I celebrate with champagne and brie.

I'm not delusional at all!

Maybe mention to the MW today that you've been feeling a bit anxious, DesperateHousewife? I doubt you'll be saying anything she hasn't heard before, and she might be able to offer some help to you.

Also, where are you feeling kicks at the moment? My LO is head down according to the appointment I had last week, and I suspected this because I was feeling all the strong kicks under my right arm, and a kind of scrabbly sensation low down near my public bone - presumably where I've been getting punched and LO is clawing at me!

Anyway, my point was that you might be able to tell for yourself, or at least make a good guess, which way your LO is facing at the moment.

Jojobil · 12/05/2010 09:53

DH it's not unti like 36 weeks and more that you have to worry about baby's position.

Strange they did not call you girls with the blood results... My MW called to say I need iron as I am a little anaemic. But I knew that already as was a veggie for a couple of years and it did not agree with me... (I did eat fish, eggs, dairy, lentils, spinach etc....)

stac14 · 12/05/2010 09:56

dh my appointment is tomorrow hun. Thats good you feel better but if it comes back speak to doc or mw. Hope you have a good mw app and lo has changed and your doc is right it is still early for him to turn. Let us know how you get on.

Bit of bad news my end, milo is going back to the vet tonight hes not looking good, think he may be getting put to sleep. He keeps being sick, cant walk about, he has no energy and his eyes are sunken into his head. Im hoping for a miracle, poor luv that he is.

How is everyone today? X

memphis83 · 12/05/2010 10:12

spireal i agree with the idea of birth for newbies, but to my list after i pop baby out im having champagne, brie, pate and runny egg and soldiers (the last one being so so sopisticated ) im getting same pain in calfs when i stetch my toes out
my bump has been low all the way along i have a long body so he has lots of stretching room but even on my 12 week scan he was head down!! he sticks his bottom out just above belly button and past few days when i lie down i feel him moving his shoulders, but my MW says the same as jojo that it doesnt matter where they are until 36 weeks just hope mine doesnt flip at the last minute!!
hardly slept last night my mind was racing, i also didnt take heartburn tablets yesterday that they gave me in hospital as i told them i didnt need them, they argued that now im on medication i will, and oh boy they were right!! hope you all have a good day today it is raining badly here today!

loving the birth plan spireal need to think what i want now lol. I may get my favourite chinese for my dinner lol.

Thanks mlic think we knew but wanted to do as much as we could before this.

Im the same if i stretch out my legs if i dont move quick enough it aches. Another tip for heartburn is to eat melon. I'm at docs tomorrow going to ask bout tabs the gaviscon is disgusting to the point i'm only eating little bits so i dont need to take it eurgh!

Didnt want to frighten any first time mums, its so easy to get caught up and forget. Sorry ladies. Everyone has different experiences. The labour was fine for me, i had an epidural lol and you know the rest thats why im having a cs. I would have loved a home birth but ds is too scared, think he thinks he'd have to do it himself lol x

OP posts:
Chulita · 12/05/2010 14:51

spirael I love your birth plan. Mine's similar in that I'm going to be in the birth pool at the hosp, calmly waft away the mw when she tells me to get out for cfc and breathe my baby out. I'll then have a massive bowl of fruit salad (had an ice cream box full of it last time and it tasted amazing!)
I've not bothered with Gaviscon, I'm chewing on Tesco's own brand indigestion tabs. Gaviscon is like drinking cold snot, bleurgh!
stac I hope the vet's isn't too horrible for you

Gracie123 · 12/05/2010 15:49

Sorry - but runny egg with soldiers??

Have I missed something? I've been having poached eggs regularly! I thought if the White was cooked it was fine? Aren't they a good source of folic acid/iron/omega 3???

Spirael · 12/05/2010 16:22

Glad people like my birth plan. Ok so it might not go exactly like that... But I figure I'll assume it's going to be that easy and when it all goes a bit differently on the day, it'll be too late to worry about it - I'll just have to go with the flow!

Red wine instead of champagne is tempting however MyLifeIsChaotic, and would go nicer with brie. Might have to rethink that one a bit.

As for eggs, I was under the impression that the risk was for salmonella, which is killed off if the egg is cooked all the way through. However, far as I'm aware all eggs with the lion stamp come from chickens vaccinated against salmonella, so should be absolutely fine!

At least I hope they are, because I was eating raw cake mix on Monday when I impulsively made some chocolate muffins. Tasted sooooo good, and LO is currently using my spleen as a trampoline, so can't have been that badly affected!

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/05/2010 16:41

Hey all,

I went to the mw earlier, LO has turned head down now anyway so all is good

She did push my bump around quite alot and quite hard to check though which was a bit uncomfortable.

My iron levels are a bit low too so I have to buy supplements again.

Not really else much to report here, how has everyone elses day been?

Me too MLIC! I was soooo strict first time round I am more relaxed now. But still follow the rules most of the time ;) No blue cheese, brie, alcohol etc.... Very rarely a not fully cooked sunny egg...

memphis83 · 12/05/2010 18:15

gracie runny egg and soldiers! whats wrong with that? i used to love them as a kid and have craved them from day i found i was pregnant!! its the egg yolks that are a no no, MW says that lion stamp eggs are safer but still too high a risk when pregnant unless obviously if they are cooked through. my MW is the most laid bake woman ever and normally says most stuff i read is rubbish but shes adamant on this one!
dh good reports from MW for you i agree with when they want to push hard on belly!when ever they grip LOs head he pushes his bottom out!!
stac the tablets doc gave me are called ranitadine i take 2 a day, forgot one last night and was in pain all night so they work a treat! good luck with vets.
spireal one thing that scuppered my perfect harmonious birth plan was when i was in hospital i was next to a girl who had been induced, she went to delivery and when she came back she gripped my arm looked my in the eyes and said it was HORRENDOUS have a epidural and it will be all ok! as hours b4 we were saying how neither of us wanted an epidural! but i totally agree with what you said about by the time in birth you realise its not how you planned/imagined it will be too late to worry!!

Gracie123 · 12/05/2010 18:27

Uh oh with the eggs! This is my second pregnancy and I ate runny eggs all through both!!
Oh well, I think I can manage to avoid them for the last few weeks ;)
first timers only people with terrible birth experiences still talk about them. I happen to know at least three women who had no pain relief (not even gas and air!) thought birth was amazing, and one of them sang for her baby through the entire labour! I asked her how she had enough breath to sing and she told me it actually helps because you have to regulate your breathng when singing, and her mw had recommended it.

stac14 · 12/05/2010 19:47

hi ladies, sorry to put a dampner on things but milo passed away while ds was cuddling him before we went to the vet. The vet said he thinks his bowel gave up due to the toxins. So a sad time our end.

Regarding eggs, i've not been too fussed but if i am having a fried egg it has to be runny. I don't remember half the things your not meant to eat, so i could have done lots of things wrong.

Thanks for the info for heartburn tablets memphis i'l ask the doc tomorrow

dh glad baby has turned hun, why do you need to buy supplements? Shouldnt they be prescribed? I take sanatogen mum to be tabs that i was taking when ttc the doc told me just to keep taking them. They have iron in them.

Hope everyones well x

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/05/2010 20:23

stac sorry to hear about your dog.

The mw asked me if I was taking supplments and I said I was but when they ran out I didnt buy anymore so she said to start buying them again. My iron is only slightly below 11 so I dont think shes overly concerned about it but said to take them and to keep eating all the time.

stac14 · 12/05/2010 20:50

its never ending with food is it dh lol. I havent even had more bloods took, they concentrate on my thyroid. But i'm sure they should be checking iron levels oh well x

memphis83 · 12/05/2010 20:53

stac so sorry about milo, my heart really does go out to you and you family, at least you have comfort that he went at home and you didnt have to make the decision to end it for him you ds must be so sad sending you hugs

stac14 · 12/05/2010 21:04

thanks memphis we are glad he went in his own surroundings, he wasnt in pain just had enough. Ds is trying to be brave we have told him its good he was with him as they were best friends. Thanks again x

HI all - sorry to hear about Milo.

Sorry I will catch up properly later, but just checking in to say I feel utterly rubbish today - keep crying, not coping well, DH says I was just like this last time, I can't remember being me anymore, just want to be abel to cope and get on with things. Need more sleep. Nothing is wrong, I'm a bit tired and a bit achy. but tiny things are setting me off. Really scared I won't be able to cope with the new baby. Goign to go have bath and bed now.
Sorry for indulgent post
