Josey am due on 31st (would be better for school I guess if lo born in September but I'd still prefer her out now!) Hope things speed up for you - and yes men should never be allowed to design houses!
Colinsmommy, good luck, they'd never do a sweep here unless you were past your due dates. Can't say I've heard of it having an impact on length of labour though, just that it doesn't always work.
Twiga good luck to you too and congratulations Kizzy - he was a good size to get out so fast!

They pretty much never do a sweep here, period, I guess, but she can't belive how I can't be in labor, so she thought she'd try it.

I don't think she thinks there will be any impact on the length of labor, but she just thinks I'm so close anything will trigger it. With DS, when things started naturally, I was just slightly over 3 hours in labor, having walked into the hospital at 8 cm. I wonder if she manages to start something "unnaturally" that my labor might be a lot longer, because I'm not that far along yet, or I'll be sitting there a long time waiting to go into labor. Or I'll go in and nothing will happen.

Eulalia · 27/08/2005 09:22

Congratulations kizzy! Wow what a big boy. My ds has only just reached 9lbs and he is 4 weeks old!

Good luck to all those still waiting - can't be too long now....

Twiga - I am looking forward to visiting you in hopsital soon. ds has his hearing test on Monday afternoon at the hospital so would be convenient ifyou could have baby this weekend. lol!

Off to get another birthday party this afternoon. ds will be passed around like a little present Hope it stays dry for the bouncy castle.

josey · 27/08/2005 10:55

well today is my due date, i thought that i was going to make it last night when i started off about 4pm was having love contractions and i could feel the begining of mild pressure only for it all to stop arghhhhhhh!! i have decided if nothing happens before my DH has to go away again on Monday i will start charging rent!!!

we all seem to be hanging on the edge its so frustrating - colinsmommy i would be in hospital getting them to give me what ever possible to kick start things properly i think i would be a reck if someone told me they could feel a hand!! i would be terrified to go anywhere.

well good luck to everyone hope im not left sitting by myself

Congratulations Kizzy, we seem to be having some big babies on this thread!!

Colinsmommy, I had a sweep before my due date and I was already dilated and I had DS2 about 18 hours later after about 7 hours of labour, might be worth a try. I agree with Josey, I'd be worried about the baby alling out.

Good luck to al those still waiting, hope things get going soon.

Twiga · 27/08/2005 20:04

Hey, still hanging on in here - mind you still a few days to due date (31st). Last nights curry had no effect but tasted great! Had a lovely but cold/wettish walk along the beach this afternoon then a very pleasant cup of tea with pals who live just up from the beach. Dh and I doing some last min sorting and tidying tonight - so much easier and fun when there's two of you.

Eulalia, would be great to have you visit at the hopital - I'll have a word with the bump and see if we can time it for Mon - no promises ! Hope you all had a lovely afternoon at the party!

Not long to go now girls!!!

Dazie · 28/08/2005 18:01

Congratulations to all those ladies who have given birth in the last few days and good luck to all those who are about to, hope all goes well!!

colinsmommy · 28/08/2005 19:35

I wasn't the last. Caitilin Elisabeth was born at 3:28 in the a.m. on the 26th after a 2 hour labor and 5 pushes. 7 lbs. 9 oz, so not as big as her brother, either. Will post more later, hopefully a pic and a birth announcement.

colinsmommy · 28/08/2005 19:51

Try that one more time. I meant the 27th.

Azure · 28/08/2005 20:14

Colinsmommy, many congratulations on the birth of Caitilin Elisabeth - sounds like an ideal labour! She shares a birthday with my DS1. Kizzy, many congratulations to you too - what a whopper! Lovely names, both of you.

Miaou · 28/08/2005 20:20

Wow, fantastic colinsmommy! Congratulations - and you were right, a fast labour.

And you named her after my dd1 too

Look forward to hearing more later!

Twiga · 29/08/2005 08:16

Congratulations Colinsmommy, love the names - what a quick labour! Did you have thesweep in the end? Son't forget to pop in (if you've time) and keep me and the tumble weeds company!!! , lol x

josey · 29/08/2005 09:30

congrats Colinsmommy wow what a quick labour and love the names.

still holding of here is that just the 3 of us left now?

I had to pack DH back to work this morning it broke my heart saying goodbye to him, im so scared i have a quick labour like before and he misses everything.

My Mum however will be staying with me as of today so wont have to do very much and at least i wont be on my own. and i wont have to suffer so much of my MIL, she was on about being impatient yesterday so i told her it was tuff it could be another 2 weeks yet much to her disgust!! My Gran also had to hide in the supermarket the other day she is deaf as a door post and all she could hear was MIL shouting at the top of her voice that there was no news but any time now blah blah my poor Gran was mortified for me.
oh well another day of waiting ahead!!

Congratulations Colinandcaitlinsmommy!! What lovely names and such a fast labour, 5 pushes, is that all!!!

colinsmommy · 29/08/2005 17:25

Nope, no sweep. I decided that the baby would come when it was ready, which was only a bit later. Posted a birth announcement and pic here

jantogan · 30/08/2005 00:44

hello all,Congratulations collinsmomy and all the other new moms.I am really glad to hear almost everybody's baby here.
I am 10 days overdue, babys very happy and no sign yet but I want to be in labour desperately.

colinsmommy · 30/08/2005 01:39

Sorry baby's taking so long to come out. Glad to hear that its happy, though.

A big thank you to whoever warned about the afterpains the 2nd time around. I accepted all the pain relief I could, and it still really hurt. Hate to think of what it would feel like if I didn't.

Eulalia · 30/08/2005 08:31

Congratulations colinsmommy - I posted on your birth annoucement.

Only 2 days left of August for the others to pop!

Got to dash to get ds to school.

Em32 · 30/08/2005 10:15

Congratulations Colinsmommy and everyone else (too tired to read everything!) Pleased to say Chloe Ava was born on 28 August. 2 1/4 hour very intense, very painful labour. Got to the hospital with 25 minutes to go! She weighed 8lb 14oz - exactly the same as her brother.

Twiga · 30/08/2005 10:52

Congratulations Em32 on wee Chloe Ava !

Think that leaves just me, jantogan and Josey to go - think I'll be sticking with this group wether I go over into Sept or not, feel at home here now. Have finished making my birth announcement cards started on the baking last night (chocolate tea bread) - today's project some ironing and bake bannana bread!

Gonna be hard to stay patient in the next few days (if it comes to that) - four txt messages and a phone call all before 9am today from people asking "have you had it" or "just phoning to see how you are" - aaaargh! And due date isn't until tomorrow.....

Hope everyone's wee ones are well!

Twiga · 31/08/2005 14:00

Someone talk to me...........due today, nothing happening, looks like it'll be a September baby?!

kate100 · 31/08/2005 14:06

Hi Twiga, how are you doing today? sending you good labour vibes, hope it's soon.

tassis · 31/08/2005 14:09

Hi twiga

just checking in on you! didn't want to phone/txt in case you're getting heaps of the "are you still there?" msgs!

hope you're not too fed up or uncomfy

keep baking - hope to smaple some soon!

Twiga · 31/08/2005 14:19

I'm fine, lots of twinges still - always exciting by the second hour, but then it all stops! Dh and I went to see an early film today figuring that was bound to kick start things.....nay luck so far! Oh just been given RL tea by dh - can you tell he's getting impatient !

Tassis, we even thought going to the board meeting last night might help - it was a long one too !
