Congrats Beachyhead.

Wow what a night weather wise, the wind here is just silly, luckily though the ferries for Mum are still sailing (just incase)Im not looking forward to walking to school with DS this morning

DH is is in Aberdeen still working and he got bloked in at the B & B carpark where he is staying so that has him in a panic for future nights - the lady who runs it knows the situation though and has been very kind and caught hold of him this morning and told him where he can park and she will keep an eye out for others parking behind him and tell them too move.

I have the clinic again today, not looking forward to going cause I know i wont get any nice news like oh your going to have your baby any second - oh well at least i will get more gaviscone!!! my new best friend

Congratulations Beachyhead - I like the names
Glad there are still some others out there. I've got an antenatal appointment this morning. I really wish they did an internal exam here though, as I'd like to know how I'm getting on. I feel like I'm about to burst. No idea how I'm going to cope with ds for the next two days, I'm exhausted (still don't suppose that is going to get any better is it )

josey · 24/08/2005 09:24

em 32 i know the feeling I could just sleep all day. DS told me yesterday morning that my tummy was roasting the baby was cooked and i must be going to pop!!! who he got that from i havent a clue, but if a 5 year old thinks im fit to pop I dont have much hope!!! good luck iwth your appointment.

Hi Josey and Em, hope your appointments go well.

I've never posted this early before (almost 2 am here my time) Just can't sleep, am up and wandering around for no reason. Way too hot in the house.

Twiga-I wouldn't wish 10 days over on anyone. Hope the baby comes soon.

wilbur · 24/08/2005 10:43

Hi everyone and congrats beachyhead - hope all went well at St Thomas' for you, love the names for your new dd.

Good luck to everyone still waiting! Sending you all positive thoughts for speedy straightforward arrivals!

Caspar is doing really well, still a mellow little soul and putting on weight well, so that's great. I just got some photos of him that the midwife took seconds after he was born and they are just amazing. I wish I could post them online but I have no scanner, maybe at some point I will work out how to get them up here.

Em32 · 24/08/2005 11:21

Hi Josey and Colinsmommy
Appointment was ok but my b/p has gone up to 133/89 and I have to go back next week to have it checked again (that is if I'm not in labour by then) Plus I've just had a call from nursery to say my son's temperature is going up and I might have to go and fetch him. I'm really tired as he was up in the night with his teeth, poor thing. Pleeeeeeeeease let this LO come out soon, I need not to be pregnant anymore! Colinsmommy hope you get a bit more sleep soon.

Twiga · 24/08/2005 12:06

Hi all,

Colinsmommy hope you got some sleep eventually!

Josey I was sure I'd dreamt the mad weather last night - sounded like a gale blowing outside but this morning the weather is lovely and sunny - still windy though. Lady at the B&B sounds nice!

Em32 hope the bp thing doesn't become a prob and that your ds is feeling better soon.

Wilbur good to hear all is going well with you and Casper

Having a very lazy day - just up, dh on nights so thought i'd have a doze with him this morning, being up every couple of hours for one thing or another is getting wearing - looking fwd to having a bladder that lasts all night again soon!

Last ante-natal class tomorrow, was so hoping I wouldn't make it but don't think baby is listening, looking fwd to catching up with everyone. It's been so diff to what I expected - we're an unusually large class - 15 I think and the first week it was a bit intimidating meeting that many new faces, but turns out from talking to folk we all felt a bit like that - a few of us even thought about not going back! It's been great though although it's taken slightly longer to get to know people, almost a shame that things finish tomorrow as we're just finding our feet - still there are 3 reunions planned oct/nov/dec and hopefully we'll swop contact details this week.

josey · 24/08/2005 15:25

just back from the clinic bp up at 140/83 and head is right down low, midwife not worried about bp says its a sign she thinks i am about to go though of course dont get my hopes up, if i havent had anything by next week appointment, they will give me a sweep.

oh twiga its rally wild here i had to walk to the clinic and then to the school for DS i was glad of the extra weight if not i would have been blown off my feet.
DH has been very lucky in this b & b his work have put him up in, its somewhere in westhill i think! i dont know Aberdeen that well.

Beachyhead, many congratulations on Georgina Eve - lovely names. Twiga, I'm glad the furniture is almost there, even though it's not what you originally planned. The whole situation is disgraceful and is stress you really could have done without at this stage. My sympathies to all of you waiting for your LOs to arrive - hopefully not too long now.

colinsmommy · 24/08/2005 17:49

Feeling very frustrated this morning. I went into labor last night not long after I posted, but it went nowhere and fizzled out. If I was going to be up for most of the night, I might as well have had something to show for it, don't you think. The contractions were down to 5 min. apart, but am glad I decided they weren't strong enough to go to the dr. I guess that's what I get for wondering what lighter contractions feel like.

Eulalia · 24/08/2005 17:50

Congratulations beachyhead - lovely names!

Twiga - induction is only usually a problem if it is done early and baby may not want to come out. Not sure if I said but I had dd induced at 42 weeks. It was no worse than a sweep with the prostin gel being applied to my cervix. My body took over after that and did the rest. Obviously there are different stages to induction and some may require more intervention. Anyway hope it doesn't come to that.

Popping on to say that I have posted a pic of my ds - it is not him 21 hours old as I couldn't get that one to work. It was actually taken on my birthday when he was 17 days old. You can see him here - Paul

Twiga · 24/08/2005 18:00

Hi Eulalia, have posted across on your other thread - what a cutie! Good to read something non-scarey about induction, have been flicking through threads on here and not very encouraging so far - still feel unsure about it all.

kate100 · 24/08/2005 20:35

Congratulations Beachyhead, lovely names, hope that you feel better soon.

Colinsmommy, what a disappointment. Hope that it all gets going for you for real soon.

Twiga, I ha a friend who was induced at 10 dys over and she was holding her baby 4 hours later, no horror story just a nice sraight forward labour. If you go over you probably just need a nudge and the induction will get it going.

Em32 · 25/08/2005 14:16

Josey you sound in a similar position to me, will see who gets there first! Except everyone looking after me seems to ask how it went with ds (I went to 40 + 4) and then says 'oh well it might be another 10 days then'. No thanks!
Colinsmommy hope things get going for you soon. How depressing to have it start then stop again - have they checked on you since then?
Twiga good luck - don't worry about induction. My friend was induced first time and the labour was very quick but apart from that she didn't have any problems.

josey · 25/08/2005 16:55

em32 what is your due date again? i get asked the same thing i went on my LMP date with DS hoping will be the same which is saturday, i started having contractions last night for a couple of hours but i managed to get some sleep and they faded again, have had a few more today but nothing set in stone, i wish i could just have something so i can get DH home so i know for sure he wont miss it.
I got my new fridge freezer delivered today what a nightmare didnt think it was going to fit cause the space is squnit which never thought of at the time its in now just but will have to use different plug etc and that will mean moving things in the kitchen just what i need, men should never be aloud to desing houses

Having an interesting day here, woke up at 5am with back ache and stomach really tight - carried on, on and off until around 10am ish (every 25 mins or so). Went to ante-natal group and things seemed to settle a little, still getting the odd contraction (?) at the moment, feels really different to BH, stomach staying harder for longer - not sore just uncomfy, definate feeling of things pulling downwards - hard to describe really - wander if this is the start of things?!

Cot finally arrived so have been adding bedding and mobile to it - looks lovely! Just got to get the complaint stuff done, but to be honest just a relief that everything is here and ok.

Funny weather here, one min bright sun the next torrential downpour - still the garden could do with it.

Thanks for all the pos chat about inductions, have been a bit alarmed by some of the stuff I've read!

colinsmommy · 25/08/2005 18:23

Thanks for the postitive induction stories. I'm worried, too, since they won't let me go much past my due date, and my friends who've been induced have horrible stories.

Em- No I haven't gone in. I go in tomorrow morning, didn't even tell anyone at dr. what happened because nothing came of it.

Twiga- Glad your stuff made it before the baby. Hope your contractions mean exciting things.

Twiga · 26/08/2005 09:40

Think baby was just toying with us yesterday, things have quietened down again - could be playing this game for days! DH has a theory that baby knows he needs to rest for the first half of today after finishing a week of nights and things will get moving again later - always the optimist! Still got to have a shot with the TENS machine last night and it seems to work really well so at least I know what I'm doing having finally got round to reading the instructons. Hope everyone is doing well and not too fed up - not long to go!

josey · 26/08/2005 11:41

sounds like we are all the same starting and stopping.
I had a mad bout of nesting again last night i was convinced i had to get all these really daft things done cause the baby was going to be any minute.
I feel rotten today, im so cold its unreal my feet are like ice, and when i brushed my teeth this morning my mouth just started pouring with blood, it did that at the very start so im guessing its cause my hormons have increased, what ever it is its not nice.
hope everyone else are having better days.

Twiga glad your cot has arrived and you are happy with it you must be feeling a lot more relaxed and ready now.

Hi Everyone

Adam James was born sunday 21st Aug 11.53am after a very painful 1 hour 8 min labour.... weighing in at (wait for it) 10lbs 8oz. 4 day over due. what a shocker!!!!

Big Thanks to all of you the last 9 nine months.

josey · 26/08/2005 16:53

congrats Kizzy212 wow what a size and quick labour glad you are both well.

Twiga · 26/08/2005 18:14

Congratulation Kizzy212! What a quick labour, really like your choice of names, lol to you all x

colinsmommy · 26/08/2005 19:11

Congratulations, Kizzy. Glad everything went so quickly.

Just got back from the Dr. and found out I am almost 5 cm dilated, completely effaced, and the baby is so low, she felt a hand when she was in there. She said if I don't have it by tomorrow, that I will be the only person she's ever seen to do so. She said she would take me into the hospital tonight if I wanted to, and she thinks that doing a sweep (I guess they do that here in some cases) would get me started. I'm not too sure about that, as much as I want it out, I am afraid if my body doesn't start labor on its own that it will be longer than last time. So I have 6 hours to think about it and decide. We'll see.

Twiga · 26/08/2005 19:17

Colinsmommy, all sounds very exciting - lets hope this is nearly it and you don't have to hang on any longer. Will be thinking of you, lol x

Things picked up again here, back sore still not painful but very uncomfortable - if nothing else it's another step closer. Have told dh we're going nowhere until I've had my tea and pudding if this is it!

colinsmommy · 26/08/2005 19:21

Well then I hope you and I won't be on here tomorrow because we are in the hospital with our brand new babies.

Knowing me, though, I still will. Hope you have more excitement, Twiga.
