iggypiggy · 13/05/2010 13:59

tut up.

rollerbaby · 13/05/2010 14:13

Surely the odd raw prawn is ok Ski? So long as it hasn't been swimming in sewage? I can't be arsed worrying about everything anymore. In a right grump today... sleep deprivation is doing my HEAD IN. Woke up to dog diarrohea in crate which thanks be to god mr moo cleaned up.

Reg these scanners are right tits sometimes. It could be to do with the fact you needed the loo - or anything for that matter. Don't mind them.

Discovered my next door neighbour is a radiologist and has access to an ULTRASOUND machine!!!!!!!!

CurlyCasper · 13/05/2010 14:33

Jeez I hope noone saw you - and not for the embarrassment factor but more the "pregnant lady must be wrapped in cotton wool" one. I've been treated like a gentle little wummin so much at work this week [frustrated]

OP posts:
iggypiggy · 13/05/2010 14:41

cas I haz own office - shame limited to own embarrassment. If anyone had seen me I would have probably been sent to the hospital!

I am getting much tutting about offering to drive the horsebox in 2 weeks time... honestly - I drive it all the time - it's no differnent to driving a car... and goes much slower... Plus is not like will be alone... is just no other bugger can drive the thing...

I hate people fussing....

Cosmosis · 13/05/2010 15:15

Oh lord so I do. I nearly refused a seat in an hour long meeting just out of stubbornness, until I realised that was a bit silly!

CurlyCasper · 13/05/2010 15:16

iggy. Tell them all to sod off! Yesterday I had several offers of help/shocked looks as I carried an almost empty cardboard box to the car... Shut them up by thrusting it above my head weightlifter style! Later, back at the ranch, I was doing more scrubbing, lifting, shifting, hammering... I have yet to hear an utterance of complaint from SFF, he undertstands my need for independence only too well!

CUNextTuesday · 13/05/2010 21:30

Yeah I bet cas. Funnily enough Hom never offers to take a job off my hands either...

Cosmosis · 14/05/2010 08:48

Sees ya tomorrow ski!!!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 14/05/2010 09:07

'lo all - hope you had a nice bank holiday (or was it just me?) I had a lovely lazy day with boyfy and have just to work today til 5 and then hop on a train this evening to spend the weekend being spoiled by the lovely ILs.

Boxy - watch me leap into uncharted waters here: I hope it goes really well with the visit to see your horse! I can offer no further advice or input, but lots of positive vibes!

pony - enjoy the hairdresser! Is it true that pregnancy thickens up your hair? Mine certainly seems wilder anyway. I shall maintain the untamed half grown out highlights look for another little while, before tackling the situation... Sorry that you and the others won't consider freezing the platypus bag for added freshness - surely you must have plenty of room still in the placenta drawer?

honey - go go pelvic floor! We can do this thing. Yes it is hard though...

Ski - hope you have a lovely trip!!

reggie - great scan news! Yes you do have to wait for the nuchal results - because they combine them with blood results I think. The doc said to me on Monday, that if I hadn't heard from him by Friday, I could assume all was well. Hate those kind of agreements, but he specifically said not to phone him, so I suppose I must accept that all's well...Your baby is 69mm eh? Ours was 73mm (At 13+2) - so looks like they are perfectly average! Hurrah! Our photos were not great either to say the least - the doc attempted to blame me at that point for using too much cream on my stomach (amount of cream used on non-existant bump to date = 0) so you see, there's always something they'll try to reproach you with, so ignore BMI nonsense. Have a wonderful birthday and a great time springing the news on people! It's a lovely feeling!

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 14/05/2010 12:44

ski think we're organised - should be there around 12 ish.

Had a 4D scan today. Will post pics on t'other place. Bit disappointed in overall quality as most of them were clearly pictures of jellyfish but we do have a couple of really clear ones of his little face. And it's definately a "he" - no doubt about that!!!

He was waving his arms and legs around which was odd as I couldn't really feel that, but he looked pretty happy in there, if a little squashed! Estimated about 4 Lbs so a nice, average weight.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 14/05/2010 12:48

Ah Great news on the scan carrots sounds adorable! Wonderful to see everything looking good and weight shaping up well! Hope you guys have lots of fun on your meet-up!

CurlyCasper · 14/05/2010 13:13

Great news on the scan rotty I will check out the pics.

wits - jealous of your weekend of spoilage!

Well, I have just been to the MWs and despite them not saying too much I have a gut feeling something is going on...

I'm 30+2, but fundal measurement is 27, so noted as small for dates. They said this was ok because scan two weeks ago put baby slightly ahead for date. One MW then asked the other about my fluid levels - answer 5cm. I've looked that up and it appears to be at the lowest of low ends of normal No action taken for now, but watch this space... (mw in 2 weeks, consultant in 4)

Cosmosis · 14/05/2010 13:37

Swits I think that was just a euroland bh, we didn?t have one here.

Just been to Tesco and they have 1/3 off a lot of their baby stuff till 25th of May ? ie Muslins, breast pads, maternity towels, breast pumps etc.

So have bought 2 packs of muslins (so I?ll have 12 cloths is that enough?) and how many maternity towels do you need do you think?

rots I can't get on tother place even at lunchtime any more, suggest 10ish at mine?

curls sorry you think sommat may be afoot, hopefully is all fine.

OkieCokie · 14/05/2010 13:57

Afternoon all. A friend who has a little girl who will be 2 in July has just told me she is expecting twins at same time as me (naturally conceived!) Can you imagine??

Re pads cosmo I would suggest a lot. Think I bought 2 X 24 packs to start with and took 24 into hospital. I was bleeding for about 6 weeks! I then started bleeding again at 12 weeks and as I was breastfeeding this confused me so went to the doctor thinking something was wrong and she said it was probably my period coming back! I felt such a nob jockey. I naively thought breastfeeding kept them a bay, but only in 40% of cases apparently!

Great news on scans all round!

rollerbaby · 14/05/2010 14:20

Okie I think I would have to send one back... I'm not brave enough!

FannyPriceless · 14/05/2010 14:39

rots I have sent you an email.

curls Hope it's nothing too serious if there is summat up. Are you happy just to wait until the next appt to follow up?

cossie I had c-section last time but asked them - will I still have the same amount of bleeding? They said yes. It was over in less than a week and nowhere near as heavy as I'd heard it would be. Hence the jumbo supply of super large packets of pads left over are coming back with me this time.

CurlyCasper · 14/05/2010 14:56

Thanks fanny. I think I will just wait. Baby seems to be moving enough etc at the mo, so if that remains the case I shall just see what the measurements are like in two weeks' time and ask more questions then. My gut feeling is that all the measurements will drop in the coming weeks and then they'll have to do more monitoring or take action. I see other mums with low fluid have been hospitalised for bed rest - I could really do without that while I sort the new house and complete my last two weeks at work!

Just wish I had thought about what it might all mean while there. I spent my entire lunch hour trying to interpret my notes and they are a wee bit different to what was said to my face

How's the hair looking? Did the "big day out" go well?

Yeay for your friend cokehead. Hope she has plenty of energy!

OkieCokie · 14/05/2010 19:43

Curly you could always give them a call to discuss any concerns you have. I think I would, even it is just for reassurance.

SilverSky · 14/05/2010 21:04

So biatches, guess who has swanky new phone? Oui c'est moi!!!

So happy, but been too busy at work to make the best use of it.

Not much to report preggo wise except I am sleeping thru the night! No more pee wake up calls. Famous last words!!

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 14/05/2010 22:50

cas

  1. Friend had low end of normal waters, nothing done, now has healthy and gorgeous 5 year old.

  2. Nother friend had small for dates baby. Refused all treatment/interventions. Term baby born at 8 Lbs and is now healthy and gorgeous 6 month old.

However, neither were on drugs as it were. Just a couple of "that happened and it was ok" stories. You have the absolute right to know what is going on so if I were you, and I'm not (obviously), I would be asking for all the information and keep asking until you get it. I get a bit annoying for docs normally by asking questions until I really understand rather than just letting them do what they want and assume I'm not bright enough to endure an explanation but it works for me.

fanny got it but late tonight. Yes, please do send them to me and I will check email before I leave tomorrow

cos and ski seeyas! Last time there was a BESH meetup 4 or 5 of us fell. I wonder what will happen this time?!

silver I was really thirsty after a shop today and so bought 3/4 litre of diet coke and drank the lot tonight. I don't normally drink fizzy stuff so I'm a bit zoned. Anyway, point is, I can't see me sleeping through tonight - so will be thinking of you creating zzzzds while I'm peeing for the 20th time!

SilverSky · 15/05/2010 09:04

Famous last words. Woke up a 4am not to pee but cos I couldn't bloody stop sniffing. Knew I spoke too soon.

Is this weekend the Toon meet up?

CUNextTuesday · 15/05/2010 14:29

Look at this shocker - check out the stats

We grumble about the NHS but we don't know how lucky we are...

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 15/05/2010 19:22

cunty.

Did you read the ACOG statement?

"Multiple factors are responsible for the current cesarean rate, but emerging contributors include maternal choice and the rising tide of high-risk pregnancies due to maternal age, overweight, obesity and diabetes."

So it's OUR fault then? I seeeeee.

"The main goal should be a healthy and safe outcome for both mother and baby. Choosing to deliver a baby at home, however, is to place the process of giving birth over the goal of having a healthy baby."

NO! Absolutely NO! The evidence shows that homebirths from low risk pregnancies are MORE LIKELY to lead to a healthy baby and mother - physically AND psychologically than a hospital birth.

But as the original article says, in America's private medical system, midwives and obsts are in competition so for the obs, it's very important for their livelihoods that they push the MWs aside and force women into hospital.

Thank goodness for the NHS...

Backinthebox · 16/05/2010 13:28

The mortality rates in the article are shocking!
