Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Welcome to new people and shared excitement about Headlessladyh's twins! I wonder if anyone else is expecting two?! (I'm fairly sure there was only one at my early scan, even if it did look like a hamster...)

Babybean I feel the same about the scan tomorrow - it's been hard to concentrate on work all day and I wish I could fastforward the next few hours! I'm going out this evening which might help distract me, although am worrying about how I will cope with being awake after 9.30... Good luck to you and all those with scans coming up, look forward to hearing about them.

floweryogi · 27/04/2010 15:15

Hi there!

Sorry I have been so elusive lately... Love the name of the new thread!

Babybecks - I'm so sorry to hear your news - thinking of you and hope you are getting plenty of support.

We had our 12 week scan on Thursday (finally - the longest 8 weeks of my life!) and all is looking good although we have to wait about 2 weeks for the nuchal test results. It's been nice to hear other people's good news. Our date has changed though, and the little cutie is due on Halloween - can I still be part of your November gang?! Quite excited about halloween babe - cool parties to be had!

I have a question about clothes - when do people start wearing maternity gear? I quite fancy wearing some maternity vests now for teaching as they have the built in bra thing - a friend told at 5 months but I want to get into the gear sooner! I found some nice bits on Blooming Marvelous, Mamas and Papas and Isabella oliver (though pricey!).

Nice to touch base again - will try to be less elusive in the future!

have a lovely day xxxx

Ebb · 27/04/2010 16:08

Had my scan today - there's a real live, wiggling, somersaulting, arm waving baby in there! I cried all the way through the scan. I was so relieved. They've dated me at 12+3 so new edd of Nov 6th. Must of ovulated very early.

Saw the Doctor which must be a new thing at Southmead. I'm booked in for a fetal echo scan at St.Micheals between 18-22wks as Ds has an aortic stenosis and then my anomoly scan back at Southmead at the end of June. Hopefully if alls fine then I'm booked in for the delivery suite which I found a really positive experience with Ds.

I can go shopping for maternity jeans now! My regular jeans are getting a little snug and all my maternity jeans from ds are over the bump which will be too hot for summer.

Told MIL as she was looking after Ds while we had the scan and will phone my parents tonight and then probably post scan pic on FB. Will have to write and tell my friend who lost her baby as don't want her to see it on FB.

Hope everyone is well and very excited to see twins on the thread.

PJen · 27/04/2010 17:10

Hi Pidgin, I am the same person in west london! GREAT memory! I may move to another area in west london soon as we will need a bigger flat!

Babybean1 didn't your nausea stop at wk 12??? I am so hoping that mine does stop at 12+0!! lol... I am counting days to nausea stop! ha ha

Yay to all the successful scans!

Welcome to the new ladies! How exciting to have twins on the thread

I have lost the will to love today trying to sort my house out ahead of the big move in a couple of weeks. Arrgghhh!

Scan on Friday - excited and still petrified though!

Good luck to all those with scans tomorrow

x

applegirl · 27/04/2010 17:47

Hahaha - i've lost the will to LIVE, not love (well almost actually!! LOL

Babybean1 · 27/04/2010 18:05

That made me chuckle apple thanks for the well wishes - I hope so too!!

What time is your scan tommorrow pidgin? hope all goes well for you too

loopy going back to the runny nose thing, I was Reading today in my pampers pregnancy diary that came in my pack from booking app that "many women find that their nose constantly feels stuffed up during pregnancy" and apparently for tips on how to ease this visit www.pampers.com/pregnancy. Not sure if it's a ploy to get you to visit their site, but maybe worth a look if it looks like it may hang around!

Pjen the last time I was actually sick was 11+4 but still have times when I can't face certain things or reaaally need to eat to make it go away. Is def better tho so there is light at the end of the tunnel

Great news about the scan Ebb even more chance I could bump into you in the hospital now of all goes well

Sorry for posting twice, stupid iPhone said it didn't work first time!

Gaga82 · 27/04/2010 19:00

More great scan news, what a relief. I am another 7th May appointment, seems to be taking forever coming around to me, sure you other two feel the same!

On the plus side, am 11 + 0 today, and I have managed 2 days without actually being sick! Hurrah. Hoping that a corner is being turned...

Glad (in a supportive way!) to hear I am not the only one with the crazy dreams, woken up in tears a few nights recently. I was starting to wonder what was going on. Phew.

Apple, all the MS made me lose the will to live AND love - lol!! Brill typo.

Booboobedoo · 27/04/2010 19:22

Scan was AMAZING! My beautiful baby is in there wiggling away. We saw him/her sucking, trying to get thumb in mouth, stretching legs and waving.

I got a D/S risk of 1:6048 (that's the combined test result), so I'm massively relieved.

I was a bit naughty and had a Frappucino about 45 mins before the scan, and the sonographer was going mad trying to get stills as the baby was wriggling so much. Good way to get to stare at your baby for longer on the screen.

Very, very happy, and it's made me feel better about the continued nausea.

Thanks for all the sympathy re: my last pregnancy. I was frankly petrified about being pregnant again, but actually I'm feeling quite chipper. For anyone else feeling rough (especially if it's your last time) - there is light at the end of the tunnel, and it is absolutely worth it.

My EDD was moved back a day to Nov 2nd, so I'll update the list.

Hi all!

I had my booking appointment this afternoon, but I just realised that I didn't get a Bounty pack - has everyone else been given them at booking appts? Or is it just first time mums that get them? She also didn't do the form for free prescriptions - any idea when I will get this? On the plus side, she was reasonably positive about me having a home birth, and didn't tell me off for high BMI.

Good to hear everyone's good news, and that we now have twins on the thread! I figured there would be someone, and was getting a bit paranoid that it might be me - of course it still might be - got my scan on the 19th May - aaaaages away

OP posts:
Threelittleducks · 27/04/2010 20:34

I didn't get a Bounty Pack until I had ds last time. Full of guff it was - advertising crap. Was hugely disappointed as my mum had raved about how great it was. Ah, the age of commercialism eh?

Question (tmi sorry!): Did anyone have to take a sample of pee in? It says to on my letter and I have nothing sterile to put it in! But don't want a telling off when I get there. Pretty sure I just performed while there last time. Hmm...

hi all i got my bounty pack at my booking in appointment and i found it quite crap 2 be honest the only good thing about it is it comes in a folder ,which you are meant to use to carry your notes in. Three little ducks i had to bring a urine sample in but i just went to the reception at my docs and got a few urine sample tube things lol

umf · 27/04/2010 20:51

Not filling in the form and claiming the Bounty pack this time. Moving house twice has only just stopped the endless stream of junk mail from giving Bounty my address last time.

Threelittleducks · 27/04/2010 21:16

Good shout mumcha

hmmSleep · 27/04/2010 21:20

So pleased everyone's scans seem to be going so well.

Would agree with what others have said about the bounty pack, picked mine up at booking in clinic, there was just a big tub of them in the corner of the waiting room, no form to fill in or anything, but was pretty crap. Same the last 2 times, I didn't even bother with future packs, they're mainly just full of advertising rubbish with the odd money off voucher for stuff I don't want or need. There is a £2.00 off pampers voucher which I can use towards ds's nappies, but think I'd have lost it by November!

Threelittleducks I forgot a urine sample, but they had tubes in the antenatal clinic so I just did one there, although I'd only just been to the loo so only managed about 2mm of wee!

tiany · 27/04/2010 21:23

glad to hear all the good news on scans... mine is friday, cant come quick enough!

headless congrats on the twins... very exciting!!

My clothes still fit though feeling a bloated and strategically wearing loose tops as think my fitted gear would be total give away... love the dresses posted earlier though... actually cant wait to go shopping cause been holding off for a while.

Only Dh knows so far... been waiting for scan before sharing the news. Not planning to tell work for another month if i can manage it.. will be on hols last two wks in May so i think should be ok.

Threelittleducks I took a sample to my booking-in appointment - due to being naturally over-prepared I actually took two (as the bottles I used were v small and I thought I might not have enough in just one...) and promptly forgot about the second one in my handbag - only used the handbag again a few days ago and was a little disconcerted to find a two-week-old bottle of my own wee in it. Planning just to provide one on the day in future...

Great news about all the happy scans. Mine is at 9 this morning, which is why I've been needlessly awake since 6 ... when is yours, babybean?

I've also been having vivid dreams - including one the other night where DH died during a storm, I was holding in him my arms and weeping in the dream, it was awful. Prize for the weirdest so far goes to the night before last, where I dreamed for ages about a small hairless African stoat (this is a breed I think I made up just for this dream), which kept taking out its eyes, putting them in its mouth, and putting them back in its eye sockets again, over and over again. Loony bin, anyone?
