Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

I haven't told work yet, I feel a bit private and protective about it somehow. My manager knows and that's it. I'm not in any maternity wear (I am fat anyway so I think I hide it better ) so I don't think they'd spot it. I am going to try and leave it another four weeks or so I think, we'll see.

I had my blood tests at my booking in appointment, and the consultant has written and confirmed my blood type and haemaglobin levels and nothing else. Do you think this means I can assume I am Rubella immune or whatever it is they test for? I guess they would call if there was a problem right?

Sabie · 26/04/2010 20:51

Hi all,

Great news, all the positive scans!

still forever to go for my scan; 7th May so still haven't told anyone except Manager and one friend. All symptoms appear to have eased off but still have a small bump. I wish I wasn't worrying so much that I'm going to go for the scan and there will be nothing there. (I need to cop myself on and think positive!)

I went swimming at the weekend, it felt soooo good. Any one else swimming? Thinking of trying aqua-aerobics. I have also ordered the Davina and another exercise DVD; anyone tried?

Good Luck to all with scans/tests this week.

Threelittleducks · 26/04/2010 21:01

Hello all, just marking my place ;)

Glad to hear scans went well. Got mine on Thursday and am really excited! Bit nervous too mind - scared there will be nothing there though and have just imagined it all. No reason to be scared, but have been having horrible dreams about it. Come on Thursday!!

bunnygirl80 · 26/04/2010 23:48

Threelittleducks I have my scan on Thursday too!

I'm getting quite anxious about the scan now. I think that as my symptoms are starting to lessen I'm worrying that there will be a problem.

Definitely starting to get my energy back now - played my first netball game of the season on Saturday, and then went for a 11km hike yesterday!!

If all is well at the scan then I will entering the world of maternity wear. Not one pair of my trousers now does up comfortably This seems even more bizarre as I had lost over half a stone before I got pg and I still weigh less now than I did 6 months ago, but all of my clothes fitted then. I guess I'm just expanding in a different place to where I lost the weight from

loopy my mum also offered to come and stay, but we've politely declined. Much as I love her she fusses over me a lot and I get quite claustrophobic of it at times. They're going to come once the LO is a couple of months old instead as flights will be cheaper and the weather will be a bit cooler for them so they can have a nice holiday too

BuzzInBlue · 27/04/2010 00:28

Hi all,

I'm very late joining this thread but I'm a total newbie to MumsNet! I'm at 10+5, EDD 17th Nov! 1st pg.

I'm having an interesting time with scans as I recently moved to the USA so have already had 2 - one at 5weeks and one at 9 weeks. Have the 12-week one next Sat and the NT one just after that. Having a hard time dealing with pg in a different country - didn't know how geared up I was to the UK way of things through friends' pgs etc! Quite a different approach in general over here...

Anyway it's nice to hear everyone else's experiences on here - hope it's not too late for me to join the party

Hello BuzzinBlue the Germans seem to do loads of scan too, I'm losing count of how often I've been to the doctor. Is your care done through doctors or midwives?

We spent the weekend in Milan which was lovely. However, eating was a minefield - I had to go through every menu saying "no, no, no, don't think I'm allowed that either...", all of those lovely cured hams, nice wine, cheese I also did no shopping - not much point if nothing is going to fit in a couple of weeks (and I'm not really into designer clothing anyway). If the Italians have chic maternity shops they must keep them well hidden.

So far I'm still in normal clothing, I went and had a look at some maternity stuff yesterday but none of it appealed apart from the jeans. Are over- or under-bump styles more comfortable? I'm assuming with the weather warming up that the under-bump ones will be a bit cooler. I think I'm still in denial that I'm actually going to grow out of my clothes.

Sabie I'm thinking of starting swimming again as my running tails off. Actually one of my triathlete friends asked if I wanted to try the first open water swim of the year. Does anyone know of any reason why cold water would be a bad idea? I think I can still squeeze into my wetsuit for a few more months so it would mainly be hands, feet and face getting cold.

4madboys · 27/04/2010 09:02

morning all

well my eczema seems to have calmed down slightly today, still a bit irritable but not angry and red like yesterday, thank goodness.

i am so so fed up with feeling sick tho, every afternoon and evening, at times i have to just lie down on the sofa and i cant move i feel that sick, dp is getting a bit fed up with it, but ffs its not like i want to feel sick, at times i feel like crying it just sucks.

LOOPSY what are the issues that mean you may need an early induction? sorry if you have said before!

am hoping i get my letter from the hospital giving me a date for my scan today, they said i should get it early this week! my nuchal scan is on the 18th may so it should be before then.

right i need to get myself and ds4 ready to go to parenting group, hope everyone has a good day xxx

Threelittleducks · 27/04/2010 09:14

bunnygirl80 It's so exciting isn't it? Frustrating too knowing there are just 2 days to go...slowest week ever! I have a feeling it's going to be a sleepless night on Wednesday.

Not that I am sleeping well anyway. I keep getting woken up by toilet calls or hunger or just sheer crazy dreams. Had a horrible dream last night about my nana that had me in tears for an hour (been pretty cool and calm about it all so far - have no idea why my mind chose 4in the morning to start having a breakdown! )

Then when I finally got back to sleep I had a dream that my (male) friend was harbouring midgets at his mum's house and was making them dance in In The Night Garden costumes. He called them "teacup people" and they did a show in his mum's living room every lunchtime

umf · 27/04/2010 09:37

Aargh yes, the crazy dreams! Next to the sickness and indigestion they're my most disliked symptom. Bad one last night involving arrow massacre.

Plus side so far: nice nails and disappearance of trapped nerve back pain.

Booboobedoo · 27/04/2010 10:20

4madboys and Loopymumsy - you could try my method of teaching DH to be more supportive.

Basically, I had hyperemesis, A.N.D, SPD then segued nicely into PND after DS was born.

It was divorce or counselling in the end, as he handled it all very badly.

Decided to try the counselling, and this time round he's being Perfect.

In fact, physically speaking I don't think I'm that much better this time 'round, but DH's support will hopefully help me avoid the depression.

Not that helpful I know, but honestly, you've both given these men four children apiece. Kicks up the bottom to them both!

My scan's at 14:30. Very excited!

PJen · 27/04/2010 10:40

Hi guys, I am due in early dec but have two questions for you guys as you are ahead of me

1- any of you had a early scan and consultant telling them that the fetus is smaller than calculation and then the 12 scan and all is fine?

2- How much weight have you guys put on so far having a healthy diet?

Sorry to hijack your thread but would be very thankful if you can give me some ideas.

Thanks,
Jen

hmmSleep · 27/04/2010 12:36

Just bookmarking.

cluelessnchaos · 27/04/2010 12:37

Jen I am sure there was someone on one of the earlier threads who measuring small and everything turned out fine, I have had a really healthy diet and have Put on about half a stone, but I have only really been snacking on fruit and haven't been very sick, hth

Kyuri · 27/04/2010 12:51

Welcome Buzz you'll have everyone in the UK jealous of your multiple scans, they're pretty tight with those on the NHS!

PJen can't help you with the scan issue but I know measuring small for dates has happened to others on here. As far as weight goes, I've put on about 6 lb since finding out I was pregnant (am 13+1 now) but that is largely due to the fact that I have been eating like a horse.

Have agreed to participate in a Tommy's study being run at the hospital here which involves 3 hospital visits and some extra blood tests but does get me 2 extra scans (28 wks and 36 wks)...my ears pricked up when I heard that

Kawaiiko haven't told work yet, want to leave it till about 16 weeks I think. Still wondering how best to tell my admin who lost her baby last week at 15 weeks....reckon telling her first (after manager) and privately is probably the best way to go. She's back at work today (amazing given she delivered on Wed last week) and actually seems to be doing pretty well.

Boo in awe at how you've steeled yourself to get pregnant again after what sounds like a complete NIGHTMARE the first time around! Glad to hear that your DH is giving you the support you need this time around. My DH is, on the whole, being very good although I know he is sometimes sceptical when I complain about the "invisible" signs of early pregnancy - nausea, tiredness, breathlessness etc. Would be better if I was puking my guts up and passing out all over the shop I think I think it will be more real for him when I am visibly pregnant. Doesn't stop me complaining though

Loopy not sure about spontaneous hayfever affliction later in life! I know I had it really badly when I was a teenager but have grown out of it to a certain extent over the past 10-15 years or so. Whether the same thing could happen in reverse I'm not sure! If it gets really annoying you could always slip some Piriton, as that would help the hayfever and also a runny nose caused by a cold. It might make you drowsy though so possibly not the best when you have 3 to look after!

Re crazy dreams, I had the mother of all dreams last night....but will not disturb your sensibilities by sharing, doing my best to forget it! Nice to be able to attribute it to pregnancy (phew).

jen i think there was at least one lady who had an early scan where baby was small for dates, no heartbeat etc and then a scan ten days later and all was fine?

weight wise, i am actually loosing weight tho have noticed the last day or so that my tummy feels fuller, like a bit bloated, but my clothes all fit fine, but it really varies from person to person.

boo boo my dp is pretty good tbh, but he works for social services and does some crazy shifts so gets tired etc, we had counselling after my pnp/pnd nto because we were going to split up but just because it was helpful, if anything me having pnp and spending time in hospital etc has actually strengthened our relationship

right i need to get on and tidy, sort lunch etc, loving this sunny weather!

Sabie · 27/04/2010 13:16

Pjen - have put on 4lbs and am 10 weeks but clothes are tight around the waist band & if you were looking intently you could spot a pregnancy shape.

CardiCorgi - my DH is about to swap from the indoor pool to the local Lido (outside) pool. I don't have a wetsuit and am wondering if I should stick to the indoor; can you 'shock' a fetus with cold water? Outdoor/open water swimming is so fantastic though; very tempting.

Loopy - you can develop hayfever later in life, it happened to me at about 30 but I'd moved house so I think it is sensitivity to a particular pollen.

PJen · 27/04/2010 13:21

You girls are amazing!!! Thank you so much for all your lovely responses!! xox

umf · 27/04/2010 13:31

Pjen can't face scales but imagine may have gone up a whole 6kg. My SiL did too in first trim. I only went up a couple of kg in first trim last time, but gained lots of fat later in pg. Swings and roundabouts.

booboo wow what a dreadful time! glad we're all around for each other now.

We meant to go for counselling a year or two after first baby. No pnd or anything awful, just the usual emotional and financial stresses. But we were too exhausted and busy so never managed it . Might well have been v good idea, but all feels resolved now. That and no-sleep DS are main reasons for big gap, though.

PrivetDancer · 27/04/2010 13:41

Hi pjen, I had an early scan with no heatbeat and then another a week or so later which found a heartbeat and I was measuring about 10 days earlier than I thought. So I must have got a very early +ve test.
My 12 week scan is next week (7th may, hello sabie!) so I am desperately hoping all will be ok and I will finally know how many weeks I am.

I take it you have had an early scan too? Did they find a heartbeat?

I haven't put any weight on yet as I've not had much of an appetite.

Pidgin · 27/04/2010 13:47

PJen I have put on ten pounds, which I moan about fairly regularly on here and try to pretend I don't mind/ haven't noticed in RL. (I'm 12+1.) I don't have any information about the scan thing but have heard of various women who were 'small for dates' early on and ended up just fine. If I remember rightly - and apologies if I have got you totally confused with someone else, blame it on the preghead - you're in west London, no? (Me too.)

HeadlessLadyH · 27/04/2010 13:57

Hello ladies,

I am taking the plunge and posting here after lurking for a while;

I'm 9+4 with twins ! Well there were 2 heartbeats there 10 days ago.

EDD about the 26th November I think. I am just ever so slightly bricking it as a) I have had history of MC (5) b) I have 2 boys already so how the F* am I going to cope with 2 more???

But I thought it was about time I joined this thread for a bit of hand holding.

Nice to meet you all. Am at work so hopefully will be able to log back in later today.

Babybean1 · 27/04/2010 14:04

Hi pjen. Ive only put on a couple of pounds, but bizarrely i seem to have expanded loooads so guessing its just my uterus stretching which doesnt weigh alot yet.
Have been sick quite alot though and appetitie only really starting to return (12+1 today - not that im counting obiously!!)

DH struggled a little in the beginning, i think more to do with the idea or how much life will change and how we wont be able to do all the things we previously did, but he's now getting really into it and keeps mentioning "when we have the baby" etc which is lovely.

Ohhh soooo hoping all is ok tommorrow! Really want to stop worrying about it now but its very difficult! Think its gonna be a sleepless night for me too

PrivetDancer · 27/04/2010 14:10

Oooh!! Headlessladyh!! We have twins on the thread at last
excitement aside, yes I expect it is quite worrying, so I hope everything goes well for you..

Ooh!
