Lovely to hear all the good news scan stories, keep them coming!

Loopy I agree entirely about the list, good job and congrats on the upgrade to DC4!

Lorelai my MW filled out the prescription exemption form at the booking appt and said it should come through the post....still waiting though.

Did get the Bounty folder thingy but had started to feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of reading literature being thrown at us at that stage so have lobbed it into a cupboard (where no doubt I will find it long after it will have been of any use!).

Very pleased with myself this morning as I found a couple of pairs of "fat" jeans which means I have a few more options re casual wear for the time being. It's work attire I am really struggling with at the moment.

Scan at 10:45 this morning, v excited. Will report back.

bunnygirl80 · 28/04/2010 08:35

loopymumsy you make my efforts with the list look quite poor I only went through this thread though, as tbh it took ages and I got with so many people

Less than 24 hours till my dating scan I'm now offically terrified so don't reckon I'll be getting much sleep tonight. I finally got around to booking in my nuchal scan today as well - was a bit taken aback when they asked for my weight in kilos as part of the booking procedure. I had a vague guess as have been hiding from the scales recently and only ever weigh myself in stones anyway!

Kyuri I don't even fit in my "fat" jeans any more so I've decided that whenever I'm at home I'm just going to wear my pjs

Good luck with the scans pidgin babybean and kyuri

HeadlessLadyH · 28/04/2010 09:20

Thank you loopy for adding me to the list. All getting realer (made up word?) by the minute now.

Good luck to all that have scans today.

I'm waiting for an appointment from the hosptial following my booking in appointment. Am hoping sooner rather than later as I need to see if there are still 2 in there. Will be 10 weeks on Friday and I've told my MW that I don't want the nuchal scan due to a massive scare with DS2 (all was ok in the end but am not putting myself through it again as my odds will be pretty bad as I am now 39). I'm plumping straight for the CVS test which MW said they will do at 11 weeks.

youremindmeofthebabe · 28/04/2010 09:25

Hello All. Hope you're all good today. Good luck with any scans, and for yours tomorrow bunny headless congratulations on the twins. Am sure it will all be fine, but i can see how you may be concerned. Best of luck!

I am still feeling like my scan is forever away, 12th May. I went for my midwife appt on monday, and all was good, but my blood pressure was quite high. Not Good. Am quite active and not overweight, so was a bit gutted. But Hey ho, not much i can do about it now. Lets hope it all pans out ok.

Threelittleducks · 28/04/2010 09:25

Good luck with the scans today ladies. Oh I wish it was tomorrow already!

Kyuri · 28/04/2010 09:50

Think I have peaked too soon on the full bladder front....scan is still an hour away and I really need a wee! God help me if they're running late

b00kw0rm · 28/04/2010 09:50

So great to hear of all these fab scans- mine was a week ago and now I want another! And good luck to those with scans today.

I've been feeling terrible after having a tummy bug last week- it's really thrown me so my MS is SO much worse even though I'm 12w+ now. Think it's just that my usual strategy of eating loads isn't working as I've completely lost my appetite.

I haven't really thought about maternity clothes as such yet, although I have moved up to work trousers in a bigger size which I bought 6 months after having DD so I'm hoping they'll last for a couple of months as I didn't wear any maternity clothes until about 24w with her!

I did get a Bounty pack from the midwife but just emptied it at home, chucked all the gumpf and put my notes back in- agree with umf that it's not worth all the junk mail!

Hope everyone has a nice day in the sun...

stuffedmk · 28/04/2010 10:16

Kyuri Have not been online for a few days sorry.
Your fitting sounds about right....The staff won't be happy selling you a wired bra as their name is used as a guarantee of the fit. If they don't fit according to the guidelines they will be in trouble I personally believe that as a company they would want to avoid something which has unknown ramifications (and the possibility of future legal issues). We used to tell customers that we wouldn't advise wires and so wouldn't guarentee the fit (putting 'not fitted' on the receipt to cover ourselves) We were quite firm about it, but if the customer was determined then it is their money, so would just get the best fit possible while making sure they understood that nobody knew the longterm possibilities that may go along with going against this advise. We would say this with non pregnant women who were determined to have a different size than advised aswell. My personal opinion is that you have to be very careful with wires, pregnant or not as we don't know if there is any correlation between ill fitting bras, wires digging in etc.. and breast health. The reason they are more difficult in pregnancy is the likelyhood of sudden breast growth. I just don't think it is worth the risk...but it is a personal thing.
Don't mean this to sound harsh....just giving you an idea of the reasons for the service you recieved.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 28/04/2010 11:13

Good luck to all with the scans! It's been great to hear all the good news so far. Including about the twins headless! How exciting!.

Mine is the 10th of May, by which point I'll be 13+2. I have been worrying about this not being the optimal moment for the nuchal test etc, but well, the doctor didn't see any issue with it, so I guess I'm stuck with it. I suppose it's still fine.

As for bras and clothes - I lost quite a lot of weight over the past year and still have some of my pre-diet clothes, which have come into their own now. They fit fine, though my newer and slinkier stuff no longer looks great unfortunately. I'd like to think I look pregnant, but suspect I just look like I've been packing the pounds back on .

Kyuri · 28/04/2010 11:33

stuffedmk thanks for posting, it's definitely helpful to have a bit of the background. I can see where the lady was coming from now! Also good to know that the fit sounds about right.

Just back from scan and all went very well. Heart still beating away and baby has grown 13mm in a week! I am bang on for dates (13+2). Got some lovely photos which will be great to have when telling the family next week. 7 wks seems a long wait until the next scan now....

Looking forward to hearing about yours pidgin and babybean

Pidgin · 28/04/2010 11:46

Just got back from my scan too and it was amazing! I feel so happy and like I've breathed out a massive sigh of relief...

The baby looked so beautiful and cosy - it moved over from lying on its back to lying on its tummy while we were watching, and the sonographer said it was giving the placenta a cuddle! We could see legs and feet and hands, and a wonderful beating heart, and it was just the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I'm starting to well up typing this!

Glad to hear yours went well too kyuri - good luck for later on babybean! Will be thinking of you and all those who have scans coming up.

V glad to hear good scan news! All the best for this afternoon, babybean.

Still trying to book mine. Called as instructed a week after booking in appt but told they didn't have my papers. Now two weeks since booking but phone queue is v long and I haven't had the patience to sit through it again yet. Strongly suspect they don't actually answer, since have spent 15 mins as "4th in queue".

But not unduly worried because on 10+2 and don't want potential stress caused by nuchal screening anyway, so only dating/basic fetal check needed. Had scan at 7+5 which was ok, and 99% sure can feel it wriggling now, which has to be a good sign. So remaining sanguine. Annoying for DH who needs to arrange to "work from home" that day, tho.

cluelessnchaos · 28/04/2010 13:59

I wish my scan was sooner, i am like you SomethingSuitablyWitty, i will be 13 +2 and my scan is on the 10th may,I tried to move it later to let my dh get off the rig in time to be there but the only appt they had was a week later, so we will just have to hope he can make it for the 20 week scan, he is a bit gutted. I have asked a friend to come and hold my hand instead.

Babybean1 · 28/04/2010 14:29

Great news on the scans pidgin and kyuri fingers crossed I'll be as happy as you guys! Soooo ridicculously nervous it's stupid! Know it isn't going to help but don't seem to be able to stop thinking about it! Arrgh!

Feel for all of you guys still waiting! Only have a few hours left to wait and it seems like a lifetime!

And there was me thinking the getting pregnant was the hard part after a 17 month slog....how wrong was u??!

Babybean1 · 28/04/2010 14:30

Oh and sorry forgot say thanks to everyone for the well wishes

stuffedmk · 28/04/2010 14:42

I'm with everyone whose scan is still aaaages away (11th May here) Counting down the minutes days

So cool that we finally have twins in the group...wonder if there will be any more.

I have now converted to the belief that it is possible to feel baby this early...sod what the experts say, it isn't just gas...I have enough of that at the moment to compare with and I think the bee in a matchbox description is pretty close. Am 10+2 today and have felt a tiny flutter a couple of times now WOOHOO!!!

Loooopy · 28/04/2010 14:57

glad to hear lots of positive scan stories....got my scan tomorrow lunchtime and just keep hoping that everything is as it should be in there...it might all start to feel real then too! As at the moment, i just feel fat! I can't do up any of my jeans or suit trousers, bought a suit in the next size up mid March, wore it yesterday and the trousers only just did up! My boobs have grown loads and so my tops don't fit either - clingy ones look too tight and shirts are gaping - neither are good looks! I refuse to keep buying normal clothes in bigger sizes if i'm only going to get a months use out of them like the suit, so i'm now wearing maternity stuff, but trying to wear non-obvious things....luckily i mainly work from home got some basic bits from the ASDA website, strappy tops and some long sleeved tops for when the sun isn't out, and they are so comfy still in search of perfect comfy jeans, but trying to perservere with the new look ones and using a belt to keep them up!

double congratulations to headlessladyh - i think the odds are 1 in 66 of having twins so there had to be at least one person on here that would have twins!

and bunnygirl80 never mind not getting sleep tonight worrying about tomorrow, i am getting no sleep any night!! i wake up every night for at least 1 wee, and then when i get back in bed, i am wide awake and mind goes into overdrive and then can't get back to sleep! Anyone got any suggestions on improving sleep or is this normal?

applegirl · 28/04/2010 15:33

Oh all these scans are making me worry more about mine on Friday! Glad it's at 9am as it will be bad enough getting through tomorrow, let alone having to wait on the day too long!!

I am mostly wearing leggings and the most gorgeous and comfy trackies from white stuff (on half price sale). Tried to put on my jeans this morning - no chance

Loooopy I am getting very little sleep too. I am a light sleeper at the best of times, and my DH's mild snoring is doing my head in!! My mind just races with stuff and I find it hard to switch off again! My technique is going through the alphabet thinking of baby names - girls, then boys ;) Good luck with your scan tomorrow x

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 28/04/2010 15:35

Hey clueless so sorry to hear your DH will miss the scan on the 10th. That's really a drag! Good that you have your friend to go with you though, and I will also be happy to virtually hold your hand! We can update each other after.

MrsLL2B · 28/04/2010 18:18

I need to check this out more regularly, it has just taken me ages to read all the pages of messages!

Pidgin - your dreams about the african stoat made me laugh out loud! And great news about the scan, sounds so cute.

Got my first scan tomorrow, can't wait though am really hoping it is good news as there seem to be quite alot of people getting bad news on here. Also v scared of finding out there are 5 babies in there!!

I went to M&S to look for a bigger bra, only to be measured and told I had gone down a size?? Ignored their advice and just bought a bra in a bigger back and cup size and feels comfy. Asked a few friends with babies about under-wired and they all said they continued to wear them and their midwives were fine with it. Think you just need to know it fits.

Keep the positive scan stories coming, they're lovely.

BuzzInBlue · 28/04/2010 18:30

Wow, it's so exciting hearing about all your scans! My 12-week one isn't til next week and I can't wait :-)

Was just wondering - how much can you actually see on the scan? Does it look like a baby yet? On my 9-week scan we could just see a blob shape - didn't look like anything in the books. Doctor seemed happy though, so not worried, but hoping to make out some sort of baby shape soon!!!

Loopymumsy - I haven't seen that Ricky Lake film - now can't decide whether to (to get info) or not (if it will worry me!!). We're in the states until Jan although might stay another year depending on dh's job. Was reading about the hosital yesterday - they are very keen on massive pain relief and also c-sections so I will have to talk to someone very careful about my options...

CardiCorgi - are you in Germany? How are you finding the different system? So far it's been all doctor here - am going to ask about midwives at my appointment next week.

BTW - has anyone else got way ahead of themselves and started looking at buggies and other gear yet?! I'm sure it's terrible luck to do it this early on but just can't help myself...

Threelittleducks · 28/04/2010 18:43

Buzz I have totally spent the last 3 days looking at double buggies - is bad, very very bad I know. But I can't help it! I finished my course work and now it's like I have a licence to research all things baby! I'm really enjoying it
