Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Loopymumsy - we had that birthpoolinabox - but I was induced in hosp in the end.

It just sat in our bedroom for two years, and we eventually sold it on e-bay for only £10 less than we'd originally paid!

Stressed-looking man picked it up - his wife was due in two days.

Fenouille · 25/04/2010 17:00

Lorelai Yeah, let's have a cuppa instead I do agree though - most odd.

Boris I hope your scan goes well tomorrow - I've got to go and have my monthly bloods done tomorrow too so I'll be thinking of you

i hired a birth pool when i was preg with ds3, it was great for relaxing in at the end of pregnancy, but we lived in a tiny 2up 2 down victorian terrace and it basically filled the living room unfortunatly ds3 got to 23days overdue and i gave up waiting as it was so close to xmas and went in to hospital to get my waters broken (i am allergic to the prostin they use to induce normally) so having my waters broken is the only way, luckily i have always been abotu 3cm by the time they do that, with lots of niggly contractions and as soon as they break my waters i go straight into active labour, ds3 only took 3hrs to be born, had him at 5am and then was home by 9am, good job as it was the 23rd dec!

ds4 i waited till 15days over, tried accupuncture etc but was really fed up so went in and had waters broken, strong contractions straight away, got into the birth pool at hte hospital and had him 40mins later, 10lb 13oz and didnt have to push! my body just took over and delivered him, thank god for gas and air tho

would LOVE a homebirht this time and said so on booking, they have no issues as long as i dont go too overdue and are wanting to do gtt and extra scan due to ds4's size, however all my babies have been big, 9lb+ and i have laboured naturally and delivered easily all four times, never had any signs of gd etc so i think they are just trying to be awkward? or phaps i am cyncial, but my midwife and a consultant i have met privately says its obvious that i just grow good size, healthy babies and a have a pelvis that is designed perfectly for childbirth

so i plan on sticking to my guns and not letting them push me around, WHEN i go overdue which i will i shall just request expectant management care, am happy to go in for monitering etc and have an extra scan to check fluid levels and the placenta but i REALLY want to hold on and go into labour naturally.

sorry for the rant, but i know i birth fine and want a home birth so i am going to have to be prepared to fight my corner i feel, plus ds2 and ds3 have been watching lots of births on tv recently, on a home and health channel (lovely home birth prog) and they are quite keen to see me have a baby, tho they dont actually know that i am preg, just that we are thinking of having another baby! really want to tell them but want to wait till after scan to know all is ok.

right i need to go and cook dinner and try not to gag as i do so, the joys of pregnancy sickness, repeats mantra that it is a GOOD sign....

Just bought some bra strap extenders from Amazon, as my boobs are still the same cup size, but the bras are getting tighter around my ribs. Will let you know if they're any good.

Kyuri · 26/04/2010 12:09

Afternoon all.

Loopy thanks again for the pool info!

Hope everyone's week has started well.

I'm getting a call this afternoon with the results of combined nuchal/blood test but hoping that the risk will be low as the nuchal measurement was good.

Good luck with your scan Boris!

harmonyb23 · 26/04/2010 13:07

Hey everyone, so sorry to hear your news Becks.

I am now 10 + 2 and am starting to feel less nauseous. Am managing to eat actual portions of food at dinner time now! I seem to be getting bigger and bigger and even my usually baggy work trousers are starting to get tight!

I am a 32F normally so I would look awful without an underwired bra! I agree with Booboobedoo you should be able to decide what bra you want, fair enough if they want to give you advice but not to say you shouldn't be wearing underwired!

Can't wait until my scan now, after hearing everyone else's good news about scans it makes me really excited!! Just hope that everything is alright this time round!! Bit gutting that I have to wait 2 more weeks really!

JFly · 26/04/2010 13:38

Haven't posted in a while but have been trying to lurk when I can keep up with all of you!

So, think I'm about 9 weeks now. Still not feeling particularly pg, apart from eating loads and getting fat. I have finally started wearing a few mat things mostly because I hate the pudge that spills over my trousers. Most unattractive.

I had my booking in appt last week and have a consultant appt this afternoon. I'm pleased about that (routine for C&W) as I was getting ready for a fight. I still haven't decided if I'm going for VBAC or another CS but I'm glad that there are no barriers put up at my hospital. I've had friends that really had to fight to have a CS and if that's is my ultimate decision I don't want to go through a battle.

For the well-endowed looking to get decent maternity bras, try Anita. They do very good maternity underwire bras and I also liked their nursing bras. They are more expensive than some, but I think if you need underwire (like me) then it's better to get well-made maternity bras rather than just ordinary underwire bras.

OH, and whoever does the stats update, it says I'm on pg3 - that's technically correct (had a mc), but I only have one child, so I consider it expecting my 2nd. You don't have to change it if you don't want to, but there you are.

Babybean1 · 26/04/2010 13:57

Hi Everyone

Although your probably not reading this anymore, im thinking of you Babybecks

Just wanted to say what a nice bunch we seem to have on hear. Have read a few of the other threads with babies due around the same time and this is definitely the most active and everyone is so supportive and quick with responses! Thank you all for being lovely people to share this wonderful experience with

Anyway, slushyness over - lol!

Am 12 weeks today and kinda wonder now where the times gone!! Never thought id say that as until i see my active bean on wednesday (very very hopefully!!) it doesnt seem real!
Went to but new clothes yesterday as nothing fits anymore so that makes it feel real! DH keeps looking at me, i think trying to wonder when i changed so quickly! Bit odd with bras tho! Find some of my old ones fit fine, then bought a bigger size yest and looked like Jordan! Hmmmmm not sure what happened there when it was bigger!
Even my hips seem to have grown way too much! How rude!!!

Hope scans this week go well for everyone

Babybean1 · 26/04/2010 13:58

sorry, meant on here....not hear!!

umf · 26/04/2010 14:26

Thanks for Anita tip, JFly. Do they have a direct website or did you buy via another company?

Squeezed swelling bosoms into last hope dress today. Will have to get some maternity wear figured out this week.

loopsy that is one of my other options to go in for arm and then go home! i can see the hospital being REALLY stroppy about that tho! plus it took an hour from waters breaking to ds4 being born, so that kind of puts me off...

but i may want to hear your long story please!!

my eczema has gone mad, my face is all red and angry looking, blotchy and feels hot to the touch, it tends to do this when iam preg but i thought i had got away with it, as it normally happens when i am first preg, i am now almost ten weeks, so odd for it to happen at this stage and hugely annoying, just trying to moisturise loads and hope it clears up asap.

BorisTheBold · 26/04/2010 15:49

Hi all - thanks for your wishes yesterday,

Scan went well this morning, although it was delayed by an hour and I was suffering from extreme nerves and ms whilst in the waiting room - one of the nurses was terrified I was going to be sick on the floor. Weird - as I was never this worried with the other two, although I think that was because I only had 20 weeks scans with them and I could already feel them kicking away beforehand.

Saw baby - everything's looking good. Unfortunately, the sonographer couldn't get a neck measurement due to it's position so I've to go back for bloods at 15 weeks instead. I was also put back about a week and now have an EDD of 12th November.

Feeling much more relaxed now and only slightly grumpy to discover that I'm now back in the first trimester .

Hope everyone else has had a good day too.

Babybean1 · 26/04/2010 16:14

Come to think of it Loopy my nose prob has been a bit runnier than normal.... Doesnt stop the increased sense of smell though unfortunately!!

4madboys - Maybe the change is because your having a girl this time round?! Am not pleased to see my spotty teeange looking face beginning to clear up!

Great news on the scan Boris. Really hoping mine isnt delayed wednesday as not sure i could hold a full bladder that long at the mo!!

Babybean1 · 26/04/2010 16:16

Oops another typing error - should have read AM pleased, not and Not pleased to see my spotty face going! Think baby brain is definitely kicking in!!

Booboobedoo · 26/04/2010 16:30

Afternoon all.

Loopymumsy - I have perma-snot too. Ive had it since my chest-infection at six weeks, and it drives me potty.

Btw, I have no idea if I got Milton tablets with my birthpool. We made the decision to have a homebirth late, based on the fact that the hospital delivery rooms smelled of cats wee. (Turns out it's the disinfectant they use). I don't think I even looked in the box - left it to DH.

4madboys - Sorry to hear about your eczema. Mine is usually terrible, but has cleared up in both my pregnancies. My dermatologist advised me to keep using my steroid cream if it flared up.

Babybean1 - it is a nice thread, isn't it? I was on a MN thread in my last pregnancy, and found it invaluable.

Btw, Kyuri, hope you didn't feel blasted by my bra rant! Wasn't aimed at you - I just get frustrated by this stuff.

Scan tomorrow afternoon - can't wait! Glad to hear all was well with your, Boris.

Kyuri · 26/04/2010 16:45

Boo not at all! I admire the assertiveness and need to take you along with me for my next foray into bra-shopping

Loopy, Babybean and Boo - is there a chance your colds/chest infection have turned into hayfever? I've started sneezing the last few days and suspect the season is upon us.

Great news about the scan Boris. I have my NHS one on Wednesday this week and am really looking forward to seeing the baby again after last week's nuchal. Nuchal result in and risk is low - woohoo!

JFly · 26/04/2010 17:37

Link to Anita on Figleaves here.

I wore the microfibre jaquard underwire in both mat and nursing and found them very comfortable. (Well, until I was 42 weeks - then, NOTHING was comfortable apart from the bravado soft bra.) I wasn't keen on the non-wired bras, but found that with all mat bras.

When my milk came in, I was forced into a J-cup Royce non-underwire number, as it was the only one Rigby and Peller stocked in my size. Scary stuff. Thankfully I'm holding at DD/E at the moment. I dread to think what I'll be in later stages.

JFly · 26/04/2010 17:45

Grr, just had a look and I'm not sure Figleaves stocks the mat version now. Anyway, have a look online or go for the nursing version.

umf · 26/04/2010 18:00

Thanks Jfly. 4madboys I'm getting eczema too, on eyelids and upper arms. Normally only get it if severely stressed, actually quite chilled atm.

Wot's an ARM??

Boris glad to hear about scan!

Pidgin · 26/04/2010 18:41

Good news about the scan Boris.

Well I made my first entry into maternity wear at the weekend - I'm 12 weeks today too. My lovely MIL passed on a pair of stretchy trousers and a maternity cardi she had bought by accident - I spent most of the weekend in them stroking the lovely stretchy material and saying to DH, "They are so comfy!" I don't think he understood why I was so excited... also bought my first piece of maternity wear today, which was a maternity swimming cossie from FHTM - a bargain at a tenner! I'll have no excuse not to exercise now, though...

Evening all, I looked away for a few days and there's a whole new thread! I'm really not very good with this frequent updating lark...not on facebook or anything

I had my NT/dating scan on Friday and it was very exciting! They've moved my edd forward again to the 26th Oct so I am now on this thread under completely false pretenses as I will be 14 weeks tomorrow!

Was fantastic to see the little baby dancing round on the screen - it sucked its thumb and swallowed and zoomed back and forwards so much that the scan took 40 mins instead of 20. Plus the senior sonographer had to come in and jab me really quite hard in the belly to get the baby to straighten its neck...thank god she let me have a pee first

So, has anyone told all at work yet? I did today and it was great for about 2 seconds, but the I got paranoid that they were all thinking I was going on a bit. With another 5 1/2 months to go, I don't want to wear their goodwill down too soon!

Loopymumsy my mum has offered to come and stay too - luckily she doesn't work though so we don't have to plan too far ahead. It's a great idea!
