Just had my CVs today. The procedure was fine. Now just crossing all my fingers and toes re the risks and results.
I need to go back tomorrow though as they couldn't get me an antiD.
Anyway, the scan was good. Got some nice dancing and nice pictures. It's really good to hear the heartbeat isn't it...

addicted M&S are naff!! I did buy mine there but as I worked fitting bras for John Lewis for a while a few years back I am confident enough not to need a fitter. I bought some non-wired t-shirt bras rather than getting the specific maternity ones.....It is a good idea to have extra room around the back with maternity bras as the rib cage tends to expand so you should be on either the middle or tightest hook rather than the last one as usual with new bras. The cup however should definately not be tight, if anything a small amount of extra fabric would be preferable (obviously as long as they are supportive)

Happy Birthday Harmony

Yay - great to hear another successful scan fromheretomaternity and SweetGrapes - congrats. How exciting

Had a photoshoot this afternoon, and really enjoyed it. Have another one tomorrow, and really hope that goes well - 3 girls who belong to my old marketing director - I am slightly concerned she may notice my bulges! Hope she is polite enough not to ask Think I may be rather tired afterwards - quite hard work photographing young kids (fun though!)

Have a lovely weekend all x

bunnygirl80 · 24/04/2010 00:51

babybecks sorry to hear your news.

It's nice to see lots more good scans.

fromheretomaternity interesting to hear that the sonographer hazarded a guess at the sex. Just a word of warning though - my friend was told the same at her 12 week scan. At the 20 week scan she was then told that she was in fact having a little girl. It took her a while to get over the news, not because she wasn't happy to be havign a healthy baby girl, but because they'd spent so many weeks planning for their little boy and that future that they'd imagined was now going to be different. And their little girl does now have to sleep in a blue nursery So maybe don't buy too much gender specific stuff just yet!

I've been having trouble getting bras to fit too. It seems I'm too skinny to be pg as I can find very little in my back size with big enough cups (32DD). I originally intended to buy cheap bras as I know they'll need replacing a few time, but none of the cheaper shops over here manufacture a D cup or above in a back size less than a 36

I ended up going to my local posh lingerie shop and buying something ridiculously expensive. It does have 8 different hooks on the back though, so it actually increases by 2 back sizes if needed. And despite being non wired it gives loads of cleavage because it's slightly padded. I also got some cheap M&S ones online so I can wear my nice expensive one when I want to look good, and the others when I don't care if my boobs look like they're round my knees!

hmmSleep · 24/04/2010 08:56

So sorry to hear your news babybecks, take care x.

fromheretomaternity and SweetGrapes, really pleased you both had good news.

Feeling most of all you needing to buy new bras, I've gone from a 34b, to a . . . 34b! They are looking much more full and pert than usual though (instead of spaniels ears), in fact back to how they were prior to breastfeeding 2 dcs, feeling most nostalgic and must admit to having stood in front of mirror in a 'oh those were the days' kind of way .

Threelittleducks · 24/04/2010 09:17

Sorry to hear your news babybecks - hope you are ok.xx

Just marking my place for later. Been caught up in this whole thing with Spookycharlotte! How crazy is that!?! Poor lady. The power of mn is amazing!

applegirl · 24/04/2010 10:19

So sorry to hear about the scan babybecks seniding you hugs too x

Has anyone been experiencing stomachs ache? It's high up and I am rather bloated too. Probably just indegestion and rushing to get to a client this morning(although here I am half an hour early and on mumsnet lol). Hope it's nothing serious. Seem to be rather paranoid this week in the lead up to my dating scan on Friday.

Vix7 · 24/04/2010 10:25

hullo all...
been lovely weather here hope you ladies are enjoying it.

went for my scan yesterday and to my surprise, the sonographer thinks the baby is older than we initially thought.

baby did a lot of rolling around and waving so that was really comforting to see but made life more difficult for the sonographer.

she puts the EDD at 29 Oct so i guess i'm now stuck between the november and october threads as first time moms usu pop later isn't it?

Issy and Becks, sorry to hear of your losses.

balijay · 24/04/2010 12:35

Hello everyone. So sorry to those who have had sad news I know you are probably not on here anymore to read these messages but am thinking of you anyway x

Am 10+1 now (I think)and am still losing weight at a rather alarming rate due to no appetite/throwing up. Have lost nearly a stone now - anyone elses weight going down instead of up?

Fenouille · 24/04/2010 12:51

Hmm My boobs aren't doing much either. Keep waiting for them to start growing but they don't seem to!

Vix7 Come and join me on the cusp! I though I'd be due mid-Nov but when the sonographer gave us my due date I was like a 16 year old - "It can't be, we only did it once." (DH was ill all of Jan) haha

My maternity trousers from Asos arrived today. Got a pair of linen ones for work and a pair of jeans and some lounge pants. Got a couple of tunics too. They're all a touch too big still, but I got under bump ones so I can start wearing them on my "fat" days already. I'm very happy with the quality (mix of Asos own brand and Mama.licious) and as they're not "over bump" I think I'll get a fair bit of wear out of them already (and afterwards too )

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

umf · 24/04/2010 12:57

Babybecks thinking of you.

Had midwife home visit today. Booking in appt happens at home here - presumably so they can check we're not living in squalor. Two midwives, both lovely, listened properly! Amazing, such a difference from appalling care in previous pg in London. Feel so much more positive.

Booboobedo I think I can feel it moving too! Felt ds at about 13 weeks, pretty sure can feel this one now at 10. My MiL says feels like tiny herring whisking you with its tail, but then she's Swedish. I think more like a bumblebee in a matchbox.

Was thinking this is a girl, but now suspect boy since can already feel. Though perhaps that's daft to think boys more active and kick harder. Just think that cos ds was so insanely active in utero.

KiwiKat · 24/04/2010 14:23

Just marking my place. Babybecks, I'm thinking of you too.

4madboys · 24/04/2010 14:33

oh babybecks, sorry to hear that, will be thinking of you xxxxx

balijay i am loosing weight too, myjeans are looser round my waist and on my thighs! i am not actually being sick, just feel pukey on and off all day and cant eat as much, also i think my metabolism speeds up when i am preg as i was the same with my other pregnancies.

re ASOS clothes, i have only recently heard of them, i bought a preg magazine and they had a selection of clothes that looked nice, one from h&m which i may treat myself too once i have had a scan and seen all is well and also some bits from ASOS, its an online site yes, just wary of ordering from somewhere new, i am a BIG whitestuff fan and get most of my clothes from there, but need some cheaper alternatives for when pregnant, hence h&m. what are prices/quality like from asos, customer service ok?

hmmSleep · 24/04/2010 14:56

applegirl, I've had terrible tummy ache for about three weeks now, sometimes really high up and crampy, almost doubled me over a couple of times, all was great at my scans though so think it must just be indigestion and wind! I do seem to have a tummy that's twice the size in the evening than it is when I wake up, so obviously deflating slowly overnight!

balijay, not a stone, but lost half a stone and my jeans are all a bit loose around the bum and thighs now which is rather nice, figure there has to be some upsides to feeling so rotten. 13 wks now though and ms has pretty much disappeared completely, so fully expecting to put weight plus extra back on pretty quickly!

Glad I'm not the only one Fenouille. I've been looking at ASOS for a wedding outfit as I have 2 coming up over the summer, I always seem to be pregnant at weddings (even my own!), all these people I only ever see it such occasions must think I'm permanently popping out children!

Gaga82 · 24/04/2010 15:27

I'm going 95% fat, 5% baby! Great title!

I went in to tell someone at work the other day, who had guessed as soon as I said 'Can I close the door!' I asked them how they knew, and their response was - by the size of me! Lovely.

Hmmsleep I am also at weddings this summer, 2 in August and one in 4 weeks. If you find any good websites, please share.
I was in mothercare earlier, found some nice, light work trousers.

fromheretomaternity · 24/04/2010 15:29

Thanks for the post bunnygirl80, the sonographer did say she was only about 70% sure, but I kind of thought if she'd seen a little dinkle then that was fairly conclusive. Will try to be patient and wait for the next scan.

Buying absolutely nothing till much closer to the time anyway (mainly as I feel a bit superstitious). Part of me hopes it is a girl as we struggled enough to name DS1 and can't find any more boy's names we like!!

applegirl · 24/04/2010 16:18

hmmsleep thanks for the reassurance Seems to have gone now, so I expect it was just indigestion

Photoshoot went well but have had to have a nap this afternoon to recover, 2 x 10 year olds and a 5 year old with way more energy than me! ;)

Off to check out Asos

rollerbaby · 24/04/2010 16:51

Hi all

If you're in the bra shopping mode try nursingbrashop.co.uk. Have bought a load of Hotmilk bras to try and really nice selection in BIG sizes.

Is anyone considering a homebirth for their first? And has anyone had one first or second time around? We are thinking about it, but slightly nervous at the same time. Would be interested to hear any experiences!

Met a doula this morning as well and definitely going to go ahead with her, as I think we need the support and know how when the time comes. I will feel more confident I think havng her there.

Would you eat homemade ice cream with egg in it? I'm arguing with OH about some I have just bought. Who gets food poisoning from ice cream for god's sake?
