Hello everyone

Please may I (re)join?
i was on this thread ages ago when it was all very new but I was under a different name as lots of people in rl know my MN name and was being supercautious about being discovered.

I seem to have fallen off the stats as I wasn't really online very much and since my scan last week my dates have changed anyway so will add myself now if that's okay.

Hope all of you, like me, are starting to feel a little bit better on the MS front, if not the general knackeredness front.

And another thing
Anyone getting a swine flu vacc?
I've booked in for later this week but my DH is a bit as it's not flu season.

raggie · 17/05/2010 17:45

Just wanted to pop in and say congrats to you all and good luck!

I was on Nov 09 antenatal thread with a lovely bunch of ladies and we are all still gabbling away over on post-natal now, when our 5-7mth old DCs will let us! Looks like your thread is just as supportive as ours, lucky you lot

Gaga82 · 17/05/2010 18:28

Don't know if it was the facial, the change of make up or just getting to 13 weeks (I got the name wrong yesterday - is Bare minerals) but there was definately an improvement, not perefect but not bag-over-head as bad as before! Was also lovely to just lie there and be pampered! It was the Elemis SOS facial, as all products were safe.

Also, anyone else joined NCT?

Katey1010 · 17/05/2010 20:56

I'm totally spotty still. Although, so is DH so maybe he has sympathetic pregnancy syptoms... I still have MS as well which is horrible. I thought it would magically stop at 12 weeks.

You are all a very bad influence (or maybe I am easily influenced). Went out on the weekend to buy pots for the garden and came back with two slings. There is one lovely one with green silk and dragonflies on it. Mmmmmm.

I was wondering about swine flu. No one has mentioned it here (Canada) and I don't know if I am supposed to bring it up.

harmonyb23 · 17/05/2010 21:11

So have you lived in Bristol all your life Babybean. I went to Henbury school but studied my degree in Bath so have been all over the place the last 4 years.

kawaiiko · 17/05/2010 22:01

Hmmsleep - wow, what a lovely shaped bump!

I keep asking my dh whether I look pregnant or not and he is still very non-committal. Tell you what though, I haven't felt this happy with my body since I was about 12 and I had a pretty tough time in my mid-twenties with an eating disorder and terrible self image. It is so liberating to celebrate rather than loathe my tummy! It's always been the part of my body I have the most problem with.

Potbellybear and champagnesupernova, welcome! Champagne I haven't thought about the flu jab yet - don't see why not though - it's just the first trimester you're supposed to avoid, no?

Katey1010 and all those with bad skin...I am both dry and spotty. Ah, the joys of pregnancy

Rinnyx · 17/05/2010 22:44

Evening all
Hope you all had a lovely weekend and Monday was not to evil to you oh and loving your scan pics ladies, mine is up in my MN gallery thing

I turned 15 weeks today and just mesured bump, so my little 26" waist is no longer and I am now the owner of a 32" waist also is anyone getting aches or pains below bump or AF type back pains? I'm not to worried as I read its normal about now due to baby growning and I have felt baby atleast 2 to 3 times each day.

Must admit I was bad the other day, I put a pram on hold in mothercare, their 6 month baby plan thing, I could not help it, its was the one I wanted and for limted time only £50 off, I can cancel it tho if I change my mind or god forbid anything happens but was exciting giving it a push around and stuff

harmonyb23 · 18/05/2010 08:00

Kawaiiko and Katey1010 my skin is actually OK this time round. I was really spotty with DS but this time my skin seems to be relatively clear, I think it probably looks better than before I got pregnant lol.

Rinny I have aches and pains similar to yours, they don't last too long but can be quite intense. Apparently they are ligament stretching pains, so nothing to worry about!

Well I am off to work this morning but get to spend the afternoon with DP. Looking forward to that!

hmmSleep · 18/05/2010 08:20

Kawaiiko, Katey1010 and others with naughty skin, mine wasn't too bad, then woke up this morning with 3 ginormous spots on my forehead and loads of little ones all over my nose! I have a wedding to attend on Saturday so am not happy.

Think I'm having a hormone surge though as very weepy again too. It's the week the baby I miscarried last year would have been due so think I'm just feeling extra emotional all around, beware anyone that winds me up the wrong way today .

Which pushchair did you go for Rinnyx?

CardiCorgi · 18/05/2010 08:40

Just catching up after a week away. I'm so sorry to see that we have lost loopymumsy and youremind me of the babe, but welcome to all of the new people.
Advantage of being pregnant - I could get out of the inevitable vodka rounds (have just got back from Russia) with a genuine excuse.

I'm spotty too - my skin has never been great, but I had been assured that being pregnant would make me glow. Ha ha, it's not happening yet. I'm on my usual Clinique anti-blemish skincare which is keeping the worst at bay.

No bump here but definitely a pot-belly and my clothes are all feeling snug. So far nobody at work seems to have noticed, but once the sun comes out and I can't hide under loose jumpers I will have to tell them. I need to work up enough courage to go and buy some scary maternity clothing, has anyone else been putting it off?

Does anyone find that coughing or sneezing really hurts their stomach muscles?

potbellybear · 18/05/2010 08:56

Has anyone told their work colleagues yet? Still just 13 weeks but have a much bigger waistline now. I was hoping to not have to say anything until I was 16 - 18 weeks, am I deluding myself that people won't notice up to that stage?

Btw CardiCorgi, every time I sneeze I rush to sit down, don't ask me why but hurts less.

Rinnyx · 18/05/2010 09:44

hmmSleep I'm sorry to hear about your lose last year, I am dreading June 6th as thats the due date of the 2nd baby I lost last year, the first sadly I never knew its due date as I lost it before I even knew about it

The pram I went for is the 'Graco Mosaic One deluxe travel system' in chocolate.
I didnt want a black pram and it has everything with it and the carseat is a very good size. I did love the my3 or 4 but not paying £500

CardiCorgi have you thought about getting afew bellybands?
I am to big to do up my bottoms now but no way would fit into preggers clothes and these are doing a treat inbetween

hmmSleep · 18/05/2010 09:55

Thanks Rinnyx, and the pushchair looks great, good price with the £50 off!

Hope you enjoyed Russia CardiCorgi. I'm still putting off buying maternity clothes, and you've all seen the size of my belly! As Rinnyx suggested, I'm just wearing my normal trousers with bump bands over the top or leggings, not sure how much longer I'll get away with that though.

Rinnyx · 18/05/2010 10:02

Thanks hmmSleep its was the first one I liked tho I looked at many more after.

I think I am going to get bottoms in peacocks cause as nice as the clothes in mothcare are they are abit costly and DP has said no more kids after this one tho 3 would be nice

Rinnyx · 18/05/2010 10:05

*mothercare I should say

Kyuri · 18/05/2010 10:27

CardiCorgi I was avoiding making any maternity purchases as I wasn't sure where to start. However, work clothes were getting just too tight so I bought a couple of pairs of smart maternity trousers (Top Shop and Gap) at the weekend and feel much more comfortable.

Sneezing hurts like hell here too!

potbellybear I still haven't spilled the beans at work yet either (16+1). I had intended to tell my boss on Friday but it was just too busy. Am now thinking I might try to grab him this afternoon so we'll see...I don't really want to leave it much later as I feel I owe him as much notice as possible.

Babybean1 · 18/05/2010 10:39

Yep lived in Bristol all my life Harmony. Went to Monks Park School and then worked from there. Only lived in Patchway since buying our house 4 years ago, and lived in Horfield before that. Are you on Facebook??

Kawaiiko i think its lovely your able to enjoy your bump.....i am too! Its a bit odd to have something there that i cant 'breath in'tho

I had the swine flu jab last year as i worked with vulnerable adults and was classed in an at risk group, so dont have to think about whether to have it or not fortunately. I think i would go for it now tho if i had to decide.

potbelly i told work really early as i felt really rubbish and thought it would excuse some of my horrid behaviour!!
Am 15+6 now and really couldnt hide if if i wanted to!! Will your work be supportive??

Have bought maternity maturity clothes (after trawling round the shops for hours much to DH delight!!) to find some more that are comfy! I got some lovely jeans in next and some great linen trousers in H&M which i think i will be living in for a while! It is just me or do most of the clothes seem so unfashionable and ugly??!

Loving the pram Rinny Bargain as well!

potbellybear · 18/05/2010 11:17

Hi Babybean1, I think they will be very supportive it's just the fear of something going wrong I suppose, and of course there is still a long way to go.

llandb · 18/05/2010 11:23

Hello, can I please join?

Have an almost 23-month DD and due with this one on 20 Nov.

But there's a chance I'll be having a planned CS, so might be earlier. Won't know for sure till I see the hopefully nice consultant bloke. The first one I was booked to see looked like a lush, but he cancelled and I've been re-booked with someone who looks like a spiv. Note shortage of non-lush, non-spiv, female consultants.

Having to buy more maternity clothes as I'm two sizes bigger than last time around

Less plagued with morning sickness than last time and hoping it doesn't go to 7 months this time. But still plagued enough that looking at the screen is not much fun.

Erm, think that's all!

Babybean1 · 18/05/2010 11:27

I thought the same at the beginning potbelly but thought that if something went/goes wrong (dont like to think of it as 'goes' now but guess it could happen at anytime) Then i wouldnt be able to be myself anyway and would take some time off i would imagine so people would probably know anyway.

For me it was just easier with Scan appointments etc instead of having to make up something for where i was going

The ony thing i did struggle with was the guy i work with thought it was funny to hint to everyone (in the very early stages before scan etc) which i found really really annoying as it was my news to tell, and i was also still very cautious at that stage! Men hey!!
