Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Hello to rinny and ceasar - I've added you both to the list.

Lorelai I have my finger crossed for you. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend

I'm becoming more and more convinced that I can feel movement, even though I'm only 13 weeks and it's my first. I can feel occasional flutters when I'm sitting really still and it's in totally the wrong place to be wind. Even if it is wind I'm just telling myself that it is baby

Lorelai · 14/05/2010 06:15

Thanks for the good wishes guys. I'm not sure how much time/Internet access I will have over the weekend (going to the NCT Conference!) so probably won't be around much, but will let you know how my scan goes on Wednesday.

OP posts:
b00kw0rm · 14/05/2010 09:34

Welcome to rinny and ceasar and well done on the good scans to headless blondecat and mumcha! Headless- seems like you've got a good case for pushing for CVS, so hope the committee agrees!
Lorelai- fingers crossed it's nothing, especially as it doesn't sound like you've had cramping too? Seems like you've got plenty to distract you till Wednesday...
I think I might have felt baby moving a bit in the past few days (15 weeks today), but wouldn't want to say for certain! Didn't feel DD definitely moving till at least 20 weeks though.
Not in maternity clothes here and if anything, feel less bloated than in the first trimester! Bump is growing, but I think because I'm tall, there's plenty of room to grow inside before it pops out. (Am wearing a summery skirt with an elasticated waist today though !)
Love to all, x

Rinnyx · 14/05/2010 09:42

Thanks bunnygirl80

I am still in 2 minds to if them little bubbles last night were baby but I swear I felt one more later that evening when sitting on the sofa but nothing since.

Went looking at maternity clothes yesterday but dont think I will buy in mothercare, it seems so costly and thankfully we have a peacocks under it with some just as nice clothes and alot cheaper, maternity bottoms are about £16.
For now tho I got a 2 pack of bump bands to tie me over

Hope everyone is doing well x

4madboys · 14/05/2010 09:58

bump bands are fab, i lived in them in my last pregnancy, i just wore my normal jeans with a hair bobble through the top button and then a bump band to cover that up!

RINNY have you now on fb my family etc dont know so i am also not mentioning the pregnancy of fb!

Rinnyx · 14/05/2010 10:04

ok 4madboys we can both be ninjas on FB about our Nov babies

Any pics I post now I better make sure are boobs and up only haha x

ceasar04 · 14/05/2010 10:20

Morning all, thanks for the lovely welcome
Yes Fenouille its been a bit of a struggle but I am def on the up now, going back to work on 24th May on a fit to work note so will be doing reduced hours which is brilliant as the drugs make me drowsy so don't reckon I could do a full day without a 2 hour sleep!!
That could just be 1st trimester tiredness though.

BTW I am 33 years old for the stats

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 14/05/2010 10:26

Just to say so sorry youremindmeofthebabe. I wish you lots of strength for this hard time. THinking of you and your partner.

Welcome ceasar!

Congrats to all on the successful scans.

No news here - certainly no movement (only 14 weeks) and still a bit of nausea some evenings, but hopefully all's well.

nomoremagnolia · 14/05/2010 10:47

youremindmeofthebabe so sorry I hope the next two weeks don't drag on too long, the same thing happened to my DSis and we were all heartbroken.
I am deperate to feel baby but as it's no1 I doubt I will for a while, I was toying with the idea of buying a doppler but there seem to be very mixed reviews on them. Maybe I should just be patient I feel I am not as bloated/fat/pg looking as I was, which has also made me worry that baby isn't growing properly, but my sensible side is telling me it's just a lack of bloatedness as the 'bump' at 12/13 weeks wasn't solid baby but more flabby tummy. I can definitely feel the solid lump of the uterus now, just below my bellybutton, whereas before it was hidden uder the flab even though the flab made me look more pg at 13 weeks than I do now at 16!

Booboobedoo · 14/05/2010 10:51

Hope you're holding up ok Lorelai.

Welcome ceasar04. I had a similar experience to you in my first pregnancy, but am much better this time round, so there is hope (if you decide you can bear to risk it again). Good luck going back to work.

I've been in maternity clothes since about week 8/9, and am very obviously pregnant at 15+3. I'm quite short-bodied with a narrow-ish ribcage, so that may be why I show so soon.

Have a nice day everyone.

Rinnyx · 14/05/2010 11:15

I know alot of people have just had or soon to have their first scan but anyone got their 2nd scan date already?
Mine was booked soon as I came out of the scan room, June 25th, I cant wait and hope baby will play nice and let us see if its a he or she

SomethingSuitablyWitty is this your first?
I am only thinking I may of felt baby movement as this is #2 tho I am not 100% sure as its been 8 yrs x

Kyuri · 14/05/2010 11:22

Keeping everything crossed Lorelai

Welcome to the newbies and great news on the scans. Delighted to hear that you still have 2 buns Headless! Good luck with CVS decision.

Fenouille loving the term "maturity" clothes

Having started to pay attention to any bubbles/flutters, I think I am feeling them although it could just be wishful thinking.

I had planned to tell my boss today but am getting cold feet. I figured that everyone's in a good mood on a Friday but we've had lots of work come in from the US overnight so today is going to be a busy one. Perhaps I'll just leave it until next Friday ......

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

hmmSleep · 14/05/2010 12:41

Keeping everything crossed for you Lorelai.

Welcome to the thread ceasar04! Kawaiiko, I should be in maternity clothes, but am struggling on for now! Went to look for trousers last week as now only fit into my leggings and a pair of too big jeans my Mum bought me for christmas. Couldn't find anything I liked on the hightstreet, so need to order some online I think.

In fact, I have such a bump now I've had several comments along the lines of 'Are you sure it's not twins?' and 'So, how far are you now, about 5 months?' . I'm telling myself it's because I'm quite short, although it does seem twice as big in the evening as in the morning!

Rinnyx They gave me 2nd scan date when I had my first scan too, 17th June.

blondecat · 14/05/2010 12:58

Fenouille maybe you can remind DH about Daddy Sarko's cleaner tax incentive?
I seem to remeber you could get some cheques to pay cleaners etc tax free....

Fenouille · 14/05/2010 13:06

Rinny I have to book my own but I've been told to do it for around the 21st June. I'm a week ahead of you but France seems to do stuff differently anyway.

Kyuri My maturity levels seen to be descending at the rate my bump is growing And I'm definitely feeling bubbles that (don't) pass the fart test bunny and have been for a few weeks even though it is early. I wouldn't have known what to look out for if it hadn't been for Loopy, madboys, Booboo, mumcha and all you other experienced mums, so thanks for that. Oh mumcha, did you get your face pain sorted out?

We had a look at prams this morning and I think we're going to go for the Bebe Comfort High Trek. It's pretty heavy but I'm big and strong! It's very manoeuvrable and and their clip system was the easiest we tried. We'll probably buy the car seat (incl. car fixation board) and cot off friends. We now just need to work out the cheapest country/shop to get it from!

Fenouille · 14/05/2010 13:16

Blondcat Daddy Sarko? Is it your DH who's French?

There are cheques (CESU) you can buy to pay for home services (cleaners, nannies, etc.) and part of that is tax free (but then you have to pay NI and respect working time legislation, etc.). My colleagues seem divided as to whether its cheaper (more tax efficient) to go black or stay legal. I think most work places also give you a discount on the vouchers. Ours does anyway. Something else I need to look into

You can also apparently hire electric milk pumps for "free" (if your private health insurance covers the excess) instead of having to buy one.

Welcome to socialist heaven

comtessa · 14/05/2010 14:06

Dear all, well I was on the December thread, but apparently 27th November is the NHS estimate, so hello fellow Novemberinas. SO relieved to be over the MS! Hope you are all getting over it too.

xx

Rinny I also booked my next scan straight after my scan on Wednesday. Am booked in for the 5th of July.

As for maternity clothes, I have purchased some from Mothercare but have yet to wear them. Everyone I have told about the pregnancy so far have said that they don't think I look particularly pregnant but I feel I have a bit of a bump! I bought maternity clothes that look pretty much the same as my normal clothes (no over-bump stuff) I thought this would be good for early pregnancy. I think I am going to have to buy some black trousers with an elasticated waistband soon though as my work trousers are very snug now!

I have finally told everyone now, as I wanted to wait until after the 12 week (which turned out to be 13 week) scan. Feels so good to have it out in the open as I was getting fed up of having to talk around the subject when around people who I had not yet told.

Hope everyone is well and I hope things turn out alright for Lorelai.

hmmSleep · 14/05/2010 14:31

Welcome to November Comtessa

rollerbaby · 14/05/2010 15:18

Hi Comtessa welcome. Was just reading your homebirth thread somewhere else... I'm in same position. Going to look into it and potentially transfer hospitals to get the cover of my local community midwives. I've experienced a lot of negativity from people I've spoken to (none of whom has actually given birth themselves) but the people who have done it, rave about it. It seems really sensible to me and if you live near a hosp, why not?

Good luck with your research.

Fenouille · 14/05/2010 15:46

Hello Comtessa

ceasar04 · 14/05/2010 16:37

hi Comtessa welcome. I'm EDD 30th Nov so was deliberating which thread to be in!!
Oo just got my scan letter for next Friday ...tis exciting

Booboobedoo This is my 2nd preg and I too had HG with DS1 but seems worse if anything this time round .

Not sure if its due to the exhausting toddler or its just worse. Deciding to have another was always the plan but had to do lots of "I'll be fine this time..." etc... to steel myself for it!! Obv it wasn't but I am def more knowledgable this time round so know its not normal to thrown up 15 times a day and got signed off straught away and have pushed for drugs which are working well, taking metoclopramide and its like a miracle. Am almost back to old self

I'n not in maternity yet as I have lost weight (the ONLY upside to the sickness) so clothes still fit me for now although bump has just popped out over the last few days which is lovley. Have tried a few things on a bouth a couple of items online..
I found South stuff on very.co.uk really reasonably priced and styish. Always like H & M too.

Am tempted to do some online shopping again now...

4madboys · 14/05/2010 17:23

weclome to the newbies

for those worrying about dates and threads, i am pretty sure this baby will actually turn up in december as mine have all been two weeks late! but my due date is nov so i shall stick wiht the nov thread.

i just had to PAY 50p for a wee specimin bottle, went to gps to get one and they were closed, at 4pm!! so went to chemist and they charge 50p! said i need it as i have my scan etc on monday and the letter says to bring a urine sample. 50p for a pot to piss in, how nice

JFly · 14/05/2010 18:27

Been lurking a while as have been so nervous about today's scan. But, good news, all is well. Just have to wait for combined test results in two weeks.

Only a day or two out, so new EDD is November 30th. Like you, 4madboys, I'm sure it will be December, but will stick with you all if that's cool!

Feel a bit of relief now and looking forward to telling my family.

JFly · 14/05/2010 18:29

Oh, and 4mad, don't they have pots when you arrive at hospital/midwife? They do where I am, so I never turn up with a sample, I just wait until I arrive at appt.
