Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Congrats funbun on your promotion! What great news.

Haha at Booboo! I get a kind of bubbly feeling deep down which I assume is it, although the fart test did confirm indigestion earlier

I'm off for a long weekend now, but these last couple of weeks have been awful at work I had a melt down at my boss on Tuesday (he did apologise later) and I'm just so tired. Really happy to have a long weekend, but am I the only one stressing because I'm feeling stressed and know I shouldn't be? I feel crazy! Sorry to vent.

On a more positive note we did go the other evening and look at a car seat and travel cot that friends are getting rid of. I really don't know what to do for the best. Even second hand stuff is stupidly expensive here, and to buy the wheels that go with the cot and seat of our friends it's going to be crazy expensive. After the rave reviews on this thread I'm keen on a Maclaren Techno but I don't know if we've got enough room to store all this extra stuff! Do any of you have any experience of the Bebe Comfort brand?

4madboys · 13/05/2010 17:57

fenouille i have a bebe comfort loola which is good but a bit on the heavy side, its my sort of spare pushchair, great that the seat can face forward or backwards which i like and cozy enough and lies flat enough for a newborn without having to buy the carrycot, it is good that you can attach the carseat on it, tho i never did. it was great to have as a spare for in the car as it folds up relatively compactly and is easy to put up/down.

tbh the only problem with is was the weight, i know lots of people with them who dont find it a problem, but i am small only 5 2 and have BIG babies, who grow into big heavy toddlers, so really need a lightweight buggy!

maclarens are good,i have one of them as well but imo they are great for toddlers, say from 12mths onwards but i am really put of using them as a main pushchair as the baby cant face towards you, which i feel is really important when they are little and again i dont think they are as padded and cosy etc for newborn, tho they do now do special soft carrycot type insert? also they arent great on rough ground, ie little or no suspension and small wheels so ahard to push and baby will get a bumpy ride. for round town etc they are good, lightweight, easy to fold, compact etc for car boots. oh i always found with mine that the shopping basket is a bit small and tricky to get to if you have the seat lying flat ie for a newborn or a sleeping older baby.

sorry thats a bit long! your best bet is to try some out and have a think about what you will be doing, walking, using bus, car etc.

so i am now 12wks and i have my dating scan next monday morning and my nuchal scan on the tuesday evening, feeling more nervous, still pukey, so thats a good sign, fingers crossed all will be ok.

Mibby · 13/05/2010 18:59

Have to admit we've started buying stuff now, officially its to 'spread the cost' but I cant resist all the tiny cute things

Have a bouncing seat thing and a steriliser too, on the slightly practical side

Rinnyx · 13/05/2010 19:45

Hi everyone, abit late as only just found this.

Rinnyx, 27, EDD 8th November

I am 14 and half weeks tomorrow with #2 (we already have a daughter who is 8 in Sept)
We had our first scan Friday and was over the moon to see everything was ok and baby even moved a little, was shocked to find that my EDD that was 19th Nov is now Nov 8th.

But still glad everything is ok as sadly I had 2 m/c last year, DP was grinning ear to ear after the scan and waiting to get our pic and babys EDD is now only 3 days after DP 30th B-day x

Rinnyx · 13/05/2010 19:50

Oh also a long shot but any Norwich or Norfolk mums here? x

Booboobedoo · 13/05/2010 20:03

See, now I'm picturing all of you trumping away with expressions of serious concentration...

Booboobedoo · 13/05/2010 20:04

(Welcome Rinnyx btw. London Mum here!).

4madboys · 13/05/2010 20:08

RINNY i am in norwich, just off ipswich road if you know it? welcome to the thread and congrats on your pregnancy, you are two weeks ahead of me.

as my name suggests i have 5 boys, one of whom will be 8 in july, so similar age to your dd

where in norwich/norfolk are you?

4madboys · 13/05/2010 20:09

err that should be FOUR boys, i am preg with no 5 obviously dont know the sex as its too early! typos as i am trying to get littles madboy to bed and tidy up, make pack lunches etc for school tomorrow, oh and sort out YELLOW clothes as they are having a yellow day at school

Rinnyx · 13/05/2010 20:14

Hi Booboobedoo and 4madboys, I'm over old catton way.
My DD goes to catton grove school x

4madboys · 13/05/2010 20:31

ah you are not far away at all then! my eldest three boys go to eaton primary school, tho my eldest who is ten, starts at CNS high school in sept

hmmSleep · 13/05/2010 20:41

Great scan news blondecat and mumcha!

Congrats on promotion funbun, and welcome to Rinnyx.

Rinnyx · 13/05/2010 20:44

Small world haha
We might of crossed paths in the city and not known

Oh random but not sure if I am imagining things but I swear I just felt 2 or 3 small kind of like bubbles popping in my belly, could it be baby even tho I am only in my 14th week?

I forget what it was like as its been 8 years

Lorelai · 13/05/2010 20:51

Crap. Went to the loo earlier and there was brown blood with a couple of small clots when I wiped. My scan is booked for next wed so I guess it's going to be a very long 6 days

OP posts:
4madboys · 13/05/2010 20:52

that may well be the baby moving rinny, i am just twelve and a bit weeks but the past few days have felt tiny fluttry bubble type feelings, they say you feel subsequent babies earlier, i def felt my last two at around 14 wks! it prob is too early for me to be feeling this one at 12 and a bit weeks, but you never know.

i am sarahrebecca pearson on facebook, are you on fb? if so you can add me if you like

Rinnyx · 13/05/2010 21:02

Lorelai I keep my fingers crossed for you and hope everything is ok x

Oh 4madboys I will go add you now and leave you a message so you know its me hehe
But just to let you know I am not saying anything on my FB as I dont want my family to know other than my parents, long story but no one likes one person to be pregnant on their own so someone has to copy as childish as that sounds

Wha so excited if it is baby and I'm not just going mad haha x

ceasar04 · 13/05/2010 21:08

Hello there, hoping to join this thread... a bit last minute!

I have been very sick with hyperemesis and been off work/in hospital but now I am on some brilliant drugs which are sorting me out and feeling much better so decided to join this thread as I can now actually post more than a few lines in the HG support thread!

Congrats to you all and glad you have had lovely scans, still not got a date for mine yet, late booking in with midwife due all puking/hospital visits etc but did have one in hosp (to check for twins...its not!!) and saw heartbeat at 9+2 so hopefully all is well which makes me I am 11+2 today, its my 2nd pg (DS 22 months) so EDD of 30th Nov

Haven't read the whole thread but was very sorry to read about those of you who have suffered mcs , hope you are all managing to cope with your losses.

Re the pram thing we bought a Quinny travel system which was great for us until DS was about 18 months. Then we bought a 3 wheeler Petite Star, DS likes it because he is sat quite far forward but can also go totally flat for napping which I like! Is very small when folded up too. Only fault is its a bit awkward to fold up but ok once you have the knack.

Looking forward to much chat with you all..
C x

ceasar04 · 13/05/2010 21:16

Lorelai - Sorry to see your post - hope bleeding stops . It might be worth a visit to GP see if they can refer you to EPU or ring to move your scan date forward? Worth a try??

I had some bleeding with DS, implantation bleed early on and then a couple of times more before 20 weeks so its not always bad news. Keeping fingers crossed for you x

Fenouille · 13/05/2010 21:29

Lorelai fingers crossed it's just a one off.

Hello Rinny and Ceasar. Sounds like you had a pretty tough time Ceasar - hope that you're on the up now?

Thanks for all the pram advice madboys and the others of you we're planning to go and have a look at some tomorrow. We're busy price comparing between here, UK and Germany as everything seems twice as expensive here so we're testing out here and then will probably buy on-line.

HeadlessLadyH · 13/05/2010 21:39

youremindme so sorry to see your news. Take care of yourself, and go do all those things you couldn't do whilst pg like drink cocktails and have a jacuzzi. At the same time.

lorelei am keeping everything crossed for you. Could you ring your EPU and self refer? Don't sit and wait for your scan if you are worried.

It feels a bit wrong now to tell you that we saw 2 heart beats and 2 baby shaped beans today. I was literally shaking before we went in and practically cried with relief when the sonographer said there were 2 still there.

Not sure now whether we will get our CVS though. OUr PCT changed their policy only 4 weeks ago when they introduced combined testing for Downs rather than just the straight NT scan. Apparantly it is now accepted nationally that the NT scan alone is not a test that they now say is up to National Standards, so combined testing is the way forward. However for a twin pregnancy they cannot do combined testing as the blood tests cannot be relied upon. Although for single pregnancies, the combined test is very good and so our PCT have removed the maternal choice for the invasive tests. Leaves us with just the NT which is now accepted is not reliable. So our consultant will present our case to the scan committee (or something) to see if our twin pregnancy means we can go straight for CVS. We will find out next Weds.

Sorry if that makes no sense!

Hello to rinny and caesar.

Can't add much to the pushchair debate. We had Mutsys with both DSs and a Mclaren too. God knows what we will end up with for these two!

Lorelai · 13/05/2010 21:42

Well it seems to have stopped for now so will keep my fingers crossed. Won't worry about calling GP etc as we are going away tomorrow and won't be back till tues evening. Will be v busy so hopefully won't think about it too much.

kawaiiko · 13/05/2010 22:18

Evening all

Sorry to hear about recent losses

Lorelai I have my fingers crossed for you [hug]

Fenouille, at 16 and a bit weeks I have been finding that I have good days and bad ones - feeling exhausted and teary etc. Have found that spatone iron supplements are helping with the the tiredness - not sure there's any cure for the tearyness, though - apart from having the baby! Are you or HmmSleep in maternity clothes yet? I had to make the switch on Monday - got a proper belly going on now!

We have decided to get a cleaner for the next few months. My inlaws gave us some money as a pre-baby gift so a bit will go towards some mat clothes and the rest to the cleaner. Bliss! The flat is an utter, utter pigsty.

Fenouille · 13/05/2010 23:12

Hi Kawaiiko I've been in maturity trousers for 3 weeks now I have to be smart for work and I just couldn't keep holding in my stomach any longer! They're all under bump ones though so don't look very maternity IYSWIM and I'm still in normal tops for the most part. I'm starting to look more baby than fat now

I'm jealous about the cleaner though - DH refuses to discuss the idea as he thinks she'd spend her time going through his underwear drawer rather then cleaning the bathroom He does do most of the cleaning to be fair, so I've put that discussion on the back burner until after the baby arrives.

And thanks for your kind words. I seem to be coping with stress a lot worse than before and don't seem to be able to relax. It's nice (not really, but you know...) to know I'm not the only one. Roll on the holidays!

Fenouille · 13/05/2010 23:18

It sounds like a good plan Lorelai - hopefully a busy weekend will take your mind off the worry. So I hope you have a nice one x

Fenouille · 13/05/2010 23:20

Maturity? Maternity of course! (Although I wish they would make me more mature )
