Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

So sorry to see loopy's news, and I think its been so long since I posted on here that there has been another loss too. Am so sad to see these. Its so heartbreaking. Hope you are being taken care of.

I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with the consultant and I assume it will involve a scan too. I have decided not to have the NT scan (if they are still there - I have to keep saying this as with my history of mc I need to remain pessimistic at the moment) and go straight for CVS. I've probably mentionned this before. We had odds of 1 in 29 with DS2 and the 5 days between the NT, CVS and results were just awful so I would rather not know what my odds are and just know yes or no all is ok ( or not). So again, if both heartbeats are there, I assume I'll be having this chat with the consultant tomorrow too. I am now getting really really scared about the scan.

youremindmeofthebabe · 12/05/2010 16:03

Not good scan news here i am afraid. Suspected mmc, but the hospital will confirm in 2 weeks.
They are measuring sac at 7 weeks, and couldn't find a heartbeat.

So, so sad.I just feel empty. Good luck to you all for november, and take very good care of you and yours.

PrivetDancer · 12/05/2010 16:11

so sorry youremindmeofthebabe that's just horrible, and a long time you have to wait.

I can't believe how many people this is happening to

good luck with your scan, headlessladyH

shoppingstar · 12/05/2010 16:29

sorry to hear your sad news youremindmeofthebabe

take care

applegirl · 12/05/2010 16:30

So sorry to hear your news youremindmeofthebabe so sad

hmmsleep and privetdancer thanks for the advice on the EDD - I think as my cycles are usually 30 days, I can take my EDD and add a couple of days, which pretty much measures up to the scan date. I don't expect the baby to arrive on the EDD anyway (although 10.11.10 would be a pretty cool birthdate, albeit a little binary as my DH has said!!)

applegirl · 12/05/2010 16:31

Welcome to the november club shoppingstar and congratulations

hmmSleep · 12/05/2010 16:32

That is very sad news youremindmeofthebabe, I think until people have been through it they don't realise just how upsetting it is. Take care of yourself and get lots of cuddles from your family.

umf · 12/05/2010 17:32

Oh no, so sorry to hear that youremindmeofthebabe. Thinking of you and your family.

There's been a hell of a mc rate on this thread, hasn't there? Especially mmc. I guess lots of us end up here because of previous problems, so not a representative sample, but it makes me realise how much of this mostly hidden grief there is around.

Booboobedoo · 12/05/2010 17:45

youremindmeofthebabe - so very sorry.

We do seem to have a very high number of losses on this thread. It was nothing like this on my last antenatal thread - I think we had maybe five losses in total.

It's just so sad - and makes me feel very fortunate that (afaik) baby's still in there.

Gave in and told DS about the baby today.

He's very excited, and says it will be a boy and it's name will be Baby.

hmmSleep · 12/05/2010 18:04

If you look at statistics one in five pregnancies sadly ends in miscarriage, so with the large number on this thread it was unfortunately going to happen to quite a large number of us, doesn't make it any less sad though .

applegirl · 12/05/2010 18:22

It is incredibly sad. Having been ttc for several years, it makes me even more conscious of just how fragile pregnancy is once you are lucky enough to conceive.

Fenouille · 12/05/2010 18:38

So sorry to hear Loopy and youremindme's bad news Loopy in particular has given some wonderful advice. Look after yourself girls

harmonyb23 · 12/05/2010 19:17

So sorry to hear your news Youremindme but I wish you all the best for the future.

Good scan news here, saw the baby. Measured 13 weeks exactly. It was doing a little dance and looked really healthy. So excited now I know that everything is OK. Got 3 pictures as well .

Hope everyone else is OK... x x x

funbun · 12/05/2010 20:49

Successful scan last week. Measuring for 18/11/10 so was pretty spot on for LMP. Bean did a little wave and a wriggle.

Most amazing news is that I've secured a promotion at work starting in September even though I'll be leaving the job in November for a least 7-8 months. Really pleased, never tjought I'd get it.

bunnygirl80 · 12/05/2010 23:14

So sorry for your loss youremindme

Congrats to those who had good news.

funbun congrats on your promotion at work.

Booboobedoo · 13/05/2010 10:04

Forgot to say the other day (to Kyuri and others), I finally got round to going bra-shopping and completely bottled out of getting measured.

Bloody pregnancy gets me so hormonal and tearful, and I knew I'd burst into humiliating tears if I was refused an underwired bra, so I just did it myself.

Completely incapable of practising what I preach, y'see.

Got a couple of Freya undrewired sports bras which fit beautifully and are very supportive. Gone from a 34D to a 38D. (Was a 30DD before my first pregnancy - sigh).

Still feeling lots of movement from Baby. Anyone else?

hmmSleep · 13/05/2010 10:20

Haven't felt any movement yet Booboobedoo, and I'm 16 weeks now, my placenta is at the front though which I think makes it harder to feel the baby when it's still so small.

I'm finding all bras uncomfortable, but then always do, as soon as I'm home I whip them off, I'm going to have very saggy breasts.

umf · 13/05/2010 11:46

Went to Bravissimo armed with slightly defensive attitude, but the girl didn't blink when I said I wanted underwires for when my ego needed extra support. Had been planning to get something a bit more fun, but ended up with Freya Rio as always.

Lots of movement here, especially in the evenings. Only 12 weeks so possibly officially shouldn't be feeling it, but definitely foetus. Could feel DS1 from 14 weeks. Guess it's the combination of a very still, lazy mummy and a crazy hyper daddy giving his genes to the dcs.

mumcha · 13/05/2010 11:53

hi all well im just back from my scan amd everything is all going well im measuring correct for dates 14 wk 6 days the little baby ws waving and flipping .

Kyuri · 13/05/2010 12:21

So sad to read the news from Loopymumsy and Youremindme

I haven't felt any movement yet, am amazed and jealous of those of you who have! Am 15+3 and thought it wouldn't be till about 20 weeks when I felt anything so haven't really been paying close attention. When you say you "feel" movement - what does it feel like? As a first-timer this is yet another thing that is completely new

Anyone else still feeling a little nauseous in the mornings at 15+ weeks? It's definitely way better than it was in the first trim but not gone away entirely.

Good job on the bra shopping boo!

rollerbaby · 13/05/2010 12:28

Sorry to hear your news Youremindme. Take care.

Mumcha lovely that all was well. I loved seeing mine flipping and touching it's toes, so surreal.

Booboo you are lucky to be feeling the baby - I can't work out if I can feel anything or not. Could be wind for all I know.

Headless good luck with your appointment, I'm sure it will all be ok.

I had my 16 week checkup yesterday... all fine other than iron levels on the low side of normal... Not sure if this is something I need to worry about. Had a bacon sarnie for breakfast!

Booboobedoo · 13/05/2010 12:35

Think you feel usually feel movement earlier if it's not your first pregnancy - although that may be more to do with remembering how it felt last time.

I think first-timers usually feel movement at around 20 weeks (if I recall), and often much later.

At this stage it feels to me like a diorhoea-squirmy feeling, but lower down. I find it both unpleasant and thrilling!

If you feel this, and you think it might be wind, try having a good fart and see if it's still there.

Kyuri - I'm still sick. Had a couple of days off over the weekend, but started the day with my head over the loo this morning, and threw up in the park a couple of days ago. I'm 15+2 (or 3).

Kyuri · 13/05/2010 12:57

PMSL at your advice to have a good fart Boo, think that's one to try after I've left the office for the day

Will be looking out for the diarrhoea-type gurgly/swirly feelings.

rollerbaby · 13/05/2010 14:07

Right, will try that when I get home...

blondecat · 13/05/2010 14:38

youremindmeofthebabe I am so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself.

We breathed a sigh of relief this morning on seeing the little monster waving and kicking about in the scan. I was so happy I started crying. Then had a bit of a freak-out as the doctor faffed around with nuchal measurements but in the end all was fine. 2 arms, 2 leg, 1 butterfly shaped brain. Timed me exactly at 12+5 so still due on 24 Nov.
I am so relieved.

Off to see the consultant tonight. To be honest I slightly regret not having gone for midwife care. I feel he rushes through things. But it may just be that he has seen all this a thousand times and for us it's baby No 1, also known as the centre of the universe. Oh well.

Will now start seriously looking at doulas, nannies etc. I don't know what's it like in other parts of the UK but here in London I was told I should start booking/ interviewing now. A friend told me there is even a nursery that I would miss out on - need to register at 12 weeks so I am 5 days late!
Honestly, it's a crazy world out there.
