Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Glad to hear lots more good news!
Have a good holiday, tiany, hope that spotting stops asap.

I'm planning on working as long as I can, within reason. I stopped 3 weeks before due date last time and dd was 1 week late. I certainly enjoyed the time off but I wanted it back x100 when it was time to go back to work! I'll aim for stopping 2 weeks before due date this time I think, I only have to go in to London twice a week nowadays so hopefully it won't be too bad. My boss is very understanding so I can work from home if I need to and I guess if it gets too much closer to the time I could stop sooner.

I am planning on working quite late as well - due date 29th Nov, planning on my last day being the 21st. Am I mad? Probably, but that way, I won't have to go back to work till after Christmas (52 weeks mat leave plus 5 weeks hol), and DH will be able to take his 6 months (paid!!) leave almost straight away (he is entitled to it from Sept next year but I am persuading him to wait to take it till I go back to work so we have another 6 months of not needing childcare ) In my defense though, my job is a very low stress desk job, and although I do commute into London every day I always get a seat on the train (and towards the end I will be able to sit in 1st class if not), and it is only 3 stops on the tube.

And pushchairs - only 1 child, 2 pushchairs (M&P Aria travel system and Chicco buggy which we have used since about 18 months as it is so much smaller and lighter), but I am planning to buy another one

Forgot to say, the only reason I am not working right up until my due date is that DH happens to have the last week booked as hol anyway, so I might as well be off then with him. I really am mad aren't I?

1 child, 1 pushchair and not planning on buying another!

bunnygirl80 · 11/05/2010 00:07

Loopy I'm glad your mw was sympathetic. 9 pushchairs for 3 children

I'm starting to think I must be deluded for assuming one would be enough to see us through until they're walking everywhere

Congrats to those with good scan news. My pics are crystal clear but baby has its hand by its face with the fingers outstretched so that on the pics it looks like it has a little trunk! People will think I'm having an elephant baby

I'm planning on working until around 32 weeks I think. My job is 500kms away from where I live and I do not want to risk going into early labour so far from home. Also, dentistry is pretty harsh on your back and I will need to be able to reach my patients around my bump

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/05/2010 07:40

Looopy -- I think there are people awaiting the baby jogger select over on the pushchair topic so it might be worth waiting to see what they say.

Pushchairs - we bought a Maclaren XLR which would have been fine from birth to whenever but I got a case of the "i wants" and bought a baby jogger mini when DS was about 18months. I am not sure I will need a buggy as DS will be 2.4 when this one is born but am going to keep an eye on ebay and see if I can pick up a very old/battered phil and teds for a tenner or something just in case, looks won't matter as long as it's safe.

mumcha · 11/05/2010 09:22

hi all well after going to the dentist yesterday and being told there was no abcsess i have woke up my right eye is near enough swollen shut and that side of my face is really swollen to.so have doc appointment at 4.30.

shipsladyg · 11/05/2010 09:56

I've just about persuaded DH that a three wheeled jogger is not that practical for getting about in London - and besides, the name implies that I would be active... jogging?.... Me? I really cannot see me out with the Running Mummies in Greenwich Park... well, not until they go for tea & cake afterwards. Plus, I observe that no-one uses a 3 wheeler on a London bus/train/tube (just too big); they're very heavy for getting in and out the car or getting up the hills we have around our house, and not that easy to steer around smaller shops. Oh - and I don't do punctures. So, as nice as they are, I think I'll leave the 3-wheelers to the Blackheath set with their Chelsea Tractors.

I bought a Silvercross 3D travel system off e-bay instead. £63 instead of £350. The woman selling it had found out she was having a girl and wanted a pink pram/buggy instead... More fool her. DH wasn't that impressed when he found out I'd got it - but having spoken to his man chums with babies, he's decided it's OK as one bloke described it as "the landrover of buggies" and all the other blokes said that no matter what we get, we'll end up with a Maclaren within six months anyway!!! At least in the meantime, we've got an infant carrier and a easy to get about pram and it didn't cost us the earth.

We've already eyed up our third buggy... one of those bike trailers that converts into a buggy. Looks ideal for our camping expeditions and DH likes cycling lots so this may be the thing that slows him down enough for me to keep up with him!!!

And... just to sound like Loopymumsy's stalker even more , she was the one who introduced me to buying baby stuff like buggies from e-bay and I did follow her tip about testing the buggy steering with a weight in it. Sound advice. Listen to Loopymumsy the unofficial Doula. She knows!...

Wow- there's always so much to catch up with! Well done to clueless and witty for your good scans- clueless, they also told me to expect more bleeding, which was reassuring in a way, but I then wanted to know when and how much which they couldn't answer!
nomore- I left work 2 weeks before due date with DD and found it was about right for me... I was just starting to get bored when she arrived (40+2). BUT a lot of my decision was due to the fact that because I hadn't been working there long, I would only be entitled to Maternity Allowance, so money was a key factor in my decision, which it sounds like isn't for you?
I agree with privet re: pushchairs, we have 1 DC and 1 pushchair and not planning on buying anymore... maybe that's because it's a Maclaren Techno as recommended by booboo and loopymumsy ! Also, am just planning on buying more slings instead, so I'm certainly not feeling smug

Good luck to all those with scans today!

applegirl · 11/05/2010 11:39

Wow - loads to catch up on!

Lovely to hear all the sling/pram chat going on - most useful

Well, I have bought some maternity jeans today - can't fit any of my jeans anymore, and really can't spend the next 6 months in tracksuit trousers or leggings. Really chuffed. They are so nice I may carry on wearing them after baby is born too!

DH has his first day of freedom from the rat race today as he has now left his well paid job so we can move back home to Somerset and take over his parents farm! All very exciting, and a bit scary not having a regular income - but we have lots of plans, so it should be fine

Great to hear of more good news scans - good luck to anyone who has one today x x x

Booboobedoo · 11/05/2010 11:55

Well, one child, three buggies . Bugaboo Chameleon, cheapest MacLaren (which doesn't recline so is a pain if LO sleeps in the day) and then the next one up, which does.

Feeling good still, but threw up in the park on the way home from the GP this morning. Not my finest moment, but at least I managed to do it in a bag. (DS: "Well done for catching it in the bag, Mummy". He's very good at positive reinforcement).

I feel your pain, mumcha - although yours sounds worse than mine. The gum all round my Wisdom Tooth has swollen (probably due to to non-brushing caused by pregnancy sickness). Been up in the night with it for three nights now, and off to the dentist this afternoon.

Also, I've got a rash all over my trunk. Went to the docs just in case (DS has just had Roseola), but they think all is well.

Have a nice day everyone.

cluelessnchaos · 11/05/2010 12:39

Well the news has broken in chaos land, kids have gone into school with scan pics for show and tell and I have been inundated by phonecalls and facebook messages, the kids arent even out of school but thanks to the academy kids and their mobile phones the news is spreading like wildfire.

Vix7 · 11/05/2010 15:21

booboodeboo, grapefruit and ginger sound REALLY good to me now.

I haven't bought ANY slings/prams/carrycots!! i do like the look of the sa-be one Loopy posted.
ok...panic slowly....

i'm sorta eyeing the iCandy Cherry but it's sso expensive and not quite sure if i can handle dragging it up and down stairs. whatever we get will have to be a travel system as we're broke and our flat is far too small to have more than 1. sigh

anyone else suffering from weird tummy sizes?
in the morning i look like i have a small-med food baby. by late afternoon-early evening, the bump looks like a proper bump instead of a food baby!

Kyuri · 11/05/2010 15:41

Hello all

We've finally gone public! Told the families at the weekend and everyone is delighted, although my sister is a little disappointed that we might miss her wedding but we expected that. Really hoping for an early baby which would allow us to travel in time for the wedding so fingers crossed.

Had 15 week appointment with the MW this afternoon which went fine. Heard baby's heartbeat (about 160 bpm) which was very reassuring. Next appointment is at 22 weeks.

It feels great to be out of the closet finally

PrivetDancer · 11/05/2010 15:57

Ooh I just managed to find the heartbeat with my Doppler

Told work yesterday and did the facebook announcement last night. All official now!
